Sign In to this forum

After several attempts to sign in I finally broke the code and disabled my firewall. Now I can post to this forum and probably search other things. I am not comfortable with running firewall disabled and
will probably not do so in the future. All the information I got previously was useless about make sure my browser accepted cookies. How about updates to the WEB that explains firewalls in addion to cookies is part of the log in problem? And what are the options available for those of us that feel secure behind a firewall? Regards, L Eastridge....

I'm signed on while using ZoneAlarm. Although I do agree with you that network configuration is frustrating and unrewarding and I am glad I get to work with software instead.

  • Signing in to this forum

I think I used to be able to sign in and come straight to this forum. Now I have to go to the general Discussions, pick OS X>Using Mac OS X. Is there any easier way? My bookmark takes me to this forum, but once I sign in, I'm kicked back.
    Thanks,
    Allan

Apple has been doing some maintenance to fix a few "bugs" in the forum software, but sometimes new or repeat ones creap back in. It has done as you described in the past. Just put up with it & it will be fixed.
If you post your comment in the Discussions Feedback @ http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1076 it's more likely to be seen by a forum moderator.

  • How do I stay signed in on this forum?

Do I always need to sign in or is there a way to automatically sign in every time I showed up to this forum? Something like Google chrome that remembers passwords would be great!

Saw your thread about fonts... Been using Suitcase for about 15 years, great app. Best thing is not to add to many fonts to the OS. Use an app like Suitcase and have the fonts in a folder either in your documents folder or external hard drive. Suitcase only links to the fonts...
I also use only external fonts and never add anything to the OS folders. And when I load a font collection into Font Book (I need to browse my fonts somehow), I deactivate all of them and then only use a few that I need. But the main problem now is that Font Book just shows fonts as Active, although they are all really not active, and I cannot manage my fonts any more. The other problem is that Snow Leopard cannot read Lithuanian non-unicode fonts with the normal keyboard layout and that's something that probably cannot be fixed. It all makes me want to go back to Leopard again...
I will try to use Suitcase trial and see if it makes my life any better...

  • Why can't I stay 'signed In' on this forum?

......................this does sometimes happen, though, if I have started a subject or taken part in a discussion but nearly always when visiting this forum I have to sign in almost every time, which is a pain, to be honest. Almost all other forums to which I subscribe (a few exceptions) keep you logged in unless you log out.

I agree. Fortunately my iPad mini has an auto fill function.
It is one of very few forums that doesn't allow me to stay logged in.
Perhaps this could be changed as other lithium forums do allow me to stay logged in.

  • Trouble signing into this forum

If I go to this page on this forum (http://community.vzw.com/t5/DROID-RAZR-by-Motorola/bd-p/RAZR) and click on the Sign In right above the list of messages,  the sign in page it takes me to rejects my Username and password, saying the combination are not correct and won't let me sign in.   But if, from this same page on this forum,  I click on the Sign In in upper right corner (in the red header) it works fine except it takes me to page listing other forums but I can navigate back here and post.   This is a pain on my pc but on my RAZR the screen for this forum is different and the sign in acts like the non-red header one and rejects my login.
Can anyone explain this to me?

Was able to sign in. Thanks anyways...
    Sly

  • Firstly please fix the freaking login redirect loop to sign in to the forums in Safari and Chrome particularly... This is IMMENSELY frustrating!

I think the title is self explanatory...

Although I prefer FF,  when FF gives me trouble, I switch to Chrome and it works just fine on this forum. No loops with the log-ins for me.
Are you running any browser add-ons?
Are Ad Blockers turned on? Try turning them off.
Have you disabled Cookies?  Try turning them on.
EDIT.  JavaScript is essential to use this forum.  If it's disabled, you won't get very far.

Hi! We tested the issue on HTC ONE M8 device and couldn’t reproduce the issue ourselves. Did you experience the issue while you logged in the first time after installing Skype on your device? Could you please give more details about this issue – exact steps how to reproduce that, Skype version number, exact OS version, network type? You can find more details about specifics we need to know from here: http://community.skype.com/t5/Android/How-to-create-a-good-Android-issue-report/td-p/211384.

  • How to sign in to the forum using Firefox w/ NoScript

Apparently this site uses "suspicious cross-site POST requests" according to NoScript in Firefox.
Until this changes, you'll need to tweak the NoScript settings a little in order to be able to sign into your community.vzw.com account with NoScript XSS sanitizing enabled.  (I'll assume you've already allowed scripts from vzw.com and/or lithium.com - I'm pretty sure you'll need those enabled in order to use the forums at all)
    1) Open your NoScript options in Firefox:
    Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions (tab) -> NoScript -> Options
    2) In the NoScript options click the "Advanced" tab.
    3) In the advanced tab click the "XSS" sub-tab.
    4) In the "Anti-XSS Protection Exceptions" text box on the "XSS" tab add the following line:
    5) Click OK and then close the Add-ons window.
    6) Close your tab/window for community.vzw.com and try again.
    7) If this doesn't work you may also need to delete any cookies you have from vzw.com and/or close Firefox all together and try again.
Details on the problem, how I identified it, and how I came across this solution
For the past two days I've been trying to get my community.vzw.com account setup and running and no matter what I tried, I would always end up on a screen that said my user name and password was invalid.  To add to the confusion I was able to reset my password on the account using the "Forgot username/password" link and it STILL wouldn't work.
Then I noticed that for a split second right after I press the enter key to login there is a small notification bar at the top of the browser window.  It goes away too fast to read, but I was able to notice the "NoScript" icon on the bar before it disappeared.  So, I enabled scripts globally in NoScript and STILL had the same problem.  Disabling/Removing NoScript all together fixed the problem and I was able to login.  Of course that's not an acceptable solution, but at least I knew for sure that the problem was being caused by NoScript now.
Recalling past situations with sites not playing well with NoScript I remembered that there were NoScript messages logged in the Firefox error console (Tools -> Error console) when some actions are blocked.  So, I enabled NoScript again, tried to login, opened the error console and sure enough, there's a message saying:
    [NoScript XSS] Sanitized suspicious upload
    to [https://signin.verizon.com/sso/authsso/forumLogin.jsp<some data here>]
    from [http://www22.verizon.com/content/sso/signin.aspx?<some more data here>]:
transformed into a download-only GET request.
So, I took the URL from the "to ..." section of the message and entered it into the equivalent regular expression into the exceptions and tada!  It worked!  I can now sign into the community forums and still have the protection of NoScript to keep me safe from other sites.
    Enjoy!

Wow!  What a nice description of the issue you are having and resolution steps!  I have also passed this along to our IT folks to have a look.
Thank you for being so thorough I am sure there are others that may run into this!

  • Are the [expletive deleted] at Adobe doing anything to improve this forum?

We were informed some time back by an Adobe representative that frequents this forum that he would look into why we keep having to login each time we revist the forum.
Although we have this 'tick to remember your details' box on the login page it never works. Now I am finding when I login I then get logged out for no reason but still says I'm logged in.
I keep getting an 'internal server error' jump up on my screen.
This forum software is complete [expletive deleted] Either supply your customers with something reliable and user-friendly that actually works of get rid of it completely - bunch of [expletives deleted].

JIve absolutely DOES NOT have access you your AdobeID account. That's why the SSI process is complicated - you sign in on the secure adobe.com server, then your verified session is passed over to Jive's network using a chain of session cookies. All Jive can see is your userID, name and email address (the stuff shown in your forums profile) - not your password, bank info, etc.
    mytaxsite.co.uk wrote:
These forums are managed by Jive and so it must be a security nightmare for them to have access to people's personal data including credit cards and bank info!!!
Adobe made a policy decision that all services will be accessed via AdobeIDs - that goes for websites, SaaS subscriptions and product activations. It's done for perfectly valid reasons - for example if a customer asks a question in the forum about a purchase, Customer Care can immediately pull up the order history as they can search for the forum user's email address (which is unique to an AdobeID, so the forum user must be the same person). Since we switched to AdobeID logins, hundreds of people have been helped this way with activations, lost serials, etc. so it's not going to change back.

  • Windows Live Mail ?   Links to this forum not working correctly.

I got a new computer running Windows 7 and have been using Windows Live Mail.
This is where I get my e-mails for updates to messages on this forum.
The link for the message thread has a link that includes the # sign with the correct message to go to on the page.
Now with Windows Live when I click the link it leaves the number after the # sign and just goes to the top of the thread instead to the exact comment.
I can copy and paste the link into a browser and it works fine but if I just click it it does not work like it used to with Outlook Express.
Any ideas if this might be fixable.
    Thanks:  GLenn

I still have outlook express running on my OLD SLOW windows XP
My new Windows 7 only has Windows Live Mail so I have to use it unless I get another program.
I just thought that someone here might have figured it out.
I dont know what the extra part after the # sign is called so i havent been luck searching google for an answer.
Here is the link to your message:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2965072#2965072
but when I click it it just puts this link in the browser:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2965072
it does work but just takes me to the top of the thread.
Im not sure why it doesnt use the part with the # and number that follows it.
It does see it and if hover over it it sees the whole link.
Just something new to figure out.
I will try a Windows Live Forum too but if anyone knows any hints that would be great too.
    Thanks:  GLenn

This forum is held together by sticky tape and wire from the sounds of the posts over in the general forum area (which is probably where you wanted to post this comment, more than here, but you have been beaten to it by a long way: error signing in
As a tip, I find killing the browser and starting it again usually does the trick usually within 5 - 10 attempts :)
