Show the current Date in Numbers

Hi,
I need some help. I have created a check register in Numbers to follow my finances. I am trying to have Numbers autofill my "Date" cell column automatically with the date that I am entering data and have it freeze that day for that specific entry for the day I am in the Spreadsheet. I have figured out how to get "=TODAY()" etc. but do not know how to use a "IF" function to return the current date in a cell and then keep it there frozen for the next time I am in the sheet.
So to simplify, I want it to populate the date in which I enter transactions, save that for that occurrence and then be able to refresh the date for a new transaction if I get into it the next day but not loose the date from the previous entries. I hope that makes sense. Help!

Have you tried using Word Service in Numbers? My Insert options, active in Pages, are grayed-out in Numbers.
Yes I did.
You missed something.
To be able to insert we must click the correct number of time to get the blinking cursor in the cell.
My guess is that you just clicked once and got the rectangle enclosing the cell, the plus cursor but not the blinking one.
I also created my own service because WordService's one is not behaving as I want.
To do that I wrote an AppleScript and encapsulated it as a Service thanks to the free "TheService" from

  • How to show the Current Date in the Screen as default

    Hi all,
    This is may be simple to u all, but i need the solution for this,
    I want to show the Current date in the Screen, i am using the structure. but the calendar control showing when i run the program. But i want to show the current date as default.
    Thanks

    Is this a screen or a report?
    If its a report, try assigning DEFAULT sy-datum (to the parameter/select-option name)
    If its a screen field, try writing this in the PBO:
    IF fieldname IS INITIAL.
    fieldname = sy-datum.
    ENDIF.
    Hope this helps.

  • Weather icon that shows the current weather?

    My blackberry weather app used the icon to show the current weather conditions (sunny, rain, etc). The iphone calendar icon can show the current date. Is there a weather app that can use the iphone icon to show the current weather? I haven't found one yet.

    The calendar app is a native app and the only one that does change its icon. Third-party apps don't have that facility.
    The built-in Weather app does change its icon though - but only dependent on where you are (the region settings in the phone) and only shows either 23° Sunny or 73° Sunny - nothing else

  • Show options for projected amount of time based on the current date?

    I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to go about this, or has done something similar before.
    I would like to be able to have the user see what the current date is, and then based on that, be able to schedule an appointment for say, the next two weeks, given that they can select either a Tuesday or Wednesday. (When they "schedule" an appointment, I would just be sending out that info to a spreadsheet or something.)
    So, if today is Tuesday, 6/10/14, they will then see that they can select either Wednesday, 6/11, or a different Tuesday or Wednesday within the next two weeks. Ideally, they would be able to see all of those possible dates listed out, and click/select one.
    If this isn't possible in Captivate, is there another way to do this, and then embed that within that as a web page or object in Captivate, or run a script, maybe?

    I don't think you'd find a way to do the actual date changes and scheduling through CP - that's far more advanced that it's intended for. If there is a way, it'll take complex Actionscripting (and likely external javascripting).
    BUT if your developers can create a webpage that does this (i.e. .NET or PHP), sure, you could put that on a webserver somewhere then use a 'Web Object' in CP to import that page into an iframe so users can interact.
    CP won't know what the users are doing in the iframe...but with CP you could put instructions on the page too, maybe some general callouts, and follow up with a quiz or so.

  • Can I make a checkbox populate the current date?

    I've been asked to make a form that has quite a few checkboxes.  These checkboxes also need to be marked with a date when checked off.
    Rather than have the person filling out the form type the date every time they check the box, they request that when the user clicks the checkbox that a current date show next to the checkbox.
    I don't know if this can be done with a current date stamp or with having a text box that populates with the current date, etc.
    The forms are also going to be used throughout multiple days, so I can't just call on a "current date" and show/hide that text box like I had originally thought to do.
    I'm also really green to scripting so any help or guidance in the right direction would be much appreciated.
    Thank you.

    The following Mouse Up script for a check box will set the associated text field to the current data when it's selected, and blank the field when not:
    // Mouse Up script for check box
    (function () {
        // Get a reference to the text field
        var f = getField("text1");
        // Set the value of the text field
        if (event.target.value !== "Off") {
            f.value = util.printd("mm/dd/yyyy", new Date());
        } else {
            f.value = "";
    Replace "text1" with the name of the associated text field.

    There are a few ways, for example declare an IBOutlet for the text field and then use it with NSControl's stringValue: method (inherited by the NSTextField), or bind the value of the text field to a property, etc.  What have you got so far?

    You can use a text string as the reference.
    If you use the VISA Find Resource function, it will return an array of strings which you can index in your code, and store either the index, or store the string itself. You can even use strings like COM1 and COM2, assuming those ports are available.
    The challenge is when you move from one machine to another, where the serial ports may be different on the other machine.

  • Goods Receipt in the Current Date however Goods Issue in the previous date.

    Dear Experts,
    I am doing a GR through MB1C (Movement Type 561) in the Current Date (Both Posting and Document Date are current) for a Particular batch of Material. However when I am trying to create a sales order->Delivery and PGI in the past date the system is allowing me to do so. What could be the issue ?
    Example : On 23-02-2010 Goods Receipt of Material "A" for 50 Tons for Batch "B100" done through MB1C Movement Type 561.
                     Stock in System as on Date 23-02-2010 in MMBE is showing 50 Tons of Material "A", Batch "B100".
                     A Sales Order is created for 22-02-2010 for the same Matrial, qty, batch and PGI is done on 22-02-2010.

    Hi,
    Issue is that previous period is not closed that is why system allow to create delivery in back date.

    1. Create a  New Formula in Key Figures structure
    2. Give tech name and description and Select "New variable" option
    3. Next screen will launch Variable Wizard -> create a new variable with replacement path as processing type
    4. in next screene  select the date characteristic that represents the first date to use in the calculation (From Date)
    5. In the next  screen select Key in the Replace Variable with field. Leave all the other options as they are
    6. In the next Currencies and Units screen select Date as the Dimension ID.
    6. Save variable
    repeate the Above steps to create another variable (To Date)
    and now you can use these two new replacement path variables in your new formula.

    Use a formula: =NOW()
    Format the cell for Date and Time, with both the Date part and the Time part displayed. Format the two parts as you wish, using the choices in the Inspector's menus.
    The cell will update each time the table is recalculated.
    (Description is for Numbers '09 (Mac), Numbers for iOS will be similar, but not necessarly identical in details.)
