Since v10.6.1 I get ._ fork files on my afp connected linux network disc
Hi,
Well, the subject says it all. I connect to my development server (debian) using afp; I edit and create files there; but since the upgrade to Snow Leopard, I also get really annoying ._ files.
I searched on google about this; I did found a way to stop .DS_Store files to be created ( http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1629 ) ; but nothing about ._ files.
Also I am trying 'BlueHarvest' ; but that didn't help me as well.
So, does anybody knows how to stop these fork files being created on my linux server ?

The ._ files are "resource forks". It's a feature which only exists on HFS+ filesystems, and when an application creates one on any other filesystem the a "._" file is created to hold the data.
TextMate and some other applications don't store any important data there (just your last scroll position and stuff), and will allow you to disable resource forks.
But for most programs, you're stuck with them.

Why do I get multiple class files from 1 java file?
I wrote a dialog box using gridBagConstraints and another program RunPanel to run it as a java application. For the first time since playing with java, I get multiple class files from a single java file.
This seems very strange to me and wonder if anyone else has come across this and what could possibly be the reason for it. I did a clean (in Eclipse) just to make sure it wasn't garbage and sure enough they come back again.
I have ReconPanel.java from which I get ReconPanel.class with the addition of ReconPanel$N.class where N goes from 1 to 5.
The same thing in RunPanel but here there is only 1 extra file, RunPanel$1.class.
I'll include the code for RunPanel since it is relatively small:

Yes, you get number of extra class files based on your number of anomyous class es used. Like in your RunPanel, you get only 1 ..$1.class file, b'coz u have used only 1 annomyous class & i.e WindowAdapter. Take a look at this code :-

});Similarly, in your ReconPanel, you must have used such kind of classes 5 times, & hence u get such 5 extra classes. To avoiod such extra classes, if you can directly implement that interface or extend the class, if possible will be best. For example, for each button, u write

}Likethis, you can get rid of such numerous extra class files. In IDE, if you ask to add actionEvent, it will do the first method. To get rid of it, don't add event in the properties, instead, apply the second method. The same thing applies for anyother event. The first option is worthful, if by implementing, u got to write 5 functions from which u r gonna use just 1 method.

Getting a corrupt file message
i keep getting a corrupt file message when i connect the i-pod to my computer....and when i try to transfer songs to the i-pod they wont go into the device...i also noticted while trying to transfer songs to the device the bar on top of the screen never reaches the end of the song...it always stops before reaching the end...please help...and try to keep it simple im not to swift on my computer lol....thanks....
Did you try to delete the last backup listed in iTunes/Edit/Preferences/Devices?

I was finally able to log in through my system preferences after about three or four hours. I ran a disk utility to repair permissions and restarted and it seemed to work ok. -
my macbook pro was repaired and since then i can't get nor photoshop cs5 or bridge cs5 to initialize. a window appears that says it has initializing problems due to an icc profile issue.
there appear two error messages. the first one says that there has been a problem sincronizing because of a programme error. the second one appears after you clicked ok on the first window and says that photoshop couldn't be initialized because the icc profile is invalid.
does anyone know if i have to delete any system or photoshop preference? the illustrator is also having troubles. thanksthanks! what finnally worked better was renaming the «settings» folder in te «color folder» in the library with ~before the name. now indesign is asking me for thw icc profiles but still works, so i asume i can reinstall color settings only for indesign and go on.

my audio is being funny on my mac. It is brand new, and hasn't had trouble since this update. It gets stuck at full blast with a / though it. then no audio comes out. Once I turn it off it fixes it self thouhgh, or if I wait a while it finally fixes it's self. If this happening to anyone else?
I don't think that is normal behavior. The long press is possibly causing the system to force power down, which would then allow it to power back up.
Just to make sure, all drivers are up-to-date? Are there pending BIOS updates? If so, you'll want to make sure it can restart properly before applying the BIOS update
Try an Ubuntu LiveUSB or LiveCD to rule out software issues.
If that doesn't work, try taking out the battery and AC, pressing the power button ten times, then holding it for ten. This is usually the remedy for another issue, but try it anyway.
If that doesn't work, then try resetting the BIOS settings. Then try unplugging the CMOS battery overnight. Otherwise, might have to call for warranty.

You're ignoring context. On the old Apple Discussion Groups I never posted replies like that, instead giving people relatively detailed answers. My cover albums o iTunes are just fine But when i sinc my iPhone the covers get All wrong and mixed up. What can i do?

Before this last upgrade, when I would create a file and do a "Save As" it would always open "My Documents" by default, which is what I prefer. But since the upgrade it opens in some anonymous file, to which I have to go through several steps to get to My Documents, and I can't seem to select the default in my preferences. HELP PLEASE!!!
