  • TI 1394 signed driver only works when driver signing enforcement disabled (Windows 8.1)

    I have a Texas Instruments firewire card installed under Windows 8.1.  It was working perfectly until recently and now I get a "code 10" in the device manager.  It displays as a signed driver when I reinstall it so it should work fine.
    However, if I do an advanced reboot with "Disable driver signature enforcement" the driver then seems to work correctly.
    Is this a Windows 8.1 bug or a driver bug, and does this mean I have to do an advanced reboot every time I want to use my Motu 828mk3 audio device?

    Can't see the Enabled flag for the... err Enabled flag

    Hi,
    I cannot find any information about this device in compatibility center, you should contact the device manufacturer to confirm if this driver is designed for Windows 8.1.
    Although, we can do some additional analysis about your question.
    We can try to go into the  %Windir%\Inf folder, when third-party driver installed,
    the .inf is renamed to Oemxx.inf (where xx is a sequential number) to make sure that there are no name conflicts with drivers that are included with the product and with other third-party drivers. You can check it one by one, find the right file to get
    catalog file, it should be xxx.cat, when you get the catalog file name, you can search this file in windows folder.
    To do those actions, is just to confirm if  this driver is ok, double-click the .cat file | View Signature | View Certificate | Certification Path and note the highest certificate in the chain. If the result is Microsoft Root Authority,
     we need check setupapi.dev.log, there might be some clue about this issue. You can upload it in forum.

  • Sign tools disabled after applying extended features to document.

    I have a form that I need to be able to save date typed into the fillable fields and I also need to sign this document.  I need to sign the document using the sign tools panel, so that I can apply a ink signature and use the Signed. Proceed to Send feature.  This way I can save a flattend copy of the form after it has been filled in and signed.  If I do not enable extended features I am able to use the Sign tools paned, but I am not able to save a copy.  If I enable extended features, I can not use the Sign tools panel and can only sign from the Extended tools.  The problem is this takes away the ability to use the Signed. Proceed to Send feature.  When I click on the Sign tool button I get a warning telling me "The security setting on this document prevents adding and/or placing a signature on it from Adobe Reader."
    I don't need to use the digital signature feature, I need to be able to have three people apply a ink signature to a form, and then be able to flatten the form.

    I use the forms to document training for 8 people on a weekly basis.  Which is why I need to be able to save a copy of the form.  The document then needs to be signed by the student, the supervisor, and myself.  From there the document gets efiled, but it needs to be stored in a flattened state.  So the Save a copy after the "Signed. Proceed to Send" allows me to save a flattened copy.  On the computer I use to have the form signed I do not have Acobrat Pro installed so I do not have the option of flattening the document by choosing the save to pdf from the print screen.

  • My apple is sign is disabled?

    IMHO apple I'd is disabled, I have been on hold for 20 Min. Any suggestions?

    You might be able to re-enable it via this page : http://appleid.apple.com, then 'reset your password'
    If it then works on your computer's iTunes but not your iPad then try logging out of your account on the phone by tapping on your id in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores on iOS 6) and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on it
    If that doesn't fix it then you might need to contact iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

  • HOWTO: Create a Boot Configuration That Has No Driver Signature Checks. Disable Driver Integrity Checks and Install a Custom Non-Signed Driver

    Hello,
    Recently, I had a task where I needed to install a custom non-signed driver onto my Windows 8 64-bit setup. As it is known, Windows has driver enforcement policies that, as a security measure, do not allow you to install non-signed drivers.
    I did not want to alter my current boot configuration so I decided to create a separate boot entry that would have driver signing policies disabled. For some reason I did not find any good source that would contain a step-by-step instruction on completing
    this task, so I decided that I'd better share my experience here.
    Lastly, there are multiple ways how you could turn off driver enforcement policies, but I find the way to do this via boot manager.
    Here's how you can do that.
    1. Press WindowsKey and type 'cmd' (without quotes) to find Command prompt, then click Command prompt icon. If you have User Account Control turned on, hold Ctrl+Shift keys pressed when clicking the icon.
    This will force Windows to ask you for elevation of command prompt. Elevation is necessary for editing Boot Configuration Database (BCD), the database used by Windows boot manager to store boot settings.
    2. In the User Account Control window click Yes to confirm elevation of command shell.
    3. At the command prompt type
    bcdedit
    to list your BCD entries.
    This will give you an output like:

    The section that starts with Windows Boot Manager lists current settings for the boot menu. Here you find what boot entry is chosen by default, this is the one what you will boot into if you do not select any boot entry in the
    boot menu.
    The following record
    default {current}
    indicates that by default my Windows boots into configuration which I use at the moment (currently booted Windows configuration).
    To find out what exactly is current configuration, look into the list of boot entries, records that contain boot loader configuration and are titled as Windows Boot Loader in the bcdedit output.
    For example, the entry shown above is one of my boot configurations. This is one of the boot entries listed on the boot manager screen when I start my PC and it looks like:
    Windows Boot Loader
    identifier {a329b5d0-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240}

    This record has a unique GUID identifier that can be used to reference this boot entry, which is:
    identifier {a329b5d0-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240}
    If we look at the Windows Boot Manager settings, we'll see this entry is the first in order to be displayed in the boot menu on OS start (I marked the unique bits):
    displayorder {a329b5d0-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240}
    {a329b5cc-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240}
    It references my VHD drive, a virtual hard drive where my Windwos 8 setup is residing:
    device vhd=[D:]\win8prowmc01.vhdx
    And it also specifies that the boot manager must use UEFI BIOS extension code to access my Windows boot partition:
    path \EFI\Microsoft\Boot\bootmgfw.efi
    3. Now locate the current boot entry.
    Current boot entry contains boot settings used to boot into Windows configuration to which you are currently booted. It is referenced in the list of boot entries as a Windows Boot Loader record that has the {current} keyword inside and may
    look like:
    Windows Boot Loader
    identifier {current}
    device vhd=[D:]\win8rtm.vhdx
    path \Windows\system32\winload.efi
    description Windows 8 Enterprise RTM

    Because we are more than happy with current configuration and want to base our new boot configuration on these settings, we need to copy this boot entry ({current}) to a new boot entry.
    This is done by running the following command:
    C:\Windows\system32>bcdedit /copy {current} /d "No Driver Signature Check"
    Parameter /d here indicates that the following sequence of characters specifies the display name for the new boot entry that we are creating. The name inside the double quotes will be displayed in the boot menu when you boot your Windows.
    In other words, if you know restart your system, you'll see the new No Driver Signature Check in the boot menu.
    When copied, the entry is automatically given a new GUID identifier, so upon running the command above, you'll see the following line returned (you'll have an other GUID since these are unique identifiers):
    The entry was successfully copied to {a329b5d8-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240}.
    4. Make sure the entry has been successfully created.
    Run the same bcdedit. (You may specify /enum or /v, or both /enum /v parameters at the prompt to get more detail about boot entries, but simple bcdedit is just enough to see the new entry):
    C:\Windows\system32>bcdedit

    The entry has been created and given a unique a329b5d8-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240 ID. It now has exactly same boot settings as the boot entry we used to boot into current configuration of Windows.
    5. Modify created  No Driver Signature Check entry and specify that Windows must have driver integrity checks disabled when booted using this boot entry.
    Any modifications to boot entries are made using /set parameter. To indicate that we modify a specific boot entry, we must specify the GUID for the No Driver Signature Check record, which is:
    identifier {a329b5d8-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240}
    In other words, to edit (add or change) an option for the boot entry, we need to use the following command syntax:
    C:\Windows\system32>bcdedit /set GUID <boot_option> [<option_value>]
    First, we must specify that we don't want integrity checks be made. This is done by adding the loadoptions option and setting it to DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS value:
    C:\Windows\system32>bcdedit /set {a329b5d8-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240} loadopti
    ons DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
    The operation completed successfully.
    6. Verify that load option has been added.
    Run the bcdedit command:
    Windows Boot Loader
    identifier {current}
    device vhd=[D:]\win8rtm.vhdx
    path \Windows\system32\winload.efi
    description Windows 8 Enterprise RTM

    7. Add the option that turns on test signing mode and disables checks of driver signature.
    Adding the testsigning option and setting it to ON does the trick for us:
    C:\Windows\system32>bcdedit /set {a329b5d8-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240} TESTSIGNING ON
    8. Now we have a boot entry that enables Windows not to do integrity checks and digital signature validation.
    We check it by running bcdedit:
    Windows Boot Loader
    identifier {a329b5d8-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240}
    device vhd=[D:]\win8rtm.vhdx
    path \Windows\system32\winload.efi
    description No Driver Signature Check
    locale en-US
    loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
    inherit {bootloadersettings}
    recoverysequence {a329b5c3-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240}
    integrityservices Enable
    recoveryenabled Yes
    testsigning Yes
    isolatedcontext Yes
    allowedinmemorysettings 0x15000075
    osdevice vhd=[D:]\win8rtm.vhdx

    nx OptIn
    bootmenupolicy Standard
    hypervisorlaunchtype Auto
    9. Type 'exit' without quotes to exit from command prompt, and restart Windows.
    Upon booting you will be present with a new boot option to start Windows in configuration that allows you to install custom non-signed drivers.
    Hope this will help anybody to create their own custom boot configurations.

  • Fill & sign greyed out but same pdf on different pc is signable

    Hello,
    I'm having strange issue with sign process, we have  the same PDF sent to several users.
    All are running last update for Reader XI.
    Some users have the fill&sign option disabled and signing property is not allowed.
    Same document sent to other user is siging allowed and all works fine.
    We already tried several options  (new save as/ reinstall reader / recreate new main doc)  but for these users is not possible to sign PDF
    Any advice how to troubleshoot deeper?
    Thanks

    I know mostly digital (PKI-certificate-based) signatures. I cannot expertly advise on other signature types. It is possible that the form that you had, had an expiration date on it (was Reader-extended with a certificate that expired after a certain date). That might explain why your co-worker was able to sign and you weren't, if you got the unsigned copy from her and not from the same source where she got it. If you got not the same copy but from the same source, you may have gotten a copy with the signing already disabled. The other possibility is that the form might execute comminications with the author's server to get authorization to sign and that authorzation failed. There are many ways a form can be constructed that cause this behaviour. Since you know that the document's author disabled signing the question is now moot and I do not see why we should speculate on a possible reason.

  • Cannot digitally sign documents created with Adobe Acrobat X 10.1.4

    The document is created using Acrobat X 10.1.4 Standard
    I save it as an Extended PDF.  Signing is verified as being allowed.
    When I open the file in Reader, signing is disabled.
    This worked just fine 2 months ago.  What changed?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated...

    Unfortunately, Acrobat Standard does not include the digital signature usage right when it Reader-enables a document. You'll need Acrobat Pro for that. Note that it shows in Acrobat that signing is allowed, but it won't show the same thing in Reader. That's because signing is allowed in Acrobat unless restrictions are in place.

  • Why is my 'SIGN' panel greyed out in X1 Pro  11.0? - 'signing' IS 'allowed' in permissions...

    Hi guys.  So i have been sent a PDF to sign and return by E-mail.  The problem is, the 'sign' panel is 'greyed' out, so i am unable to.
    I checked permissions and signing is 'allowed' for this document.
    Must i enable additional features?
    [There is no red arrow at the signature line.]
    I have a scanned signature ready to go on my PC.
    All the help videos on this subject are for earlier versions, that have different menus, so they are of little help.
    Even if you don't know what the problem is, if i knew how to 'enable additional features' that would be a start.

  • [Solved] Using pacman's package signing correctly

    When pacman 4 first came out, I just merged the pacnew file so that package signing was disabled. I did initialise the keys etc. but I didn't import or sign the master keys or enable signature checks.
    So tonight I figured I would start seeing how this worked. I took the fingerprints from the master key list on archlinux's site and I checked they matched the fingerprints listed on Allan's blog. I then imported the five master keys using pacman-key, signed them locally and used --edit-key to assign each of the five marginal trust.
    I then commented out the "Never" line for package signing in pacman.conf so that it would use the compiled in default to make signatures optional but check them if available. I also set PackageRequired for the core repository.  I left the other repos I have enabled to default to the default policy as I think signing isn't complete for them.
    I then ran pacman -Syu. This mostly went OK but I'm slightly worried about this bit:

    I initially thought I was just telling pacman to import the keys but now I'm wondering if I also told it to trust them and if I wasn't meant to do that? Should they have been automatically handled if they were signed correctly? I was trying to follow the instructions on Allan's blog which show this question and Allan answering yes. However, I now realise that I got confused and that that bit comes *before* Allan imports and trusts the master keys, but I'd already done that at this point. (But it didn't complain they were untrusted once imported...)
    Could somebody either reassure me that I did this correctly (securely)? Or advise me on how to undo it if that's what I should do?

    I followed Allan's guide on page
    http://allanmcrae.com/2011/12/pacman-pa … rch-linux/
    and pacman -Syu gave:
    error: xorg-bdftopcf: signature from "Allan McRae <[email protected]>" is marginal trust
    Which is suprising as his key is one of master keys. Currently several master keys were revoked.
    Based on GPG's output it is maybe requires some additional input to mark the revoked key as trusted:

    gpg gives this:

      3 = I trust marginally

    Why is the message app popping up on my mac when everything has been disabled on my iphone and mac as per the instructions all over this forum, I use my phone for messages, not my mac. Is this a bug? I just want it off my mac forever!
    Have disabled in Messages > preferences on the Mac
    imessage is disabled on my iphone
    Same goes for Safari which pops up on the mac when I open it on my iphone, how can I disable it all?

    Thanks but have signed out, disabled and nothing.
    It's Yosemite not Mavericks.
    What it won't let me do is delete the account as the - button is greyed
    out.
    It won't let me delete the app from the OS

  • JavaScript for completely locking pdf after digitally signing

    I currently use both Abobe Acrobat XI and Livecycle Designer ES4.
    When i want to add the option to completely lock down a document after digitally signing (inc disabling of the 'clear signature' option) i execute javascript within the properties of the digital signature which works fine no problem.
    Im lead to believe that Livecycle will remove any scripting from a pdf created within acrobat as it uses its own flavour so to speak.
    My question is, does anybody know what the Livecycle equivalent is to have the option of locking after signing (as image) and disable the 'clear signature' feature post signing?
    Any feedbcak is appreciated.

    Not sure where your pic is from.  But in LC Designer you can specify what you want locked after signing.

  • The new creative cloud libraries in Photoshop and Illustrator CC won't connect. Any suggestions?

    In both Illustrator CC and Photoshop CC I get the same message. "Sorry, we couldn't connect to the server. Using retry does no good. I am signed in in both Illustrator and Photoshop.

    Thanks for the info, but none of those solutions seem to apply here. I am using an iMac with 16 gigs of RAM, running OS 10.9.5 Mavericks. Shouldn't matter what browser I am using (Safari) as this problem is within Photoshop CC and Illustrator CC. Here is a screen shot from Photoshop.
