Silent x64 Java JRE 1.6u2 install

Hi.
We are trying to create a .bat file for silently installing x64 JRE 1.6u2 from a shared network drive to Vista x64 machines. This works fine for the x86 variant, but the same switches do nothing for the x64 version.
The command I am trying to run is:
"//Networksharedfolder/x64JREnamehere.exe" /s IEXPLORER=1 MOZILLA=1
Again, this structure seems to work fine on x86 Windows variants with x86 JREs, but not with x64 Windows variants with x64 JREs.
Thanks!

You have to add the following (dummy) key to your registry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\mozilla.org\Mozilla]
"CurrentVersion"="1.0"

  • Java (JRE) won't install??

While visiting a site, the java applet, on the site would not run. Further browing discoverd that I needed an updated version of the JRE. Having had problems with Java, in the past, I removed my old version before installing the new version.
MSIEXEC.EXE logged the removal of the old version.
FIRST TRY: attempted the "online" install version. After downloading NOTHING happened. Lots of disk activity, but no installation program was run. NO errors were displayed. Tried this twice, same results.
SECOND TRY: downloaded the file for manual install. Download went fine, no problems. Closed browser, ran installation program. AGAIN lots of disk activity (unpacking files?). Same results as before, i.e. no installation program appeared and no errors were reported.
Third tries and onward: Re-downloaded the files from different locations, on the possibility that the files were corrupted some how. All files were the same and were checked to be true copies.
Some snooping around led me to find that the disk activity was caused by the file unpacking an MSI file. Attempted to run the MSI file. It failed, with this error:
    *** Begin Quote ****
This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package.
    **** End Quote ****
Fisrt Question: (Obviously) why won't the installation progam run?
Second Question: has support for win 9x been dropped?
Hope someone here has an answer. because this one has me stumpted.
    Bill

I have been trying to install the latest command line programming JDK, Java SE 6 (any recently updated "subversion" so to say), and have found that the Microsoft Support, today, sent me to Sun and I presume Sun will send me to Microsoft (since, for now, I'm using Windows 98 SE "not supported" blahblahblah) -- Point: I was glad to find this thread x 1 googleplex.
But I don't know if by .old you mean change, literally, the name of the file (using DOS rename command? which I've done, nothing yet ecept message telling me I have to insert the last of the disks first?!?) to MSIEXEC.OLD -- or if by ".old" you meant something else, something prehensile or obsolete MSIEXEC.FOO, in other "words" -- which, if so, I need to know the actual real extension name/spelling of (unless you can draw me a picture.
I have no small amount of urgency wrapping this around my hypothalamus. Must have the command line prgramming tools -- the jdk -- installed. Can not fail. Therefore: thanks again for your help!
I don't know if the Sun forum this is on will inform me of a reply; please, if you have some anonymous way to send one to my email I'd really appreciate it: [email protected] (I already get so much spam I don't mind posting that adress. • Download Java JRE problem

This is what I receive from a webpage:
    Important Notice
You are required to install/enable Java JRE for processing PPS online payment.
Please press "Download Java JRE" button to install/enable Java JRE
Please press "Reload" button after installed the Java JRE successfully.
Then I went to sun's webpage and it told me to download it by referring to Mac's software update. I tried but then there was no such update found. I tried reloading the webpage, opened it again with Chrome, firefox, manually clicking open the Jar Launcher and Java Web Start, all couldnt work. I need to enter that website to do some payment. Could anyone please help? Thank you.

I ran the software update process already and there was nothing about java for me to update. And that webpage is still asking me for a JAVA JRE installed. Would it be that Safari could not recognise the java in my os?

  • Distribution of Java JRE on Windows Vista Ultimate x64

The automatic update of the Java JRE on my Windows Vista Ultimate x64 system often comes up saying a new update is available but then as soon as I go ahead to install it, the update tells me that the particular version of the JRE is already installed.
How can this automatic update bug for new JRE installations be fixed.

Uninstall the software cleanly via the "Add or Remove programs" panel, then run another install. The breakdown is in the licensing system, not the application itself. Do not run the clean scripts until you have attempted this. If it still fails, then indeed a call to Adobe tech might do wonders...

    Hi,
I have the same problem on two German windows 8.1 machines! I'm able to install the JDK but not the contained or separate JRE -> tested with JRE 7u67 & JRE8u20.
The suggest workaround (user: 2709705) -> install the english language pack.
Maybe a interessting information -> I saw the "Restore Java security promts" dialog the first time after the english language pack installation & the default display language switch.
    Regards,

  • Install Java JRE 1.4.2 plugin on Phoenix on Windows

How can I install Java JRE 1.42 on Phoenix on Window 2000?
In the Java Plugin-in control panel, it only has Mozilla 1.1 and if I click it, it said I don't have mozilla 1.1 install.

  • Java update cannot be installed..

I'm having a problem and can't seem to find anyone else with the same issue. Hopefully, someone can point out what the problem is.
I'm trying to silent install jre-1_5_0_02-windows-i586-p.exe with instructions I found here:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/plugin/developer_guide/silent.html
In my batch file I'm using the following syntax:
    Start /w C:\Drivers\Software\Java\jre-1_5_0_02-windows-i586-p.exe /s /v"/qn ADDLOCAL=ALL IEXPLORER=1 NETSCAPE6=1 MOZILLA=1 REBOOT=Suppress JAVAUPDATE=0 WEBSTARTICON=0"During the install process I receive this error:
Java update cannot be installed on this machine because the directory you have chosen to install is locked.
Please close and browser or application that is using the directory you have chosen for installation. If I hit the 'RETRY' button it continues installation just fine. Any ideas what is causing this error?
As a long shot I removed the JAVAUPDATE=0 but, it still had the same problem.
    TIA

I got the same problem when I was just doing a regular install. After struggling for a few days and following the idea that something else must be using an older JVM, I tried this:
I closed all the non-native windows applications. Some of these were running in the background. The culprit was Google desktop search!!
Once I closed google (by right clicking the icon and exit-ing), the Java installation process went smoothly.
I think this concept would work for you. It is either google desktop or some other application that is running in the background that is using an older JVM.

  • Anyway to uninstall java jre using the windows xp command line

    Hi,
Is there anyway I can uninstall Java JRE 1.6_6 by using the xp cmd.
I need to do this for my team project where ive made a custom installer that installs a JRE and my java application. I then also need to make an uninstaller which removes my application (ive done that), and also removes the JRE. I know you can do this from the control panel but I need to uninstall both at the same time in one simple interface.
Im using batch scripts to do this, as the installer package im using is useless.
    Thanks
    Shazan

You could try uninstalling via the silent approach. The original jre install bundle is necessary.
See http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/plugin/developer_guide/silent.html (this is 1.4.2 specific, but it should work for 6 also)
    <jre>.exe /s /v "/qn [REBOOT=Suppress]" /x
Looks like the command you'll need.
How much has your custom installer modified the java installer ? I don't think you're allowed modify the jre bundle in any way.

  • Silent installation of JRE with server JVM?

Is it possible to deploy the JRE with the server HotSpot JVM included? So far, we deployed the JRE silently (http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/deployment/deployment-guide/silent.html) and copied the "server/" subdirectory (with the server HotSpot JVM) of the relating JDK separately to each server. Is there a way to include this Server JVM in the silent installation so that Java apps can use the "-server" option on each JRE host?

How do you do the silent install currently? (this will give a clue on how to make it more silent).

  • Whats is difference between Java JRE  and  Java SDK

    Hi,
what is the difference between Java JRE and Java SDK...
i think both of them have the same set of files to be installed...
I am not able to understand where they differ

The JRE (Java runtime Environment) contains just the stuff necessary to run Java and the SDK (System Development Kit) contains the extra stuff necessary (and also helpful) to develop in Java.

I have checked and double checked all settings in the Java Control Panel and Checked it is enabled for IE. I have tried Firefox and Opera too. I have uninstalled and installed several older versions, without any luck...
Now im running on the latest 1.6.0.02.
Im running behind a SBS 2003, without the ISA enabled. All PC's are using the router directly as default gateway (so not running through the SBS server). Im not using any Proxy, but i have tried that as well.

I have the feeling this has something to do with java not finding the java application it is trying to run? Does this make any sense? BTW. The Java Control Panel is showing in the taskbar next to the clock when i enter a Java site so its launching Java, but nothing happens.
Is there any simple java application i can use to test locally? From my C: drive or something.
I do not know much about Java functionality so i appreciate any help.
    Thanks
    Espen Zaal, Norway

    Hey, thanks for the answer.
I didnt have the JDK installed, just JRE so i installed JDK and could run the local applets.
The same online applet fails. I really do not know why this happens. There is nothing fancy about this customers network. They have 5 users, and a single Cisco Router for router/firewall for connecting/protecting against the internet.
There is also no outgoing firewall. Does anyone have experience with firewalls or routers blocking some part of the traffic? I just had a problem with the MTU at a nother customer.
Last time i investigated this i also concluded that there was no connection to the remote computer as you suggest, but i can not see what is blocking it.
The customer of mine is realying on Java to run for one of their applications so i can not "quit" like i did last time when the managing director couldnt play his online games hehe.
    Anyone else got some tips?
    Thanks

  • Getting the "Java path" defined in a Java JRE installation

    Hallo!
I have already tried to get some help with this issue but am still unable to get the JRE operational.
    What have I undertaken:
    1. Uninstalled all previous platform modules
    2. Removed all traces of previous plugins and registry entries
    3. Re-installed latest level of Java JRE
When I now try to use the cmd.exe and input "java -version" the error message I get is that Java is unknown.
When I try to install the application for which I needed JRE, the installation hangs up with "Java not fully installed".
Is there any documentation which fully describes the process in steps an untrained user can understand?
Better still is there a tool which can monitor or test the installation to indicate where I may have gone adrift?
    Any useful tips are welcome.
    Kind regards, forkinpm.

    hi,
Check the classpath and path settings of envoirnement variables. may be u havent changed them. The java-version command searches the java from there only.

  • Can't get Firefox to "downgrade" Java JRE version

I recently allowed the Java updater to update my Java JRE from 1.6.x to 1.7.x. However I have a critical web site that will not run the applet unless it sees a 1.6x "only" JRE. (yes, it is a dumb site) . Anyway, I removed the 1.7 version, and re-installed 1.6 but Firefox still shows the 1.7 version in my add-ons and I can't remove the references or get them to update to 1.6x.
I still can't get the web site to launch the applet that I need from FF because it thinks I am not running 1.6x. I am NOT having this problem using IE8.. it seems to have downgraded just fine.

You can see the installed plugins that are enabled on the about:plugins page.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/about%3Aplugins
You can set the plugin.expose_full_path pref to true on the about:config page to see the full path of plugins on the about:plugins page.<br />
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/about:config
It is best not to leave that pref set to true as it exposes that full path to web servers, so reset that pref to false after you are done with the about:plugins page.

  • Java versions for OIM install

    Hi,
Last time when I installed OIM, everything worked fine, but I was unable to open the workflow manager applet. I think maybe I used the wrong JRE/JDK. Please read below the environment I am using and suggest which Jave version should be used.

    OIM: 9.1
    Application Server: Weblogic (latest version)
    1. Installing Oracle Weblogic, which JRE to use?
a> 1.6 Sun Java already shipped with Weblogic
b> 1.6 Oracle JRockit shipped with Weblogic
    c> any other Java version
    2. Installing OIM Server, in the screen where it asks for Application server information, in the field where it asks the JDK used for application server install, which one to use?
a> The one I choose above in 1
b> any other Java version (1.4.2_12 or _15 or something else)
    3. Installing OIM client, when it asks for JRE to use with design console, which Java to use?
a> Install JRE bundled with OIM
b> JDK 1.4.2_12 or _15 or any other Java version
    4. Now, when I use the OIM, what should be the Java version that my browser should be configured to launch the Workflow Manager applet?
    Thanks in advance.

The release notes for your oim version contains information about what JRE versions are supported.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/files/idm_certification_101401.html#BABGBGHI
Sun JDK 1.6.0_10 or higher JRockit 1.6.0_05 or higher seems to be what you are looking for.
