Simple AS3 external swf playing code?

Hi
I'm after some REALLY simple code, and am happy to pay someone via Paypal to do this for me.
I want to have a one frame piece of AS3 code that loads in external swfs from an array.
I want external swf 1 to play, and when it's finished, swf 1 unloads from memory, and then external swf 2 starts playing and so on through the array.
When the end of the array is met, it loops back to the first swf and starts again.
I don't need transition effects or anything like that.
This is to be used for an offline project, so it's not connected to the web.
I've been playing with it for a while myself, but can't get this to work.  It should be a simple and quick job for someone out there.  Just load a new swf into the child holder and play.  When that swf's finished playing, dump it, and load in and play the next one.
Thanks for your help.
Shaun

Nothing at this stage - I'm still experimenting to figure out the best way to do it.  I found something like what I want at http://www.flashandmath.com/intermediate/externalclips/ext_clip2.html (without button control though - there's a code addition at the bottom to add in to make the swfs play by themselves).
The problem with the above example is I can't get any external swfs besides the example ones to play.  I even tried renaming my as3 swfs to clip0 etc, but still nothing.
If someone can make it for me, and it means I have to add some code to the end of each external swf, if they can include the code to add, I can incorporate it no probs.
Cheers
Shaun

  • Loading external swf (no code)

    Hello
    i have a strange issue since update of my app for ios 8: my app is loading external swf (doesnt containing code, its just pdf converted to swf using swftools)
    while its working ok when debugging on device, these external swf don't show up since the app have been accepted on itunes. And i dont have any error message
    what i don't understand is why it's working good with the debug version and not the production version. they are supposed to be exactly the same, and i don't see why it would be a crossdomain or applicationdomain issue. Did somebody experienced the same problem ?
    the thing is its a bit hard to debug, as the prod version isnt firing any message, and the debug version is just fine...:/
    thanks !

    i missed the "proloader" part...is it now mandatory to user proloader if loading external swf assets ? is it a normal behavior that the swf can be loaded with the debug version, and not the shop version ?
    thanks for your help. by the way, i'm making a small video to show you the problem,as i'm not 100% sure you understand it in my case

  • External swf plays to fast

    I am fairly new to using Actionscript and am having trouble
    figuring out what I need to do. I have a main document that calls
    modular .swf movies that I have set up. After I have audio play it
    loads up a .swf with a powerpoint that I converted to flash. When I
    play it in my main document it plays way to fast. I've tried
    "document.frameRate = 0.3" in the powerpoint flash, but that
    doesn't work. I need someone to point me in the right direction
    please.

    Your main loader swf ( the one you are loading all other
    external swf's into) controls the frame rate of all "Child" swf's.
    So, if you are loading a swf that runs great at 25 frames a sencond
    into one that is set to 50 frames a second, if will run twice as
    fast.
    IM assuming here that you are loading one into another. IF
    this is not the case and are loading single swf's into a basic html
    page, then you need to look at the expert settings in the PP
    application. Im pretty sure that once you have set the frame rate
    within the swf, there is nothing you can do externaly to control
    the rate.
    I would be interested myself if there is a way but Im pretty
    sure theres not.

  • AS3 load external swf problem, please help...

    Hey guys, I am really in need of an answer here. I would tremendously grateful if someone has the answer. I'll keep it simple and right to the point:
    1. I have created "index.swf" in AS3. Has it's own "MainClass" class.
    2. I created "holder.swf" which is the main landing page. Has 2 buttons, for the viewer to load the site in fullscreen or standard.
    3. In the timeline of "holder.swf" I have created 2 frames, 1st frame containing the buttons, second frame containing the AS3 external swf loader script.
    It does not seem to want to load my "index.swf".
    I have tested a million different ways, it load other swf's just fine, AS2 and AS3, but for some strange reason it just will NOT load "index.swf".
    This is driving me crazy, I have a feeling it has something to do with a class conflict. I have tried (import MainClass;) in the first frame of "holder.swf" and no luck.
    PLEASE GUYS, LET ME KNOW IF YOU KNOW THE ANSWER!
    THANK YOU SO MUCHO.
    Michael

    Hey kglad,
    Thanks for the quick reply!
    Well here is the problem... With the exception of a few things I need to update, as well as implementing some better preloaders etc... the site is running alright...
    About a week ago I decided that I wanted to site to start with the above landing page. A simple "holder.swf" which would give the viewer something to look at before entering the site... (ideally I want to find a script that will begin loading "index.swf" while the viewer is still on "holder.swf", but I'll figure that out later).
    Anyhow, I created "holder.swf" as I have many times before, and for some reason it does not seem to want to load "index.swf" into the second frame when instructed to do so... does that make sense?
    So... ideally I would like the site to start on the above graphic, then once the button is clicked, "index.swf" opens up...
    It's driving me crazy, because my code works on other swf's I've tested it with, just not with index.swf, which leads me to believe there is something in the MainClass.as file which is causing it not to load...
    What are your thoughts?
    Oh, and many thanks again!!!

  • External Swf on Android Air and IOS Air

    Hello
    Can android AIR and IOS AIR app download and play external SWF with code inside?
    I have created android AIR app(SDK version 4.0) which load external swf with simple movie clip on the scene.
    var loader:Loader=new Loader();
    loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onLoaded);
    loader.load(new URLRequest("2.swf"));
    function onLoaded(e:Event):void
         addChild(loader);
    I have installed this android AIR app on device but i do not see external swf on the scene.
    Thanks in advance

    So for ios as3 code must be like this one.?
    var _urlRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("2.swf");
    var _loader:Loader = new Loader();
    var _lc:LoaderContext = new LoaderContext(false, ApplicationDomain.currentDomain, null);
    _loader.load(_urlRequest, _lc);
    addChild(_loader);
    One more question: How exactly  i can add the external swf to the included files?
    Can you give link with information or some sample? Also, does it work on Android Air?
    If you have sample for ios Air or for Andoid Air i will be very appreciative.
    Sorry for my english.

  • What happens when the Main Flash is 25 fps and an external SWF file is 12 fps?

    Hello everyone,
    I have a Main Flash which is set to 25 fps. This Flash is
    used to load an external swf file which was created using 12 fps. I
    would like to know what really happens when the Main Flash loads
    the external swf file? Does the Main file forces the external file
    to be run on 25 fps or the swf file is run with its own 12 fps?
    Any ways, if someone can take the time and explain this, I
    would be greatful.
    Thank you very much and have a great day.
    Khoramdin

    the external swf plays at 25fps - all loaded movies will take
    on the frame rate of the parent movie.

  • Loading external swf fonts created with fontswf, loaded with a Loader, compatible with iOS

    Let me immediately start out by saying that I do in fact have a current working solution for using embedded fonts, generated by fontswf and working in an AIR ActionScript mobile application, and also currently working fine with iOS.
    My current app needs CFF fonts, so I currently use the fontswf tool to pre-generate the .swfs using:
    fontswf -4 -a [SomeAlias] -o [SomeFont.swf] [SomeFont.ttf]
    and then I am currently embedding them in my app source code .as for compilation using:
    [Embed(source="/swf/SomeFont.swf", symbol="SomeAlias")]
    public static var SomeFontClass:Class;
    I then have no problem registering them using Font.registerFont(SomeFontClass) and everything works fine.
    However, I would prefer to take the use of these swf fonts one step further and load them dynamically using a Loader so that I do not have to take the hit of having multiple CFF font swfs embedded in the main compiled SWF and so that I could even load an unknown future set of fonts without having to supply them as part of the app build.
    Now I have seen and read many blogs and tutorials where people have exported font swf from Flash Builder where you add an explicit 'Class' name or even made standalone .as static files compiled into standalone swfs only including the two lines:
    [Embed(source="/swf/SomeFont.swf", symbol="SomeAlias")]
    public static var SomeFontClass:Class;
    so that you also have a 'Class' involved. Then people use some form of appropriate applicationDomain.getDefinition("className") as Class
    to pull out the class for the font registration.
    My question is, how does one perform the same font loading and registration of fonts using a Loader only loading the .swfs produced directly from fontswf?
    It seems only a DefineFont4 is tagged in the swf, there doesn't seem to be a 'Class' per se to call on.
    More importantly, iOS apps cannot load external swfs with code in them, so my understanding is any extra wrapped swf that would contain a custom Class technique would fail the iOS requirement of only having one main SWF with any ActionScript compiled code.
    Is there an alternative to the 'Class' technique by grabbing the DefineFont4 tagged resource from the swf and instantiating a proper working Font class from that? One that would still be compatible with the restrictions placed on AIR mobile apps running on iOS?

    Ironically, just after posting this, Adobe released AIR 3.5 beta onto labs, and added multiple SWF support for iOS.
    While this new support makes it easier to manage your content across multiple SWFs and technically allows you to use the class based separate .swfs for each font if desired, the system still requires that all these SWFs be present at compile time when making the final app .ipa for iOS.
    So this still doesn't solve trying to load fonts after the app is already built. For example, as part of a downloaded in-app purchase mechanism.

  • Trying to properly code a menu with buttons that can go back and forth between external swf files

    I have a project I've been working on that, when properly coded, has a "main menu" with 4 "doors" (buttons). When the corresponding buttons to these "doors" are clicked, it should go to and play an external .swf file. If that doesn't make sense, think of a DVD menu. You click play movie, it plays the movie. When the movie is over, there's two buttons on that swf file to either play the movie over or go back the main menu, which is an external .swf file (Remember, we go to the movie from the menu, which is a seperate file). So far, the buttons work. The menu works. However, from the movie, at the conclusion, when I click the button to go back to the main menu, it displays the movie clip and the buttons, but none of the buttons work. I'm starting to think it has to do with the fact the main menu was written in AS3 and the movie was made in AS2. If anyone can assist me in being to able to keep both files and still navigate between the two, being able to bring up the menu from the movie and be able to play the movie again, and so on and so on, that'd be GREAT. I'm somewhat of a noob to Flash, but I learn quickly and I'm open to any suggestions. Here's the code for main menu, which I guess acts as the parent file, and the movie. If I get this to work, I essentially would duplicate the same actions for the other 4 doors, once I complete the environments for them. Thanks
    Main.Fla/Swf (written in AS3)
    (This is the action on the first frame, that has all the buttons. For this question, I'm just trying to properly code for 'Door4', which is the "door" to the movie.)
    import flash.display.Loader;
    stop();
    var myLoader1:Loader=new Loader ();
    Door4.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, jayzSwf);
    function jayzSwf(myevent1:MouseEvent):void
              var myURL1:URLRequest = new URLRequest("jayzspeaks.swf");
              myLoader1.load(myURL1);
              addChild(myLoader1);
              myLoader1.x = 0;
              myLoader1.y = 0;
    Movie.Fla/Swf (written in AS2)
    (This is action on the button that returns to the menu)
    on (release) {
              this.createEmptyMovieClip("container",this.getNextHighestDepth());
              container.loadMovie("main.swf");

    At least you're going in the correct (mis)direction. You have AS3 loading AS2. So that's not a huge hurdle.
    I believe all you really need to do is send your Main.swf a signal that the content it loaded (e.g. jayzspeaks.swf) is done and you want to get rid of it.
    The code I pointed you to asks you to (upon download and import then) instantiate it in both AS2 and AS3. They give a very simple easy to understand line of code.
    // as2, load this in jayzspeaks.swf
    var myBridge:SWFBridgeAS2 = new SWFBridgeAS2("connectionID", clientObj);
    // as3, load this in main.swf
    var myBridge:SWFBridgeAS3 = new SWFBridgeAS3("connectionID", clientObj);
    Make sure the connectionID matches between them. Set it to whatever you want.
    When you're done with your as2 loaded content you'd send a signal (over localconnection) back to the AS3 Main like they say:
    myBridge.send("someFunctionToUnloadContent");
    myBridge.close();
    You'd need to make the as3 function "someFunctionToUnloadContent()" (example purposes only name) and it should unload the jayzspeaks.swf that was loaded in the loader.
    Make sure you get that close in there so you don't drill up a bunch of localconnection objects just like the simple source code says.

  • External SWF only plays first few frames then loops

    Help!  I've been working on this for the past few weeks.  Have read everything I can read.  Have tried everything I that has been posted.  And still I can seem to get a simple external swf to load and play using AS3.  I have tried numerous ways with the same results everytime.  Here are a few of the scripts I have tried.  What I would like to have happen is to have one main timeline where I load sequentially external SWF files - there is no interaction required - it is a presentation that includes video and other Flash SWF files that I have created.  Now I just want them all in one flash file.  I had no problems with AS2 doing this, but I'm sure having fits with AS3!  please HELP - my deadline is this week and I'm not even close to being ready.  THANKS!

    Believe me, I'm feeling the pressure!!!  I sent a screen shot and it got kicked back!!!!
    here is the code I'm using in the main time line:
    var myLoader:Loader = new Loader();
    var url:URLRequest = new URLRequest("script1_3.swf");  // THIS can be any SWF file - same results
    myLoader.load(url);
    addChild(myLoader);
    The only thing that is in the main time line before this is a page roll over effect component - and if I remove that I have the same problem!  I'm sorry, I don't know what else to provide you without giving you my fla files which I tried to send and they were kicked back!!!
    HELP!

  • AS3: How to access and control embedded sounds in an external swf?

    I rarely use sounds in AS3/Flash. I am using Flash Pro CS6, but I can't seem to figure out how to access, control (play, stop, etc) sounds embedded in an external SWF loaded into the main SWF.
    It's easy to control them when embedded on the main swf. However, on an externally loaded SWR, I get all kinds of errors. For this app, I really need to embed them in the external SWF.
    I read several solutions, but none seem to work.
    I embed the sound an mp3 file called soundSegment1.mp3 using Flash CS6 import tool and then open the actionscript properties panel on flash to select the class name: SoundSegment1. Then I edit the class code and create a file called SoundSegment1.as and it's saved right next to my document class main.as in the same directory. The code of the SoundSegment1 class looks like this:
    package  {
        import flash.media.*;
        public class SoundSegment1 extends Sound
            public function SoundSegment1 ()
                // no code in here
            public function playSound()
                var soundSegment1:Sound = new SoundSegment1();
                var channel:SoundChannel = soundSegment1.play();
    Then, in my main.as, I have done several attempts to play this sound such as:
    var fileLocation:URLRequest = new URLRequest(SWFToLoad); loader.load(fileLocation); loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, progressListener); loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, completeListener); loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.INIT, initListener);
    function initListener(e:Event):void // I also placed this code on the completeListener and it didn't work {      loader.content.soundSegment1.playSound(); // doesn't work.  }
    I get:
    Line XXX 1061: Call to a possibly undefined method playSound through a reference with static type flash.display:DisplayObject.
    or, I also read that I should be able to do something like this anywhere in the Main.as file:
    var theClass:Class = Class(loader.content.getDefinitionByName("SoundSegment1")); var theSound:theClass = new theClass(); theSound.play()  //doesn't work either.
    I also tried on the completeListener:
    var TheClass:Class = e.target.applicationDomain.getDefinition("SoundSegment1") as Class; var theSound:TheClass = new TheClass();
    theSound.play()  //doesn't work either.
    I get:
    ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable SoundSegment1 is not defined. at flash.system::ApplicationDomain/getDefinition()
    I am stuck and I really need to get this to work. I would be genuinely grateful for your help.
    Thank you in advance for any help provided. I really need to get it to work, because I can't simply embed them in the main SWF or load them individually externally one by one.
    Thanks again!

    THANK YOU!
    I think your code may be over my head though. I think you are using an anonymous function which is not something I am familiar with (but I want to learn about if it's useful).
    I also don't know where the classS came from. I see that it's a parameter sent along with the event, but I don't really see where that came from.
    Someone at: http://www.kirupa.com/forum/showthread.php?305098-Playing-a-embedded-sound-in-an-external- swf&p=2658098#post2658098
    Is showing what seems to be an easier solution, but my problem there is I can't access the source file of the "child" swf....  ayayay.....
    I am going to tinker with your solution and see if it gets me anywhere. Thanks so much for your help again.

  • External .swf runtime linkage .pngs AS3

    Flash can compress .png files like Photoshop can compress
    .jpg files better than any other tool hands down.
    I have 77 .png files that are 1.8 .megs on my c: drive after
    I imported them and setting the file compression under the "File
    > Publish Settings" to 75% for jpg and published the .swf with
    all the .png on the stage the file size is 350K that's about 20% of
    the original file size of the .pngs downloaded file by file with 77
    separate request.
    I can create linkage in the shared .swf and test the movie
    with code in the shared .swf to add the movieclip holders for each
    .png to the stage but when I load the shared .swf into the main
    .swf Flash acts like it can't create the classes based on the
    linkage I setup or that the MovieClip linkage doesn't exist.
    I tried a test to have the shared .swf with all the .pngs and
    linked movieclips to add the assets to it's own stage and it works
    fine but that means a lot of my code and logic is included in the
    shared .swf that the designers need to add .pngs to. It's
    unfortunate AS3 sucks but I'm just about done with the project if I
    knew what a battle AS3 was going to be I would have stayed with AS2
    my next projet will be AS2 no question non at all. Anyway I setup
    "class" linkage identifier for each .png with a movieclip holder
    for each image. The 20% of the size for the pngs and one request
    vs. 77 separate request makes it worth the extra effort of
    importing the images, creating a holder movieclip with linkage but
    the main .swf that loads the shared .swf with all the assets and
    linkage can't see or create the assets like the shared .swf can
    when I test it.
    We need to have the main .swf get a handle of the linked .png
    assets and place them in the main .swf to load the assets to
    different parts of the main .swf. It's cute that the shared .swf
    can add the linked assets to it's own stage but not too useful.
    Also the way we deploy we cannot roll out a new release/build to
    update the .pngs but we can upload a new .swf to the asset server
    so the .pngs need to be in a separate .swf. I can get the shared
    MovieClip to add the linked assets to it's own stage when testing
    and when loading my problem is the main .swf that loads the shared
    .swf cannot create instances of the classes that are exported for
    runtime sharing using linkage.
    If it is possible I would like to know how the heck you get a
    handle on a linked asset in an externally loaded .swf. Preferably
    without creating my own prototyped insane class consisting of mega
    libraries of external .as files. Just a way to reference MovieClips
    holding pngs that have linkage and are setup for runtime sharing.
    It really shouldn't be this hard it's a simple task in AS2. I'm not
    looking for a coding competition or some wild class to do the job I
    want a few lines of code to create an instance of a class then
    reference to the linkage/MovieClip holding the .png to addChild it
    into a target movieclip.

    I solved it I'm loading 77 embedded assets in an external
    .swf that compresses 77 .png images without loosing quality it
    works great.

  • Button from External SWF to Play Movie in Main SWF

    Hi Guys,
    Ok I'm working in Flash 8, Action Script 2;
    I'm building a website, in which the 'Gallery Page' has a link to an external swf file, which is a scrolling clip of thumbnails.
    What I want to do, is create each thumbnail into a button, which will then play a Movie Clip from a frame located in the Main swf file.
    (So basically, each thumbnail button is a small photo, will play that photo in a large scale as a movie)
    eg.
    thumbnail1_btn  needs to go to main swf and play movieclip1.mc, frame 1
    thumbnail2_btn nends to go to main swf and play movieclip1.mc, frame 2
    I'm unsure of the code for this? Or if I've built this up wrong?
    If someone could help me out, that would be great!

    If you haven't set _lockroot on the loaded SWF, than a simple _root call from the loaded SWF will talk to the main SWF.
    IE:
    on(release){
    _root.gotoAndPlay(1);
    If you did set the lockroot, then call the level directly, via:
    on(release){
    _level0.gotoAndPlay(1);
    Once on the root level, you can access a movie clip as normal.
    So:
    on(release){
    _level0.movieClip1.gotoAndPlay(1);
    will call the movie clip "movieClip1" which resides on the timeline of _level0 (which is main.swf in your instance), and tell it to jump to the first frame and start playing.

  • Load and consecutively play external swf's

    Hi,
    I have three external swf files - part1, part2 and part3. I
    know how to load one clip but I would like to know how to
    dynamically load them into an empty MC and then play them in full
    consecutively without any fancy transitions so that it plays like
    one big movie using Actionscript (no button triggers!).
    I have some very BASIC actionscript knowledge but am not sure
    which way is best. If someone could give me some "simple" step by
    step advise it would be grately apreciated.
    Danielle

    Ok I followed your instructions and when I play the main swf
    (I call - load_swfs) file it plays part1.swf fine but then it gets
    to the first frame of part2.swf (which is blank) and just stops and
    doesn't go any farther! Did I put something in the wrong place?
    I've written what I did and where below.
    // In my main file (load_swfs) it's just a single blank frame
    with this code in it :-
    tl=this;
    swfA=["part1.swf","part2.swf","part3.swf"];
    dep=0;
    numLoaded = 0;
    totalLoad=3;
    lo=new Object();
    lo.onLoadInit=function(target){
    numLoaded++;
    checkIfAllLoaded();
    function checkIfAllLoaded(){
    if(numLoaded==totalLoad){
    holder1.play();
    } else {
    mc=this.createEmptyMovieClip("holder"+(numLoaded+1),dep++);
    mcl.loadClip(swfA[numLoaded],mc);
    mcl=new MovieClipLoader();
    mcl.addListener(lo);
    mc=this.createEmptyMovieClip("holder"+(numLoaded+1),dep++);
    mcl.loadClip(swfA[numLoaded],mc);
    // In part1.swf in the last frame is :-
    tl.holder2.play();
    this.removeMovieClip();
    // In part2.swf frame 1 is blank with a stop(); and in the
    last frame is:-
    tl.holder3.play();
    this.removeMovieClip();
    // In part3.swf frame 1 is blank with a stop();
    Let me know where I went wrong!
    Thanks

  • Enabling Parent button while external swf is loaded [AS3]

    Hello everyone,
    I am very new to Flash and it takes me a while to understand what code is trying to tell me
    The problem I am currently facing is as follows:
    After searching the net for hours I finally figured out, how to load an external swf into my main timeline. As far as I understand this main timeline is the "parent". Hence the loaded, external swf should be the "child" (a quiz).
    Now the child (a quiz) loads into the flash file and is played properly, but I cannot access the button on the parent anymore. Unfortunately, I really need the home button on the parent to exit the quiz and allow for new navigation within the flash document.
    I would greatly appreciate any help.
    Thank you all in advance.
    Kliph
    my AS3 Code:
    import flash.events.MouseEvent;
    function onClick611 (event:MouseEvent) :void
            gotoAndPlay("home_einf")
    home_btn.addEventListener (MouseEvent.CLICK, onClick611);
    import flash.net.URLRequest;
    import flash.display.Loader;
    import flash.events.Event;
    import flash.events.ProgressEvent;
    function startLoad()
        var mLoader:Loader = new Loader();
        var mRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("quiz.swf");
    mLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onCompleteHandler);
    mLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, onProgressHandler);
    mLoader.load(mRequest);
    function onCompleteHandler(loadEvent:Event)
    addChild(loadEvent.currentTarget.content);
        function onProgressHandler(mProgress:ProgressEvent)
        var percent:Number = mProgress.bytesLoaded/mProgress.bytesTotal;
    trace(percent);
    startLoad();
    stop();

    By simply using addChild like you have, you're placing the loaded content above everything on the display list - covering your button. There are a few ways to solve. The easiest, if it works for you, is to just make a new layer in your timeline - make it the top most layer, and place your home button in that layer.
    Then change your addChild line from:
    addChild(loadEvent.currentTarget.content);
    to:
    addChildAt(loadEvent.currentTarget.content, numChildren - 2);
    This will place the loaded content behind the button.
    Alternatively, you can set the button to export for AS and then add it after you add the loaded file. Or you can use content containers - empty sprites that you add first, and then fill with other objects, in order to control layering.
