Since updating my Imac 27" 8 month old computer it will not let me open up any programs including safiri and iphoto. it is pretty much saying that i need to install all the program again, which i can not afford nor have the time too. can someone please help me be able to get it back to the way it was or help me to fix it so i can keep using it with this software update
For starters, you could boot from the OS X install DVD that came with your iMac (insert the disk, reboot and hold down the "C" key after the bong). On that disk is Disk Utility; run that, choose the iMac's hard disk, and run Repair Disk. If errors are found and repaired, try running it again until it's deemed OK.
If that doesn't help, try to get the OS 10.6.8 combo updater from Apple and run that. It will replace a lot of the Apple software that's already on your iMac and may refresh things so that they'll work.

Restore the iPod from the computer to which the iPod is synced. For information and instructions, see:

I HATE my new MACBOOK PRO, it will not let me open any PDF files and I downloaded the ADOBE READER three freaking times and it keeps saying that all the files are corrupt or damaged. I would rather have my 2008 Dell at this point. what is wrong with this thing
Perhaps the PDF files are corrupted.
Hit the command key and spacebar, a blue Spotlight in the upper right hand corner appears, now type Preview and press return on the Preview program.
Now you can try opening the PDF's from the file menu and see what's going on.
If they are corrupted, perhaps they are trojans from your Windows PC or gotten from a bad location online.
Download the free ClamXav and run a scan on the possibly infected folder. -

i upgraded to a macbook pro and gave my old macbook to my daughter, we tried to get her itunes library downloaded on it and it said that there was already an apple id assigned to that computer.
we went on the new one an de authorized all computers and then tried to re load her itune library on and it still isnt working. what are we doing wrong?

Please helpIt sounds to me like there are two separate processes being intertwined above:
1. Setting up your daughter's MacBook with identifying info; e.g., Apple ID for the user account on that machine.
2. Transferring the iTunes library (a very different operation).
Have you used Apple's Migration Assistant to move your daughter's information from her old machine to the MacBook? That would have avoided this whole issue.
If not, either start the process over and use Migration Assistant, or try to more carefully and precisely define exactly what you did to accomplish this transition. You said, for example, "there was already an Apple ID assigned to this computer." That statement almost certainly did not originate with iTunes. -
When I open an email with an attachment, it downloads the attachment and saves it to my downloads. At a later time, I return to the download list and try to open it and it will not allow me to open them. How do I open my saved downloads?
If the Open or Open Containing Folder entry in the right-click context menu of a file in the Download Manager is grayed then that means that the file is no longer in that original download location. It may have been removed by cleanup software or anti-virus software if you haven't deleted the files yourself.

Ok so I am constantly very paranoid on my mac ever since I was attacked badly a year ago and my system was totally compromised (I attached a second monitor and fiddled with hardware settings, so when the main screen went to sleep the other would stay on). Within a few days I saw him controlling my mouse and copying loads of my info (some valuable) into a dropbox account when screensaver or sleep was on. I've a pretty good reason to be cautious.
Suddenly in the last two days I've noticed that our Bt.HomeHub shows in explorer on the left as 'shared'. Strange thing is right clicking and getting info gives nothing but blank and spinning wheels (pics below, top left), when I click on the server it I get three requests from NetAuthSysAgent (three request diags bottom of pic 1). After confirming them I can try to join the network BtHuB4 Network as a 'registered user' with password (what password?! I never set up our hub to share anything, let alone act as a server) or as guest. Selecting guest just says connection failed.
Also I have two what seem like ghost drives of some sort appeared in my computer folder, both are hidden, and I'd like to know what their function is, what is stored there (both say zero bytes). Second Pic.
I use little snitch and have been monitoring what NetBiosd and Nptp have been doing and they seem to be making so many UDP connections even the little snitch network monitor crashes after a couple of seconds just monitoring it's actrivity, every time the traffic in any system process is ridiculously higher than others it's when it's connected to server [IP addy] bthomehub.home, I got a screen capture just in time after clicking view logs, you can see the box is pixelating after a second or two already. I'm pretty confused tbh what going on, when I start seeing things I don't know what they are or what they do pop up, and all user access to disable/change/modify/delete them is not there, I worry I've been hacked again!

I presume those ghost type volumes, net and home, are the ones showing up there with names as . and .. and run by 7 root admin. Shouldn't technically I be the user admin since only I use this machine? No idea why i'm listed as gary staff ... Soz for all the questions, I really wanna learn -

You will need to upgrade to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 in order to update iTunes to sync with your iPhone.
Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:

Remove the iPhone from the listing in the car. Turn off the car. Remove the car from the listing in the iPhone. Then put the car into discovery/pairing mode. Turn the Bluetooth on for the phone putting it in discovery/pairing mode. The two should connect.

LOL. I just posted same. It connects to my home, but when I'm at my office my phone (5) does not automatically connect to wi-fi. I have to manually do it all the time and it also keeps dropping it. A few other people here have droids, no problem. Never had an issue before the upgrade.

Since I installed the update for Mindjolt games, it will not let me in. Does anyone else have this problem?
Try resetting the iPad. Simultaneously hold down the Home and the On buttons until the iPad shuts off. Ignore the off slider if it should appear. This should take only about ten seconds or so. Once shut down is compete, turn the iPad back on.

Sounds like you can't update your device. You don't mention an error that it gives you. Take a look at both of these articles to troubleshoot.

If you started your device in recovery mode by mistake, restart it to exit recovery mode. Or you can just wait—after 15 minutes the device will exit recovery mode by itself.

Content is forever tied to the Apple ID that bought it. Apple does not transfer content from one Apple Id to another. Apple does not merge Apple IDs. You will never be able to access your content bought with another Apple ID with a new ID. -

Lion should still be available if you call the online Apple Store. If the Apple Store still has it, they will ask for your Apple ID and credit card number and will then send you a code which you can redeem in the Mac App Store. The Lion installer will download and run automatically.
Confirm compatibility with your current applications and Lion before you upgrade; in particular you will not be able to run any appications that were written only for PowerPC Macs.

DVD and CD sharing will not let you play or share DVD movies and audio CD's. Does any one know of a way to get music from a CD on a MacBook Pro wirelessly to an iMac?
I cannot find the eMac install disk, and I haven't been able to get it to start up from my 10.3 CDRm (holding down option or c), though I read something somewhere about these not being able to start up from system folders earlier than those they shipped with. I've dealt with this sort of thing several times before, and it always seemed to work to simply use target disk mode.
It definitely won't start up fromt the 10.5 DVD-R, and I'm pretty sure I tried putting the MBP into TM to use its optical drive as well, but it didn't work. But it's worth trying again, and I appreciate your input greatly.
