Showing remote webcam in iWeb built site

I have a remote webcam at a summer camp that I am webmaster for. I use iWeb for the site. Currently we have the webcam feeding to another url. How can I get that to show on a page on our site?
Thanks

Display the other url in a HTML Snippet with the <iframe> element.

  • What happens to iweb-built site when I upgrade from Leopard (10.5.8) to Snow Leopard (10.6.3), and subsequently upgrade to 10.6.8 or even 10.7? Will fonts stay the same? Will layout change? Or anything else change? Thanks

What happens to iweb-build site when I upgrade from Leopard (10.5.8) to Snow Leopard (10.6.3) and subsequently update that to 10.6.8 or even to 10.7? Evidently iweb has been discontinued. I have version 3.0.3 of iweb now but understand that there's been an update for OS 10.6 so same question goes for this update.
Will fonts change? Will layout change? Will widgets still work? Links? Will Google Analytics PlugIn still work?
(Since MobileMe is disappearing, I now save iweb site to local folder on my computer, then upload it to GoDaddy using Cyberduck. I run Google Analytics plug in on folder before its uploaded.)
My computer, MacBook Pro came with iweb, which has been updated to 3.0.3. Since iweb is discontinued, will upgrade of operating system just ignore iweb so that iweb will run the same as before? Or will it wipe it out? Or change how it currently works (questions above).
    Thanks

As you now know iWeb and iDVD have been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. HOWEVER, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
Currently if the site is published directly from iWeb to the 3rd party server the RSS feed and slideshow subscription features will work. However, if the site is first published to a folder on the hard drive and then uploaded to the sever with a 3rd party FTP client those two features will be broken.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: iW14 - Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
NOTE: the iLife 11 boxed version Is no longer available at the online Apple Store.  To get a copy you'll have to try Amazon.com or eBay.com.

  • Iweb built site moved away from mobileme, how to delete from mobileme?

I built an iweb site for a local nonprofit using mobile me to host it as I built. After it was completed, I published to a folder and ftp'd it to another host.
    http://www.neverquitneverforget.org/NeverQuit_Never_ForgetGala.html
Just can't seem to figure out how in the **** to get the old stuff off the mobile me site.
I can't delete the pages in iweb. I can't delete them by going to mobileme.
Can anyone direct me to an easy solution?
    Thanks in advance

Do not delete the site from iWeb whatever you do unless you have a back up of it, or you will end of re-building the site in iWeb. iWeb has no import facility, so if you don't have the relevant domain.sites2 file, then you will need to re-build the site.
You need to log into your MobileMe account and delete the site directly from your iDisk. When logged into MMe under system preferences, iDisk should come up as one of your options, so click that and delete your site from there.

  • Can an iWeb built site be opened by another user on the same machine?

I use my Mac in English and in Japanese(GF) I just added iWeb 08 and so far I`m struggling to understand why I cant open the site I built with one user account on another??? Can you actually open a project in progress?
Its easier for me to navigate and build with iWeb in English but I need our site to have Japanese as well, so am I forced to build only in Japanese? or can I open a site built with iWeb on another account.
Are they just keeping things proprietary so we cant open sites built with other programs?
I`m new to all this so any feedback or questions for clarifying my issue are welcome.
    p.s. I LOVE MY MAC

    Thanks for the info Roddy,
I found the file and was able to open the file with the other user, but I was unable to save it. It says that I dont have permission to make changes. I checked the original file in the other user and the permission was set to read/write, and when I copied it over to the other account it still said permission-read/write. But it would not allow me to save. The file size is 2.7 Mb so I figure all images and little things are there.
I thought there might be a file conflict with the original site being built so I cleared the domain file and trashed it. Now when I launch iWeb with that 2nd account it still loads that copied over file and wont let me save. I added a new site and removed the copied part but still dont have permission.
To sum it all up, I have lost the saving capabilities of iWeb on the 2nd account and I dont know how to start from scratch. Of course reinstalling is always an
    option but a hassle!
After scratching my head for 30 minutes I realized the solution to my problem.
I created a new user"website" in English and built a few pages, then save. Change my default language to Japanese and logout and back in, now iWeb will open in Japanese under the same account. All is good!
but as I said, My GF's iWeb soesnt work now:( ant ideas?
Thanks for the quick reply before!

  • I have built sites on my imac, mac mini and MBA all in iweb09

i have built sites on my imac, mac mini and MBA all in iweb09 is there anyway to get them all on the same machine ? (i use mobile me)

    Here's what worked for me,
I have two sites, one I mad on my macbook and one I made on my iMac.
First go into the "Library" Folder. In there you will find a folder labeled application support.
Go into that folder and you will find another call iWeb. Your site is in there.
So I took the file for the site out of the iWeb folder on my macbook, and copied it to my
    iMac.
I keep them separately. If i put the file from my Macbook into the iWeb folder on my iMac, it would replace the file that is already there. When you start iWeb it will automatically open from that folder.
SO to keep them separate and organized, and to open the one you want there is a little trick.
First copy them all to the machine you want them on.
Take all your site's files and keep them in their own folders in the location you choose.
Make sure that on the machine you are using there is nothing in the iWeb folder native to that machine. Just move that file to another location where you wont lose it.
Now, start iWeb. When you do, iWeb will prompt you to either create a new site or allow you to choose one from a location of your choice. Tada! That is when you can choose whichever site you want to work on from the location where you are keeping them.
    Good luck.
What is your site by the way?
    mine are www.kloran.com and www.myenglishimages.com

  • Minimum Browser/OS Requirements for Viewing iWeb '08 sites??

Up until yesterday the only problem I'd seen viewing my site was a PC user who got a very small slideshow, about 1/3 the normal size. It was an entry level el cheapo laptop so I wrote it off to that.
Yesterday I tried to show a friend my site and it didn't display correctly. The first problem was the Nav bar displayed as a vertical bulleted list. Worse yet on pages with the new photo albums there was no content. Just the masthead and title. No albums. This was a Mac running OS X 10.3.9 and Safari 1.3. This I could understand. We moved to a Mac running OSX 10.4.3 and Safari 2.0 and it was no better. Both had the latest Java version on them. Now I can see possibly not working under Safari 1,3 and possibly OSX v10.3.9, But 10.4.3 is not that old.
I would like to put a notice on my site of the minimum browser requirements to correctly view the site on a Mac or PC. I looked in the various Read Mes and on the Apple Site and didn't see this information. Has anyone seen a list of the minimum requirements needed to properly view an iWeb '08 site and it's new features?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Synchronizing iweb 08 site on 2 imac's

Is there anyway to synchronize 1 web site on 2 imac's?
    Thanks in advance

I've been able to keep my iWeb Domain.sites file in my Dropbox, a service similar to iDisk but it does a few things differently (offers a Windows client, for one). It's worked really well over the last few weeks that I've begun switching to iWeb from RapidWeaver, and I've even dumped some huge stuff into it besides a simple blog. For example: Delicious Library is a cool app that lets you catalog all your books and DVDs, and now it can catalog your entire iTunes library.
This is useful for various reasons, but one of them is that you can export an HTML version of your entire library (or just a selected portion) to iWeb so your site visitors can browse all the stuff you own. My iTunes library is over 280GB; I have tons of movies, TV shows, and a lot of music. Dumping all this into iWeb and saving the file worked great; Dropbox kept the file perfectly synchronized between my two Macs.
I would imagine the iDisk could handle this just as well, as I've heard the iDisk synching solution mentioned at plenty of other sites from people who have been working with it that way.

  • Red Xs show up on images when viewing site in Windows

After adding some pages (from the standard templates) and content, the site (published to mac.com) displays on Windows XP and Vista with red Xs in the top-left corner of every image. The images do show, but that X is there on every one. Check it out at marrs-attacks.com. It also loads and/or renders very slowly (I can't tell since IE doesn't have a load progress indicator that I can see). Also notice the nearly invisible Made on Mac image at the bottom-center. Everything appears correctly and quickly on a Mac.
Other pages such as turnstyleband.com, also recently created and published by iWeb '09, don't show this problem (although one big difference is that the first site has background images and the second doesn't).
Any ideas, or is it just another iWeb bug that I need to report?

From the article I linked you to:
... if The image is displayed based on a script, an ActiveX control, a cookie, a Java program...
If you disable Java in Safari the pictures don't show up at all. iWeb is using Java to generate the photo albums. If the users allowed Java all would probably be golden. Security settings are all over the place on Windows machines. Some antivirus software will also disable what it thinks are security holes. Unfortunately, many websites use Java for their functionality.
This is why, on my main page of my site I avoid the nav bar. I created my own nav bar with links to avoid the Java problem. I let the nav bar show on other pages because I am less concerned with them. Some other programs other than iWeb can create photo pages in standard html which you link to instead of using the java-based page iWeb creates.
If you want to build a truly friendly site avoid java, and avoid effects on your photos which creates large png files and makes the site load slower. I have also found that using a page background and browser background slows down the site. Just use a browser background. You can also open the files on your iDisk and optimize the photos, using a photo editor like Adobe Photoshop Elements. You will lose little quality and drastically improve the load time.

  • Firefox Adblockplus destroy completely my entire iweb made site.

    Hi there.
My site is built with iweb and not published on mobileme.
Firefox is my default browser, since one week Adblock plus destroy completely
my site. It doesn't block only the videos, it erase font etc.
If I disable adblock everything goes back fine.
Why it does it only with my site? Someone noticed the same problem with iweb made sites?
It is in the nature of the codes used by iweb that are similar to advertising
    banners, pop-up ecc?
There is a way to avoid it? I'm afraid my site could be completely unreadable by all firefox adblock plus users!!
    Help!!

never call a directory or a folder "ad", sooner or later it will be crushed down by adblock!

  • Urgent Deadline to Fix PC Mess Displaying iWeb Created Site -- Please Help!

IWeb 08 and web-design-savvy Mac users, I really need your help... and I'm on a tight deadline.
I've designed the website promoting our group's big event by using iWeb 08; I was very troubled when I discovered tonight that there are major display problems in Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 on Windows PCs. This website is essential to promoting the event and I can't afford to lose traffic because of display issues.
    Here's the site.
    www.spj.org/pittsburgh
Can anyone walk me through the best fixes for the following problems?
On a PC in Internet Explorer:
    1) The home page display chokes up during scrolling; there's a sort of "stuttering" effect in rendering of simple images that slows down the PC and gums things up.
    2) The layout of the center-justified text is trashed by Explorer's insertion of large blocks of blank spaces and a line return in an area where I change the color of the text for emphasis.
On my web pages that display the iWeb-generated navigation links:
    3) The label for the final navigation link drops down to a second row, creating a ragged, poorly formatted look.
    4) If you click on the navigation link for the current page, it takes you to the home page instead of keeping you on the current page.
None of these problems happen in Safari for Windows.
In Firefox for Windows, I believe that only problem 3 happens.
Explorer 7 for Windows appears to fix only problem 2.
-Will an "optimizer" program fix any or all of these problems?
-Can I open the iWeb-created html files in Netscape Composer, SeaMonkey, TextEdit, or any other application, change the html code to fix any of this, and save the repaired result?
-Is there any change in the formating within iWeb that I should try that will put things right on a PC?
Thanks for any help you can offer. I have to fix this somehow this weekend.

    Cédric,
Thank you. I will definitely build my own navigation menu, as you described to solve problems 3 and 4.
I'm still struggling with the decision of how to deal with issues 1 and 2 On a PC in Internet Explorer. (See below.)
I did already update to iWeb 2.0.3 before I created the site.
    Here are options I'm considering.
One is to take screenshots of the site's current iWeb-generated graphics, turn them into jpegs, and reinsert them into the page as jpegs. My thinking is that it would eliminate any Explorer problems with rendering png images and effects.
Another option is to rebuild the entire site in another program, trying to imitate the look of my current iWeb-created site. The problem is, I don't know if I have to skills to properly create my PayPal online registration section, which is essential. If I do try to redo the entire site, I haven't decided to use Netscape Composer (my old method), SeaMonkey (its successor), or some other application with which I have no experience. If I do recreate the entire site, I'm going to have to be careful to exactly duplicate the individual page names, so that I don't break the links for anyone who has linked to the current pages.

  • Can't open file "~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites"

I was working on iWeb today, doing the usual adding pictures, and gave a few pages some color, and a few pictures here and there.
I restart my computer, because as usual, I almost have no memory left. When the computer is running again, I opened iWeb, and I get this odd message:
    Can't open file "~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites"
Why is this here? I didn't do anything weird to trigger such message. The site was working perfectly fine! I tried taking the domain file to the desktop, then opening it once iWeb launches from there, and same message appears. I put it back to its place, and tried putting the iWeb plist on the desktop, and same deal!
Everything is back in its place, I haven't changed or triggered anything to deserve this. I ran Onyx, full optimization update. I restarted computer, and conducted a full disk permission repairs. Only 1 error found out of another app.
My computer is healthy, my programs are running fine. What is going on? Does anyone know how I can fix this?

    Hi
Whaow 3.1GB. I'm sure iWeb has problems with that. I have the same problem with my iWeb. I have about 100 BLOG pages with a lot of pictures. Although iWeb scales the pictures when publishing (good!) it does not scale them when they are stored in the domains file/dir (bad!) So if you have an 8MP camera, this adds up after a while.
You can open the comains file and try to figure out what causes the trouble. (Right click/CTRL click, open content) sort on size to see if you have some extremely large stuff in there (Movies???) Take them out and try to make them smaller.
    Good luck!!

  • Help- Changing iweb podcasting site and adding feedburner

I set up a podcast with iweb then realized I wanted to change a few things.
    1. I want to change the website name in iweb from "Site 2" to "Awake Podcast"
When I do this it changes the feed, and I can't access the old feed.
    2. I wanted to change the feed to feedburner so I can track the podcast.
How do I do this? What order? Which feed to I adjust? What code do I need to add?
I'm new at this. Any help would be appreciated.
    Justin

In order to change iTunes to a different feed (and as you've found changing the site name in iWeb changes the feed URL by changing its name) you have to add a special tag to the feed:
    <itunes:new-feed-url>URL OF YOUR NEW FEED</itunes:new-feed-url>
This can't be done within iWeb which doesn't allow you to tamper with the feed. Download the existing feed from the server, Open it in TextEdit *IN PLAIN TEXT MODE* not Rich Text. Add the tag just below the 'channel' tag near the top of the feed (on a new line). The URL must be full and include the http://
Upload the feed manually to the server, replacing the existing feed.
Now change the name of the podcast site in iWeb and do a complete republish. Make sure that it hasn't over-written or removed the modified feed: you may need to upload it again, and you may need to recreate the folder it was originally in. Wait for iTunes to recognize the new feed - it shouldn't take long.
If you want to involve Feedburner you will have to submit the new version of the feed to Feedburner. Mke sure Feedburner have uploaded their version of the feed. Then you will have to download the new iWeb feed and modify it by adding the tag with the Feedburner URL. Once you have done this *DO NOT* do anything in iWeb until you are sure that iTunes has transferred to the Feedburner feed. Then you can add new episodes in the usual way.

  • Google finding iWeb mobileme site

I have an iWeb mobileme site and a separate domain name linked. Google can't find it.
Does a site have to be hosted separately for this to happen?

In terms of SEO, iWeb sites aren't that different from any other site. It's slightly more challenging to accomplish some things, but for the most part, you can nail all of the important on-page optimizations on iWeb that you could if you were to have an HTML/CSS website.
But anyways, if your site isn't commercial and traffic isn't a big issue for you, then you don't really need to worry about SEO or hosting. If you want to be found to some degree, ie. typing your site URL into Google, then you just need to create and submit an XML Sitemap and you're good to go.
