Single SQl Query with different where conditions
Experts,
I have a requirement to design a report. Here are the details
I have Report table layout
Profit center Gross sales (This Year) Gross Sales (Last Year) % change Year of Year
The Report has a selection of entering the Start Date.
I have a single table in oracle which has profit center and Gross Sales Values on daily basis.
I want to write a single sql query to calculate both Gross Sales current year and Gross Sales Last Year. I can calculate Gross Sales Current Year by putting the where condition for start date = Current Year Date which i pass through report. I want to calculate the Gross Sales Last Year in the Same query by putting the different where condition i.e start date = Last Year date based on the date input.
I dont know how to put two where conditions in single query for two different columns.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Regards
Santosh
instead of changing your where clause couldn't you just determine the yearly totals from your table and then use the lag statement to get last years total?
something like this?
I just made up 10,000 days worth of sales and called it fake table it is supposed to represent a variant of the table you were describing as your base table.
with fake_table as
( select trunc(sysdate + level) the_day,
level daily_gross_sales
from dual
connect by level < 10001
select yr, year_gross_sale, lag(year_gross_sale) over (order by yr) prev_year_gross_sale,
(year_gross_sale - lag(year_gross_sale) over (order by yr))/year_gross_sale * 100 percent_change
from
(select distinct yr, year_gross_sale from
select the_day,
daily_gross_sales,
extract(year from the_day) yr,
extract(year from add_months(the_day,12)) next_yr,
sum(daily_gross_sales) over (partition by extract(year from the_day)) year_gross_sale
from fake_table
order by yr
)

Dynamic select query with dynamic where condition
Hi all,
I want to use the dynamic select query with dynamic where condition. For that I used the below code but I am getting dump when using this code.
Please advice, if there is any other way to achieve this requirement.

Select query with optional where condition
Hi,
Can Anybody help me out in the following problem?
I have the following query in a procedure.
SELECT replace(shipper_name,'\',' ') as shipper,
sum(teus / cntSailings) as teus
FROM VW_CONTRIBUTION,
VW_TOTAL_SAILINGS
WHERE VW_CONTRIBUTION.dir = VW_TOTAL_SAILINGS.DIR
AND VW_CONTRIBUTION.line = VW_TOTAL_SAILINGS.LINE
AND VW_CONTRIBUTION.accounting_month = VW_TOTAL_SAILINGS.ACCOUNTING_MONTH
AND VW_CONTRIBUTION.accounting_year = VW_TOTAL_SAILINGS.ACCOUNTING_YEAR
AND VW_CONTRIBUTION.Principal = arg_principal
AND VW_CONTRIBUTION.Dir = arg_direction
AND VW_CONTRIBUTION.line in ( arg_service )
AND VW_CONTRIBUTION.POL_country = arg_pol
AND VW_CONTRIBUTION.POd_country = arg_pod
AND VW_CONTRIBUTION.salesOffice = arg_SalesOffice
AND VW_CONTRIBUTION.salesregion = arg_SalesRegion
AND VW_CONTRIBUTION.cargo_type = arg_txtCargoType
AND VW_CONTRIBUTION.eqgroup = arg_ContType
AND VW_CONTRIBUTION.eq_size = arg_txtSize
AND VW_CONTRIBUTION.acct_date between arg_from_date and arg_end_date
GROUP BY shipper_name
ORDER BY teus desc;
Here some of the arguments are optional(Eg : VW_CONTRIBUTION.salesOffice, AND VW_CONTRIBUTION.eqgroup etc. ) and the values can be null. When they are null, I want them to be excluded from the where condition. Can anybody suggest me a solution for this?
Thanks,
Shalet.I guess i misunderstood your original question.
The clause
AND (VW_CONTRIBUTION.salesOffice = arg_SalesOffice OR VW_CONTRIBUTION.salesOffice IS NOT NULL)
will cause the where clause to evaluate to FALSE anytime salesOffice IS NULL so the record will be excluded.
I thought you were asking how to not compare the value if the field contained a NULL.
Glad you found what you wanted. -
SQL query with different plans
Hi,
Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi
I cannot paste the query plan due to company policies. I can see issue with the query plan, where it is doing partition range scan (with hash join) on one environment due to which it has full table scan, on and nested loop on the second environment with Index range which is fast as compared to partition range scan.
I have checked the stats,looks updated.
Any thoughts,...How, exactly, did you check the statistics? Did you just check when they were generated? Or did you check whether they were actually (more or less) the same?
Is it an issue with bind variable peeking?
Are there optimizer-related parameters that are different either for the databases or for different systems?
Have you looked at a 10053 trace to see how the slower system is evaluating the faster plan?
Unfortunately, without more information, it's going to be nearly impossible for us to help you narrow down the problem. We can speculate about things that might cause one environment to generate a different plan but we're blind to the details that would help us figure out which factors are actually influencing your particular systems.

SQL query with lots of conditions issue..
Working on A large query that hits a large DB of parts.
The table I am given these parts are broken up into 4 fields.
Section,Groupid,Subgroupid,Component
When I hit this table, i am given a list of all the possible combo's of the 4 fields that can be used for that lookup at that time.
The problem is its SLOW when this list is pretty big.. a lot of times, over 200 rows of combos... so end up with something like below,
but stripped down for explaining...
So a generic version the query..
Select * from PartTable where
( (section='blah1') and (groupid='blah2') and (subgroupid='blah3') and (component='blah4') ) or
( (section='blah5') and (groupid='blah6') and (subgroupid='blah7') and (component='blah8') ) or
( (section='blah9') and (groupid='blah10') and (subgroupid='blah11') and (component='blah12') ) or
( (section='blah250') and (groupid='blah251') and (subgroupid='blah252') and (component='blah253') )I have changed it to a deal where I have a subquery and do a case statement to query a subquery, but the problem I run into that
is, is that 10g only allows so many. I can get around this by when i generate the query, to just make multiple case statements and then
modify my where statement.. but seems sloppy.. but "Works" .. using the OR statement deal, it can take near 30 seconds... with the
sloppy looking multiple case statement field deal, it takes 1.6 seconds..870023 wrote:
Try creating Index on these columns. Will help in CPU cost.That is one of the most useless pieces of advice I have ever seen.
CPU cost does not necessarily reflect performance. Creating too many indexes can also slow down performance. The first way of tackling a performance issue is to find out what the cause is, before trying to figure out the best way to fix it.

How to write the select query with complex where condition
Hi all,
Can u help me in writing following select query.
select * from zu1cd_corr where time_stamp between firstday and lastday .
In the above query time_stamp contains the date and time.
where as firstday and lastday contains the dates.
I need to compare the date in the time_stamp with the firstday and lastday.
But time_stamp contains the time also and it is char of 14 characters length.Hi,
If that is the case u can do as advait specified....
if the firstday and secondday are select-options then declare two more variables having 14 character length and then concatenate '000000' to firstday variable and '240000' to last day variable and then write ur query.
CLEAR : lv_firstday,
lv_lastday.
concatenate firstday '000000' to lv_firstday.
concatenate lastday '240000' to lv_lastday.
ranges : r_Date for zu1cd_corr-time_stamp.
r_date-sign = 'I'.
r_date-option = 'BT'.
r_Date-low = lv_firstday.
r_Date-high = lv_lastday.
append r_date.
select * from zu1cd_corr into table it_zu1cd_corr where time_stamp in r_Date.
I hope it helps.

Query with two where conditions
HI
SELECT ENAME FROM EMP WHERE
SAL > 1000 AND JOB='CLERK';
How to implement in CMP(Entity bean)
thank uat this point mapping to do this king of query would be on the container specific file. I will tellyou how this is done on a Orion App server. I bet that others are close to the same.
first you make a finder method in your bean for the enploy name:
Collection findBigClerk();
Orion generates a file from the ejb-jar.xml file called orion-ejb-jar.xml. this is where the O/R mapping is changed for the beans.
each method in a bean has short definition
<finder-method query="EMP.SAL>1000 and EMP.JOB='CLERK'">
Assuming that the CMP is mapped to the EMP table when you call findbigClerk it will add the above query to as a WHERE clause.
Then get the name from the interface.
Again, this is how I would do this on an Orion App server. Others will be simular until O/R mapping is moved from server-specific to the ejb-jar.xml file
hope this helps a little -

update two different tables by a single sql query: -
SQL Query (updateable report) Region - Conditionally Hide and Set Values
SQL Query (updateable report) Region - Conditionally Hide and Set Values
Outline of requirement :-
Master / Detail page with Detail updated on same page using SQL Query (updateable report).
The detail region has the following source
SELECT item_id,
contract_id,
CASE WHEN hardware_id IS NOT NULL THEN
'HA'
WHEN backup_dev_id IS NOT NULL THEN
'BD'
WHEN hardware_os_id IS NOT NULL THEN
'HS'
END item_type,
hardware_id,
backup_dev_id,
hardware_os_id
FROM "#OWNER#".support_items
WHERE contract_id = :P26_CONTRACT_IDThe table support_items implements arced relationships and has the following columns
CREATE TABLE SUPPORT_ITEMS
ITEM_ID NUMBER NOT NULL,
CONTRACT_ID NUMBER NOT NULL,
HARDWARE_ID NUMBER,
BACKUP_DEV_ID NUMBER,
HARDWARE_OS_ID NUMBER
)A check type constaint on support_items ensures that only one of the fk's is present.
( hardware_id IS NOT NULL
AND backup_dev_id IS NULL
AND hardware_os_id IS NULL
OR ( hardware_id IS NULL
AND backup_dev_id IS NOT NULL
AND hardware_os_id IS NULL
OR ( hardware_id IS NULL
AND backup_dev_id IS NULL
AND hardware_os_id IS NOT NULL
) Hardware_Id is a FK to Hardware_Assets
Backup_dev_id is a FK to Backup_Devices
Hardware_os_id is a FK to Hardware_op_systems
The Tabular Form Element based on item_type column of SQL query is Displayed As Select List (based on LOV) referencing a named list of values which have the following properties
Display Value Return Value
Hardware Asset HA
Backup Device BD
Computer System HSThe Tabular Form Elements for the report attributes for hardware_id, backup_dev_id and hardware_os_id are all Displayed As Select List (Based on LOV).
What I want to do is only display the Select List for the FK depending on the value of the Select List on Item Type, e.g.
Item_Type is 'HA' then display Select List for hardware_id, do not display and set to NULL the Select Lists for backup_dev_id and hardware_os_id.
Item_Type is 'BB' then display Select List for backup_dev_id, do not display and set to NULL the Select Lists for hardware_id and hardware_os_id.
Item_Type is 'HS' then display Select List for hardware_os_id, do not display and set to NULL the Select Lists backup_dev_id and hardware_id.
There are properties on elements to conditionally display it but how do we reference the values of the SQL query Updateable region? they are not given a page item name?
Also on the Tabular For Elements there is an Edit tick against a report item - however when you go to the Column Attributes there is not a property with which you can control the Edit setting.
What's the best way of implementing this requirement in APEX 3.1?
Thanks.>
Welcome to the forum: please read the FAQ and forum sticky threads (if you haven't done so already), and update your profile with a real handle instead of "user13515136".
When you have a problem you'll get a faster, more effective response by including as much relevant information as possible upfront. This should include:
<li>Full APEX version
<li>Full DB/version/edition/host OS
<li>Web server architecture (EPG, OHS or APEX listener/host OS)
<li>Browser(s) and version(s) used
<li>Theme
<li>Template(s)
<li>Region/item type(s) (making particular distinction as to whether a "report" is a standard report, an interactive report, or in fact an "updateable report" (i.e. a tabular form)
With APEX we're also fortunate to have a great resource in apex.oracle.com where we can reproduce and share problems. Reproducing things there is the best way to troubleshoot most issues, especially those relating to layout and visual formatting. If you expect a detailed answer then it's appropriate for you to take on a significant part of the effort by getting as far as possible with an example of the problem on apex.oracle.com before asking for assistance with specific issues, which we can then see at first hand.
I have a multi-row region that displays values and allows entries in a number of fields.Provide exact details of how this has been implemented. (An example on apex.oracle.com is always a good way to do this.)
I should like the fields to be conditional in that they do not permit entry, but still display, if certain conditions apply (e.g. older rows greyed out). Can this be done? Almost anything can be done, often in multiple ways. Which are appropriate may be dependent on a particular implementation, the skills available to implement it, and the effort you're willing to expend on it. Hence it's necessary to provide full details of what you've done so far... -
2 same surrogate keys with different filter conditions in one report
how do we put 2 same sr keys with different filter conditions in one single report??
for example, we have to get the 'count' for tm_sr_key:
1. count(tm_sr_key) where past_due_flag = Y
2. count(tm_sr_key) where past_due_flag = Y and N
to be displayed in one single report.
it happens that both sr_keys will display the same measure (which is the 1st filter conditions)
and the filter under criteria tab in anwer will show as :
tm_sr_key where {filter condition 1}
AND
tm_sr_key where {filter condition 2}
instead of :
tm_sr_key where {filter condition 1} for 1st measure
tm_sr_key where {filter condition 2} for 2nd measure
d only option i could think right now is to duplicate the tm_sr_key data in the same table but with different name say, tm_sr_key_2..
kindly pls help.
thanxi'm sorry, not really understand.
could you pls explain a bit more about the filter column? how do we do it? coz i'm really new in this tool.
r u talking about editing the filter located under the column on the right side of the OBIEE answers?
or is it by editing the 'edit column formula' for required column; that is by replacing the 'column formula' expression with this:
FILTER(EXPS_FACT.FAC_SR_KEY USING EXPS_FACT.PAST_DUE_FLAG = 'Y') <----if it is like this, i tried it already & its giving me an error message..
thanx.

Extract Sql Query with Actual Parameters from Report
Hi
I am able to extract query from Crystal Report using the following code :
ReportDocument.ReportClientDocument.RowSetController.GetSqlStatement(new GroupPath, out tmp);
But the sql query retrieve comes in the following format :
select name , trans_code, account_code from command_query.accounts
where account_code = {?Command_query_Prompt0} and effective_date < '{?Command_query_prompt1 }'
The parameters which I m using in the reports are :
Account_Code and Effective_Date .
Why does my extracted sql translates it into {?Command_query_Prompt0} and '{?Command_query_prompt1 }' .
Is there any way to map this to the actual parameter values ?
OR
Can we extract the query after assigning the values ?
Any help is appreciated ...
Thanks
Sanchethi,
You can create nested sql query with conditional parameters,
For example
Select Code From OITT Where Code IN (Select ItemCode From OITM
Where ItemName LIKE '[%0]' + '%%')

SQL query with Bind variable with slower execution plan
I have a 'normal' sql select-insert statement (not using bind variable) and it yields the following execution plan:-
Execution Plan
0 INSERT STATEMENT Optimizer=CHOOSE (Cost=7 Card=1 Bytes=148)
1 0 HASH JOIN (Cost=7 Card=1 Bytes=148)
2 1 TABLE ACCESS (BY INDEX ROWID) OF 'TABLEA' (Cost=4 Card=1 Bytes=100)
3 2 INDEX (RANGE SCAN) OF 'TABLEA_IDX_2' (NON-UNIQUE) (Cost=3 Card=1)
4 1 INDEX (FAST FULL SCAN) OF 'TABLEB_IDX_003' (NON-UNIQUE)
(Cost=2 Card=135 Bytes=6480)
Statistics
0 recursive calls
18 db block gets
15558 consistent gets

423 bytes sent via SQL*Net to client
1095 bytes received via SQL*Net from client
3 SQL*Net roundtrips to/from client
1 sorts (memory)
0 sorts (disk)
55 rows processed
I have the same query but instead running using bind variable (I test it with both oracle form and SQL*plus), it takes considerably longer with a different execution plan:-
Execution Plan
0 INSERT STATEMENT Optimizer=CHOOSE (Cost=407 Card=1 Bytes=148)
1 0 TABLE ACCESS (BY INDEX ROWID) OF 'TABLEA' (Cost=3 Card=1 Bytes=100)
2 1 NESTED LOOPS (Cost=407 Card=1 Bytes=148)
3 2 INDEX (FAST FULL SCAN) OF TABLEB_IDX_003' (NON-UNIQUE) (Cost=2 Card=135 Bytes=6480)
4 2 INDEX (RANGE SCAN) OF 'TABLEA_IDX_2' (NON-UNIQUE) (Cost=2 Card=1)
Statistics

423 bytes sent via SQL*Net to client
1258 bytes received via SQL*Net from client
3 SQL*Net roundtrips to/from client
1 sorts (memory)
0 sorts (disk)

TABLEA has around 3million record while TABLEB has 300 records. Is there anyway I can improve the speed of the sql query with bind variable? I have DBA Access to the database
Regards
IvanMany thanks for your reply.
I have run the statistic already for the both tableA and tableB as well all the indexes associated with both table (using dbms_stats, I am on 9i db ) but not the indexed columns.
for table I use:-
begin
dbms_stats.gather_table_stats(ownname=> 'IVAN', tabname=> 'TABLEA', partname=> NULL);
end;
for index I use:-
begin
dbms_stats.gather_index_stats(ownname=> 'IVAN', indname=> 'TABLEB_IDX_003', partname=> NULL);
end;
Is it possible to show me a sample of how to collect statisc for INDEX columns stats?

SQL query with JSP and WML-parameters
Hey,
Could you help me?
I'm trying to do the following. WML deck card 1 send parameter to same WML deck's card help. I try to read the parameter with JSP in card help by putting the parameter to SQL query, but it doesn't work. I can read the parameter with WML in card help. I can also print the value of the parameter with JSP if I generate WML with JSP.
/*parameter sending from card 1 to card help*/
out.println("<go href='#helpcard'>");
out.println("<setvar name='valittukurssi' value='$(valittukurssi)'/>");
/*parameter read with WML in card help */
<p>Valitse kurssi.
$valittukurssi</p>
/'parameter read with JSP by generating WML with JSP*/
out.println("<p>$valittukurssi</p>");
/* SQL query with JSP */
ResultSet uudettulokset = uusilause.executeQuery("select * from kurssi where lyhenne='$valittukurssi'");
Thanks,
RampeYou're problem is easy to fix. You're confusing WML variables with JSP variables. See below:
>
/*parameter sending from card 1 to card help*/
out.println("<go href='#helpcard'>");
out.println("<setvar name='valittukurssi'
value='$(valittukurssi)'/>");
Above you set a var that will work on the phone, not in JSP.
/*parameter read with WML in card help */
<p>Valitse kurssi.
$valittukurssi</p>
Yes the above does display the parameter, because it is a client side WML var, but you cannot use this variable in the JSP code (that's why your SWL fails).
/'parameter read with JSP by generating WML with
JSP*/
out.println("<p>$valittukurssi</p>");Here's you're problem, the above line is EXACTLY the same as the one before it. When the container parses through this JSP code it translates the above line to:
<p>$valittukurssi</p> on the WML page and the CLIENT uses it's local variable to display it.
What you need and want is to have a variable that can be used in JSP code and output to your WML page. Here's how it's done:
out.println("<go href='#helpcard'>");
String some_name = "valittukurssi";
out.println("<setvar name='"+some_name+"'
value='$("+some_name+")'/>");
//note that you may have to escape the ( and ) with a \

How could I replace hard coded value in my sql query with constant value?
Hi all,
Could anyone help me how to replace hardcoded value in my sql query with constant value that might be pre defined .

AND bin_data.bin_type = 2
AND bin_data.period_length = bin_period_length;
END class_by_day_get_bin_data;In the above code I'm using the hard coded value 2 for bin type
bin_data.bin_type = 2But I dont want any hard coded number or string in the query.
How could I replace it?
I defined conatant value like below inside my package body where the actual procedure comes.But I'm not sure whether I have to declare it inside package body or inside the procedure.
bin_type CONSTANT NUMBER := 2;But it does't look for this value. So I'm not able to get desired value for the report .
Thanks.
