Simple/ Advanced  table

I have a query.
In my page
I Have a Simple/Advanced table.
For each row of the Table i need to have a link, which will open a new page where there will be one more Table(Simple/Adavnced), which would be a Child record. And I should be able to add more rows.
I know this would be possible using the Table in Table solution.
But opening the child Records Table in another page, add the records and then go back to the page Containing the Master Table.
IS this possible?
If so how?
Can anybody tell me?

Hi Pradeep,
I think HGrid would be the good option for table-in-table parent-child relationship.

  • How to display fixed width column in Advanced Table?

    Hi,
    This is probably a newbie question for OAF. My requirement is quite simple but I couldn't find the answer in either the OAF developer's guide or anywhere else so I turn to the experts here. I have a region of type Table or Advanced table with three items in them. One of the Item is of type comments which could be up to 4000 characters.
    I wanted to show all three on the first page but only have fixed width for the comments section like only show the first 50 characters for example and then if they want to see more detail they can click on a link to see full comments.
    The problem is I cannot figure out how to make the comments item fixed width. I have played with the table width properties but it keeps displaying the comments in multiple lines (I don't want that...). I have also tried putting the Table in a Row Layout but it doesn't seem to help.
    Since this is new development I can change my region style to anything to meet my requirements.
    I hope this is an easy question and if someone can help me that would be great....:-)

    Hi,
    Thanks but I was not wanting to change the VO attribute length size since I want to have a link on the first page which would enable to see a user the full 4000 comments using the same VO object. Then if I limit it to 50 characters in the VO, I will not be able to display the full comments on the second page.
    Isn't there some way in the UI that I can limit it? I know one workaround I can use for now is to have another column in the VO with the 50 character value such as substr(comments, 1, 50) and then have the full comments selected also in the VO and then show this subtr value in the first page and the comments value in the 2nd. I just thought there would be an easier way about it then doing all this workaround.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • Update query for Advanced table.

    Hi,
    I am an newbie to OAF so need help for a simple task.
    I have an advanced table that has been created using expert mode query of VO. (as it contains data from more than one table).
    Now, i want to update the data for any row that is changed in the table,
    i followed the advanced table example in the tutorial and reached till the update method of AM. Now I am not able to update the table. When I searched the forum it said that I need to have a simple EO on the table to update it, but I want to update more than one table ( foreign key relationship), so can I do it using the same VO ? I have both the VO (one based on custom select query of Expert mode and other normal VO based on EO).
    Can someone please give me the query to update the table ?
    Thanks,
    VK

    Thanks Reetesh for your reply.
    As this is a simple task I wan't to do it via OAF query rather than writing PL/SQL procedure.
    I have two tables , say error table and interface table, (there is a foreign key relation ship between these tables, ie. i have to show the interface name present in the interface table via the foreign key in the error table). I used the following query to get the data
    SELECT xxgblErrorMasterEO1.ERROR_ID_NO,
    xxgblErrorMasterEO1.ERROR_CODE,
    xxgblErrorMasterEO1.ERROR_MESSAGE,
    xxgblErrorMasterEO1.CREATED_BY,
    xxgblErrorMasterEO1.CREATION_DATE,
    xxgblErrorMasterEO1.LAST_UPDATED_BY,
    xxgblErrorMasterEO1.LAST_UPDATE_DATE,
    xxgblIntfProgramMaster.INTERFACE_NAME,
    xxgblErrorMasterEO1.ERROR_TYPE
    FROM XXEEG.XXGBL_ERROR_MASTER xxgblErrorMasterEO1,
    XXEEG.XXGBL_INTF_PROGRAM_MASTER xxgblIntfProgramMaster
    where xxgblErrorMasterEO1.INTERFACE_ID_NO =
    xxgblIntfProgramMaster.INTERFACE_ID_NO
    I like the idea of Advanced table while going through the tutorial (example 2) and would want to show certain fields by expanding on the + mark ( just like in the explorer)
    now i want to update any of the fields that i show to the user (except the WHO fields). Say for example if the user updates the error_message and Interface_name, so how should i write the update method in the AM ?
    Pardon me if this sounds simple :(

  • Advanced Table with Grand Total

    I have an advanced table created at the design time with property "Records Displayed" is set to 10. That means, i can able to see 10 records at a time. i have click on Next "Next 10" link to see the next 10 records. i have created a footer with Total. it is showing the sum of the column for the 10 records at a time. Every time i click on "Next 10" , it shows the next 10 records and give me total for current 10 records.
    My requirement is show the grand total in the footer. is there any simple setup to show the grand total instead of current page total ? Can i replace the current page total with grand total ? if so, how can i get the handler for the total ?

    We have not implemented this functionality but OAF Dev guide [11.5.10.2] has this info.
    Control Total Value Generation
    To bypass OA Framework's mechanism to control the value generation for a table column footer so you can
    provide your own value such as a percentage, set the
    oracle.apps.fnd.framework.webui.OAWebBeanConstants TABULAR_FUNCTION_VALUE_ATTR on the
    appropriate table column. This overrides OA Framework's internal behavior of footer value generation. Like all
    web bean attributes, you can data bound this attribute if required.
    Sample usage:
    OAAdvancedTableBean advtableBean = ...;
    OAMessageStyledTextBean salaryBean = advtableBean.findChildRecursive(...);
    String formattedTotal = ...;
    *// compute the total*
    salaryBean.setAttributeValue(TABULAR_FUNCTION_VALUE_ATTR,formattedTotal);
    or:
    salaryBean.setAttributeValue(TABULAR_FUNCTION_VALUE_ATTR,
    new OADataBoundValueViewObject(...));
    Grand Totals
    Declarative or programmatic support for Grand Totals is currently not available in advanced tables. To
    implement grand totals, you must build your own layout below the advanced table in accordance with the
    Oracle Browser Look-and-Feel (BLAF) Guidelines: Tables: Grand Totals [OTN version]. Use the
    messageComponentLayout region style to build this layout. In addition, you must programmatically provide the
    values for the grand total fields. Since these fields are like any other form fields, you can first calculate the
    grand total value in your controller code by looping through the entire view instance row range, and then call
    setText() for the grand total field to set it with the calculated grand total value.
    Hope this helps.

  • Advanced-Table in Advanced-Table Query RN

    I'm having difficulty creating a query region in the inner table within an Advanced-Table in Advanced-Table relationship. The inner tables searchable items appear in the outer tables simple search region and an error is raised when I open the detail table. The error states that the the item is not defined in the outer table VO. The error is correct, the column does not exist in the outer table's VO. It only exists in the inner table's VO and I've indicated what VO instance the column exists in when defining the item in the inner table. So my question is why does OAF check for an item in the outer table's VO when I've told it that the item exists in the VO defined on the inner table's item attributes?
    Thanks for any answers or pointers.
    Jason

    I have been working on attempting to allow a user to specify query criteria for an inner table. Is this possible?
    This is all I've been able to locate on this topic in the R12 Developer's Guide.
    "The inner table bears a master-detail relation with the outer table. For each master row, corresponding detail rows are displayed in an inner table. Users can control the rows in the inner table by defining additional search criteria to the criteria already defined in the view link, which relates the outer view object with the inner view object."
    The second sentence implies that query criteria can, in fact, be provided for an inner table set of data.
    Thanks,
    Jason

  • Advanced Table Multiple Selection View Attribute Type

    Hi,
    I have an advanced table with multiple selection. The multiple selection is associated with a view object attribute that is of type "String". In the create mode, the view attribute stores "Y" for the selected rows. But in the update mode, when I try to initialize the VO from the DB table, the multiple selection checkboxes are not selected for the rows where the DB value of the associated attribute is "Y". Somebody told me that if I specify the type of the DB attribute associated, to Boolean (and also the view attribute as Boolean), then this problem wouldn't occur. Is that correct or I must be doing something else wrong?
    Thanks,
    Amit

    Hi Pratap,
    It's quite simple actually. I mean the problem defintion :-) (not the solution)
    I have a table with multipleselection. Initially the user does a "Select All" and the data is committed to the DB.
    Once committed I don't want the user to change the selection, hence I need to hide the checkbox ( there is no way to make it read only).
    To do this, I make the multipleselectionbean as rendered=false. But when the page is committed again, the row selection is getting changed back to "N" for all rows.
    Now if I don't hide the multipleselection bean, the checkboxes appear as selected and the commit doesn't change the value to "N".
    Hope the problem is clear now.

  • Advanced Table and Table

    Hi,
    I created a table and an advanced table. What is the difference between the table and advanced table.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Jegan

    Hi Jegan,
    in case of Advance table u hve many features like Columm group (to group multiple columms of vo under one columm), insert empty row in the table (on the click of button), table actions but these features are not available in case of simple table.

  • Advanced Table does not refresh after database level action

    Hi,
    I have a page which has an advanced table. I update the advanced table from the page do some validations, update some DB level columns(also part of advanced table) and see that the changes are saved to the DB but the advanced table does not show the updates done at the DB level.
    I tried clearing the VO Cache and re-executing the VO but still it does not refresh the Advanced table data.
    This is very critical requirement for the client, any inputs will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks a lot in Advance.

    Regards,
    Ram

    You are throwing the message and then catching it yourself, and then printing the stack, which is what java is doing.
    So, you need to
    remove
    }catch(Exception e)
    e.printStackTrace();
    and you would need to place the try block appropriately, since some methods you have used want exceptions caught.

  • Records Not Getting Displayed in Advanced Table

    Hi All ,
    I am rendering an advanced table that displays some records . i have created a VO that is tagged to this Table . The Table was displaying the records satisfactorily initially . Now suddenly the table shows no Search Conducted .
    I checked the VO and the AM . I found out that the query gets executed when the executeQuery() Method is called . The records are also fetched . (i verified this using methods like getRowCount() , getFetchedRowCount() , getRowCountInRange )
    But the records dont get displayed on the page . What could be the problem . Kindly Help !
    Thanks
    Chirag Shah

    Did you make any change to VO later on which might have change the column aliases?
    If you are sure of VO returning the rows during page call, then I will suggest to delete the mapping from table and do that again.

  • Get Total of a Column of Advanced Table and use it in Controller in OAF

    I have an advanced table on my custom page. I am calculating total of a column in my footer. I am acheiving this using the standard functionality of advanced table by setting total value property of my column to "TRUE" and displaying the total in the tablefooter components.
    In addition to this I want to retreive the total value from my footer and use it in my Controller for further validations but I am not able to acheive this.
    I tried some code already present in the Community for the same but nothing turned out right for me.
    Can anyone please help me on this.

       Hi there ,
      You can manually add the values of each row of a  column and make use of the value obtained in your controller .
    Here is the logic ,
    1) get the vo instnace attached to that table .
    2) Loop through every single row in the table .
    3) get the value and sum up the value and use it in your controller .
    int fetchRowCount = vo.getFetchRowCount();
    voRowImpl row = null;
    int count =0;
    if (fetchRowCount  > 0) {
    RowSetIterator iter = vo.createRowSetIterator("Iter");
    iter.setRangeStart(0);
      iter.setRangeSize(fetchBidderRowCount);
       for (int i = 0; i < fetchBidderRowCount; i++) {
      row = voRowImpl iter.getRowAtRangeIndex(i);
       //use RowImpl getters   10.
             Number personId = row.getPersonId();
    count =personId+count;         // add each and every value and have in variable
    iter.closeRowSetIterator();

  • Question regarding Classic and Advance table

    Hi,
    I have classic and advance table. I am populating with VO that brings 100 record. When i render page i see last record being displayed. How can i show my first record by defult on both tables?

    By default the first record will be displayed, if you are seeing the last one instead, you probably did a vo.last() in the code.

  • 30EA3 - Edit Table/Create Table(Advanced) - Table Name, Text Box Size

    I am not sure if its the same on non-Linux versions, but in the edit table dialog, the table name text box size is tiny. Its only wide enough that you can see approx 7 chars.
    Is it possible to increase this? The size of the text box in the simple create table dialog seems like a good size. As far as I can tell, it is not tiny to conserve space for other items.
    Anyway, it's just a minor issue that wont prevent me from doing work - just think it'd be better a bit bigger. I am sure it didn't used to be this small.

  • How to get the value from Advanced table

    Hi,
    In the Advanced table have 2 LOV fields, I need LOV field value dynamically in the controller to validate the save button, if iam not selected any value in lov save button will not allow to save the data. In the table i am using 'Add another row'. How to get the lov field value in the process form request??? and how to do this requirement
    Thanks
    Naresh

    1. You can specify required property on LOV field to "yes". For events where you wish to disable the client side validations, set the property disable client side validation to "true".
    2. If above behavior is not what you are looking for, then you need to handle in AM and not CO.
    a. Call an AM method from CO.
    b. In that AM method, get handle of VO.
    c. Iterate the VO Rows and check for your validation rules.
