Sim card/restore /emergency call error

Hi guys
Tonight I had a convo cut short as the iPhone battery needed to be recharged (I did get a %10 battery power left" message.
So, I get home, plug into iTunes and get a this:
USB cable to iTunes in background, and message says:
Restore Needed
Iphone cannot send or receive calls. Restore from iTunes.

Great. I have no idea why this idiotic message comes up. So I connect to iTunes again, and the error message on iTunes says: iTunes cannot activate your iPhone because it cannot find my sim card or a SIM PIN is required.
Disconnect your iPhone, make sure the SIM is inserted correctly, tap unlock BLAH BLAH..
I have NO SIM PIN.
I cannot restore as the guys at Apple.com/support suggest because the SIM Card cannot be found. I have tired the home/off button thing.
I have NOT unlocked this iPhone.
I am very angry, and am close to smashing it into the wall.
Any ideas as to hat is going on?

Hi there. I had exactly the same issue a few days ago. I took it to an Apple store and the Genius took the SIM card out and put it back in, then reset it back to factory settings and restored the firmware. I then had to resync it to my own Mac. I think he just followed the instructions that are somewhere on the Apple support site.

If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID and that ID is a previous version of your current ID, not an entirely different one.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details and some other circumstances.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device. It may take a short while to remove the account.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

iPad are not telelphones. They do not receive calls nor do they receive or send SMS messages.

IPhone 3GS - Can I use existing US t-mobile SIM and German O2 SIM cards (for phone calls) without buying a data plan?

I currently use 2 phones to make calls: one t-mobile locked phone for the US and one O2 locked phone for Germany, both without data plan.
Can I upgrade using just one phone (factory unlocked iPhone 3GS) and continue to use the existing SIM cards for phone calls (just switching the SIM cards when necessary), but use free WIFI spots worldwide for internet access/data transfer?

No supported carrier, including T-Mobile in the U.S., permits the use of an iPhone without a data plan. Though it's technically possible to do it, if and when they find you, they will either charge you for a data plan or shut down your account.

Use of sim card for making calls

If you wish to use a cellular data connection, you need to go into your settings and purchase and enable a cellular data plan with whichever provider supports your SIM card.
All that does though is enable a data connection over 3G or LTE (if available) - it does not enable voice calling as the device cannot do that. You would need to use a voice over IP app, which will use data minutes from your data plan.
If you use a VOIP app with a wifi connection, the SIM card has nothing to do with that at all.

My iphone keeps coming up with restore needed. when i turn it off and turn back on it says activation required. i have changed sim card, restored the phone and reset everything to factory settings, it is still doing the same thing. whats happening?

That does happen. It depends on how hard the server is being hit, as well as the connection speed of your system. If you are on a windows system, you will want to disable any antivirus or firewall software during the download.

Blackberry 8310 error INSERT SIM CARD

Hello,
I'm using a BB 8310 from vodafone with a T-mobile SIM Card and having the error INSERT SIM CARD and red SOS x.
When a insert the SIM in a GSM device the SIM works fine.
I already replaced the SIM-card whit a new one, performed a hard reset, restart serveral times the device.
Does somebody know what to do?

I'm very disappointed with Apple products! I was 15 days without my Iphone 5, because it stopped working and the had to be replaced by authorized apple. Then i bought an iphone 5s in two days it stopped working. Doesn't read the sim card. I call to Apple suport and discovery that the model A1533 is not warranted in Brazil and need to be replaced, because there is a hardware problem. In a moment i don't have anyone Phone. Why Apple does not send other equipment equal to authorized to exchange my Iphone, because in Brasil doesn't have the same model? I liked a lot this Apple phone, but i can't use, i have one brand new, but doen'st work. I don't have anybody in USA to exchange in one Apple store. Please help me!

5800 not reading sim cards anymore!

hi guys, I am in the UK on the O2 network and i just recently cancelled my contract with them. I was using the 5800 with this contract and it was cancelled today when i checked my phone and there was no operator signal.
So i proceeded to switch that simcard to one of my other contracts and now the phone won't work with the other simcard(o2 as well). The phone is unlocked( i paid to unlock it), and now whatever sim i throw into it it just says "insert simcard" when i go into the network settings.
What has happend?

Here are some steps to help figure out what is wrong with your phone, and hopefully in the end get you up and running.
-Ensure that the SIM card is inserted correctly. For device specific instructions how to insert SIM card, refer to the User Guide of your device available either in the sales package or on the local Nokia web site.
-Ensure that the SIM card is attached tightly and properly in the SIM card slot. The SIM card lock is not bent or damaged and it is closed.
-Use the original battery that comes with the device.
-Try with a new or different SIM card. If another SIM card does not give error message, contact your network operator or service provider to verify that your SIM card is not corrupted or is properly configured.
-If the problem persists with another SIM card, please contact Nokia Care.
If your SIM card reads "Not Accepted", your first step would be to contact your network operator or service provider.

Party A: No SIM Card, in US, calling using WIFI
Party B: SIM Card, in another country, receiving calls, with WIFI
Can Party A and B connect through Facetime?

This is one of the things I hate about Apple. Why not just allow everything to behave the same? Why should FaceTime, a non-cellular application, have to behave differently on the iPhone than on all other platforms?

Unable to access sim card on n85

is there any signs that i have to toggle on my new n85.the problem is that it can't access saved contacts on my sim card.there's an error msg that says "database corrupted.some data might be lost".it seems alright whenever i switch the sim card to another phone but not n85.i had to save my new contacts to my phone memory.sigh..

N900: "Unable to use this SIM card in device" Erro...

Yesterday evening, I suddenly couldn't get a GPRS or any other phone signal on my phone. On switching off/on, I was informed of the above error message.
I tried rebooting the phone via the 'u' key (battery out) process and this did not solve the problem
I tried the SIM card in my old phone and it worked perfectly. The N900 WLAN works normally.
I did nothing unusual with the phone yesterday evening so I am bemused at this error suddenly happening.

Thanks for your support. I followed your instructions but now PC Suite does not recognise my N900 so cannot access the file! Earlier I put my daughter's Vodafone SIM card in and the error message was "unable to establish network connection". Then the next time I tried the same message appeared with "Contact service" added!. I never got as far as technical help as it was approaching 8pm and they told me that they would deal with it tomorrow. The next time I tried the original error message came up. Weird.

Transfering data from T-Mobile SIM card

Does anyone know how to download contacts from an old phone's SIM card into iTunes? New Verizon iPhone is arriving this week. I may have to go into the Apple store but I was hoping to figure this out at home. Thanks!

First, contacts are not stored in iTunes. You merely sync contacts from a supported contact application on your computer through iTunes, to your phone. To get contact info off a sim card would require a sim card reader. Now that Apple sells both GSM & CDMA iPhones, I would suspect that Apple stores now have sim card readers. Call and ask.

Treo 750 & SIM Card

I just bought a used Treo 750. When I plug in my SIM card I get an error that says my SIM is locked, the code was put in wrong 4 times and I need to wait until the timeout is over before trying again. I never put in a code though, I can't get to a place where I can put in my code, and my wireless provider is clueless.

Yes, I am using a 3G SIM card. I did do a hard reset and came up with the same thing. I am going to try to take the thing in to my wireless provider today, but honestly, I think I got jacked. Any other suggestions are welcomed.
