Since downloading Mtn.Lion my epson printer doesn't work correctly & the entire system seems to be slower plus my iMac now disconnects from my wifi every time the mac sleeps. Can anyone help me with these issues?
I am having problems with my Imac (approx 1 yr old) every since I downloaded (from the App.Store) Mountain Lion. I am a working mom with 3 toddlers.....I have very little time to work on the computer which I primarily use for photograhpy needs. I am not computer savvy enough to figure out how to "fix" the new issues/problems and am frustrated. I am hoping someone can help me........
Issues just since downloading Mountain Lion:
1) My Epson R2400 printer is not printing properly. It wouldnt print at all from CS5 the first 2 days. Then just started printing. The prints aren't nearly as good as they used to be. I just installed Photoshop Elements 10 and have been able to print but the prints are just awful. I printed a test page and it was perfect. I've triple checked the settings in the print dialogue box to ensure the correct paper is chosen, etc. I've never let the printer manage the color before but it is the only option that gives a mediocre print at best.
I've gone to Epson.com. It says to update driver through Apple for Mtn. Lion. According to my computer I have no updates. Printer is connected via USB. Changed the ports, turned printer on & off. Emailed epson & they said to reset the print queue, which I did. Restarted the IMac Still no luck. (The error message I got when trying to print from CS5 is "filter failed." But, as stated before it just started printing today as I was typing this.
I print out pics quite a bit and it seems the only time I have ever had problems is when I upgraded the OSX system. Why is that?? When I upgraded to 10.7 is when I first realized my print quality went down.
2) Now every time I "wake" up my computer it has become offline and has to go through the steps to reconnect to my wifi. Never did that before Mtn.Lion. I purchased the Airport Extreme Dec 2011. My computer was always connected before the update. Now I have to scroll down & pick my network & wait for it to connect before proceeding. I double checked preferences and it is set up to check for updates automatically. What is that about??
3) It just seems that my system overall is slower. I love my mac but I am frustrated because I don't have the free time needed to do all this problem solving. I just need it to work properly when I have a few minutes to work on a picture. I imagine there are other issues, but these are the only 2 areas I've focused on since the upgrade.
I've read different views/feedback on Mtn Lion but haven't come across the printer issue or the wifi connection issue.
Can anyone direct me towards a solution? I really appreciate it!

She replaced both at once and she couldn't understand why her Artisan 730 was lower quality then her Epson R280 when they had the same specs.
Turns out the newer printer had the option to connect via wifi which we used during setup.
The driver options are completely different depending on how you connect.
Once I connected via USB the correct options were available and the print quality was better.
Looking at the R2400 it dies not have wifi, but while researching the problem for my wife someone esle was having an issue updating to the latest printer driver.
If you go into the print utility from the Printer and Scanner system preference and under the general tab you should have driver 5.5.
One user had to delete the old printer driver before Software Update loaded the newer printer driver.

On my MacBook Pro (w Snow Leopard) I always had to reconnect my wifi at home when it woke up. I upgraded my router from an old Netgear to a newer N D-Link and stopped having to do that.
I would be surprised you would have that problem with an Airport Extreme, you might check to see if there is a firmware update for it.

I have windows vista 34 bit, IE 8. I have had adobe reader on my computer for 7 yrs. Never had a problem with it until now. I have kept it updated, since it is vital to my work. Last week, I tried to open a PDF file for work, and I get a "white/blank page". I have uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Reader 9, 7 times, tried the "Repair tool". and nothing works. Can anyone help? I have very little computer knowledge.. do not understand computer language, or anything tech-- so please don't reply as a developer or IT tech language. Dummy it down for me.

Ok-- Everyone and anyone!!!! I really need help desprately.. I have called the company's web site IT department, it's not thier issue-- it's mine. In addition to uninstalling and reinstalling, making sure that everything is up to date on Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash and Sun Java, and Windows vista 32 (only updated) --- all these have the latest updates. I have done a System Restore to 5 days before the issue started. Nothing has changed. I still get a white/blank page on this one area. I am no longer able to iTunes wi-fi sync since I upgraded to the iPhone 5. When trying to connect, it stays in the discovery mode and never connects.I have to try and pair them all over again. Can anyone help me with major issues I'm having with my IMAC G4?
When starting up i get a flashing blue earth icon for a few seconds followed by blinking folder ? icon when it gets to the login windows starting screen it freezes up right before its almost done loading. I can tell you that this happened right after I deleted a file i had know business deleting, I knew I F*ED up right after i gave my password to to authorized it.(you can't me anywhere) I'm also having problems with my superdrive it won't read anything. Is this something that I can fix myself? would appreciate any suggestions you may have.
Usually, when you see a flashing earth icon on your desktop and then the computer
cannot find the hard disk drive's installed system, that means the computer is looking
for a Network Disk or a network system from which to run. (Could be you deleted a
part of some significant startup file, too.)
And if you have the OSX installer disc for the computer (or newer retail boot/install disc)
you should be able to start the computer up from the Installer disc and choose from the
submenu (do Not install a new system) to choose Disk Utility; repair disk / permissions
- while you are there - and then once that is done, quit Disk Utility, and Quit the installer;
using the menu options beneath the blue apple in the menu bar, and choose Startup Disk.
By choosing a Startup Disk (the computer's hard disk drive, with its own OSX system)
you should be able to get past the Network Disk blue earth on startup. --In other words,
in a healthy computer, once in awhile look into the System Preferences and in the icon
labelled Startup Disk; and see that your computer's hard disk drive is chosen or highlighted.
Otherwise, the computer sometimes has a hard time due to permissions or other issues, in
finding the installed system on the drive; it will look for something else. Also, after you get
it running correctly again, you can check to see if the SMART status is verified on the hard
disk drive. In fact, when you have the computer booted from an OSX installer/boot disc,
you can check that status from Disk Utility, in addition to "repair disk" and "repair disk
permissions" you can also click on the hard disk drive's brand name in the Utilty menu
and then see another window where SMART status is visible.
If the hard disk drive is too full or there are corruption issues developing, you may need
to remove stuff you have stored in there and archive it off the computer, maybe to an
external hard disk drive or save it to a blank disc media. The Apple Hardware Test which
came with the computer may be useful in checking for some problems; it is on a boot disc.
And, if nothing seems to work, the earlier link to information on how to Archive and Install
may be of help to troubleshoot the computer further. It may have other issues...

In most cases you can simply "upgrade" (meaning downgrade) directly from the installation. It would be a good idea to save your passwords & bookmarks just to be on the safe side. -

Have downloaded for example: Queen – Bohemium Rhapsody from a compilation album as well as a few complete Queen Album CDs into the iTunes library and then put them into playlists,
When I go onto my phone and select Queen on the MUSIC app using Songs tab at the bottom of the screen it will display all Queen songs and their resective Alum pics, that is all those not in a complilation album, .
If I know the song title I can select the songs tab and find the song that way,
I’ve tried fiddling with the settings in the iTunes app by going to ‘get info’ tab and trying to sort the problem out that way but am not having much luck.What I want the phone to do is show, for example all Queens songs including those in compilation albums. Can this be done, would be grateful for any ideas on how it can be done, that is if ic can be done, any ideas

The figures you mention only make sense on your intranet. Are you still using the same wireless router. The verizon one is somewhat limited as far as max wireless-n performace. For one thing it only has a 2.4 radio. I like many people who wanted wireless-n performance before they even added a wireless-n gigabit router, have my own handling my wireless-n network.

Helping with permissions often requires we know the specific error you find: what program, for example, and what you were doing when told you didn't have privileges.
If you are running a standard account, you have to get back to the admin acct to make changes. If you are not eh administrator for that computer, find out who is.
If you are in an admin account, trying a "Repair Permissions" can sometime resolve the issues. Find Disk Utility in Applications > Utilities. Select the indented name of your hard drive, then click the "Repair Permissions" button:
In OS10.4 this usually under a 2-minute operation. You will probably see a lot of entries in the Reulsts pane but you can ignore those.
