Running windows vista home basic on a Hi-Grade laptop, with all latest windows updates + service pack 2. 32 bit operating system - celeron 430 @1.73mhz (does that make sense?)
2gb RAMThis can also be a problem with the files [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
Delete [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.
You will have to redo App Tabs and Tab Groups after deleting sessionstore.js.

Exception on JaxRpc invoking a Siebel web service
Hi,
We've created a web service on Siebel 7.8, activated it, and generated a wsdl. I've imported that wsdl into my BPEL project (10.1.3.1), created a PartnerLink from it, but I'm getting an exception when I attempt to query Siebel. If anyone is familiar with this, I'd appreciate any assistance.

user532371I kinda found out what this error might be, after going through the Siebel Object Manager logs. We re-use a CRM OnDemand session to post all our Web Service Requests. The idle time out for the session, by default is 10mts. So, when I post the request exactly at the 10th minute, when the request is transferred to OM and the session is invalid, the CRM OnDemand server doesn't through a valid soap fault.
To resolve this issue, we just need to make sure to re-login at 9th minute if there is an idle session available.
Thanks. -
Upgrade Siebel Analytics 7.8.2 RPD to BI Applications 7.9.6.1 RPD
We are upgrading from Siebel Analytics 7.8.2 version to BI Applications 7.9.6.1 version. The Siebel Analytics RPD is customized and having custom catalogs which are based on Pharma tables and the Core model is not at all customized. So, I have followed the steps specified in section 'Upgrading the Oracle BI Repository for Industry-Specific Analytics Applications' of Upgrade guide. Its known that there are some datawarehouse changes occurred between these versions. One of these changes are,
W_ORG_D of Siebel 7.8.2 is replaced with W_PARTY_ORG_D in BI Apps 7.9.6.1,
W_PERSON_D of Siebel 7.8.2 is replaced with W_PARTY_PER_D in BI Apps 7.9.6.1.
In order to upgrade the RPD we need to make use of MAP file that comes with the installation of BI Apps 7.9.6.1. For this process I'm using the map file rename782-796.map while equilizing the RPDs. But I dont find any information related to the above schema changes in the map file even though they are Oracle shipped ones. So, after doing some analysis I have listed the Alias tables created on top of W_ORG_D in 7.8.2 RPD and similarly in 7.9.6.1 RPD and specified the mapping information of these Alias tables in existing MAP file. Equlized the RPDs using the modified MAP file and done the merge process. But I'm observing some issues like the merged RPD is having both W_ORG_D and W_PARTY_ORG_D tables in all the three layers. Can I get any help on fixing this issue.
Thank You,Any idea on the above issue?

How to run siebel dedicated client in a IE sandbox
Hi all,
I don't know if sandbox is the right term for this, but here is what I need to do. We use Internet Explorer 8 to run our Siebel 8.1.1.10 version. Our Enterprise want's to install a newer IE version, but they cannot because Siebel requieres IE 8. I must admit, that I am not aware why it would not run on newer IE versions but they made a test and it failed. The solution to this would be to migrate to Open UI but due to high costs this is not an option.
However, our Windows Engeneers developed a package to run IE8 in a sandbox. So we have IE8 installed under C:/Program Files/Internet Explorer and have a sandbox folder C:/Workarea/SiebelApps Thinapp_V2/ where another Internet Explorer8.exe is located. We use a separate Registry within the sandbox folder. The target is to have IE12 installed under Program Files and IE8 in a sandbox. We are able to open the webclient using the sandbox IE8 exe and everything seems to work fine. But if we try to open the dedicated client the application doesn't start. IE shows "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". The URL is "http://localhost/start.swe" so this seems to be ok.
To start the dedicated Client we use the command line. We added the parameter /b pointing to the sandbox IE8 exe File (as you may see we use DEU language on Windows...)
START "" /D "C:\Programme\APP\SIA\Client_81110\BIN" "C:\Programe\APP\SIA\Client_81110\bin\siebel.exe" /c "C:\Programe\APP\SIA\Client_81110\bin\deu\zkbconnect_kfg2.cfg" /b "C:\Workarea\SiebelApps Thinapp_V2\Internet Explorer 8.exe" /u T580 /p T580 /d ServerDataSrc
It seems to me that start.swe command cannot be found.
If we remove the /b parameter so that siebel uses the IE installed under Program Files the dedicated client starts and works.
Has anyone tried to do something like this before or has a hint on how we could do this?
Kind Regards
Claudio
We found an issue description in Oracle SupportWeb. There is a problem with the /b parameter found in 8.1.1.6. The Bug has been closed without a solution. Just naming the workarround to use the default browser. However I would say that the workaround was just a way to close a bug they do not want or cannot close because you would not need /b to open Siebel in the default browser. You would just use it if you want Siebel to open in a browser that is not set as default. So I will close this thread because there will never be a solution to this problem.

Nachricht geändert durch user3261506Hello Chetan,
Thank you for the hints.
Dedicated Client itself works fine if we use the standard IE browser installed on the windows machine. We are just not able to start the Dedicated Client if we use the IE installed as a sandbox. Actually it is better to say, that the Dedicated Client starts, but IE throws an exception that it cannot connect to the website. It is maybe clearer if i put this in context:
Using the IE Standard Browser:
Shortcut: C:\APP\SIA\Client_81110\BIN\siebel.exe /b "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" /c "C:\APP\SIA\Client_81110\bin\deu\zkbconnect_eng1.cfg"
1. When I press the shortcut, Siebel asks for my credentials.
2. Type in logon Id and password
3. Dedicated Client starts in IE. URL is http://localhost/start.swe
4. Siebel Application starts and the siebel homepage is shown in IE.
--> So everything OK
Using the IE Standbox Browser (just the /b parameter is different):
Shortcut: C\APP\SIA\Client_81110\BIN\siebel.exe /b "C:\Workarea\SiebelApps Thinapp_V2\Internet Explorer8.exe" /c "C:\APP\SIA\Client_81110\bin\deu\zkbconnect_eng1.cfg"
1. When I press the shortcut, Siebel asks for my credentials.
2. Type in logon Id and password
3. Dedicated Client starts in IE. URL is http://localhost/start.swe
4. Siebel is unable to load the homepage. We get a connection error instead. "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"
--> NOK
We actually just want the Dedicated Client to start with a differen browser. But this failes for unknown reasons. As you mentioned we tried to renaming the exe-File so that it would not contain spaces. Unfortunatly it did not help.
The client log files doesn't show any connection error on debug level 5. So we have no idea what could be the problem is.
Our windows team is currently analysing the registry files in the sandbox to check if there is a problem. If they get me new information I will post this in the thread.
Kind Regards,

Load balancing of web servers in Siebel Analytics v 7.7.1?
Hi Experts,
Can we load balance the Webservers in Siebel Analytics 7.7.1 version? If Yes, can you please give me the steps how to setup this?
Thanks,
MadhukarHello Mr. Tripathi ,
Option 2 is the more typical way to increase capacity. Of course you can also increase capacity by simply adding additional server nodes to a single instance. if you are trying avoid downtime due to loss of one of the application servers, option 2 will still work. Just because the primary application server goes down does not mean the secondary will become unavailalbe. There are some cases where the secondary server could be interrupted, such as if the jms provider was on the primary instance, but there is an automatic fail-over of jms provider and other funcionality such as user sessions.
I think option 2 is the most easy to implement for you. Having 2 seperate systems access the same database could cause some complications with DB locking which are hard to troubleshoot.

Siebel 8 and Siebel Analytics 7.8
Hi,
We are planning to upgrade Siebel Marketing 7.8 application to Siebel 8.
There is also Siebel Analytics 7.8.4 application integrated with Siebel Marketing.
Question: is Siebel Analytics 7.8.x version supported in Siebel 8 or it is required to upgrade it to OBIEE 10?
Thanks in advance for your answersI would recommend you speak to Oracle directly about this rather than seek help here.

Thanks a lot~According to Supportweb, this error is benign and can be ignored.
You should have the option to continue.

To setup new siebel testing environment in windows
Hi all,
I am new to siebel server administation.
Planning to setup current Siebel development setup in new test environment. Whether it is possible to setup new test environment same like development. If yes, for this what are files required from development environment? Please help on this.
Thanks,
sj1. install siebel
2. compare the components and copy and create any custom components from Dev (dont forget to compare the parameters ex. max tasks, min tasks, config file etc)
3. copy these files from Dev
siebsrvr/object/enu/siebel_sia.srf (or siebel.srf depends on which version siebel you are trying to setup)
siebsrvr/webtempl/*anyCustomerWebtemplCreatedinDev*
siebsrvr/webmaster/enu/files
siebsrvr/webmaster/enu/images
compare the default parameters for eapps.cfg on both the servers.
the directory structure I have shown is from solaris, but this should be similar in windows except for "\". -
Weblogic Integration WLI adapters for Siebel
To integrate with Siebel and Oracle EBS, earlier version of WLI (8.2 & 9) had adapters available with it, but the latest version of WLI 10.2 does not have the adapters.
Can we know what should be the recommended and supported mechanism of integration with Siebel and Oracle EBS for synchronous request response scenarios?Krish,
You can build a JMS/TIBCO adapter and deploy it on any J2EE CA compliant container.
Pros:
Your adapter can be deployed on any compliant application server (including WLS).
Cons:
The J2EE CA 1.0 specification is very limited when it comes to EAI. It does not
address bi-directional communication (EIS events), asynchronous service invocation
and implementing javax.resource.cci interfaces is not mandatory (these are what come
to mind first, there are others). So, if you don't use WLI, you can't take
advantage of our value added features. TIBCO may have extended JCA as well, I don't
know.
Summary:
If your adapter just sticks to what is specified in the JCA spec, you have total
autonomy, however, you have limited EAI capabilities. If you use the proprietary
extensions provided by a particular vendor (BEA WLI, TIBCO, etc...) then you are
tied the their environment. Until the J2EE Connector Architecture addresses these
EAI issues, you will run into proprietary EAI solutions.
Cheers,
Chris
Krish Khambadkone wrote:
Can one implement an EAI solution with only the weblogic server. There is a need
to interface with TIBCO. Is it mandatory that one use Weblogic Integration for
integration or can we build a JMS/TIBCO adapter and deploy it on just weblogic.
What are the Pros and Cons.

Greetings Siebel experts,
At this time, the version of Siebel that we use is version 7.8 and is currently not compatible with any other web browser except for IE 7 and IE8. We are looking to go mobile and my question would be is there any plug in or a way to use Siebel on a tablet and if not, will there be an update to allow this?
Thanks in advance. :)The company I consult for used Siebel SI. SI for 8.1 is actually not bad. I suggest you have a second look if you have only seen the 7.8 version.
That said, I also found that web-based apps just aren't as enticing as native apps. No matter how fast the data connection is, there is always still a lag in repainting the screens. I have tried using iQTouch to spice up Siebel Wireless, but it still wasn't slick enough for me.
A partner and I created a native iPhone app: http://wentari.blogspot.ca/2012/02/ropefree-iphone-app-for-siebel-release.html . You can check out the video and there's a link to the app store.
We did this in our spare time. If there is demand, we may take it further. What makes our approach interesting is that the app does not require any back end integration. I looked at using the REST API but that required setting up a Weblogic instance.

Siebel 7.5.3-end of sustaining
Hi
I have a customer who has a Siebel active support contract for version 7.5.3. Sustaining expired in December and the customer logged an SR (prior to sustaining expiration) to upgrade to 8.1.
My question is, can we solve this request? Sustaining is indeed expired but the request was done prior to expiration. Also the customer has active support.
Thank you
MihaelaHi
It depends on how you authenticate your users. If you use Active Directory (AD) the user will end up on the view "Change Password View (SWE)" if the AD reports back that the password has expired. The User can then change the password from this view.
