Why do I lose my webcam after a Windows 7 (64 bit) Windows Defender update?

I have a DV6-2150us with Windows 7 (64). quite often after a Windows defender update, I lose my webcam. During this time, I get an "unknown USB device" in Device Manager. I keep uninstalling this "unknown device".
If I do a "scan for new hardware, I get the "unknown device" back. I have tried updating the device drivers with video drivers, that were recommended in other postings. That didn't work. I have tried reinstalling the HP Webcam software, but then it can't locate the webcam.
Any suggestions?

Are using "Clear history when Firefox closes" ?

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

Three things to try...
Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself? If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
It could even be a malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

A new user name showed up on my computer after a windows 8 update.

A new user name showed up on my computer after a windows 8 update. A name I do not know or recognize. After the update, the screen showed 2 users, myself and the name "John". it wasn't there yesterday, & I am the only user. I also bought the laptop new so it can't be a previous user. Can anyone tell me how to remove "John" from my computer. I am going to do a system restore & see if that works. In the meantime, if anyone has ever had this happen, what did you do?

Satellite P200-P100 - Black screen after a Windows 7 update

Hi,
I have a Toshiba Satellite P200-P100 running Windows 7.
A few weeks ago, after a Windows 7 Update, my monitor would not show any image, it would light up, but still no image. Not even the BIOS it would load.
I fixed it by using System Restore using another monitor. The same happened again today, I must have ran the same update, but this time a system restore did not solve it, neither did reinstalling Win 7.
Any suggestions?

You mean you cannot see anything on the internal nor the external monitor even switching the display output pressing the FN + F5 buttons???
Hmm. in my personal opinion this has nothing to do with the Win 7 update
I mean the Win 7 OS update/installation should not affect the BIOS and you should be able to access the BIOS even if no operating system would be installed on the HDD!!!
So I assume the whole issue could be related to the motherboard issue or some parts placed on motherboard
Did you try this?
Remove the battery and disconnect the AC adaptor
Then wait a little bit (1hour) and then connect both parts again.
Then try to power up the unit
If this will not help then the RAM modules should be checked.

Client machine force reboot after apply window patch updated

I found all of client machines will force reboot after window patching updated via SCCM 2012. Have any options in SCCM 2012 can let users to choose reboot their machine after patching ? likely WSUS, users can suspend the reboot request. Pls advice.

The notification will happen automatically if ConfigMgr installs updates that require a reboot but a reboot is not initiated so there's nothing additional you need to do.
Note however that allowing users to choose this instead of forcing it is generally bad practice because the updates aren't truly installed until the reboot happens and there have been a couple of updates of the years that cause flakiness until the system
is rebooted also.
Why not allow the users to install the updates when they want up until a deadline and then force the reboot at the deadline (if one hasn't already been performed)? This gives the user the control over the process but also forces it to happen if the user
neglects performing it.

Firefox 13.0.1 (Win7 ) crashes after Windows defender update applied

Firefox 13.0.1
Upgraded to FF 13.0.1 with no problems encountered. The next day I restarted the system and installed the Windows Defender definition update released on 6/15 (11.27.2061.0 - KB915597) via Windows Update. After applying the update FF crashed immediately upon starting several times. I rebooted the system - no change. I then applied the restore point created just before the Defender update was applied, rebooted, and was able to start FF normally.

Does it help if you create a new profile or uninstall and reinstall Firefox?
If you reinstall Firefox then be sure to remove the Firefox program folder to remove possibly left over files in it.
You can try to create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

WebVPN dosen't work after a Windows 7 update.

Today a costumer called me with a strange problem
After a Widows 7 update two days ago all their WebVPN users could not log on.
The web browser comes with a popup with the message: This web location wants to install the following add-on: "Cisco Portforwarder Control by Cisco"
But nothing happens ?
If they remove the Windows 7 update, WebVPN works again.
Anyone there know what the problem could be and what to do to make it work ?

If I am not wrong, the only application that has been affected because of the Microsoft update is clientless vpn. It is because of the Microsoft Security update KB 2695962. For more information please visit:

The resolution to this can be found at:

Though this link provide a workaround but I have not seen that working.
There are two options to make it to work:
1. Either uninstall the specified security update
or
2. Upgrade the code to the code mentioned under Software Versions and Fixes of the link: http://tools.cisco.com/security/center/content/CiscoSecurityAdvisory/cisco-sa-20120314-asaclient
Let me know if this works after performing these steps.

TB suddenly stopped receiving or sending emails after a Windows 7 update.

In late March 2015, after a critical Windows 7 update (or so it seemed), I suddenly could no longer send or receive emails using Thunderbird. After much research, checking settings, restarting in safe mode etc, I was forced to give up and simply use my ISP's webmail service. Yesterday (22nd April), I had a need to find an earlier email so I started TB for the 1st time in weeks. It loaded fine and downloaded all of the emails from the last month. I managed to send an email, too. Around 12 hours later - with no change to my system that I was aware of - it suddenly stopped again.
What on earth is going on?.

I would guess you're anti virus. But it is truly a guess.
Perhaps there is a third party at work here. Did you have your phone or tablet turned off for that 12 hour period? or the part where Thunderbird got mail?

A potential issue in your code—although in some case this is an interesting feature!—is that your test variable is then bound to someFunction's context.
A slightly modified code will show my point:

alert( test1.value ); // changed!!
// In fact, we have:
alert( test1===test2 ); // true
In other words, someFunction will always update a single instance and return a reference to that single instance. The reason for this is that you do not call the function as a constructor. So, if you plan to re-use someFunction to address several objects, you should use new someFunction() instead:

This illustrates the crucial difference between myFunc() and new myFunc().
Anyway, if someFunction.prototype is not customized (i.e. you don't need dedicated methods for those objects), then there is no reason to use this. You could return as well an object instance that you build on the fly:

I have updated my MacBook Pro and since this update I have lst the ability to print. I have the printer connected to a Belkin router using wireless. All was fine before the update. I have downloaded the HP driver and still cannot see the printer available as a choice for a printer.

Why do I lose my "Groups" after I exit Firefox? How can I get them to remain for my next session. I exit the program through the Firefox tab.

I am running Windows 7 on my laptop, and lately when I close Firefox (under the Firefox tab with 'exit' ), the groups I have created do not reboot the next time I sign onto Firefox. What do I need to do?....I have even checked the "History" options but I can't find a way except to reload ezch page individually. Help!

Hardware: iPhone 4
Problem: Upgraded my iOS on my phone to iOS 5... lost all my apps.
               Apps still show up in iTunes.
               Can NOT drag and drops Apps to "re-install" on my iPhone
               CAN "re-install" apps from my iPhone via the App Store
Bigger Problem:
                         Does iTunes not have functionality to "drag and drop" and install apps to a device?
I really don't want to go through the effort of having to select each app via the app store... I thought Apple was smarter?
