Sign pdf and submit without saving locally?

We have a site license for Acrobat Pro 8. We've developed a dynamic online form with a submit button on it which posts back the server. The form is opened in Acrobat 8, not the web browser (by configuration, since we have to save the entire pdf and not just the form fields)
The idea is for people to sign the form and submit it back so it will be saved. That works. We have two problems:
- immediately upon signing, people are prompted to save the pdf locally. That distracts them, they forget to submit, etc. We just want them to sign and submit. Can we turn off local saving when signing?
- after the pdf is submitted to the server, Acrobat captures the response and displays it as a pdf. We'd prefer it didn't. Opening a new window means the user has to close that, and then the form window as well.

It's a post to an aspx page. The page returns some html which is turned into a pdf by Adobe Pro 8 and displayed.
It might be preferable to do this in Reader, but we don't want to Reader enable the form (for $10K) when we already have a site license for pro.

  • Acrobat 8 Pro - Scan and email without saving document

Our office recently upgraded from Acrobat 6 to 8. We frequently scan and email documents to our customers around the world, but there is no need to save these documents on our computers.
In Acrobat 6 we followed these steps and were very happy....
    1.Click CREATE PDF
2.Select FROM SCANNER (Acrobat scanning pop up menu then comes up)
    3.Click SCAN
4.The HP scanner menu would pop up and we could make additional adjustments (quality, paper size, etc.) before clicking the scan button on the HP menu to start scanning.
    5. The newly scanned documents are then shown in Acrobat and can be emailed. From this point you can also choose to save the documents to your computer, but most of the time in our particular office the documents are just for one time use and do not need to be saved.
With Acrobat 8 we are having a problem in step 3 from above. Once "scan" is clicked, we are prompted to name and save the documents we are about to scan in a desired location on our computers. Is there anyway to scan and email without saving the document in Acrobat 8? It would be a real time saver if we did not have to keep deleting these unnecessary files once they have been emailed. Your help is greatly appreciated!

To email a PDF, it would be an attachment and would have to be saved as a result. Email packages can not e-mail non-existent data.

  • Completing PDF online forms without saving to computer

Is it possible to recieve an online PDF form through email, fill it out, and send it back to the sender without saving it down to my computer first?

    Not really.
The creator of the form could set the form up so the info can be "submitted" which wouldn't require saving but to have the entire form, filled out, sent via email, it would need to be saved.

  • PDF flyer with attached Data Form  how do i upload pdf and submit data simultaneously?

Scenerio user downloads pdf flyer template with attached data form. user customizes flyer and fills out form. user clicks on custom "Submit" button to send form data to php form.
On submit, how can i upload the pdf flyer to our server AND still send the form data to php form?
maybe the local file(pdf) address is sent to the php form along with the form data, then i can use php to upload the file automatically.
    any sugguestion???

    Hi Mr AP,
are you trying to do this in Reader or in Acrobat? If you're using Reader it won't work unless the form is reader-extended by either LC Reader Extensions on the server or by running it through Acrobat manually and extend the capabilities of the form for reader users (careful - the license of the latter is limited to 500 form recipients).
If you did try it in Reader with a non-extended form the behaviour you'd see is that it just won't work, so that might be your issue.
    Cheers

  • Excel to pdf and back without losing formatting

I have created an Excel spreadsheet to become a fillable form and have to add new information to the original excel file that is to be included on the fillable form. How do I do this without losing all of the work I created on the fillable form ie text, check, radio buttons and formatting of fields

    Hi,
You may open that converted pdf form in Acrobat.
Go to > Tools > Forms > Edit.
Then make changes you would like to add for form fields.  And if you want to Edit text. Toos> Content Editing.

  • Cannot open pdf attachments anymore without saving them

I cannot open PDF files that come in as attachments (Adobe Reader 9) I have had this problem for two days. Before the, it was no problem at all. Now, for me to open an attachment, I have to save it first and then open it via My computer or via Adobe Reader and file open. The file association is there, set FOR Adobe Reader to open all pdf files. So what is the problem? It is a time consuming pain to have to save an attachment just to open it.
    Thanks

thanks for the suggestion...I was sure it was going to work, but it didn't...when I restarted after performing the fix, the problem is still there...

  • System shuts down and restarts without saving data

Hi, I've had my MacBook Pro for over 2.5yrs and have almost no issues with it until recently.
This morning when I sat down to work my system kept shutting down on its own every 25-30mins and would restart too. I keep losing all my data and kept having to start over. This has never happened before.
    Pls help!
P.S.: I dont know if this info helps, but I just started using my new 85W MagSafe charger, since my old charger conked off recently. The charger seems like its original except I had to connect it to my old adapter since the new charger's head doesnt fit into any of my available switch boards.  Oh and the left side of the laptop and (the box part of) the charger very quite hot when the system switched off.
I read in one of the Apple discussions that it maybe a hardware issue and to run a hardware diagnostic test at start up. But although i tried to run the test by pressing and holding 'D' key before the grey screen appears at startup, nothing seemed to happen and the system started up normally.

It's possible that the new charger is defective or that the magsafe board in the computer itself is failing. You said your old charger failed, what made you think so?
The easiest thing to do is take both the MBP and the charger into the Genius Bar if you can. The eval is free. If it's the charger, they'll replace it. If not, at least they can tell you what the problem is. This is a genuine Apple charger, right?

  • Form for my visitors to fill them out and submit them via email

Hello, I need to have several forms in my website and allow my visitors to fill them out and submit them via email, can I use FormCentral?
    This is my website:
    http://aiiav.org/cemetary/forms/
    Thank you
    Juan Pulido

    Hi;
    You could certainly use FormsCentral.
FormsCentral allows you to easily create forms that you can distribute either using a web form with a "Submit" button that sends the data back to FormsCentral and is available in your account for you to view and analyze, or you can also distribute the form as a PDF.  The PDF can have a FormsCentral "Submit" button that (same as with the web form) sends the data back to FormsCentral, or can be saved without a Submit button allowing you to add your own Submit button using Acrobat which could be an "Email" submit button (which would email you the form data or the entire PDF).
If you chose "web forms" you could embed the form into your website for users to fill out right there and submit without having to send via email.  You could have links to each embedded form on your site.
Here is an overview of FormsCentral, I'd be happy to answer any follow up questions: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-1413
One note if you were to use PDF - your current PDF forms are set to open in the web browser.  If you used FormsCentral PDF forms you would want to have a link that downloads the PDF to the users computer so they can fill out in Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader, filling out in the web browser, or with any other PDF viewer does not work correctly and is not supported.  You would want to call that out on the download page to ensure users fill out in Adobe Reader.
    Thanks,
    Josh

  • Submit signed pdf form to url returns to local view of url

    Hello,
I am currently using Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8, Adabe Acrobat 9 Pro and Adobe Reader 9.
I want to make a form that can be filled and signed with Reader. I created the form with the the designer and added a submit button that sends the page to a URL. I send the page as an PDF to the url.
I can create the form so far no problem. I also can make it fillable in the Reader. Filling in the form and signing in the Reader also works fine but when I perform the submit the result page in the browser isn't the url specified in de settings of the button.
The url is something like this: C:\Users\jt\AppData\Local\Temp\A9R9D46.htm
The content of the page is the one from the web page specified in the url where de PDF is submitted to but it has to be show in the specified location and not local in a temporary html file.
Does anyone know how I can go to the url specified in the submit button not locally but on the actual web page.
    Thanks for any suggestions!

Acrobat Pro allows users to export the form data a number of different ways. For example, in Acrobat 7, use the menu item "Advanced > Forms > Export Data from Form...". There are also various JavaScript methods that allow one to export a data file (e.g., exportAsFDF).

  • Is there a format for at PDF form that can be filled out, saved locally and edited continually afterwards?

    hello
on the html-based form http://www.samtaleterapi.com/oversigter/psykoterapi.html there isnt the functionality i want
it can only be filled out and printed
what i want is a form that can be filled out, saved locally on people's own computers, and  and that the local copy can be edited and saved anew continually
    can PDF do this?
can the end users edit and save the form with no other program than adobe reader?
if so, is this a specific format of PDF?
and if so, how do i create it?
    thanks
    rasmus

You can indeed create a PDF form that can be opened, filled out and saved by users of Adobe Reader. It simply requires one of the later versions of Adobe Acrobat. It has a function to enable this ability in PDF's.
The one down side is that there are usage limits (how many times form data can be collected) that you would want to familiarize yourself with in advance to be sure you don't violate the EULA. Exactly how thos limitations work are up to interpretation...

  • Are parts of a pdf document in Adobe Acrobat Pro able to be secured so that once the recipient fills out a specific section, signs it, and submits it to the original sender, that information filled out is locked from editing for security purposes? If so,

I have an application I'm submitting to our school website for potential students to fill out. There are sections for the student(s) to fill out as well as sections for staff to fill out. For the sake of security for the student filling out the form, I'd like to set it up so that once the student has filled out the proper sections and submits the information, any information filled out and signed by the student is locked from editing on my part. I only need to read what the student filled out and signed, then add my notes to Staff sections.  Is this possible? If so, how?  I need details!

You can create a script that will lock the fields before signing. But when you edit the document after the student signs, the signature will no longer be valid and the document will show that it has been changed after signing. Adobe restricts the number of files you can collect information on with forms that can be saved and emailed. The restriction used to be 500 files unless you purchased the appropriate LiveCycle product to enable the pdf files for saving.
Why in the world are you requiring potential students to sign forms. Many students will not know how to sign pdf files. Just have a button that will submit the information to a website for you to extract or to send you the information in an FDF file and import the information form. You can have a button that will lock the fields they fill out. This will ensure you do not have to worry about the 500 file limit.

  • Is it possible to combine multiple pdf's into one without saving them onto your computer?

    Hello
I open pdf's in an application (no add ons for acrobat exist), and want to combine them without having to use time on saving them before merging them into one single document.
Is it possible to do this without having the files saved onto your computer? I use acrobat x pro.

I dont think you understand my question. Of course Adobe reader cant combine pdf's, if it could I would not have had to purchase Adobe acrobat.
The problem I am trying to solve is how to combine pdf files when they are not opened/saved locally on my computer.
If I make Acrobat the standard program for opening pdf files on my computer - then will it be possible to combine the files that are opened without saving them first?
I dont have the program installed on my computer now, and have to know this before we purchase it.

  • Saving report as PDF and text file

Currently, I saved my report as PDF. It opens in Acrobat reader automatically when the report is executed. Is there a way for me to save it as PDF and as a text file at the same time? (without having to open the file in Acrobat reader and saving it)

You can add your PDF and TEXT file formats to a distribution list (Instead of GENERATE REPORT TO A FILE). To do this:
    1. Go to your Object Navigator and highlight your report.
    2. Right click on your report. Select Property Palette.
    3. Select Distribution
    4. You can add of of the formats that you want to print or save to the report to.
    5. You will have to add Distribution Id (any number starting with 1) where you want the file to be saved (c:\my_reports\inventory.pdf), the type of file: PDF and how many copies you want: 2
    6. Click OK after finishing...
To make it work ... You would highlight your report from your Object Navigator and then choose FILE-DISTRIBUTE and this will save it to all the files your specified and/or printer.
