Signature Acrobat 8 vs. Acrobat 9

Hi there, I am  new here and hope you can help me.
"Sorry my English  isn't good , so I hope you understand my questions"
When I sign a PDF in Acrobat 8 my signature will be displayed whit a green  hook and a pencil symbol. When I send this pdf to a colleague of mine, and  he/she sig. this pdf, my signature got a new symbol (a hook and a exclamation  mark) an the the second sig. got the green hook and the pencil symbol.
The sig. notification status from my sig. told me "The revision of the  document that was covered by this signature has not been altered, however, there  have been subsequent changes of this document"     But my signature is still valid.
When I open this document in Acrobat 9, there is no information about  changes?! All sig. are valid but the symbols (hook&pencil) don't be  displayed.
Is there a other security settings in Acrobat 8 about Acrobat 9. Is this a  bug or a feature
Thanx for helping

Hi JR,
Thanks for sending the file.
The problem is the file doesn’t allow for the addition of a second signature, so when you applied signature #2 it invalidated the first signature. I used the “View Signed Version” feature to create a roll-back copy of the file so it only contains the first signature, and I’ve attached the file. Please open the attached file, then select the File > Properties menu item, and then select the Security tab. Note that Changing the Document is set to “Not Allowed”. Although it’s a bit of a generic term, what it really means you cannot create, modify, or delete items on the PDF layer, and when you added the second form field (the field that contains signature #2) it broke the first signature.
In order to author the document correctly, you need to add the required form fields before applying security. As an aside, the signature appearance (what you see in the signature form field, which at its heart is just a special use text field) is not part of the PDF layer, but rather part of the annotation layer, so where you see “Signing: Allowed” on the Document Properties dialog it really means you can add the signature appearance to an existing signature field. It doesn’t mean that you can create a new form field, only that you can sign an existing field.

    Hi,
    The short answer is yes.
Acrobat 8 and later support all of requirements of PAdES such as serial signing, long term validation (time stamping and embedded revocation responses) and signatures in the PKCS#7 format.

  • Appearance of Digital Signature in Adobe Acrobat 8

I am creating a digital Signature in Adobe Acrobat 8 and am having difficulty getting all the information to appear clearly. The first example below shows, the signature, name and date. I would also like to include the name of the Company. The only way I have been able to do that is by clicking the “distinguished name” box in the appearance section of the digital signatures. An example of this signature is also shown below. However, additional information such as the name (again), email and country are also being listed. There are numerous abbreviations and equal signs now appearing as well. Ideally I would like the signature to look like the first one with the company name appearing just above the person’s name. Can anyone help me do this?
    Thank you!

    Hi,
For the first problem (word wrap).  The problem you are encountering is if "Maryanne Doe" is too long to fit in half of the signature field, the text wraps to the next line. The signature appearance that is written into the signature field consists of two halves. The left half contains the graphic properties and the right half contains the text properties.
You need to lengthen the width of the area where the graphics portion of the signature is contained. You can do this one of two way. Either lengthen the physical dimensions of the signature field before you sign. Or, you could create a custom signature appearance where you turn off all of the text properties, which has the effect of giving the whole signature fields over to the graphics portion. To play with custom signature appearances:
Select the Edit > Preferences (Win) or the Acrobat > Preferences (Mac) menu item
Select Security from the Categories list box
Click the New button in the Appearance group box
If you select the No Graphic radio button you give all of the space to the text portion. If you deselect all of the checkboxes in the Configure Text area, you give all of the space to the graphics portion.
While you are in the Preferences dialog, select Identity from the Categories list box. Go ahead and fill in all of the editable fields. This is where the data is procured during the creation of a self-signed digital ID. I think that will fix the second issue you raised.

I want to make an empty signature field in Acrobat Pro X, so that Acrobat Reader users can later sign it. I know how to enable that last part ("extended PDF Reader"), but don't know how to make an empty field.

Is a blank signature field what I need to create if I want my document to be signed by someone else? I am just the editor of the document. I will not officially sign the document. The signature will come from a managment postion. Everytime I try to create a blank signature field though Adobe wants to sign the document with my personal signature.

  • Create Blank Signature Field in Acrobat 9

Looks stupid, but I don't find the way to create blank signature fields in Acrobat 9 pro, I need it to pass the file on so that Reader users can sign it.
To sign and then delete the signature (leaving the blank signature field) is not a valid alternative, this will need to be done by many (not only me).

We want to create an online contract form with different options which will determine different prices as they make their choices. We will also require a legally binding e-signature. Is Acrobat the best product or even an option for this?

You need to use form fields. See the Acrobat help section and this site: https://acrobatusers.com/tutorials/
However, that last part (receiving an automatic response when a form is submitted) has nothing to do with Acrobat, or even with the PDF file. This is something you'll need to set up on your web (or email) server.

There is a check box in the preference (under edit). I have not had great success with this setting, but that is what it is supposed to do. Don't expect it to happen in Chrome that has it's own PDF viewer (or the preview function on a MAC). You might also check the settings for your particular browser.

  • How to disable signature messages in Acrobat forms?

I was using LiveCycle to create and store about 100 forms for my company. Recently I started redoing all the forms in Acrobat Pro v9 so I could use the same field names in merged documents, something I couldn't do with LiveCycle.
Adobe Reader users are complaining about dialogue boxes and menu bar messages directing them to "Click 'Sign' to fill out and sign this form. When done, ou can save a copy by checking 'Done Signing'." There are no signature fields in any of the documents, although Acrobat's form wizard inserted many during the original creation of the document. I removed all signature fields and substituted them for plain text fields. Apparently though, the original signature fields leave behind a remnant that warns users about them ... even though they no longer exist.
What can I do get rid of this warning in the new forms I've created and ensure that signature fields are not inserted when I create new forms using the form wizard?

I'm experiencing a similar problem. I've created an interactive (but not reader-enabled) PDF with form fields and radio buttons using InDesign CS6. When my office distributes this PDF to users for them to fill out, we explain that they must be sure they are using version XI of Adobe Reader if they want to fill out the form and then electronically save it. But this "Click 'Sign'" message is giving people the false impression that they can use version X of Reader. Here is what is happening:
When I open the PDF using Adobe Reader XI, I see a message in a purple banner--"Please fill out the following form. You can save data typed into this form."--which is what I would expect to see. Great!
However, when I open the PDF using Adobe Reader X, I see a message in the purple banner which says, "Click 'Sign' to fill out and sign this form. When you are done you can save a copy by clicking 'Done Signing'." Moreover, when I click into the first form field to begin filling out the PDF, a pop-up appears that says "Form Can Be Filled and Signed Electronically," and also reiterates that "When you are done, you can save a copy by clicking 'Done Signing'." The problem with these messages is it gives our Reader X users the impression that they can fill out the form and then either save a local copy or electronically send (with EchoSign) a copy of the file with their filled-in responses; but since the PDF is not reader-enabled (our cumulative user base would exceed the licensing limit of 500), this is not in fact true. Thus, some of these Reader X users end up filling out the form, clicking the "Sign" tab, clicking the "Signed. Proceed to Send" button, and then sending it to us through EchoSign--and we receive a blank form. Yikes!
It would be ideal if there were some way to prevent that "you can save a copy by clicking 'Done Signing'" message from appearing and misleading our Reader X users. Even if we put verbiage on the PDF to clarify that they cannot "save a copy"--at least, not a copy with any of their responses preserved--it is still confusing for the user to get mixed messages.
I've also tried re-saving the PDF in Acrobat Pro 10.1.9, without any security settings, and then again with password protection and restricting changes allowed to "Filling in form fields and signing existing signature fields" (we have to keep the form fields accessible), but those PDFs behaved in exactly the same way.

  • How do I delete a digital signature in adobe acrobat 8 as it has been spelt incorrectly?

A digital signature was created in adobe acrobat 8 professional but has been spelt incorrectly - how can I delete or edit it?

    What if you do this:
To delete photos from your device
In iTunes, select the device icon in the Devices list on the left. Click the Photos tab in the resulting window.
    Choose "Sync photos from."
On a Mac, choose iPhoto or Aperture from the pop-up menu.
On a Windows PC, choose Photoshop Album or Photoshop Elements from the pop-up menu.
Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
    Click Apply.
But I do not think it will work since you can only sync/unsync with one iTunes library and the iPod sees the rebuilt computer as a new iTunes library.
    - Do the following to restore the iPod and not lose anything:
    - iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
    Copy music
    - If you have synced photos then you need a program like TouchCopy or PhoneView which are paid. They also do music.
    - Connect the iPod to the conmputer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices iniTunes and slect Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup
Note that the backup that iTunes makes does not included synced media like apps and music.

  • How do I remove a digital signature from Adobe Acrobat Pro.  I have set it up wrongly.

I created a digital signature but I wanted to change the signature and it also was not password protected. So I deleted the signature but cannot delete the certificate to set it up again.
    Mac OS X (Operating System)
So I am unable to delete the digital signature in Acrobat Xi pro.
I did the following: Adobe | Preferences | Signatures | Creation and Appearance Preferences and deleted the signature. But Adobe | Preferences | Signatures | Digittal ID and Trusted Certificate Settings, does not want to delete.
    Tank you.

It's not clear to me what you're trying to accomplish. If you get rid of your digital ID you will still be prompted to create/add one when you need to sign a form, which you say you still need to do? Do you really just want to e-sign (hand-drawn signature, or stamp) instead of digitally sign? Do the forms you're using have digital signature fields?

  • Signatures applied with Acrobat 11 appear not valid in Acrobat 9

I've attempted to contact Adobe support about this issue, but they referred me here because the issue is with a previous version of Acrobat.
We use Acrobat Standard 11 to digitally sign documents using Adobe Certified Document Services (CDS) certificates issued by GlobalSign.  Each document has multiple signatures, the first of which is the certifying signature, then the others are approval signatures.  We've followed the Adobe guidelines for applying certificate based signatures (http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/certificate-based-signatures.html) and have not had a problem until recently when a client reported that the signatures are coming up invalid.  When I asked which version of Acrobat they are using, he replied that they have Acrobat 9.
To test, I booted up a VM with Win7 and Acrobat Standard 9 (9.5.5) and was able to reproduce the issue.  I opened the signed PDF in Acrobat 9, and the blue certification ribbon showed and indicated that all signatures are valid.
I opened the signatures panel and clicked the "Validate All" button and all of a sudden, the first (certifying) signature was now marked invalid.
The details of the invalid signature indicated that "there have been changes made to this document that invalidate the signature", but all I did was validate the signatures (they were checked and indicated as valid when the document was opened).
I know this is for an older version of Acrobat, but many of our clients are using version 9 and we'd like to be able to have the signatures appear valid (because they are).  I've spoken with GlobalSign support who has verified that the certificate chain saved within the document is properly linked to the Adobe certifiate for CDS.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Phil

This could be a bug in Acrobat 9. I presume you have "Validate on Open" preference set, so that when you open a signed PDF all signtures are validated. What may happen is that on open the first (certification) signatures is validated but the second signature is not processed yet. When you revalidated all signatures, both signatures were already processed and the second validation detects some incompatibility. There were changes in Acrobat X and XI with respect to signature permissions which may not had been ported back to Acrobat 9.
