SiLabs USB driver for Mac

Hi,
I am making a GPS device which can send 1 PPS (pules per sec) signal to the modem Data Carrier Detect (DCD) pin and then convert from UART to USB using CP2102 (Silicon Labs).
A windows driver + serial port monitor program can correctly detect a 1 PPS signal being sent to DCD pin. But when I try to read the DCD pin status with the Mac driver (SiLabsUSBDriver) + C code, I could not get any changes from DCD pin.
This is what I've done.
#define BAUDRATE B9600
#define USBDEVICE "/dev/cu.SLAB_USBtoUART"
fd = open(USBDEVICE, O_RDWR|O_NOCTTY|O_NDELAY);
ret = ioctl(fd, TIOCMGET, &status);
printf("DCD , %d \n", status & TIOCM_CAR);
The value of status is always 0.
Can anyone help?
Andrew

  • Musicord Cherub MRD-41 Recorder: USB-Driver for Mac

    Hello,
    I am searching for the USB-Driver for Musicord Cherub MRD-41 Recorder. Searching for it along the internet did not give any matching result.
    Originally a CD containing the USB-Driver for Windows was included with the product. Since we now work with Apple-Products this does no longer work. Connecting the device to a Mac (as it is normal these days) and hoping, that it will work without any additional Software does not give any result.
    On the Original-CD the manufacturer states, that the USB-Driver for Mac can be downloaded at www.apple.com but there nothing can be found anymore.
    The recorder has been bought about 6 years ago (used under Windows then). Now we would like to use it again under Mac-systems (10.6 and 10.7).
    Does anyone know, if, and where help can be found?
    Thank you very much

    I need some recomendations plz.

    Hello,
    you don't need OS X install-disk, but I strongly recomend to burn a Win 7 disk. You may have some problems with installing it from a USB Flash :)

  • Is it possible to have two USB drives for the IPad?  I want to bring RAW photo files from my camera, through the IPad and back to an external hard drive.  One of my cameras does not use an SD card.  How can I do this?

    Is it possible to have two USB drives for the IPad?  I want to bring RAW files from my camera through the IPad and out to an external hard drive.  One of my cameras has an SD card but the other one doesn't have a card that would fit in any of the camera devices I've seen on line.  Realted to this, I bought the IPad camera accessory.  Can I put the SD card in the device and also hook the external hard drive to the USB port of the accessory and download from the camera to the hard drive?  Can I put Lightroom or the Nikon photo editing software on the IPad?  Right now I carry a PC laptop and external hard drives with me on wildernes trips.  Internet and WiFi are not available.  Because I shoot so many photos and they're in RAW I need to download from the camera to the external drive because I run out of memory on the PC (and it has much more memory than the IPad).  I have Nikon NX software and lightroom on my PC.  I'd love to be able to reduce the weight I carry by using the IPad to edit my photos each night while on trips.  Is this possible and how would I do it?  I'd appreciate any guidance.

    No, the camera connection kit only supports the copying of photos and videos to the Photos app, it doesn't support copying content off the iPad. For your second camera instead of the SD reader part of the kit, does the iPad to camera cable not work with it for direct transfer to the iPad ?
    For Lightroom and Nikon software again no - you can only install apps that are available in the iTunes app store on your computer and the App Store app on the iPad, 'normal' PC and Mac (OS X) software are not compatible with the iPad (iOS). There are some apps that perform fairly basic editing functions that are available in the store, but nothing as sophisticated as, for example, Lightroom.

  • How to Format Toshiba Hard-Drive for Mac with Parallels?

    Hello,
    I recently bought a Toshiba Hard-Drive with the following features:
    500GB
    It is a Canivo Basics 3.0
    It is USB 3.0 and 2.0 portable hard drive
    It has already been formatted NTFS for Windows XP, Vista, 7, and 8
    The box says that it can be reformatted for Mac
    I have a Macbook Pro with Retina Display that I bought this year in late March/early April.
    It runs OS X Mavericks, and Parallels Desktop 9 for Mac.
    I would like to reformat it so that I can use it on my laptop both with Windows and Mac OS at the same time. I do not wish to use a partition as I want to access the hard drive through Mac and Windows at the same time on my laptop and I also want to be able to access the Mac things on a Windows computer and vice versa.
    I have never formatted a hard drive before, and I would like to use a completely safe software, or no software at all, if it is possible.
    I am sorry but I don't have a very high knowledge of this.
    Thanks,
    Sandy-Wood

    It would be easier, using Parallels, just to format the drive for "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)". You can see it both in the Windows/Parallels and the Mac side. Leaving it formatted as NTFS is not going to allow you to access (write to) the drive unless you use third-party software. Formatting it for Mac lets you use it, as I said, on both the Parallels VM and the Mac side.
    If you were using Boot Camp, I would advise leaving it formatted as NTFS and purchasing NTFS for Mac to access the drive on both OS's. You can mitigate that by formatting the drive for Mac:
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • I am confused by the installation step that requires you to create a bootable USB drive for windows installation.  What is the ISO image and why has it selected my Passport backup drive as the destination disc?

    In the bootcamp installation it asks me to create a bootable USB drive for Windows Installation.  To do so, I must choose an ISO image.  What is that?  When I click "choose" I don't understand the options presented.  Is this the destination of the partition or where Windows will reside on the Mac?  Why does it also indicate the the destination disk si my WD Passport Back up drive?

    OK, so I have an apple superdrive hooked up to my mini (along with my Passport back up drive).  I also have  the discs for both 64bit and 32bit Windows along with the product key.  I am still not sure what to do when faced with the options after "choose".

    Mac 101: Printing (OS X Lion)
    Important:
    Your OS X Lion system will either have the necessary printing software already installed, or it will automatically download and install software when the printer is connected or configured. Do not install software that came with the printer as it may be out of date, and do not connect the printer to your Mac yet. Follow the instructions that came with the printer to unpack, install ink or toner, and insert paper.  Finally, use the instructions in this article to connect the printer to your Mac.
    The procedures are identical for Mountain Lion.

    It says it's for 10.2.4 or later or 10.4 (Huh?) but I just tried it and it worked.
    I printed through an Airport Extreme Base Station, but I imagine it should work via USB (or ethernet).

  • Need help on USB hub for mac air 13 inch (2 external hardisk and Iphone)

    Hello everyone, I am a new macbook air user, and currently using 2 external hardisk of 1TB and 2TB. I am looking for usb hub that support both of my external hardisk, ethernet and iphone too. The problem is, limited usb hub for mac air and bad review on balkin product, any advice for me?
    One more thing, I just moved from window to mac for the first time, and bought Western Digital 2TB external hardisk, the problem is, I can't save any video/audio file that I downloaded from internet in macbook to be transfer/move to this WD 2TB external hardisk, except for back up and time machine. It refuse to except any file that I try to move in to the external hardisk Can anyone help me? compactibility problem?

    First, I have not found any of my hubs to have an issue with my MBA. Just make sure that if any peripherals you attached to the hub are adequately powered. Either by having the hub independently powered, or the devices having their own power supply.
    The drive problem you have may be due to the file formatting. If this drive is formatted NTFS, then in many cases you can write to it using a network protocol, but OS X can't write to it if attached directly to the computer, e.g. USB, SATA, FireWire. You will neeed to either format the drive as a HFS+ drive, or use software that enables OS X to write directly to t a NTFS formatted drive, such as NTFS-3G. • Formatting drives for Mac & PC

    I have a client who wants me to convert his footage to h264 and ship copies off to media outlets when they need publicity clips.  We bought several basic portable hard drives from Best Buy, and other stores, or he provides one.  However, sometimes people with PCs can't open the clips when they plug in the portable hard drive.  Is there a way to format these different drives, so they can be used on a PC or a Mac?

    I had a similar problem a few years back with some HandyCam footage (30-minute MPEG-2 clips) of a pilgrimage through China that I converted to DV/DVCam NTSC for editing. The customer wanted timecoded DV footage on a FAT-32 USB drive for PC review.
    I found that if I used the Export Queue to output, FCP wrote three 2GB files and (what I called) a wrapper that was readable by the PC as three sequential files and by the mac as one big file using the "wrapper."
    Have things changed so much this no longer works?

  • I have a FreeAgent Goflex drive (for Mac) after a while the icon disappears from the desktop and can only be restored by reconnecting

    I have a FreeAgent GoFlex backup drive (for Mac) after a while the icon disappears from the desktop and can only be restored by reconnecting the firewire. This also happens when I use the USB connection as well. Thanks

    Did you use any of the "sleep" drivers supplied? I have found it best to just totally reformat/erase the drives and let the OS handle them.

  • Is there DAQ driver for MAC or Linux

    I know for Labview there is version for Mac or Linux.
    Just want to learn if there is DAQ driver for MAC or Linux, which can support USB DAQ.

    Hi Alex,
    Lynn is correct. For using NI's USB DAQ hardware with Mac and Linux, the best and only driver to use is NI-DAQmx Base. The readme file lists what specific devices are supported, which specific Linux and OS X versions are supported, and which hardware features are supported.

  • HT1444 Running 10.8.2 on MacBook Pro. Purchased Toshiba 1TB external drive.  Calls for installing NTFS driver for Mac.  Any concerns here?

    My MacBook Pro is running Mountain LIon 10.8.2.  I just purchased a Toshiba external hard drive offering USB 3.0 & 2.0.  The NTFS driver for Mac is included.  The compatability indication includes Lion ... but not yet ... Mountain Lion.  Should I be concerned about loading this software?

    Or you could just reformat the drive to exFat or FAT32 and then you won't need any additional software. Also, you can check app compatibility at www.roaringapps.com. I don't know if this includes any type of drivers.

  • How to format an external drive for mac AND pc use

    i want to format my external drive so i can use it on my mac and on pc's as well. i've gathered that the MS-DOS format is the way to go. my question is this: would this create any problems for my mac then?
    can i partion one part for ms-dos and part for macos extended?
    cheers
    -j-

    MS-DOS format (or FAT32) will be fine for both Mac and PC. However there is a 4GB file size limit with FAT32.
    You could use a dual partition, however the HFS+ partition would not be readable by the PC unless you installed the third party MacDrive.
    Look at this page for more information on a dual partition drive for Mac and Windows.
