Single source for different online help guides

I am glad that the single source layout pod in RH7 supports
different channels.
I also need to output to different online webhelps using
shared topics. This is what should be called single source.
Is it the best practice to create a set of taylored and
overlapping TOCs for a related set of online helps?
My working environment consists of a single software product
with different user interfaces for different types (and levels) of
users. For each type of interface, a different webhelp is mounted.
How can I make sure that the online help title displayed in
the web help browser tab is the correct one for each variation of
the online help?

Single source is anything that lets you get more than one
output from one source, be those outputs ten different webhelp
outputs or just one and a printed document output.
You can have as many webhelp outputs as you can manage. Right
click and add new ones or copy existing ones as a base.
Best practice depends on your content. You can have different
TOCs for each output or you can have a smaller number and apply
conditional tags. So with say 10 outputs you could have just three
or four TOCs and apply conditional tags to vary them. It's whatever
works best for you and can be understood by anyone you work with.
The scenario you describe would be ideal for the way RH
works.
The title bar and browser tab take their text from the
Project Title in Project Settings so you will need to change that
for each output.

    We have replicated 4 value mapping entries from R3 to XI having the same Context , Agency , Schema and value for source, but each of the 4 values has the same Context and Agency but different Schema and Value respectively.
    To illusstate :

    This value mapping is not working and we always get the source value as the result.
    We are wondering if the reason for this is that we use the same source for different targets. But we are not 100 % sure of it.
    When I read the documentation on Value mapping or when we use the value mapping standard function in graphical mapping, we pass the context , agency and schema of the source and target respectively and the source value to get the target value, and this combination is always unique in our case as seen in the above example.
    Has anyone faced this kind of an issue, if yes I would appreciate if anyone could help us resolve this problem.

    From the below what I understand is that you are not able to do value mapping for the follwoing
    1     A
    2     A
    3     B
    As value mapping allow one to one mapping only. Please do it like as mentioned below
    1     1*A
    2     2*A
    3     3*B
    Then in the graphical mapping of Integration Repository do the mapping for the same as shown below
    source field > VALUEMAPPING> UDF--> TARGET Field
    In UDF suppress the value of  1* , 2* , 3* which can be done as follows
    create one UDF with one input field
    //write the code as below to suppress the field
    return input.substring(2);
    Here the davantage of using 1* , 2* , 3* etc is that you have the option to use value mapping for 100 values which I think is not normally the case for any Interface.
    If you have same source you can do the same thing for that.

  • Need suggestions for proofreading online help files

    I have created online help docs off an on for many years...
    and have contemplated this issue several times and never come up
    with a really good answer.
    Right now, the product manager is tryiing to proof one of the
    online help files that i've COMPLETELY revamped and he's
    complaining about the time this is taking and how difficult it is
    because not all topics are in the TOC...
    so I suppose i could regnerate the TOC and include EVERY
    SINGLE topic... but I was wondering if anyone else had any other
    suggestions for best practices when it comes to reviewing online
    help files.

    Umm!. I have to admit that I find your approach of adding ALL
    topics to the TOC works as well as any. However it does cause
    problems where one or more popup topics appear in the same topic.
    This causes a bit of uncertainty unless there is a clear indication
    in the topic where a popup exists and an understanding of what TOC
    topic to look at. What I tend to do is have a piece of text (e.g.
    see popup titled xxxxx) which has a conditional build tag on it.
    Then you include the build tag when you compile. I also tend to
    have all the popups in a separate book in the TOC. You can then
    easily remove all the popups from the finalised output. It means a
    bit of tossing and turning between TOC chapters but seems to work
    reasonably well. You could also produce two printed copies, one
    containing the popups and another containing the main topic
    content. Hope this helps solve your conumdrum.

    I think I've accidentally marked the problem as solved, but in fact it's not.
    What is needed is that the firefox remember different input methods (languages, for instance, En or Fr) for different tabs so that when I switch between several tabs I don't need to change the layout.
    Chrome remembers my language settings for each tab, so it's not always one language for all the same tabs there. I haven't found such an option in Firefox so far.

    I have created a payment method  and selected "Payment per due day " option in payment method company code settings.
    Even I have selected that option, Payment will not happen grouping for the items with same due date
    for ex : I have two open items with one due date and another open item with another due date so when I am trying performing F110 system should make a single payment for the item with same due date and seperate payment for another item.
    But system making single payment for all items
    Could you please suggest anything how to make a seperate payment with due date.

    Please check Vendor Master data: FK02 ->company code data -> Payment transaction accounting: unflag 'individual payment'.

  • Different sources for different Opportunity transaction types

    Hi Experts,
    We have a requirement where we have two different Opportunity transaction types: Sales and Service Opportunity.
    Now we want to have different surces for these opportunity types i.e. Sales Opportunity Sources should not be viisble in Service Opportunity and vice-versa.
    In SPRO, I checked we can maintain sources but can not link it to a specfic transaction type.
    Any views on how can we achieve this?

    Hi Aakshi,
    You can dynamically determine the follow up transaction types for the sources apart from what is maintained
    in the customizing. It is not the sources that are maintained in the customizing, instead the target transaction types
    are maintained in the sources. So you have to implement your requirement at the source level.

    I have used SSF_OPEN and SSF_CLOSE function modules.
    If the same smart form is called n times it outputting fine but depending upon the condition , corresponding smartforms should be called. In such case a case 'formatting_error' is the exception when calling the function module name.

    Hi all,
    I have a project that is written with RHX5 and delivered as a
    CHM.
    This project is two years old now, is mine right from the
    start and pretty much looks as I wanted it to look like :-)
    Now, the bad guys have rebranded the product that this CHM
    document,
    so I am asked to provide two CHMs, one for each brand, that
    differ from each other as follows:
    - some keywords (product name, key GUI elements, etc.)
    - all Visio drawings (embedded as GIFs)
    - all screenshots
    - most of the topic names
    - some of the topics
    The project is about 100 topics long.
    Both products are going to evolve similarly, but packed and
    shipped differently, hence I will have to deliver the two CHMs.
    Is it possible to keep a single source for this project,
    or, should I split the project into two RH projects?

  • Consolidate Payments for different assignments

    Dear Friends,
    Our scenario:
    We have a group of Employees with an high turnover, which are processed by a dedicated Payroll.
    Sometimes these people are terminated and rehired several times within the pay period.
    As a result of this, it's quite common for the same Employee to receive more than one payment for the same period - one for each assignment processed.
    In most of the cases, the Payment Method is the same for different assignments related to the same person (we have a routine in place copying Pay Methods from an assignment to the other).
    Business Case:
    We would like to reduce the number of payments and related transfer fees.
    Also in some cases the bank charges the Employee her-himself for receiving the honorarium.
    The idea is then to consolidate, at Employee level - the payment - or the prepayment.
    Meaning, generate one single Payment for different assignment using the same Payment Methods.
    Do you have any suggestion?

This box is only visible if the functionality is enabled for your localization.
    Note: If you check the Multiple Assignment check box, make sure it remains checked throughout your payroll processing. Oracle Payroll reports in error if some of your payroll processes support multiple assignment processing and others do not.

    I installed forms 9i and Changed NLS_LANG parameter to AMERICAN_AMERICA.
    The normal menus is in English now but still the menus for the online help is displayed in Arabic Language.. I want the whole development enviroment to be in Egnlish Language Interface..
    How Can I do that???

    Sounds like a Bug - I suspect that the Help system (because it is Java) is picking up the Environment settings from the control panel rather than from NLS_LANG - If you change your locale using the control panel does it then change?
    Anyway you shoudl log a TAR with Oracle Support to get them to log a bug on this.

    Can someone please tell me where to send in a complaint for the online help.  WHen trying to upgrade my tv plan it says one price online but is charging me more.  When talking to one of the online chat agents, they told me that the price would be the more expensive price and it was due to an issue with the "Create your own bundle" page that the price that I see is incorrect.  I feel like this is false advertisement.  Online you are advertising that if I want to upgrade it would be $5.00 more per month.  Yet you are charging me $10.  How is this fair?? I was told that it was "Verizon's policy and price".  I see one price and am being charged more.  It isn't my problem that there is an issue with your website.
