Show tree folder structure of file system directory

Hi,
I am new to flex.
I am using AS3
I am creating web application.
I want to show the tree directory structure of the file system similar to what we seen in applet.
Is there any component in flex, which will do that?
Can it be possible in web application?

Hi,
Use the FileSystemView class of javax.swing.filechooser
create an instance of the view and choose the method:
File root = FileSystemView.getHomeDirectory();as your root file object.
Maybe you need to do some modifications on your FileTreeModel...
under windows the desktop node and the first level nodes down from there
are not real file-objects ...

It is not possible to add a folder in the standard system. I would suggest that you place special project integration documentation in the highest level of the Business Scenario folder, in the documentation tab.

Thanks Barney, I tried that but all that comes up in Spotlight are the log files that show the file paths! I don't know how Steam works. Are all the files held by Steam on their server perhaps?

Host just passes commands to the OS; the simplest way to try would be playing a little bit around in the shell to figure out what's not working...

Database files list on one drive in master.sys.master_files, but show on another in the file system

We have a one node cluster sql server instance where the machine was patched/updated and re-booted this past weekend. The machine came up, but the SQL Server did not because it could not locate RestoreCheckpointDB24.ckp on an
M drive. If I RESTOREFILELISTONLY on my backups everything was clearly on an N drive previously. To get by the error, our network team changed a registry key pointing to
N drive to M drive and everything magically came up. The file system and failover cluster manager are now showing all files to be on an
M drive, but if you query master.sys.master_files everything is showing on the
N drive. Anyone know how this is possible and how to resolve???
As well, a log shipping session is now broken because it's copying to a missing
N drive and my Management->SQL Server Logs folder is empty as well.
Any ideas? I'm completely baffled as well as our network guys.

I'm thinking your problem is:

That's called a hack and hacks usually have unexpected and adverse consequences.
And in more than 15 years of working with SQL Server I've never had to use a registry change to make SQL Server work. As a personal best practice I avoid making manual changes to the registry at all costs.

How to upload files residing in a folder on local file system .

Hi, I have a problem when trying to upload files.
I have a folder in my local system and have n files in it. Now if i use the file upload element i need to click n times to upload these files. So i want to achieve programatically to upload all the files in a folder given the folder name to the application. Is this possible or is there any restriction to achieve this through webdynpro.
Also how to know programatically all the names of files and folders in a particular folder during web dynpro session.

Based on my knowledge, i think Event Receiver is a possible way to achieve this requirement, we can use that to automatically draw the folder structure when you add a new folder. Here is a link shows the code:

Preference folder/No such file or Directory

Hello knowledgeable ones!
So I'm using single user mode to move/delete my preference folder in hopes that it will recreate itself and upon start up, get past the grey screen of despair.
I tried what it says on the Apple.com site about renaming/moving preferences and the iMac only responds "no such file or directory". Possibly because I don't remember what I did for the short name on my account? I don't know 100% which exact version of OS it is either.. This is because I've only had the computer six days, it was the family computer my younger brother mainly used but he passed away 4/nearly 5 months ago now, and my dad asked me to take it on my birthday, kinda TMI I guess but it does sound stupid that I don't know. My dad's computer is close to same/or maybe it is the same as this one, so this computer may have 10.58 like his, my dad however much he's infatuated with Mac products knows next to nothing about them.
The endless grey screen started after I installed avast! because dumbly I thought I'd check for viruses since I hadn't used this computer in ages (I've been working with an outdated snail-speed PC since I moved out of my parent's house). avast! told me something within my preferences was corrupted something like media_preference and I assumed after deleting it, it would remake it on start-up anyway and avast! gave no other option and refused to quit..
Sooo I have an idea of what's wrong but not what to do?
I have an install disc that may not be the correct one. The iMac won't boot it on start-up from 'c' or 'option' and the disc is Tiger v. 10.48 but this computer has been upgraded before maybe, it is 10.58 now? I have nothing but the keyboard plugged in, I've tried many times doing safe mode start-up with 'shift' 'command 'v' and it says generating crash report and something with the computers name and error with loginwindow. My account is the admin, and my brother's doesn't have admin rights and it doesn't automatically log you in on start-up if that makes a difference?
Is there a way to clear a cache of some kind to make stuff work? I tried making a new user in single user mode to log-in or maybe that will recreate the deleted preference, honestly maybe I'm not doing it right? I haven't made much progress in single user mode. I don't think my dad has a firewire cable and I know I don't, I read that maybe we could hook them up to restore stuff though I have no idea how and he doesn't actually know the computer isn't working since it was my brother's, I feel incredibly bad and am very reluctant to tell him.
How do I get past this grey screen + spinning wheel? Sorry this was long! Thank you for reading!

My preferred scheme is : save on the machine in a defined folder.
Attach a folder actions script to this folder to copy every new or modified document on the server.
The backup tool installed on the server will be of absolutely no help.
If the document is corrupted, it's during the save process so the tool will backup a corrupted file.
I assume that the described problem is not linked to the folder where you try to save the beast but to the folder in which document's components are stored before it's converted to a package or to a flat file.

Tree Implementation - Like a file system

Hi all,
I'm want to implement something that will look similar to Windows's file explorer - it should have a tree on the left side and a table (datagrid) on the right side. The tree displays some hierarchy, let's say folders, and upon selection on a folder in the tree, the right side displays the files inside it. Important to say that the tree doesn't show leafs (files), just like in the file explorer in Windows.
The entire hierarchy is supplied as an XML to my flex application.
My XML structure will look something like this:

    <FILE label="FILE1.2" id="FILE12_id" />
</FOLDER>

How can I hide the leafs (the "File" tags) in the tree but show them on the table when clicking on the parent folder? How can I "slice" the XML and supply the children (and only them) to the table (datagrid)?

Yes. This possible with ADF Faces RC, which provides an af:tree component. Have a look at the Fusion Order Demo, which uses the tree to implement a similar usecase to the one you describe.

ICloud Drive shows 'Encrypted Folder' and 'Encrypted File' instead of correct folder and files names

On my 2014 MBA (10.10.2), I added a group of folders and files to iCloud Drive in Finder by dragging and dropping. I do not use disk encryption. The files are of various types (mostly jpeg/pdf, and a few docx). I can see the files when I login to iCloud.com, they are not showing as encrypted. But on my iPad2 8.2 the folders and files show as Encrypted Files and Folders (Settings-iCloud-Storage-Manage Storage-Other Documents (under Documents and Data). I have tried opening these with "authorized apps" on the iPad2, but the apps don't see these files. Two questions: 1. Why are these showing as encrypted, i have no idea what is on the iPad2?; and 2. Once I can get an answer to 1., will I be able to open these jpeg and pdf files on the iPad2. Thanks.

Sorry we aren't communicating. This doesn't have anything to do with a program being associated with the file. No regular app can open an encrypted file. Here is the final outcome. For some reason, after 2 days, these files now show up as unencrypted files in iCloud Drive on the iPad. That is they now match up by name and extension with what I have on the MBA in Finder. There is no explanation except that iCloud Drive is buggy.

Labview builder installer shows "X:\ProgramFilesFolder" instead of the system directory.

I was able to generate good installer files few weeks ago from labview builder. Since few weeks, when a generate a installer files, when a start the installation on PCs, the default installation directory is "D:\ProgramFilesFolder\..." instead of "C:\program files\...". All my build files that was working correctly in past are now with this problem.
I had uninstalled the builder and reinstall it after. No changes.
I there any workaround to fix this.

You'll want to verify that your Windows default install directory is set correctly in the registry. Here are the steps to follow:
0.
1. Go to Start >> Run...
2. Type "regedit" in the Open field
3. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
4. Back up this registry branch first so you can undo any unwanted changes in the future! Go to File >> Export.... Type in a name to save the .reg file as and choose Selected branch for the Export Range.
5. Now, to change the default install directory, you'll notice on the right-hand side window, there will be a string called ProgramFilesDir. Modify this value to the desired path.

Can we access PC's folder structure in Flash

Hello All,
I am new to Flash. I dont know if its the right forum for my post or not. But I need to ask if there is anyway to show the folder structure of a clients PC in flash when the user clicks on a browse button in a web site just like the one below? I googled for a "Multiple File Uploader using flash" but what I found there is that an open file window opens and we are able to select multiple files from it. I could not found anything like below. So my question is that whether we will be able toshow all the folder structure or not?

How can I "see" the folder structure behind the iPhoto-library?

Within iPhoto (iLife 8) I can right click on a picture and, through Show File, find it in its respective subfolder. BUT, when I go to finder and highlight the iPhoto library in Pictures, I only get information about the total library (size, location etc,) but not its underlying folder and subfolder structure(as was customary in iPhoto6). What changes in settings do I need to make to show the folder-structure?

None, you can't do it.
With iPhoto 7 (iLife 08) the old iPhoto Library Folder is now a Unix Style Package File. The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves. You can look inside there simply by right-clicking on the iPhoto Library and going 'Show Package Contents'.
However, It is strongly advised that you do not move, change or in anyway alter things in the iPhoto Library Folder as this can cause the application to fail and even lead to data loss. There are no user serviceable parts in the iPhoto Library.
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
For 10.5 users: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Apple-Click for selecting multiple pics.

To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. If you're using Gmail you can use THIS
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
Or, if you want to access the files with iPhoto not running, then create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use THIS
Other options include:
1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

because two runs were synced with a wrong date i want to change the date. I did research and it is possible to edit the xml file in mac os but i cannot find / access the hidden folder (nike+!?) where this file should be located. Any suggestions? Thank you

$Extend is a file system directory that contains several indefinite optional extension, such as $quota, $objid, $reparse, $usnjrnl, etc.
You can see it and perform on it througn 3rd party software or PE system.
