Show/hide image

Hi!
I have one JSP page with h:graphicImage. I want this image to be rendered or not rendered based on some criteria (maybe button click would render image and next click wouldn't).
State is saved in managed bean. Say I click button so image is not currently visible on screen and go on next JSP page. On this page I click back and go back to first page and image is visible again. Altough managed bean state is different.
How can I hide/show image based on state of managed bean before page is loaded? Probably I should work something out with listeneres but I'm not sure. Any tips or pointers are welcomed.
Regards,
Matjaz

You should be able to do something like:
<h:graphicImage rendered="#{managedBeanName.rendered}" ... />
Have the managed bean return a boolean based on the current state of your bean. If the method returns true, the image will be rendered otherwise if false, it won't.

  • Home Page loads slowly because of too many show/hide images.

    I was asked to create a home page that displayed the correct product image in the background as you mouse over the menu item in the product portfolio navigation.  I built the page using quite a few show/hide behaviors displaying the correct image.  Now I have a HUGE home page that loads very slowly. Is there a better way to accomplish the same affect or do I need to scrap this idea and keep the images on the individual pages?
    You can see this page here:  http://www.keystonewalls.com
    (mouseover the PRODUCT PORTFOLIO button and scroll down the menu to see the affect)
    The client loves the fact that you don't have to leave the home page to get a good idea of what each product looks like but they aren't happy with how long it takes to load.
    Help!

    Yup.  You've got some trimming to do.
    http://www.websiteoptimization.com/services/analyze/
    On a T1 connection (1.41 MB/sec) your home page takes 18.50 seconds to load.  For dial-ups it's a very painful 395 seconds.
    Page size:  1,943,483 bytes.   Should be closer to 200 KB.
    HTTP server requests: 41.  This should be around 10.

  • Show  / Hide image on button click

    I have a button that when clicked through an advanced action will show a tick graphic.
    This works fine but what I would like to happen that if the button is pressed again the tick will disappear.
    Also if the button was pressed for a third time the tick graphic would reappear, and so on.
    What is the most efficient way of doing this?
    Many thanks in advance.

    Here we go (again). Sorry, but I have answered similar questions so many times. Here is an article that offers you several toggle button scenarios:
    Toggle Shape buttons - Captivate 6 - Captivate blog
    Steps for your use case, since you don't want to change the look of the toggle button:
    create a boolean user variable v_visib ; you can give it a default value of 0
    create a conditional advanced (or shared) action like this:
    IF v_visib is equal to 1
      Show im_x                where im_x is the image you want to show, in a shared action will be a parameter
      Toggle v_visib
    ELSE
      Hide im_x
      Toggle v_visib

  • Adobe Captivate 8 create a toggle between show/hide image

    Hello,
    Does anyone know how I can create a action with a button that toggles between shows or hides a image.
    Thanks in advanced for helping.

    BTW since you are on CP8, don't use an advanced but a shared action. The only parameter will be the image. You can then use that action over and over again, even in other projects. For another project: open the Library of this older project in the new project, drag the Shared action to the library of the new project. The variable v_visib will be automatically created, and when using that shared action, you'll just have to define the parameter (image), or you can even replace the image by another object or by a group.
    You can feel that I like shared actions, not everyone agrees with me however.

  • LiveCycle Form - Need Checkbox to show/hide image

    My checkbox is named Ucheck.  The image is named UStamp.  I need the checkbox to turn the image visible.
    I've read the other forum answers and have found this example:
    var showHide = event.target.isBoxChecked(0)?display.visible:display.hidden;
    this.getField("Text036").display = showHide;
    However, when I the above script in to my form (changinging the (getField to "Ustamp") on LiveCycle, it gives me this answer
    Script failed(language is formcalc;context is
    xfa[0].form[0].U-check[0].#subform[0].Ucheck[0]
    script=var showHide=
    event.target.isBoxChecked[0]?display.visible:display.hidden;
    this.getField("Ustamp").display=showHide
    Error: syntax error near token "?" on line 1, column 44.
    When I take the "?" out, it says it doesn't like something else about the script.
    I know NOTHING about Javascript, so haven't a clue how to debug this.  I do program in Access, but am not real familar with VB either.
    Thank you for helping this know-nothing....

    That code is intended to be used with a form that was created with Acrobat, not LiveCycle Designer. You should go to the Designer forum here and pose the question.

  • Show/hide detail row

    Carl:
    See http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=24317:6
    I modified your nifty example at http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=11933:1
    to use images instead of the show/hide detail labels.
    I had to make some minor mods to the code, but it works fine...for the most part.
    I used the option to show only 1 detail row at a time.
    If I click the show/hide images rapidly (actually I am not sure it is the rapidly part, haven't been able to reproduce it consistently), I end up with a situation where more than 1 detail row is visible at the same time.
    Can you please take a look and see if I am doing anything wrong?
    Thanks

    Mostly in IE, here is an example
    http://i3.tinypic.com/vo3bbn.jpg
    I am not sure of the exact sequence of clicks I did to land up at the screenshot, but I think rapidly clicking that show/hide image does it.
    Taking a look at the code
    function showdetail(t,i)The "t" that I am passing in to the function would be the IMG element in my case.
    I modified the Toggle function as
    function ToggleLabel(pThis)
            var l_show_img="/i/themes/theme_10/showhide_show.gif";
            var l_hide_img="/i/themes/theme_10/showhide_hidden.gif";
            var l_show_re=new RegExp(l_show_img+"$");
            pThis.src = (pThis.src.match(l_show_re)) ? l_hide_img : l_show_img;
    }where I flip the src attribute of the image.
    I am not sure what is wrong. If something were wrong, why would it work at all? Why would clicking stuff fast cause it to break?
    Thanks for any help.
    And I am not using AJAX at all, just your plain DHTML example at 11933:1
    Ah, I got it. Doing the following reproduces the bad state in both IE and FF consistently
    1. Launch the page in a new session
    2. Click the show/hide image on the first row to show the text
    3. Click it again to hide it
    4. Now click the image on the 2nd row.
    This shows the 2nd row's description...but it also shows the first rows description!
    Any idea why?
    Thanks

  • Why does the revealed image flicker when using the Show/Hide feature?

    I started using the Show/Hide Button and Forms function in InDesign CS6 and have had some peculiar things happen. I was mocking up some samples and on the swf version if you hover over the left side of the blue rectangle all is fine but if you move to the right side of the blue rectangle the image starts to flicker. When you hover over the red rectangle the pop-up image just flickers constantly. I guess there must be some issue with having the button for a revealed image under some portion of the revealed image. See: http://www.idugsf.com/_a/FI_BookSamples.html .
    The problem went away when the button and the revealed image did not overlap.
    This problem didn't occur with another file I had originally created in CS5.
    On the pdf version the buttons which are on their own layer behind the revealed image moved to the front in the pdf: http://www.idugsf.com/_a/FI_BookSamples.pdf

  • Image map rollover show/hide layer

    My client needs a map of the US which has image maps on specific states. I need to trigger rollovers to change the state's color and view info (layer?). I'm having difficulty triggering the rollover with show/hide action on a layer, or even to change the state color, as I can't create odd shaped slices. Am I making this harder than it needs to be? Some smaller states will use offset names as triggers.

    You can do that with an image map and a whole bunch of images; no layers
    required.
    The only image that will be swapped out is a map covering the entire
    area, however you'd need to create different versions of the map, each
    with just one state hi-lighted.
    Then create image map shapes with the polygon tool approximating the
    shape of the states. Assign a Set Image URL to each polygon to swap out
    the image for the one with that particular state hi-lighted.
    A sample can be seen here:

  • Show image/hide image in WebHelp

    I'm using RH 7 and trying to re-create a feature I saw in a
    WebHelp system (authored in RH X5 or earlier). Click on a "Show
    image" link and an image appears below just like a drop-down
    hotspot. On clicking, the text changes to "Hide image." I can't
    figure out how to change the text on click, and I hate that users
    have to click the same "Show image"link to make the image go away.
    Any help appreciated!

    This is the topic you want.
    http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/showhide/showhide_method2.htm
    You actually use two buttons, one that reads Show and one
    that reads Hide. Provided the images are the same except the text,
    to the user it will appear as if the text is changing. That is how
    it is done.

  • Make a button hide and show an image

    I want a button to hide and then show an image, basically an on/off switch.  I tried accomplishing this using multipl slides that jump around but even after removing all transitions, you can still tell that the slides are changing instead of just the image appearing and disappearing.  I have seen some posts about advanced actions but it's reading clear as mud.

    Christina,
    If you want a toggle button, that can be done with advanced actions. What did you read already? And which version of Captivate are you using?
    The idea is that:
    You create the image, but set its visibility unchecked in the Properties panel
    You create a user variable, will label it v_visib that has a start value of 0, will be set to 1 when the image is visible
    You create a conditional advanced action, that will check the value of v_visib:
    IF v_visib is equal to 0
        Show Image
         Assign v_visib with 1
    ELSE
        Hide Image
        Assign v_visib with 0
    I blogged several times about toggle buttons:

  • Show/hide lots of layer, image swaps and page size

    Hi - I am working on a webpage that requires 39 thumbnails to

    http://www.redsea.co.nz/lipitor/slidekit.shtml
    I have been asked to use scrolling divs to house the
    thumbnails and so i
    have.
    I'm working through the image behaviours (up to slide no. 10
    you'll see) and
    I'm wondering if there is a better way to do all this. 39

    layers and image swaps seems very laborious to me, not to
    mention the page
    is getting far too heavy........
    Anyone got any better ideas? (apart from a dynamic page) -

    Also, any other issues spotted around this site please let me

    Yes, I have a better idea. Use the ShowPic extension from
    PVII -
    http://www.projectseven.com/,
    or even do it yourself with the SetTextOfLayer
    behavior in DW -
    http://dreamweaverresources.com/tutorials/settextoflayer.htm
    Either of those would be much better ways, since the page is
    not encumbered
    with the weight of all of the enlarged images UNTIL you click
    on the
    corresponding thumbnail.

  • Robo v9 Show/Hide without Twisties - One button no longer working

    Hey there, as stated I am using Robo v9 with Show/Hide without Twisties (One button) with javascipts.  We have most of our images using DHTML drop-downs and when folks click on "Show All Images" on the page, the GIF changes to "Hide All Images" and all drop-downs (our images) and expanding text are diaplayed.
    It had been working all the time, but now it only works when I right click the topic in the TOC and choose "Edit Topic", then while in the Edit Window (Display view), when I do a View (Ctrl-W) and it displays the page within RoboHelp..I can click the "Show All Images" and it works like it always had.  BUT, if that page is not in the Edit Window, and I right click "Preview Topic", the click "Show All Images" (or on the DHTML dropdown itself) it will NOT show the images, *but the GIF image does properly toggle to "Hide All Images" (and if I do again, then it properly toggles to the "Show All Images" GIF, if I do it again), but now NO images are getting displayed for some reason.  It also NEVER works properly when I publish to our website (even when clicking the DHTML dropdown itself), but the GIF images toggle properly.
    If I right click and choose "Preview Topic" and click "View With" and use Internet Explorer 8 it still never works anymore, unless the topic is in the Edit Window (Display View), so I know the issue is not on the server.  It stops working after I do a generate and run on my pc.  Also when I view it IE8 within Robo (and Allow the Blocked Content to run the scripts), many instances of the same error is shown as:
    Message: Access is denied.
    Line: 2646
    Char: 3
    Code: 0
    URI: file:///D:/Users/_RBH9_TPO-Generate/v9-testing/ehlpdhtm.js
    ...but I *do* have access to the folder system, but in checking the coding of the ehlpdhtm.js, that area show, where I believe line 2646, character 3 starts at the "values = getAttribute(element, prop );" line below...but maybe something does not exist:

    I have a much older backup when restored, it all works properly again in all cases, but I have done so much work since then that I think would need to be manually redone.  I have played with keeping those some javascipts alone (in case I changed something) and updated the rest of the data files I had added, deleted the .CPD file, but it somehow stops working again, probably with some updated file.  I am not sure what specific files could be causing the negative impact that is preventing it from working.  Maybe if I knew what files could impact, I couldrestore those from my old backup.  The newer backups when restored do not work properly, so there was a point in time where something changed and is causing this.
    All prior versions of RoboHelp (v7 and v8) have always worked and still do.  I am using v9.0.1.262, as the latest version has not yet been allowed on our pcs (per security), but since my earlier backup works, I thought it may not be the issue, but wanted to tell you anyway.  ;->
    Any ideas on how I should proceed?  What files may have impact to cause it not to work anymore?  The showhide.js is the only .js to show up as a baggage file.  Also, the DHTML line does exits in each html page's code, as we are still using Robo v7 as the production software and the Show/Hide always works, and I copy them into the respective Robo v9 folders (and if new, then I copy them, then import them), otherwise the newer v7 updated pages are copied over the older v9 html files while RoboHelp is closed.
    Thanks in advance for any info you can provide!

    I may have figured out what to fix to get v9 back to working on the Show/Hide button, but not the "why?" .
    It looks to all be dealing with the Robo automatic html coding of where to locate the .js file(s)...here is a quick overview of this issue and what I did.  When I view the non-working pages within Internet Explorer 8 within Robo (and Allow the Blocked Content to run the scripts), I saw many instances of the same error is shown as this in the log, which implied since I *do* have access rights, maybe the file was just not being found.

    OK, here are my findings.  EXAMPLE #1 and EXAMPLE #2 below are excerpts of the same file.  EXAMPLE #1 is from Robo v7 and is copied to the v9 folder after it was updated so our soon to be "production" webhelp will be from Robo v9 (instead of making the same manual updates in Robo v9 as in Robo v7, I copy the updated the .html file to the Robo v9 file system).  Note the direction of the directory slashes of the java scripts listed below, as they are all DOS type slashes (back slashes), EXCEPT for ehlpdhtm.js as it is the ONLY one using UNIX (forward) slashes.
    EXAMPLE #1 (from Robo v7)

    //-->
    </script>

    EXAMPLE #2(from Robo v9)
    This is from the restored backup of the Robo v9 files that always work when I restore them, and note they are ALL UNIX (forward) slashes.  These backup files were generated from Importing/Upgrading a copy of the Robo v7 files into Robo v9.

    BUT since all .js files are referenced in EXAMPLE #1 have DOS slashes (back slashes), EXCEPT for the ehlpdhtm.js, I decided to change the line in ehlpdhtm.js FROM src="../../ehlpdhtm.js" TO src="..\..\ehlpdhtm.js" and IT (this one page) BEGAN WORKING AGAIN after I published.  So having all DOS back slashes DOES work in Robo v9!!!!  BUT it appears that Robo v9 only generates new pages using UNIX (forward) slashes in ALL coding.  I've read about issues like this occurring with the FireFox browser, but we only use IE8, and have not read anything like this related to IE8 issues.
    So if all UNIX forward slashes and all DOS back slashes can work in Robo v9 in finding and using ehlpdhtm.js, (the Show/Hide buttons function properly) why is this problem existing in Robo v9 when there are mixed "slashes" (using forward and backward)?  ...and the mixed slashes ALWAYS works in Robo v7!  They do not have to all be in the same direction in Robo v7 as it appears to have to be in the newer/more advanced Robo v9.  Why does it matter that all slashes need to be all the same direction, if Robo v9 CAN actually read and figure out the DOS back slashes (formatted by Robo v7 creation) and actually generates UNIX forward slashes for the .js files in new Robo v9 output within the .html?
    More importantly will I have to always do a Global search and replace in Robo v9 to change the direction of the "back slashes" when I copy updated Robo v7 .html files into the Robo v9 folders (instead of manually reworking each change), while in transition from v7 to v9?
    Thanks in advance any information, recommendations, and feedback as your time is greatly appreciated!

  • Making links that show/hide layers?

    Hi all,
    I created an InDesign cs4 file which is pretty much a guide for users of my liveCicle form. I have a bunch of layers in the file.
    I'm trying to make links associated with images that are in its own layers. So when i export the file to pdf and hit certain link, layer associated with that link shows up. I tryed to do this in acrobat 9 pro. I created links, but the problem is that links in non visible layers work behind the scene when i hover over.
    Is there a way to set layer visability in inDesign CS4?
    Thanks in advance

    No you can´t toggle layer visibility with buttons made in indesign. You have to finish it in Acrobat....
    Only way to make something appear or disappear in ID is to use show/hide buttons action...
    You can convert those images you want to show&hide to buttons. Then you can create another buttons to show or hide them.
    If you export as PDF, default state of a button can be hidden...

  • Show-Hide element in Dreamweaver CS5

    Please can you tell me why when I validate a web page I get the following error when using the Show-Hide behaviour.  The error is only reported for the first use of the feature and no of the others.  I don't understand.
    Line 239,         Column 235:     there is no attribute "onload"…HideLayers('drive','','hide')" onload="MM_showHideLayers('drive','','hide')" /…

    You have used the attribute named above in your document, but the       document type you are using does not support that attribute for this       element. This error is often caused by incorrect use of the "Strict"       document type with a document that uses frames (e.g. you must use       the "Transitional" document type to get the "target" attribute), or       by using vendor proprietary extensions such as "marginheight" (this       is usually fixed by using CSS to achieve the desired effect instead).
    This error may also result if the element itself is not supported in       the document type you are using, as an undefined element will have no       supported attributes; in this case, see the element-undefined error       message for further information.
    How to fix: check the spelling and case of the element and attribute,        (Remember XHTML is all lower-case) and/or        check that they are both allowed in the chosen document type, and/or       use CSS instead of this attribute. If you received this error when using the        <embed> element to incorporate flash media in a Web page, see the        FAQ item on valid flash.

        <p class="size">These formations are in Death Vally, California, USA. Artist's  Drive rises up to the top of an alluvial fan fed by a deep canyon cut into the  Black Mountains. Artist's Palette is on the face of the Black Mountains and is noted for having various colours of rock. These colours are caused by the  oxidation of different metals (red, pink and yellow is from iron salts, green is from decomposing tuff-derived mica, and manganese produces the purple). Called the Artist Drive Formation, the rock unit provides evidence for one of the Death Valley area's most violently explosive volcanic periods. The Miocene-aged formation is made up of cemented gravel, playa deposits, and much volcanic debris, perhaps 5,000 feet (1500 m) thick. Chemical weathering and hydrothermal alteration are also responsible for the variety of colours displayed in the Artist Drive Formation and nearby exposures of the Furnace Creek Formation.

    Sometimes DW's javascripts will throw errors like that, most of the time it can be ignored.
    What doctype are you using (the first line of your html)?
    If you have a "Strict" Doctype, did you try changing it to a "Transitional" version as the error report suggested?
    Edit > Preferences > New Document > Default Document Type (DTD) > Change from Strict to Transitional of the same version.
