Show/Tide TOC At Runtime?

We are using Captivate 5.5, and wonder if there's a way to set up a TOC so that the learner can show or hide it at runtime?

Hello there,
When you will check the TOC option (Project > TOC> show TOC), Go to settings, and you can choose the Expand icon or collapse icon for TOC.
By default it already shows an icon as ">>" and "<<" on the top left side after publishing the project.

The JFrame will show, then hide, then show again. This is at runtime.

Show Merged TOC Option in Merged WebHelp

I am experimenting with merged WebHelp for my company's disaster recovery plans. There is a master company plan and then each department has its own dept plan. I have set up the merge using instructions from Peter's site. I'm running Robo 8.
When I generated the parent project, I did not select the "Show Merged TOC in Child Project" option, but all of the TOCs are still displaying in the merged output anyway. Is that how it's supposed to work? Eventually, I may want them to all display, but right now, I don't. I only want the TOC for the main child project to appear in the output. Is that possible?

Then you don't want that box ticked. The way it works is you generate all the outputs.
- If you open the start page of the parent, you will get all the TOCs showing as one.
- If you open the start page of a child, you will get just that child's TOC, unless you have ticked that check box when you will get the whole lot.

I want to show front panel in runtime( or when called) without all the
menus, tool bars and scroll bar, just as a ordinary control panel only
with window title.

These are options you can setup using the Sub-VI Setup.
You can also access these through the VI Server.
If you look on NI's web site and get the Splash Screen VI
you can see how to do this.
I can't get to LAbview right now or I would be more specific.

Why don't I see the "Show Merged TOC in Child Project" setting?

I have read about the "Show Merged TOC in Child Project" setting in RoboHelp 8 and have seen a screen shot of the build properties page where that check box is. But, when I go to build WebHelp, I don't see the same window. A number of the settings are different, and there is no "Show Merged TOC in Child Project" setting. I am using RoboHelp 8 (version 8.0.2.208 to be exact). I have pasted in a screen shot of the window that I see.
The first screen I see when I build WebHelp looks the same as the screen shot in Peter Grainge's article on Merged Help. The screen above is the second one I see.
Can anyone help? I'm mystified!

Looks like you experimented with enabling Section 508. When you do that and toggle it back off, you are left with the Traditional style - no skin WebHelp. So back up a screen and choose a skin. Then you will see the option.

How to show/hide TOC in CP8

I would like to include a TOC which allows the learner to hide or show it. I added a basic TOC to my project, but don't know how to insert a show/hide function. Thanks for your help!

This will only work with a TOC in overlay:
Create a shape button, which you can put on master slides, or time for the rest of the project. It will act as a toggle button to turn TOC on/off.
Create an advanced or a shared action (the last makes it easier to reuse in other projects):
Toggle cpCmndTOCVisible

Why the Image is not showing on Report at runtime?

I am working on a web site which was developed in ASP.Net 1.1. This web site also contains Crystal Reports version 9.
Now I have loaded the web site in Visual Studio.net 2005 and hence in ASP.Net 2.0. Still the Crystal reports version is 9.
Everything is ok and Crystal reports are showing data properly.
But one thing is very strange and annoyable.i.e. When I insert image on Crystal Reports through right click-> Insert->Picture, the image is shown in the design time preview of report, but when I load the Crystal Report on .Net control CrystalReportViewer and run the application, the Image is not displayed. The problem becomes more strange when I Export the Crystal Report to PDF file and MS Excel. Strangely the Image is also exported there and is displayed. Whats the problem? Why Image is not displayed on the CrystalreportViewer of the form on run time and why on exporting to PDF file and MS Excel, it is displayed? Can any body tell me whats the problem behind of not displaying image on runtime?
At least it means that Image is embeded and loaded on runtime. Only now viewing. Only a blank Picture box displayed.

A couple things can cause this.
Right click on the red x to find out the name of the png file. Search the web server for that png and make sure that the asp worker has access to it.
The other is a image handler issue. Search the kbase for Red X NET 2005 and you will find a kbase or two that addresses this.

Why does it show installed "Blackberry Runtime for Andriod" on my Q10??

I just noticed it says this app is installed when I never did. Plus it says it is not available for this device.
Please someone help me delete it? The Applications do not show it all. What is up?

You can't uninstall it. The only way is to reload the OS that has the original runtime. The other option is to find a copy of the old runtime in a bar file and sideload that back on the device. I don't know the version to help you start looking.
If you are having trouble with apps I suggest loading the 10.2.1.1925 that can be found over at crackberry.com in the beta section. It may be a beta but in my opinion is the best OS BlackBerry has ever put together for the Z10, official or beta.

How to show the TOC pane in Webhelp

I'm using RoboHelp 7 for HTML to produce Webhelp projects.
I find that whenever I compile the project, once it is embedded in the software application it is intended for, the TOC, Index and Search pane does not display automatically. Instead, there is a "Show" link at the top left of the topic window. When you select it, the pane is displayed.
The application users are complaining that they can't navigate the help because there is no TOC! It hasn't occurred to them to click on the "Show" link. Is there any way the TOC pane can be made to display automatically?

It is because of the way your developers are calling the help. They seem to be using direct URLs to the topics. See Calling WebHelp using URLs on my site.

Captivate 4, publish to SWF shows no TOC bar at bottom

4 hours later and for the life of me I cannot get the TOC bar to show at the bottom of the published file when uploaded to LMS. The course is scorm compliant and TOC is set to "show TOC".

O yes, when using Adobe site and orumes from SA it is frustratingly show. If I set the sites location to South Africa it simply defauls back to USA.

Perhaps I misunderstand your question: TOC is never at the bottom of the movie, but to the right or to the left, taking up about 250pixels extra in the horizontal directon, if you set it to Separate.
I think you set the TOC in Overlay mode because I do see the double arrow (left top in your screenshot): then it doesn't take up any space, but you have to instruct the user to click on the double arrow to open up the TOC. It will be on top of your movie then.
To change: open the Settings (from the TOC dialog box), if you want to have the TOC always visible, set it to Separate:

Hide/show portlet dynamically at runtime

Hi All,
I am working on WL 8.1
I have been trying to hide a portlet at runtime using
portletBackingContext.setVisible(false);
in preRender() method. But still that portlet is visible.
I tried backingContext.setupStateChangeEvent(WindowCapabilities.DELETE.getName());
in init() method. It is also not working that means that portlet is not getting deleted in display.
I can hide page using
pageBackingContext.setVisible(false); but cant hide portlet.
Any one can help me on this.

The problem is solved. The method setVisible(false) is working fine.
I never tried to returning false from the method preRender() before. Now i tried as a try, its working fine.
When you want to hide a portlet then return false and you want to show return true.

How to show entire TOC when clicking a CSH link

I am maintaining 2 separate help projects for 2 separate
applications. Both use map files and ids to open csh topics. There
is a main help link in the header of the application that is
supposed to open the entire help file, including the table of
contents, with the focus on the first page of the help.
In the one application, I have the link in the header going
to the map id for the first page of the help, and the entire help
file opens, including the TOC. In the other application, I have the
link in the header going to the map id for the second page of the
help (the other help project), and instead of the entire help
opening, I just get the csh page I linked to without the TOC. I
need the header link to open the entire help. Any suggestions? I
know that one project is looking for the first page of the help and
the other project is looking for the second page, but does that
really make a difference? I remember having this project link to
the first page before, and the entire help didn't open then either.
I don't know why it would function differently for the different
apps/projects, as they are set up identically.
I hope this makes sense.

We have had this exact same issue, the TOC sometimes not
opening when WebHelp is launched from a CSH link. The behavior is
inconsistent, as you've indicated.
I've searched and found no solutions, and Adobe appears to
not recognize it as an issue.
Frankly, this and a number of other issues we're having are
leading me to lean towards dropping RH altogether. It is simply too
buggy.

Slide Groups don't show in TOC

I groupped my slides in Filmstrip, but they are not display as groupped in TOC.

Did you perhaps activate the TOC before creating slide groups? In that case try using the Refresh button in the TOC:
If you want more than one level in the TOC, you'll have indeed to set grouping and indenting up in the TOC itself.

No Sections Icon in Pages: No checkboxes show in TOC.

Hi All, just down-loaded Pages (I'm new to Mac) & don't see the Sections Icon anywhere. Also, TOC in Instector is blank with no Checkboxes. Help please.

There are two different kind of documents types in Pages Word Processing and Page Layout. You have most likely opened a Page Layout template which doesn't have the TOC feature or Section icon in the toolbar. You probably have a Pages icon in the toolbar.
The TOC (table of content) can only be created in theWord Processing document which has a text layer that the Page Layout document doesn't have.

ServerRuntimes doesn't show ALL runtimes

Folks,
In wlst; I connect to the admin server of a cluster of two managed servers (of which one is co-hosted with the admin (on the same machine)). Then,
runtime()
cd('ServerRuntimes')shows ONLY the server runtimes of admin and of the managed server co-hosted with the admin, but not of the other/second managed server.
What I'm trying to do is convert a weblogic.Admin ... -adminurl ... get -mtype ServerRuntime, which returns ALL runtimes.
Any ideas?

Is the managed server alive? wlst will show only server runtimes for all the servers that are running, or atleast the servers that Admin server can connect to or accessible to AS.
