Can I download the latest version of Lion from Apple. I have heard that if I call Apple Sales support I can still get Lion from Apple. Lastly, what about Lion via the Thumb USB?

Replacing MacBook Pro's optical drive with SSD. What is the best way to migrate data?

I have a time machine backup on external drive.
I would like to:
1. clean install Lion on the new SSD (120 GB)
2. restore apps from my backup on the SSD
3. keep only data on the existing HDD
My questions:
What is the best way to make it?
Can I just keep the existing system on my non-SSD HDD, and after having Lion on SSD keep just data and delete the system libraries? Or is it better to format the whole disk and restore data from time machine backup (so it is not fragmented...).

What is the best way to upgrade my Early 2009 Macbook Pro 17"?

What is the best way to convert from PowerPoint 2007 to PDF?

In PowerPoint 2007 I know you can convert to a PDF by way of printing, save as or from the Adobe menu. However, these produce different results.
Is there a reason for this? Can settings be changed to ensure the results are the same regardless of what method is used?
Is there a rule of thumb on which method is best?

A lot depends on what you are after. If you use the printer, you will likely need to use a custom page setting to fill out the page properly and not leave spaces on the sides. I think the standard PPT page is 8.5X10, not 11. PDF Maker (or the Save As Adobe PDF) in PPT sets the size appropriately when I have used it. PDF Maker also adds links and such as appropriate, but the printer does not. Your other option is to use the Save As PDF or XPS which is the MS conversion.
When I tested, the print did go to an 8.5X11 with a border to fit on the page. The other three techniques created the PDF in the same page size as the PPT. The PDF maker and Acrobat menu methods gave the same results, but the file was about 2X the size of the MS method. I did not check the properties that created this different size, but you would have to look at the different options for the creation and see how they compare. The Adobe approach can be kept small also, but may not have used the same options as the MS approach.
If there were links, then the print will not embed these links and bookmarks, but the other techniques will. Maybe that helps some.

First you need to research all the problems people are having with the higher OSX versions, & make sure you have a bootable clone of what you have just in case.
then you must get 10.6 if they still have it, install it & update to 10.6.8 so you have the App Store to buy & download the huge 10.8 Installer.

You can use SuperDuper or CarbonCopy Cloner to accomplish that.
You'd need an external disk or mount your old internal in an enclosure.

take the files from the dvds and back them up as iso or just the files onto your computer. this way you wont have to rely on the optical drive.
the safest way is to take it into the apple store to clean,
but if there are danages on the DVD, you'll have to somewhere for them to buff it out. some gaming store will do this for you for a charge. You are better off taking the media off of the disks and saving them on your computer or usb stick, so on.

How did you transfer the files to the iMac. If you exported the files out of the MB library using Kind = Current you should get the edited version. Any other option may not.
If you want to keep the two libraries "synced" any photos you want to move to the iMac should be added to an album, connect the two Mac with a LAN, Target Disk Mode, Transferring files between two computers using FireWire, with WiFi. and use the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager to copy that album from the MB library to iMac library. It will also copy the original and edited versions, keywords, titles, etc.
