Simple Channel Read and File I/O Problem

Hello
     I am having a simple problem with reading in two channels from a usb-6259.  I have 2 channels, reading in voltages, and I am wanting to read them in at 400K Hz.  I have used the DAQ assistant and the Write To Measurement File VI.  It is just a direct connection between the two.  I have the DAQ assist set up for taking in N Samples, which is set to 8M because I want to take in 20 seconds worth of data at 400K Hz.  Now the problem lies with the fact that I am getting a Out of Memory error.  This pretty much confuses me because the file that I will get is 220MB (I know this because I put a wait and got none continuous data for a total of 20 seconds worth of data at 400K Hz), and I have 2 GB of RAM, in whic i usually have 1.3GB free when I start the simulation.  So, now on to my actual question.  How is this system running out of memory?  How else can I program this to make this work?  Any feedback on this would be great.  Thank you.

Hello Michael B,
The DAQ assistant creates a lot of over head and this may be the reason why you are running out of memory. If you keep the Task Manager open while you are running the task, you'll be able to see that the memory keeps being used up by the data acquisition process. I would suggest not using the DAQ assistant and to use the lower level DAQmx VIs.
A good place to start would be Help -> Find Examples. Within Find Examples select Hardware Input and Output -> DAQmx -> Analog Measurements -> Voltage -> Acq&Graph Voltage Int Clk.vi. Go to the Block Diagram of the VI and change the "time out" to a much larger value. You can select two channels at the same time by using a comma (eg: Dev2/ai0, Dev2/ai1). Hope this helps.

    I think I found a Windows setting that is causing the issue. I'm using
    my LCD HDTV as the monitor for this computer, and in order to see the display easily, I have the following setting in Windows 7: Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Display > Make text and other items larger or smaller > 150%.
    When I change this to the default of 100%, the problems with Reader X in Firefox and IE disappear. Reader 9, however, works perfectly at 100% and 150%.
    Is this a known bug in Reader X? Since the problem only appeared when moving from Reader 9 to Reader X, it seems it's not an unsolveable incompatability or something that's too difficult to work around.
    Do any others with their displays magnified have this problem? Or does it work perfectly? Would anyone (preferably with Windows 7 64-bit) be willing to set their display magnification to 150% and see if they can replicate the problem?

  • How to modify a datafile using file read and file write

    I have a datalog file containing port and DMM setup information.  I want to read this file into an aray, update or modify it, and write it to a file.  I can read the file in, but I am at a loss on how to modify it since it is stored in an indicator.  Any suggestions?

    The simplest thing is to replace your indicator by a control, and to use a local variable to write your data into the control.

  • Reading TDMS files in Matlab - problems with the example code

    I want to use the TDMS files to store data and do offline analysis in Matlab, version 2009b (either on Mac OS10.6 or Windows XP).
    To test the data import in Matlab I tried the example from http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/0EEADA99DC7D00A4862572E30037C3A2 , but without success.
    I tried either with and without the path definition (as explained on the page I referred to before) at the start, and got back the following errors:
    with:
    ??? Error using ==> loadlibrary>deltempfiles at 559

    I found a few messages on the issue, dating from 2006 and 2007, that didn't lead to a satisfying solution and was hoping that, by now, there would be a solution to my problem.

    Hi Musk,
    Thanks for your answer.
    Unfortunately it didn't help as my problem is not discussed there. I have a problem with this line:
    loadlibrary(NI_TDM_DLL_Path,NI_TDM_H_Path);
    I said before that I was using 2009b, but I was mistaken, I have R2008a, but the 'loadlibrary' is opened in a 2008b editor (no idea why). On the Mac I have 2009b installed.

    Hi all,
    I'm running a 10.1.3 ADF application on an OC4J server (with 10.1.3 ADF libraries installed) in AS 10.1.2. The application runs fine for maybe 4-5 hours, and then in the redirected output log, I see:

    Neither of these stack traces contain any lines from my application or any libraries used by my application (except core SDK). There are other ADF 10.1.3 applications in the same container; none of them seem to have this issue, but I'm unaware of any relevant difference between the applications...certainly none of them (including the problematic one) directly perform file I/O.
    Does anyone know what might be causing these problems?
    Thanks much,

    I solved the problem. The original download was the "j2ee and web cache" download from the Application Server area. I later found a link to oc4j downloads from the JDeveloper pages that was really what I was after.

    Is it possible to use "File Naming" when you are using in a batch "Save for the Web" export ?
    What I want to do:
    I have images that I need to resize, crop and rename (change "filename.jpg" to "filename_850x490.jpg" and make an optimisation for the web
    I want to create an action that I can use in a batch

    I can use my action (resize, crop, save) and use file renaming option if I use "save as" options
    I can use my action (resize, crop, save for the web ...) but the file renaming option are not use at the export,
           So I have to create two actions (one for resize, crop and rename and an other to compress images with "save for the web"

  • Why no simple method for reading text files

    I'd like to know, after all this time why there is no simple method of reading ext files into a string.
    Yes, yes, I know all about buffered readers, (it took me long enough to figure them out) but they are cumbersome and seem to change every release (how many file methods have been deprecated...)
    Here's what I'm looking for:
    file.open();
    file.read(String);
    file.close();
    No single character at a time, no loop - the whole file into a single string in one shot. If buffers are used, i want it hidden.
    Perl, PHP, VB, C# all have this. Even Java has it when you write to a file.
    So why not on read?
    Yes, buffered streams are very elegant, but for what most programmers want to do, they are overkill and annoying.

    Just Dennis Ritchie's little joke.
    Do you have a better reason for wanting the feature
    other than that some other languages have it?Yes. It would save me time and help dozens of new programmers who continually ask this question in this and other forums. It is in other languages because people use it and want it - clearly Jarkata saw the need. If you don't like the idea, then I won't argue the point. We agree to disagree.
    Also did you have an answer for my question?in java.io.file you can do the following: (i've used it, it works) Granted, you still have to use the buffered output streams, which in my opinion should be abstracted for a simple text read and write.
    BufferedWriter outputStream = new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter(fileNewPath));
    outputStream.write(fileContent);
    outputStream.close();

  • Using JCA FTP and File Adapters to transfer files as attachments

    I am trying to develop a flow that picks a file up using the JCA FTP adapter and writes it using the JCA File Adapter. I can get this to work using opaqeElement but the issue I have is that the files that will be transferred are regularly very large > 1 GB and using the opaqueElement simply results in a OutOfMemoryException.
    Reading the Adapter documentation it seems that Reading/Writing file as an attachment may be an answer. I therefore did the following.
    . Created FTP Read and File Write adapters in JDeveloper
    . Inmported this in to OEPE
    . Created Proxy Service and Business Service and wired them together
    The problem i am having is that even though there is no error and the file is being read on the FTP server, the resulting file only contains that attachment details, the file is not a copy of the file that was picked up from the ftp server.
    I am assuming that this behaviour is not correct and that the file should be transferred in its entirity. Unfortunatly the documentation is not very detailed and I cannot find any examples on the internet.
    Can anyone offer any advice or even better suggest where I can find an example.

    System resources are finite and have a threshold limit for processing. The Oracle SOA Suite, dependent on system resources, also has certain size limitations, largely due to the underlying resources beyond which the system cannot process incoming requests.
    For example, Oracle JCA Adapters can process large payloads but the Oracle BPEL PM consumes huge memory when processing large payloads, which can cause OutOfMemory conditions and affect the whole system.
    You can try File ChunkedRead option.This will read your large CSV file in chunks so chances of memory out will be less. You can define your own chunk size.
    This is a feature of Oracle File and FTP Adapters that uses an invoke activity within a while loop to process the target file. This feature enables you to process arbitrarily
    large files. See below link's section "4.5.5 Oracle File Adapter ChunkedRead"

Can someone please direct me to a plain ole READER, I don't do anything but try and view a file online once or twice a month. • QTP can't read .mp4 files from JVC HM-100 cam...

    My QTP gives me the following message when I try to open an .mp4 file created with a JVC HM-100 camera: "The movie could not be opened. The movie contains some invalid data."
    VLC and iSkysoft (video converter) can read the file with no problem, so it can't be corrupt. I put a similar post in a thread about the JVC cam, but no one knew a solution.
    Right now, it looks like the only way to convert the mp4 files from the JVC HM-100 is to buy a video converter software for $50 because QuicktimePro, which cost me $30, can't do this, even though it claims to support mp4. Any ideas here?
    So in lieu of QTP, are video converters like iSkySoft reliable enough to use? Do I risk losing any quality? Am I forced to pay for 3rd party functionality again that I already paid for in QTP?
    Thanks... David

    Problem solved.
    I used the FREE software ffmpegX to convert the mp4 files.
    So why does FREE software do the job that PAY software like QTP promises to do, but can't deliver?
    Hmmm?

  • Security message means can't read PDF files.

    I have recently downloaded Adobe reader 9 and since then I haven't been able to r
    ead PDF files.  An error message says "Your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded".  I have since uninstalled the program and reinstalled Adobe 8.1.2. and the same error message comes up.  I have tried repairing the program, but no change.  Previous to this I was reading PDF files without any problems.  Very frustrating - please help if you can.

    Hello there,
    Thanks for posting. Unfortunately, you seem to be in the wrong forum: this one is for questions specific to Acrobat.com (www.acrobat.com). I recommend re-posting your question to the Adobe Reader forum, where it is more likely to be answered satisfactorily:
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/adobe_reader_forums/adobe_reader
    You may also want to search the Reader forum; when I did a search on your error message, I found the following thread (which doesn't directly apply to your situation, but may at least be a clue for you):
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2719178#2719178
    The error message that you're seeing may not have to do with Adobe Reader, but rather with your email client or computer's security settings; unfortunately, I can't provide any particular advice on how to rearrange those settings to allow for reading PDF files.
    I'm sorry not to be able to offer more specific help; best of luck!
    Kind regards,
    Rebecca

  • LSMW file read & convert file name

    Guys
    This is pretty hot - any ideas to automate will be helpful.
    Is there a way to programmatically change the default name for the LSMW file read and file convert names?
    For example if read & conv file is
    Plant_Master_Material.lsmw.read & Plant_Master_Material.lsmw.conv,
    I want to programmatically append userid and make the file name look like
    Plant_Master_Material_myid.lsmw.read & Plant_Master_Material_myid.lsmw.conv.
    It can be done manually via step specify file in LSMW, but I want to automate that step.

    Hi Iqbal,
    Its not possible to make it automatically,
    name for the LSMW file read and file convert will as such like this
    PROJECT_SUBPROJECT_OBJECT.lsmw.read & lsmw.conv.
    This can not be changed...if u need it u can have u r userid under u r object name...
    Reward if useful..
