Show parameters expanded in reporting services

I have a report that I created with visual studio. At the moment you have the parameters like this:
Is it possible to show them like this:

Of course, if you click on the drop down you see it like that. But I need to show this by default, without any click.
When they open the report they must see all the available filter options.

    Hi Gouranga,
    According to your description, when you install the SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint 2013, you find the files are installed into the folder for sharepoint 2010(..../14). Right?
    In Reporting Services, Not all features are supported in all combinations of report server, Reporting Services add-in for SharePoint, and SharePoint Products. Please see the linke below:
    Supported Combinations of SharePoint and Reporting Services Server and Add-in (SQL Server 2012)
    As you can see in the link, the SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services Add-in is only for Sharepoint 2010. This the reason why it's installed into the file for sharepoint 2010.

  • How to create user-friendly MDX parameters for MS Reporting Services?

    In SQL Server Reporting Service, when I connect to my cube to create a dataset, in Query Designer I create my query with a filter. It creates the following MDX for me:
    SELECT NON EMPTY
    KPIValue("KPI1"), KPIGoal("KPI1"), KPIStatus("KPI1")
    ON COLUMNS, NON EMPTY
    [Create Date].[Month Num].[Month Num].ALLMEMBERS * [Create Date].[Hierarchy].[Month].ALLMEMBERS
    DIMENSION PROPERTIES MEMBER_CAPTION,
    MEMBER_UNIQUE_NAME ON ROWS FROM
    ( SELECT
    ( STRTOSET(@CreateDateYear, CONSTRAINED) )
    ON COLUMNS FROM [ERP])
    WHERE
    ( IIF( STRTOSET(@CreateDateYear, CONSTRAINED).Count = 1,
    STRTOSET(@CreateDateYear, CONSTRAINED),
    [Create Date].[Year].currentmember ) )
    CELL PROPERTIES VALUE, BACK_COLOR,
    FORE_COLOR, FORMATTED_VALUE,
    FORMAT_STRING, FONT_NAME, FONT_SIZE, FONT_FLAGS
    When I add this dataset, Reporting Services creates a parameter named CreateDateYear. When I pass a value like "2014" to this parameter I get nothing and I have to pass a value like
    [Create Date].[Year].&[2014].
    How can I change my report to change this parameter for passing the value like "2014" instead of ugly and not user-friendly string
    [Create Date].[Year].&[2014]?

    Hi ,
      Follow the below steps
      1. Create a dataset with MDX as below which would return the member caption (2005,2006 etc) and member uniquename ([Date].[Calendar Year].&[2005],[Date].[Calendar
    Year].&[2006] etc)
    WITH MEMBER [Measures].[ParameterCaption] AS [Date].[Calendar Year].CURRENTMEMBER.MEMBER_CAPTION
    MEMBER [Measures].[ParameterValue] AS [Date].[Calendar Year].CURRENTMEMBER.UNIQUENAME
    SELECT {[Measures].[ParameterCaption], [Measures].[ParameterValue]} ON COLUMNS
    , [Date].[Calendar Year].ALLMEMBERS ON ROWS
    FROM [Adventure Works]
    2. In the parameter's available values choose the above data set and set the options as
    Value Field = ParameterValue
    ValueCaption = ParameterCaption
    In this way use will see only the years and based on the selection the respective values will be passed to the dataset as parameter.

  • Reporting Services Cube Parameters not generated automatically

    Hi, I have a few reports which display data from an Analysis Services cube.
    For example my report uses Dateset1 as the source of the report.
    When I modify Dataset1 by adding a new parameters in the Query Designer, a new (hidden) dataset is created called:  CustomerAgeCustomerAge.
    But a new parameter on the report is not automatically generated. In the Dataset1 - Dataset Properties \ Parameters there is an entry for the parameter which should be created e.g. [@CustomerAgeCustomerAge]. I can work around this but I'd like to find the
    cause. Is there a max number of parameters which are generated automatically - my report has 12.

    Hi darkdusky,
    Based on my understanding, when you add a new parameter in dataset query, the parameter doesn’t generate automatically in report parameters.
    In Reporting Service, when we define a dataset query that contains a query variable, the query command is parsed. For each query variable, a corresponding dataset parameter and report parameter are created automatically. As we tested in our environment,
    even we create thirteen parameters in data set query, corresponding parameters automatically appear both in report parameters and dataset parameters in dataset properties.
    So in your scenario, I would like to know how about your query with those parameters. If possible, please provide some screenshots of results before and after you add a new parameter in dataset query.
    If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • Reporting Services on Windows7

    My Report Manager Home page is "almost" blank!!!

    Anyone any ideas on how I get the rest of the page back?  I'm running SS2005 on Windows 7. The solution below can't be done for there is no check box to uncheck in Directory Security.
    Old Solution: 1. Goto IIS Manager (inetmgr) then uncheck the 'Allow annonymous access' in the Directory security of my Report virtual directory.2. Open IE and load up the Report webpage, it should be okay by now3. Goto Properties tab of the Report webpage,
    give access permission to NT AUTHORITY\IUSR and re-enable anonymous access from inetmgr

    Hi MyCharles32,
    According to your description, when you access report manger, the page display almost blank.
    In Reporting Services 2005, when accessing the report manager, we should create a role assignment for the user, so that the user can get full permission to access the report manager. In your scenario, please check if you have create a role assignment for
    the user to access report manager. If issue persists, you can disable Enable anonymous access feature in IIS manager and only check Integrated Windows Authentication. Then please add report manager site to the Trusted Sites zone in the IE browser and run the
    IE as administrator.

  • Reporting Services web service complex xml type report parameters

    Hi,
    I have the following xml type parameter in my request query that I use in reporting services.
    <Parameter Name="accountDetails" Type="XML" xmlns:d4p1="thevalue" xmlns:i="thevalue">
    <DefaultValue>
    <d4p1:AccountDetailDto>
    <d4p1:AccountNumber>12345</d4p1:AccountNumber>
    <d4p1:AccountType>Sales</d4p1:AccountType>
    </d4p1:AccountDetailDto>
    </DefaultValue>
    I want to know how I can assign values to the accountDetails parameter from report parameters, I've tried to call it from the dataset parameter properties but it doesn't return any values. I created Parameters!accountDetails.Value on the dataset parameters
    properties and assigned it the following value: it only returns empty columns
    ="<AccountDetailDto><AccountNumber>"& Parameters!AccountNumber.Value &"</AccountNumber><AccountType>"& Parameters!AccountType.Value &"</AccountType></AccountDetailDto>"
    You're help will be highly appreciated as I've been trying to solve this for a while now

    Hi Alisa,
    Perhaps I should explain my problem clearly...
    This is my query request that I send to the webservice:
    <Query>
    <Method Name="GetPerAccountAssetAllocation" Namespace="http://tempuri.org/">
    <Parameters>
    <Parameter Name="accountDetails" Type="XML" xmlns:d4p1="thevalue" xmlns:i="thevalue">
    <DefaultValue>
    <d4p1:AccountDetailDto>
    <d4p1:AccountNumber>12345</d4p1:AccountNumber>
    <d4p1:AccountType>JSE</d4p1:AccountType>
    </d4p1:AccountDetailDto>
    </DefaultValue>
    </Parameter>
    </Parameters>
    </Method>
    <SoapAction>http://tempuri.org/IPortfolioManagementService/GetPerAccountAssetAllocation</SoapAction>
    <ElementPath IgnoreNamespaces="true">*</ElementPath>
    </Query>
    It works well when I run it just like this, that is without specifying any parameters in the report data dialogue window or on the dataset parameters properties, it returns the values and columns correctly.
    So my problem is, I need to find out how(xml parameter syntax, steps e.t.c)
    I can do to allow users to specify the accountDetails parameter, its quite tricky for me coz its an xml type parameter, Im not sure if I should just specify the AccountNumber and
    ReportType parameters separately:
    I've tried the following without any success:
    1. Under the dataset properties:  I tried not to specify a default value for the accountDetails parameter on the xml query, then I added a parameter called "accountDetails" under the dataset parameters properties, then under parameter
    value I added the following xml value :
    <d4p1:AccountDetailDto>
    <d4p1:AccountNumber>Parameters!AccountNumber.Value</d4p1:AccountNumber>
    <d4p1:AccountType>Parameters!AccountType.Value</d4p1:AccountType>
    </d4p1:AccountDetailDto>
    (I also added the AccountNumber and AccountType parameters under the report data dialogue window)
    This returns empty columns, is there something I'm missing, or am I doing this incorrectly?

  • Reporting Services: XML Data Source and Parameters

    I’ve created an XML service (asmx) in ASP.Net that I want to use as a data source for an SQL Reporting Services report. The report and service work just fine if I use a Method from the service that does not have parameters. However, if I use a Method that
    needs a parameter, the query/report fails. My investigation makes it seem that the parameter is not getting passed to the Method at all. (The parameter is a DateTime and it always ends up uninitialized and the WebMethod throws an exception.)
    I’ve exhausted all my TechNet resources and Googled this excessively. It would seem that I am doing this correctly, based on all the examples I’ve seen, but I still can’t get it to work.
    I've done a lot of different permutations, but this is where I’m at right now.
    (Note: I've changed the Web Method's parameter to be a String instead of a DateTime. I did this as part of my trial-and-error process. Once I get this figured I'll return it to a DateTime.)
    I'm trying to include everything here that will help you help me (see attached image). I had to obfuscate a few things (not sure if that is necessary).
    See attached image:
    Created Shared Data Source in SQL Report Services
    Create Report Parameter (matching Web Method parameter)
    Created a data set in Report Builder (with Query, and parameter - matching Web Method parameter)
    Query in Data Source
    <Query>
    <Method Name="GetDueDateAging" Namespace="http://zzz.com/vvv">
    <Parameters>
    <Parameter Name="cutoffDate">
    <DefaultValue></DefaultValue>
    </Parameter>
    </Parameters>
    </Method>
    <SoapAction>http://zzz.com/vvv/GetDueDateAging</SoapAction>
    <ElementPath IgnoreNamespaces="true">*</ElementPath>
    </Query>
    This is where I needed the most help, and I don't totally understand it. But again, the parameter-less Method worked. I've tried adding different things in the <DefaultValue> tag (like @cuttoffDate and constant values), with no success.
    WebMethod Code
    [WebMethod]
    public List<AgingInvoice> GetDueDateAging(string cutoffDate)
    DateTime cd = DateTime.MinValue;
    if (!DateTime.TryParse(cutoffDate, out cd))
    cd = DateTime.Now;
    Shared.DueDateAging aging = new Shared.DueDateAging();
    return aging.GetDueDateAging(cd, Settings.Default.ConnectionString);
    I've looked at every online resource that I could find, but I'm striking out right now. Any help or hints would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Derrick

    Hi Derrick,
    In your case, please refer to the following method to troubleshooting this problem:
    We can use Fiddler2 to monitor the HTTP post, and check whether the parameter is being sent. The Fiddler tool can helps us debug web applications by capturing network traffic between the Internet and test computers. If the parameter is being sent, please
    debug the web service to ensure the method has values return.

  • How to show or publish the TFS - SQL Server Reporting Services reports in SharePoint dashboard?

    Hello,
    We have configured SharePoint site and SSRS for a team project.
    Foll. is the SharePoint site for the team project. When we click on the REPORTS link, it redirects us to the SQL Server Reporting Services website.
    My question is: How can I show or publish the reports from  SQL Server Reporting Services into SharePoint so that I can view the reports on SharePoint dashboard rather than having to go to the SSRS URL?

    Hi Nachiket,
    If you configure Reporting service for your TFS, then you can view the reports in report manger site when you click click report on Team Explorer. And SharePoint is a collaboration website product that offers deep integration with Office products like Word,
    Outlook, and Excel. You can save your team project related files in your SharePoint site. Check this
    page for more details.
    If you want to view reports that generated by reporting service on your SharePoint site, you might need to save the report in Excel and upload it to SharePoint site.

    Drill-down feature is a basic requirement, it is concluded in Reporting service from SSRS2000 to SSRS2008 R2, To
    your scenario I think the root cause is relevant to your incorrect steps. Please follow the steps below and then give the feedback:
    1.     Right-click the child groups in the
    Row Groups panel which is at the left-bottom of the BIDS, and then select
    Group Properties…
    2.
    Switch to Visibility tab, and then select
    Hide Radio-button, click the checkbox of Display can be toggled by this report item.
    3.
    Then select the parent group datafield in the drop-down list.

  • [Forum FAQ] Configuration Manager Console shows nothing if you change SSRS to using SSL after Reporting Service Point is installed

    If the SSRS is changed to SSL mode and http binding is removed after Reporting Service Point is installed. The Configuration Manager Console shows nothing in Reporting Pane. After digging into this problem, the cause is that the SSRS information has not
    been updated in Configuration Manager Database. The following steps are taken for finding the root cause.
    1. After changing to SSL, the Reporting Service Point log shows the error as shown in Figure 1.
    The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found.
    (!) SRS not detected as running
    Failures reported during periodic health check by the SRS Server DB2.SCJIZHO.COM.
    Figure 1
    From the error, seems the cause was the Reporting Service Point detected a wrong port. We digged around in Registry and found the information is a Registry key named ReportServerUri at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SMS\SRSRP. After changing the Report
    Server address to https. The error is gone as shown in Figure 2. But the issue remains, the Console still shows nothing. It is not a right direction.
    Figure 2
    2. Open the Console log file, it also shows some valuable information.

    Figure 3
    It seems the Console wants to access the old http site and it fails to get into the site for sure. Actually, the Site Configuration information is come from Site Control File and as we all know that ConfigMgr 2012 doesn’t store the Site Control file in the
    file system. However, it’s stored in the SQL database (as XML file). The XML file is stored in a view named vSMS_SC_SiteControlXML. This view is a read-only view. We cannot edit it directly. The related table stored the SSRS information for this view is SC_SysResUse_Property.
    Running the following query will list the SSRS address. We can see the address is still the old one. This is why the Console shows nothing.
    SELECT
    name,
    value2
    FROM dbo.SC_SysResUse_Property
    where name
    ='ReportServerUri'
    or name=
    'ReportManagerUri'
    Remarks:
    This article is just to let you know why the Console cannot show the Reports after changing to SSL mode. We do not intend to make you change the table in Database, if you want to change it, you will be at your own risk. The real solution to this situation
    is to reinstall your Reporting Service Point.

    Ok, but how do you solve this problem? Does uninstalling the RP and adding it back solve this problem?

  • Use parameters in SQL Server reporting services with sharepoint lists

    I want to make report from sharepoint 2010 list and forms library in sql server reporting services.
    but also want to apply parameters.
    I tried but parameters but it is not working.
    How I can apply sharepoint lists parameters in sql server reporting services ?
    How to run or view report of sharepoint lists or form library in sqlserver reporting services with required parameters?

    Hi John,
    When we use SharePoint list as datasource in SSRS it has two method to add parameter. Suppose we have a dataset (DataSet1) get data from SharePoint list. Please refer to the methods below.
    Method 1: We can add parameter in the Query Designer dialog box to add parameter.
    Click “Add Filter” icon in the “Applied filters” dialog box in Query Designer.
    Select the corresponding field (Title), fill with specific conditions, and select Parameter option in the end of the row.
    Create a dataset (DataSet2) fill with Title field.
    Double click the parameter we create above, set the available values from DataSet2 field Title.
    (Note: In the situation, we are get the single-value parameter.)
    Method 2: It is a general method to add parameter in SSRS report.
     Create another dataset (DataSet2) in the report fill with Title field.
    Add a parameter (Title) get available values from DataSet2 Title field.
    Add filter in the DataSet1.
    (Note: This method, we can configure multi-values parameter.)

  • Reporting Services Unicode Parameters Cause Performance Issues

    When I create a report using string parameters,  reporting services sends the SQL to SQL Server with an N prefix on the string parameters.  This is the behavior even when the underlying data table has no unicode datatypes.  This causes SQL Server to do a scan instead of a seek on these queries.  Can this behavior be modified to send the parameters as non-unicode text?

    Work around to overcome SSRS report performance due to UNICODE conversion issue:
    I have used a new parameter (of type Internal) which collects/duplicates the original parameter values as comma separated in string.
    In the report Dataset query, parse the comma separated string into  a list into a vairable table using XML trick.
    Use the variable table in WHERE IN clause
    Steps:
    Create a new Internal parameter (call it InternalParameter1)
    Under Default Values -> Specify values : Add Exp : =join( Parameters!OrigParameter1.Value,",")
    Pass/Use the InternalParameter1 in your dataset query.
    Example code
    DECLARE @InternalParameter1 NVARCHAR(MAX)
    SET @InternalParameter1 = '100167600,
    100167601,
    4302853605,
    4030753556,

    --- Load comma separated string to a temp variable table ---
    SET ARITHABORT ON
    DECLARE @T1 AS TABLE (PARALIST VARCHAR(100))
    INSERT @T1 SELECT Split.a.value('.', 'VARCHAR(100)') AS CVS FROM
    ( SELECT CAST ('<M>' + REPLACE(@InternalParameter1, ',', '</M><M>') + '</M>' AS XML) AS CVS ) AS A CROSS APPLY CVS.nodes ('/M') AS Split(a)

  • Using Show parameters service

    good morning,
    Dont know if this is the right thread for this question but here it goes:
    I was using Show Parameters Services 2 days ago to aquire a list of all current service names and it was returning info just fine.
    I then proceeded to add 1 more 'serviceName' to the list and then ran an alter command to updae that list. It all worked.
    But when i tried to reuse the Parameter services command again, it return an empty string. I did check in the appropriate table and the extra record is available with the other previouslly viewed service names.
    Is there some sort of limitation on Show parameters service that i dont know about? (On the return of info).
    I hope this makes sence.
    Can i get confirmation of what might be happening and if i can do anything to rectify this from cntinuing to happen.
    Thank you very much...

    Is this to do with using the SQL*Plus [SHOW PARAMETERS|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b31189/ch12041.htm#sthref2262] command to list the current [SERVICE_NAMES|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28320/initparams217.htm] setting?
