Showing headers based on multi column details section

Hi,
I have a report which has a subreport listing a simple list of records from a table.
The list of records is displayed using the "Format with Multiple Columns" option in Section Expert (2 columns). The printing direction is set to "Down then Across".
How can I set up the report so that it suppresses the header for the 2nd column is there if no data there?
Thanks

Hi Santhosh,
I used formulas in a similar concept to what Abhilash mentioned above (*you will need to know how many rows fit on one page).
Create a formula to put in the details section (where your headers are) that keeps a track of the page, column and row number (which resets the variables accordingly)..
shared numbervar rowCount;
shared numbervar pageNum;
shared numbervar columnNum;
if pageNum <> pagenumber then (
// now a new page so reset everything..
    rowCount := 0;
    columnNum := 1;
    pageNum := pagenumber;
if rowCount = 30 then (
// new column so reset the row counter
    rowCount := 0;
    columnNum := columnNum + 1;
rowcount := rowcount + 1;
..now use the rowCount variable to suppress the details header if its > 1.

  • Crystal reports show rows of a field in detail section in number of columns while exporting in ms excel

    Hi,
    I have a crystal report and a field called source.
    The source field can contain more than one records.
    When I export it to ms excel then source field is shown in three rows in excel.
    Name
    Source
    Batch No
    ABC
    A0001
    K1
    K2
    K3
    But now I want to export to excel in the following format
    Name
    Source
    Batch No
    ABC
    A0001
    K1
    K2
    K3
    The Name and Batch No field are in Group Header and Source in detail section.
    Also the Source field can vary in number i.e. there can be any number of Source.
    And I only want this type of output when exporting to MS Excel.
    Is there any way to do this?
    Please reply.
    Thanks.

    Try this:
    1) Create a formula with this code and place it on the Details Section:
    whileprintingrecords;
    numbervar x := x + 1;
    stringvar col1;
    stringvar col2;
    stringvar col3;
    if x = 1 then col1 = {Source}
    else if x = 2 then col2 = {Source}
    else if x = 3 then col3 = {Source};
    2) Create another formula and place this on the Group Header:
    whileprintingrecords;
    numbervar x := 0;
    stringvar col1 := "";
    stringvar col2 := "";
    stringvar col3 := "";
    3) Create three separate formulae - one each for the three Source columns and place these on the Group Footer:
    E.g. for first Source column:
    whileprintingrecords;
    stringvar col1;
    E.g. for second Source column:
    whileprintingrecords;
    stringvar col2;
    Drag and drop these formulae beside each other on the GF.
    4) Move the 'Name' and 'Batch No.' fields from the Group Header to the Group Footer
    5) Suppress Group Header and the Details Section.

  • Multiple Column Detail

    I'm doing my 2nd ever Crystal Report using the Visual Studio 2008 version. The report has 2 different types of detail lines, each with their own corresponding heading. I made two groups, two details and set conditional logic to determine which one prints for each type of data. This works great. But I need 1 (and only 1) of the details to do a "Format with multiple columns" type display with 2 or 3 columns of the data fields in each row of the dataset for this particular detail. I can't see a way to set "Format with multiple columns" for only 1 of the detail lines. I'm thinking there must be some way to do what I want (perhaps an array?) but I can't find any examples on the web or in the books I have. FYI I tried doing this task with a Sub Report for the multi column detail but I ran into problems with the headings, pagination, and using multiple datasets so I abandoned that approach. Could someone please offer some help?

    Hi Paul,
    I don't think it is possible to make one detail section with multi column and the other without. I think by using fake group you can get it. Try this
    Create a formula like
    whilereadingrecords;
    true
    Now insert a group on this formula as the multi column option can apply to group footer or we may not depending on the option that we have in section expert>Layout>Format Groups with Multi Column.
    So place the fields that you dont want mulati column option in the group footer and see the preview.
    I hope this may help!

  • Row headers for details section columns

    Post Author: Shawn Weaver
    CA Forum: General
    I'm new to Crystal Reports, and I'm recreating some old reports in Crystal. I'm currently working on a report that shows record detail in columns, with a header for each row at the start of the row (on the left).
    I've figured out how to use the "Format with multiple columns" option to display the records in columns, but I can't figure out a way to put headers in the first column.
    For example, if the fields being displayed were an ID, date, and price, I'm trying to do something similar to:
    ID        <ID1>        <ID2>        <ID3>
    Date    <Date1>    <Date2>    <Date3>
    Price    <Price1>    <Price2>    <Price3>
    I don't know if a Cross-Tab would provide a better solution, but I would need some guidance on that, as well, since my attempts at using a Cross-Tab so far haven't had much success.
    Thanks for any help.

    This thread hasn't seen any updates, but I've figured out a few different ways to solve my problem, so I'm going to add them here for anyone that may come along in the future.
    The first method is to put headers in the first column and use conditional formatting to prevent the headers from being shown on any column except the first. This achieves the row header effect but limits the usable room in the column (since part of it will be taken for the headers, even if they're not displayed).
    The second (and, in my opinion, better) method is to simply use groups. For each group, the group header and footer will be put around the column:
    <Group Header> <Column> <Group Footer>
    If the group footer is suppressed, and the group header is suppressed using conditional formatting (like above), you get a header followed by several columns. The only difference is that the conditional formatting must be applied to the group rather than the detail record.
    In both cases, the conditional formatting is simple (Crystal Script):
    RecordNumber mod <columns> <> 1
    (for groups: "GroupNumber mod <columns> <> 1")
    where "<columns>" is the number of columns displayed on a page. (i.e., "GroupNumber mod 4 <> 1" for a report with 4 detail columns)

  • Remove Multi columns in Detail Section

    I'm converting reports from Crystal 8.5 to Crystal 2008.  My old report has a detail section with multiple columns, and I want to remove this formatting.  The check box in the section format window is grey and can't be changed.  What is the magic combination to get the detail section back to no columns?

    I'm struggling with the same problem, only I'm currently working with a report in version 8.5.  The report was originally designed years ago using the Label wizard, but now the client wants to change it to a regular report.
    I decided to "peek under the hood" and this is what I found:
    The Crystal Report Object has a property "Kind" which will have a value corresponding to the application constant CRReportKind.  The possible values are these: 1 (crColumnarReport), 2 (crLabelReport), or 3 (crMulColumnReport).  Versions 8.5 and 10 are the same.  I'm thinking that this property is what's preventing us from getting to that grayed-out checkbox.  However, it is a read-only property, meaning, obviously, that you can't change it.
    The report I'm working with is a 2 (crLabelReport).  This is the VB6 code I used to find that:
    Dim reportname As String
    Dim oApp As CRAXDRT.Application
    Dim oKind As CRAXDRT.CRReportKind
    Dim oRpt As CRAXDRT.Report
    Dim oSection As CRAXDRT.Section
    Set oApp = CreateObject("CrystalRuntime.Application")
    reportname = "(put the complete path and filename of the report here)"
    Set oRpt = oApp.OpenReport(reportname, 1)
    Debug.Print oRpt.Kind
    Set oRpt = Nothing
    Set oApp = Nothing
    It doesn't look promising.  You will probably have to redo the report, or, it may be possible to recreate the report in VB only setting the Kind property to 1.  If someone else can verify that this is doable, it may be the best solution.

  • Blob dictates duplicate items in details section-based on supression

    I was orginally having issues with my supression on this.  I think I have it figured out. But..
    I have parts that I request that sometimes have drawing with them.  I created a table in Access with 3 columns - number, .bitmap., nameof drawing
    I brought this table in.  I place 1 drawing in the reports and this changes based upon the Paramter{drawing.id} that I have beeing selected.  The problem is that  I get duplicate fields produced in my details section.  Now the blob sits in my report footer C.  Can anyone suggest why or help with why my data is duplicating in my details section?
    all items in my details section are duplicating
    here is my sql if it helps:
    max40385
    SELECT "PR"."PRNUM", "COMPANIES"."NAME",
    "COMPANIES"."ADDRESS1", "COMPANIES"."ADDRESS2",
    "COMPANIES"."ADDRESS3", "COMPANIES"."ADDRESS4",

    "PRLINE"."ORDERQTY", "PRLINE"."DESCRIPTION",
    "PRLINE"."UNITCOST", "PRLINE"."LINECOST",

    C:\Documents and Settings\kpowell\My Documents\Drawings.mdb
    SELECT `Parts_Drawings`.`ID`
    FROM   `Parts Drawings` `Parts_Drawings`
    Edit here-
    Ok - I have 3 parameters
    1- sets pr field ={?pr.num}
    2.- mandatory answer determines a supress on fields(blob, and section blob is in) - supress statment is   - {?yes/no}=no  - for both areas
    the parameter is {?yes/no}
    3. sets up the blob to put into the document base upon a field in the table
    that I made in access (based upon column 1 in acces table) - user makese selection based upon yes or no above if no then just leave it as  ......
    The wired thing is when I have multiple line items in my Pr (purchase request)
    if I included a drawing there are no duplicate details
    If I dont include the blob (meaning I supress it based upon the answer in  my parameter - all items in the details section duplicate  ( i suppress these if duplicated but it leaves huge gaps in my report.... any help would be great!
    Ok i figured it out. In my access table i created the 1st entry and left the bitmap entry empty and put a descrition of not needed. I selected this  as my drawing in my 3rd parameter and it satifies the report as thinking it has  a drawing in it even though there is not.  So all my duplicate line item in my details section disappear.  thanks all

  • Merging Page Headers Section and Details Section

    Hello,
    It is for an Invoice Report. I am having a list of values which are directly fetched from a table. There is a column named 'Type' which is having values 'Gas' and 'Water'. The table is having another column named 'values' which will list all values for the Type 'Gas' and 'Water'.Based on the 'Type' we will be displaying 'values' in the detail section. Gas values will be displayed in Details section A and water values will be displayed in Details Section B.
    Q1: My requirement is to display like this
    Page header for GasDetails section A
    Page header for WaterDetails section B
    Page header for ElectrictyDetails section c
    Q2: I am using the same SProc for fetching values for Gas and Water. (At present I am having values only for type Gas. Just assume that there are five values for Gas. So the SProc returns a total of five datas and these values are displaying correctly. But I am getting five 0.00 values for the type Water.
    Here is the sample of code in the formula section used code used:
    If Isnull({RptInvoiceSub.Type}) <> True thenIF {RptInvoiceSub.Type} LIKE 'Water' THEN{RptInvoiceSub.value}

  • Project Server - Projects does not show up in the detail section of the resource availability view!!!

    Hi,
    I click resource center in PWA 2010 and select a resource; then click resource assignments and a list of projects along with the task which the selected resource is assign is listed. I then click on resource availability and set the date
    option and units for the selected resource and the resource availability and capacity is visible in the details section but not the list of projects that the resource is assign.
    How can I get the list of projects to show up in the details section under the resource name?
    A. Williams

    Hi A. Williams,
    Could you post a screenshot of BOTH upper (graph) and lower (detailed grid) parts of our resource availability page?
    It would be very weird that you can see workload in the upper part but not in the detailed grid. This is what we need to know to help you:
    Are you not seeing at all the assignments in both graph and detail grid of the resource availability page? In this case the issue comes from your assignment, not from the resource availability page.
    Are you seeing the assignment in the graph but not in the detail grid?
    In case this is an assignment issue, some reasons could be:
    you're not looking at the right period
    date range selection has not been applied clicking on the button "apply"
    the assignments are proposed (versus committed)
    the assignment has not been publish (column publish to "yes" in MS Project Pro)
    the assignment owner is not the resource
    Here is (sorry, it is in french) my upper part (graph) with 1 resource selected, 3 weeks and a 7hrs assignment on the 2nd week (note that you have to apply the date range once selected) :
    Then the lower part (detailed grid) where is have exactly the same information (same assignments, same resources, same date range):
    Hope this helps.

  • How to force multiple columns in the Details section

    Hello,
    My report has a lot of data in the Details section, but it could fit on one page if I could put it in three columns. Is there a way to do this?
    The Details section has setting: Force the new page after certain number of visible records. This would be perfect for me if instead of multiple pages I could use multiple columns.
    Thank you,
    Peter

    Thank you.
    I think I see now how to format the columns.

  • Creating Multi-Column API radiogroup based on LOV

    Hi everyone!
    I was wondering whether or not it is possible to create a 3 column radiogroup based on the APEX_ITEM.RADIOGROUP API in APEX 3.0?
    For instance, my radiogroup is based on a user's interest level and is supposed to look like: oTest oProduction oBoth
    The values returned by whichever button is selected is based on a table value.
    I'm having trouble making this multi column instead of 1 column with multiple rows. I need to set these up with an LOV similar to STATIC2:Test;TEST,Production;PROD,Both;BOTH
    I also cannot create this radio group as a page item because they must display based on a query issued by a report region on this page.
    Any ideas // suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Eric
    Edited by: user11685190 on Oct 12, 2009 9:50 AM

    Andy,
    I'm actually going to have a radiogroup within the report column itself. The suggestion you gave is actually why I'm mixed up as to how to do this....I've always used Apex page items to create my radiogroups, and then you can simply add the LOV and change the number of columns and it's all set up for you.
    This radio group is actually going to be within a row queried by the report. The report is essentially a 'checkbox selection screen' that also allows the user to select which interest level they hold for each selection (interest level is represented by this 3-option radio group). Therefore what you're going to see on the screen is ( [] represent checkboxes, o represent radio buttons):
    Banner INB
    []Planned Outage Notification oTest oProduction oBoth
    []Unplanned Outage Notification oTest oProduction oBoth
    Banner Self Service
    []Planned Outage Notification oTest oProduction oBoth
    []Unplanned Outage Notification oTest oProduction oBoth
    My question was mainly geared towards whether or not you can add a static LOV to an API radiogroup (apex_item.radiogroup(1,interest_lvl,blah)), so that it could look like:
    apex_item.radiogroup(1,1:2:3, NULL, 'Test':'Production':'Both') as result.
    The only documentation I can find deals with issuing a single return value to these API radiogroups. I actually need a three column API radiogroup that hold's three different values based on which group member the user selects. If you can only issue one return value per group, I would have to define three under the same global variable except changing the return value and displayed text for each...such as:
    apex_item.radiogroup(1,1,NULL,'Test') || apex_item.radiogroup(1,2,NULL,'Production') || apex_item.radiogroup(1,3,NULL,'Both) which will hopefully display as: oTest oProduction oBoth
    I'm going to have to concatenate some &nbsps in between so my radio group buttons and labels are actually seperated, but this may be the right idea.
    I'm going to toy around with this a little more today, I'll post my results.
    Thanks for your quick responses!

  • How to show/hide total based on selected column in column selector

    Hello,
    Is there a way to show/hide the total based on what column is selected in the column selector? Or alternatively to hide the total based on the column selected? I'm using OBIEE 10g.
    Basically, I have a pivot table with a handful of row variables and one measure. Then I allow the user to select the column variable. The default is to have nothing, which I have achieved using the hidden/dummy column trick (Re: How to add new columns by using Multiselect However, if my pivot table is set to have a total, I now get 2 columns that are the same. When the user selects any other choice (e.g. gender), I would want to see Male, Female and the total. Something like this:
    Default:
    Count
    East 10
    West 20
    Total 30
    Gender:
    Male Female Total
    Count Count Count
    East 6 4 10
    West 14 6 20
    Total 20 10 30
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks!

    I recommend using view selector instead of column selector

  • Changing details layout for a multi column report

    I have a report that contains linked 2 subreports. The report has a details layout width of 2.5 inches which will create a 3 column report (Format groups with multiple columns is checked) . This works fine for my first subreport as it is small enough to fit that width. However that isn't enough room for my second sub report. Ii need to change the details layout width from 2.5 inches to 3.5 for a 2 column report then back again when that section is finished. Is this possible?

    i believe you can depends on where you place you subreports
    insert a 2nd group under the first, place 2nd report in the new details section
    in the section expert next to the details section check off underlay.
    this will lay them out next to each other but grow independetly
