Single form to update multiple tables

Hi,
I have a strange request but I hope it makes sense.
I have to create a front end to maintain roughly a 100 tables, this will increase to about 200 in the future. I have no control over the table structure so this is what I am stuck with.
I could create a tabular form for each table but this would mean that each new table that comes on line I would have to add another page
So rather than doing this what I thought was having one dynamic tabular form where the column headings would come from the table / column headings and the form get / update would be dynamically created. One problem I cant guarantee the tables will have the same number of columns.
So the user from a drop down list could select a table name and that table will be displayed in a tabular report, they select another table from the drop down list and that table is displayed on the same page.
That way there would be only one form and I could add a page where the users could add additional tables to be used by the app as they become available
Is this possible using apex?? Has anyone done anything similar before and if so are there any pointers or examples they could give me.

The next thing I have to do is make it work with tables with different numbers of rows, do you have any tips or hints on how best I can achieve this??

Can we use single DB Adapter for multiple tables

Hi,
I have 3 tables. ONE is the Master table and other 2 tables having Primary and foreign key relationships with the Master Table.
Data is enter in the Tables 2 & 3 (based on Master Table Primary key)
I have to use a DB Adapter in BPEL Process which will be in Transaction (what type of Transaction is Best in such a Scenario).
- How do i implement it in BPEL.
- Can i use a Single DB Adapter for Multiple Tables ? (*Views* should not be created for tables 1, 2 & 3),
as we want to avoid using multiple DB Adapters, as in future Tables may increase or decrease...
- while in Transaction if Table 2 fails in Inserting / Updating, it should roll back on error and also if Table 3 fails in Inserting / Updating, it should roll back table 2 and Table 3.
- how access to concurrent users is maintained / managed in such a scenarios.
But everything should be done using Single DB Adapter without creating a separate view.
Is this Possible in BPEL..
If not, How do we design, Implementation such a BPEL Process in Transaction with a best in Performance (both BPEL Process & DB Resources)

I have few quires.
If we use PL/SQL, how do we implement transaction and Exception Handling appropriately based on the Error / Exception in BPEL.
If the Table 2 or Table 3 gives out Error / Exception, i have to handle it separately and intimate accordingly.
Suppose, if Table 2 got Error / Exception - Error Handling would be 'Roll back due to error in Table2'

Hi All, Is there any way to update multiple tables in a single query. I know we can write triggers. Apart from triggers, is there any other way available in SQL Server. I am using 2008R2.

Two forms that update differrent tables on the same page?

I tried to add two forms that update different tables on to one page.
Problem is when I do that the forms gives me an error saying the field does not exist. It's like it is trying to update one table with the other tables fields.
As an example Say I have one forms that is for people table and another one that is the Jobs table.
When I go to update the people table, it sends the data for the jobs fields too I get an error like the field job description does not exist.
I have two different forms for these and everything.
I would hope it is possible to have two forms that update different tables on the same page.

I was trying the exact same thing, but i managed to work round it by setting the steps to hide one region, so the user would enter the form see one region submit the region then direct back to the same page with the different region visible and the original hidden.
I don't know if this would be acceptable for you...

Single result set across multiple tables

Hi - what's the best way to perform a single query that can pull
a single result set across multiple tables, ie., a master table
containing subject details and child table containing multiple
records with detail.
I know how to do this for two columns in the same table via
indexing, but how about across tables?

I am not sure if I understood your question, but you can use
Intermedia Text with USER_DATA_STORE to create an index with data
source from multiple tables.
(see technet.oracle.com -> products -> oracle text)

I have used the Scripted JBDC resource as follows;
go to Resources > Configure Types and select Scripted JDBC > Save
at Resources, select resource Type Actions > New Resource
select Scripted JDBC from the drop down, this should start the wizard
the wizard will guide you with lots of questions.
The one problem we had is in the Action Scripts (second wizard page). we found the example scripts
at the webserver root /idm/sample/ScriptedJdbc/SimpleTable/beanshell
the above scripts had to be modified to the SQL required for the application, but it worked well with the example databases and codes that it is easily understood.
there are several examples of different table types here... there are lots of options, see the README iles for each type

Insert/update multiple tables from one form.

I'm working on an app. that requires the user to fill out a form. The contents from the form is then used to either insert new records or update existing records in multiple tables. Is that possible? Can someone give a details example?

You should create a form like you would create it having one table. Use row_id as primary key. The rest of the process are done by the triggers - those will take care of updating the right table depending which column was hit.

Is it possible to update multiple tables with a dynamic form?

I have columns from two tables populating a dynamic form. I am trying to have the form update both tables on submit. I have tried both a linked transaction and a custom transaction but I am not making progress. Only the master table is being updated. Is it possible with ADDT to update two tables with a dynamic form?

How to alter a Form to modify multiple tables

I want to create a form that will insert or update into multiple tables at once.

In this example I have 3 tables:
Customer (Cust_ID, Name,Address,Email,Phone);
Account_Manager(AM_ID, Name,Address,Email);
Customer_Account_Managers(Cust_ID,AM_ID);
A customer can have 0 to many Account Managers.
I have created a form on table with report with which I can see a report of all customers and click Edit to edit a customer or Create to create a new one.
In this form I want to add a select list that includes all Managers (I know how to create a select list and how to access it's value). I also want a report on the Account Managers which are associated with the customer, and I want to be able to add to this list, which will be saved into the Customer_Account_managers table as soon as i click Save.
Please provide me with some tips as to how to do this.

How to use one form to update two tables

How can I do that? HTMLDB wizard or form on table doesn't give me an option to use more than one table in a form or I don't know about it. I created new process which redirects the form to another page after submitting the form. On the second page I created new process which uses the same variables from the previous form page. This process runs on page load before header but it is just not working right.
So, what is the proper way to update two tables with the same form fields?

Are you sure about that? I have a page, which populate some of the items from TableA, using manual select statement, and after the user input, save some of it in TableB, using Automatic DML. No ARF in this process and it seems to work just fine. Come to think of it, what about a simple form, populated entirely by the user input, and then being saved to the db, using Automatic DML? No ARF here also.
For the problem in hand, if you can't have more then one Automatic DML per page, I think that the simplest solution will be to define a pl/sql process, with two INSERT statement to the two different tables.

Creating a form that populates multiple tables

I need to create a registration form which inserts data into multiple tables (USERS (master-table), PHONES, ADDRESSES, EMAILS, etc) at once. I've been looking through the docs and the only way I've found yet is to build the form on a procedure. Other methods have restriction on using maximum of 2 tables.
What is the best approach for building a form on multiple tables in htmldb?

How to update multiple tables using results from query

I'm a bit rusty on this stuff and am hoping for some help.
Table 1 is:
location_id, location_name
Table 2 is
location_id, employee_id and misc. other columns
Then there are multiple tables with associated data, keys being location_id and employee_id.
There are no established relationships.
Trying to come up with a process to change location_id for all employees assigned to a particular location.
It seems to me that the basics are
select employee_id from Table2 where location_id='xxxxxx'
Then take each employee_id returned and change their location_id in each of the other tables
I'm not clear on how to load the returned employee id's as variables and then loop through them.

HCM Processes and Forms : Using single Form Scenario for Multiple Countries

Hi ,
I have a requirement to design a HCM P&F form ( Single Process, Single Form Scenario ) to support multiple countries. Form fields should be visible/invisible based on the country ( derived from the login Manager). please help me with the following questions.
1. Is it right way to enable/disable the fields in the same form scenario for multiple countries ( Approx. 20-25 countries)
2. Is there any limitation to no. of fields on the form? does the form performs well with multiple dynamic conditions?
3. If yes, what is the best way to do this? through Java Script / Back end Generic Service?

-You can use same form scenario or process for multiple countries if you are using fields based on international structure HCMT_BSP_PA_XX_R*. If you intend to use country specific fields then you may like to use different form scenario for different countries.

- As such there is no limiation for the fields.Yes, form performs well with multiple rule configurations.
3. If yes, what is the best way to do this? through Java Script / Back end Generic Service?
I interpret you would like to derive & show fields based on same backend logic, in that case you should generic service.
If you want to show fields based on manager's logon then you should also use authorization BAdi.
