Signature script stops until Acrobat is the frontmost application

OS X 10.5.1, Acrobat 8.1.2
I'm signing a document from another application by calling Acrobat with the shell scripting interface:

The Javascript code is straight from the SDK example. It hits the signature function, Acrobat beeps, and then bounces in the dock for attention. If you switch to Acrobat the script continues and finishes correctly. There is no dialog, alert, or anything in the console as to why it stops. The same script worked fine with Acrobat 7.

Go to ~/Library/Preferences and move the com.apple.finder.plist file to the Trash and see if that helps.
The tilde "~" character represents your home folder.
If that doesn't help...
I reinstalled SnowLeopard, have repaired permissions and restarted etc.
Boot from your install disc, run Disk Utility. The startup disk may need repairing.
Insert your install disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
*(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)*
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart
While you have the Disk Utility window open, look at the bottom of the window. Where you see Capacity and Available. *Make sure there is always 10% to 15% free disk space.*

How can I stop two instances of the same application?

I have just installed Yosemite about a week ago on my MacBook Pro mid '10 and it's working great except for one little glitch.
Whenever I double-click on a file in my Finder, not only does it open in the assigned dock Application, but a second instance of the same Application pops up on the dock out of nowhere. To be more clear, I have my PDFs set to Preview. I click on a PDF in my Finder and Preview starts jumping. Out of nowhere, another copy of Preview springs up on the dock and starts jumping as well. This opens that same PDF twice on my screen.
I noticed this also happens when I'm installing a .dmg file. Two installers open at the same time when I double-click the icon.
It doesn't happen if I right-click > Open or right-click > Open With.
Any thoughts?

This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

Home folder stopping me from opening the mail application

Ok this may sound stupid, but what and where is the home folder so tht I can delete documents in it to access the mail application?

Your Home Folder is the one with the icon of a little house, and carries your username. It's in the Dock: its actual location is (hard disk)>Users><username). It contains your Documents, preferences, mail, everything personal to you. However 'delete documents in it to access the mail application' doesn't make any sense. The Mail application is in the Applications Folder. What happens when you double-click on it? Do you get an error message? Does it open?

I was using my Mac and it started flashing white and didn't let me hit any keys or buttons. It didn't stop until I hit the power button on the back of the computer.

I have an iMac with a 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5, a 8 GB memory, and OS X Yosemite, version 10.10.2.
I was wondering if what happened with my computer could be a virus or something else. It's only a few months old and it's never happened before.

It's not a virus. Don't seek a solution for a problem that doesn't exist. Pursuing that option will only lead to real problems.

Assuming that you restarted it and it appears to working properly again, I doubt they will have anything to offer, but you ought to create a case for future reference. It may never happen again, which means you will never know the reason. If it happens again though, even once, insist that Apple fix it.

How can I get the password request to stop popping up in the calendar application?

Recently a password entry text box for my Yahoo.com account started popping up when I open & use the built-in calendar on my iPhone 4s (I recently upgraded to 7.x, but I haven't applied the latest update yet). The text box continues to repeatedly pop up while I'm viewing/changing my schedule & it's really annoying. It continues to pop up even if I put my password in. What should I do to make this stop?

Me too, no widgets or safari extensions. I disabled javascript too. It just popped up while I was trying to figure out an iphoto issue.

When opening fox or any program a help pop up for that program keeps popping up until I close the program( fox, internet explore,...AVG etc )....Can anyone help me get rid of this?

Everytime I turn on my computer a help pop up comes up.When opening any program Fox browser, internet explorer, AVG, etc a help panel opens up. It does not stop until I close the program. I have run AVG and Spybot and it does not fix it.

PST Import to archive mailbox - Stays in queue until i restart the microsoft exchange mailbox replication service

Good Day all,
Stretched dag between site a and site b. Cas array at each site. Mailboxes primarily are located in site a unless there is a major outage then the dag flips to site b. setup two archive databases, one in site A on a non replicated partition
of the dag server and one in site B on a separate mailbox only server.
All exchange servers are patched to the latest sp and rollup.
site a has no issues at all, everything i import queues up and processes with no problems
at site b two imports will process and then stop until i restart the microsoft exchange mailbox replication service on the cas server. No errors no nothing just lots of move request sitting in the queue.
considering i have an insane amount of psts to import there does anyone have any suggestions besides setting up a task to restart the imicrosoft exchange mailbox replication service every 15 minutes?

Yeah I know from my research when I was setting up the dag you were not a fan of the stretched DAG but it works for us really well and passed all fail over tests that we ran on it <knocking on wood>.
Yes its running but it stops working after one session. I have had success in raising the transfer count from 2 to 5 but I can't really go much higher without taking down the server. the problem is when I am transferring someone with hundreds
of PSTs I have to babysit it...which sucks..

Can I make Finder frontmost application?

is there any way I can make the Finder become the frontmost application after a certain amount of time? can I script this? if I can script it, how can I make this script run and constantly be checking?

in Script Editor go to File menu->open Dictionary.
I can't figure out how to check if itunes is in full screen but the following will check if QT is in full screen. If it is it will do nothing. if it isn't it will activate finder.

Frontmost application not switching to Background as it used to do

Since I installed Yosemite, I noticed an anoying new behavior.
To interact with a background application, going from the frontmost I have to:
Select this second application clicking on it's top bar.
Or
Double-Click anywher on the background application Window.
Example:
Say Safari is my frontmost application and I want to reply a Tweet onthe Tweetbot application there is open on the background.
In the past I could click the tweet I want to reply and the system will automatically make Tweetbot the frontmost application and select the tweet I clicked.
Now I have to click on the top bar of Tweetbot (or click Tweetbot twice to make it the frontmost application).
Notice that this behavior happens with ANY formost/background application.
Any tips?

Why doesn't Muse update in CC like the other Applications?

Whenever Muse has an update, I don't know about it until I open the Muse application and it asks me if I want to update. The the AIR update appears and I have to close Muse so AIR can update. Is this normal?

Although I am using the same script as the fields above in the columm, the script eventually stops calculating and I can't figure out why. Is there a limit of how many calculation scripts you can enter? I will attempt to attach my pdf as soon as I figure out how. Thanks.

Java console doesn't show any error... That's why I am wondering if it's not a limitation issue... or memory issue, because they are maybe too many rows or something....

Upgraded to Acrobat X and signature field stop working

Upgraded to Acrobat X and IntegriSign signature field stop working. When I open the pdf and click on the signature field I get a "This plug-in is intended for validating signatures signed using earlier versions of Acrobat. To sign using this version of Acrobat, use "IntegriSign for Acrobat 9.0 and later" handler.
Under Perferences in Acrobat, 9.0 and later is checked.
In LiveCycle Designer - IntegriSign is indicated for Signature handler.
Can't figure out how to solve this. I have uninstalled, reset IntegriSign and Adobe settings a trillion times!

Help - "Acrobat is being used by another application and cannot open PDF files until the other application is closed."

I searched this site and google for this error terminology and come up dry. I support a user who has been for years using Acrobat 5 (yes, I know...) to read files in a client DB program, as well as other PDF files on their PC. In the last week or so, they have started gatting this error "Acrobat is being used by another application and cannot open PDF files until the other application is closed." any time they attempt to open a PDF file attached to an email (via Outlook).
It is my understanding that they cannot upgrade to a newer version of Acrobat because of limitations of their client software, but had not previously had any issues viewing PDF notes from the DB, and PDF attachments in their email.
I have tried uninstalling and re-installing, as well as tried using Adobe Reader 7 & 9 in conjunction with Acrobat to try to get around this issue, but have not been successful.
Any ideas?

I don't have an answer to your technical problem. The product I assume is Acrobat that you are talking about (based on the post title), Adobe is the company name. This is a good place to ask questions on Acrobat if folks can figure out what you are talking about. They will ask for the product version number (like AA9.3.3), operating system, and other applications if appropriate. Also, just what you are doing that generates the message.
As for Adobe, you are not likely to get an answer from them here in the user forum. You will be lucky if you can get an answer if you can contact them and not be on hold for more than an hour (sorry, this is why a lot of folks end up in the forum).
So, to help others try to answer your question, what are the products and versions involved? What OS? What are you doing when the message comes up.
