Site with tables layout problem

Hello,
I am hoping someone could help me with likely a stupid error
on my part. It is with a site I just started to rework;
www.starprecision.com. I am hoping you may think it is obvious as
to why:
1. There is a shift to the left for pages "home",
"company>employment opportunities" and "company>contact us"
with respect to the other pages. This, for instance, occurs in
Opera and FireFox. However not in IE7.
2. The dotted rectangular outline of the graphi appears
around the "prev" and "next" buttons when they are pressed in IE7
and FireFox but not in Opera.
3. The darned site won't even come up in Safari.
4. I want to redo the site based on a css template. Might one
suggest a starting template for this site?

First, fix these -

Most of those 40 errors will be fixed by aligning your page's
doctype with
the HTML tag syntax you are using. In DW CS3 or CS4, you
could do this
easily by opening the page and then using FILE | Convert >
HTML 4.01
Transitional.
Also, you need this line - why is it commented out?

Add this to your CSS -
html, body { min-height:100%;margin-bottom:1px; }
It will force every page to have a vertical scrollbar, not
just those with
long content. It's the appearance of this scrollbar that is
causing the
left/right shift.

I tried tableColumn1.setSort(null); in the public void prerender() and public void init() calls. The result is the same each time, tableColumn1 is sortable.
I've looked into the jsp code and manually cleared the sort value as bellow:

Need help with a Layout problem

I'm writing a game japplet, and I'd like to have the following layout:
1 JPanel that takes up the whole screen
1 JPanel on top of the first panel in the lower left corner
1 JPanel on top of the first panel in the lower right corner
What layout manager would be best for this system, or can I get away with just using setLocation()'s

For a game, using a layout manager could not be the good solution... for example, if you have to draw a game area of fixed size, it's incompatible with a layout management which could reduce or grow the area's size.
Personnally I would use the null layout solution... harder to code but much more reliable in this case!

Help needed with a layout problem

I'm trying to build a JTabbedPane where each tab has a grid of buttons. The number of buttons is variable, and I'd like the buttons to flow sort of like with FlowLayout, with four columns. I need all the buttons to be the same size, even across tabs. I tried GridLayout, which doesn't work when I have too few buttons to fill a row. It fails in different ways, depending on how I set things up. If I try to set the layout to GridLayout(0, 4) (four columns), then if one tab has one row and another has two, the buttons on the one-row tab expand vertically to the height of the two-row tab. If I try GridLayout(2,4), then if a tab has only one button, it expands horizontally to the maximum width of any of the tabs. (It also has the further problem that if the maximum number of buttons on any tab is 6, they are placed in a 2x3 array; I'm trying to get them to be 4 buttons on the first row and 2 on the second.)
I'm hoping there's a standard layout manager that can do the job, but I'm not too familiar with the Swing manager classes. Can I get what I want without writing my own layout manager?

I didn't think it was specifically a Swing question.Well, its either Swing or AWT, people who develop GUIs are the ones who are going to have experience using layout managers.
but if someone can point the way to how to do this with GridBagLayout, nested containersSince you finished reading the tutorial, what have you tried? You've explained your problems using a single layout manager, so what problems are you having using nested layout managers?

Website with table layout

Hello Dreamweavers.
Im seeing a website design, and trying to understand its structure, so I right clicked: view source ( trying to understand how its structured cos Im new....) but I spoted if im correct
that the whole website is within a table. Ive followed some tutorials with good instructors which say It not the best way to go on about. So Here is the code, So is it really within a table?

You are correct in noting the layout structure is indeed the now very dated table method.
More important is the use of Flash which cannot be viewed on an important number of portable devices.

JPanel Positiong with Gridbag Layout Problem

Hi,
I'm desingning an UI in which I made a JFrame and set it Layout as gridBag layout. Now I have added Three JPanel in this JFrame.
The problem is that All the three JPanels are shown in center While I want to palce them in top left corner.
I have done this through NetBeans 4.0 in the layout coustomize option I've set them in first in the left top most, second in below of the first and so on but when I run the application The JPanel are shown in the center in this Particular position i.e first at the top in center second below to the fist and so on.
Kindly solve my this problem.

CSS Layout Problem?

Can someone please help me with a layout problem.
As far as I can tell the page looks as it should in Netscape,
Firefox, etc., but IE6 and 7 refuse to work correctly.
The page I am working on is:

Most of the picture caption and headline of the middle column
is behind the picture. I attempted to force the info with a
seperating div which seems to work sometimes. I doubt that this is
the correct solution. What am I doing wrong?

Problem with "Row-specific or Cascading Lists in Table Layout"

Hello, friends!
I have read article "Row-specific or Cascading Lists in Table Layout" written by Steven Davelaar. I have maked several table layouts with this technique and it worked fine.
But now I have one problem, and this problem is very strange. One of VOs for which I use this table layouts throw exception after commit changes on first LOV attribute (Deptno). First time it was error
(oracle.jbo.ReadOnlyAttrException) JBO-27008: for atribute mgrList
at oracle.jbo.AttrValException.<init>(AttrValException.java:112)
     at oracle.jbo.ReadOnlyAttrException.<init>(ReadOnlyAttrException.java:40)
     at oracle.jbo.server.ViewRowImpl.setAttribute(ViewRowImpl.java:815)
     at oracle.jbo.jbotester.JboTesterUtil.setData(JboTesterUtil.java:173)
Then I setted updateable property of MgrList attribute to always and now i have this error:
oracle.jbo.domain.DataCreationException: JBO-25009: Cannot create an object of type:java.util.List with value:[{}]
     at oracle.jbo.domain.TypeFactory.get(TypeFactory.java:721)
     at oracle.jbo.domain.TypeFactory.getInstance(TypeFactory.java:85)
I don't know why, but all worked fine yestarday. And same code works fine for another VOs. And article Test application works fine too.

Hi,
Usually I separate page layout and publishing page into two different modules. Then you deploy first the page layout module to ensure that SP will create the aspx file. After that the second module lets SP to apply the existing page layout to your publishing
page.
It's just an idea. I am not 100% sure. Let me know.

You should be able to use the battery if you get a car type charger which recharges mobile devices.
The full size iPads use a 10-12W charger, whereas the mini uses a 5W charger. Many car chargers only supply 5W. But at 5W, the car charger should give you some extra time on your iPad. It would be best to use a 10-12W car charger.

Problem with table formatting

I'm having a lot of problems with tables not reflecting their formatting when I open them in a browser. I've tried opening in Safari, Firefox & Camino with the same results. For example, a row with the following html content has a much larger height & aligns the text to the top when opened in a browser:

Any ideas is appreciated. This is driving me nuts. Spacing and alignment sometimes work and sometimes don't work. Dreamweaver is supposed to make such things easier!

Header tags are usually used round a bit of text, not parts of a table, and if you don't specify the margins on them, can force different amounts of space below in different browsers. Try making the bottom margin on h6 zero, and confine it to text within a cell.
Also, if you can upload your page somewhere and let us have the url it will be easier to troubleshoot.

Layout adjustment not working with tables

Hi all
Why will layout adjustment not work with tables?
I am trying to re-format from A4 landscape to A4 portrait.
The text box containing the table will resize but not the table.
Any clues why this might be, I don't want to manually resize every table in the document.

Having resized the table and got the little red ovals, I tried various things like changing the font size etc but the best workaround I found was to select the table and change the cell inset value to 0, this got rid of all red ovals and I didn't need to change the font size.

After spending several hours sorting out Canon Pixma OSX problems here are my thoughts:

Problem:
- New imac and MacBook Pro 2012 (OSX 10.8.2) had a problem using Canon Pixma 868 printer on network and would not scan or print using Canon Pixma software (Pixma MP Navigator 2.1 & Photo Print), which has advanced scanning and photo printing functions.
- When I connected the canon printer to my imac, OSX 10.8.2 automatically downloaded and installed drivers for Canon 860 series printer. I could then add the new printer (select ‘apple menu’ / ‘system preferences’ / ‘print and scan’ / “+”) and printer would work while connected via USB but could not get to print or scan over network wifi.
- The original Canon 860 Series CD does not work with 10.8 and the manual / online instructions did not make sense (as based on CD install).
Solution:
1) Install Canon Printer Drivers and Software (from official Canon site)
Go to canon support site, review FAQ, then download and install following Pixma 860 Series software & drivers for OSX 10.8 (links see below). The version I downloaded is in brackets but check for updated version. Full instructions are below.

2) Check Canon Printer and Software Working while connected via USB
Once you have downloaded and installed drivers and software and restarted computer, check that the printer and Canon Pixma software (Pixma MP Navigator 2.1 & Photo Print) are working via USB. Open the Canon IJ Network Tool App (Applications / Canon Utilities /IJ Network Tool / Canon IJ Network Tool App) and make sure you can see the Canon MX 860 series (xx.xx.xx.xx.xx.xx) and that it shows the correct SSID Wifi settings (under the Canon IJ Network Tool App ‘Setup menu’). This is normally done as part of the automatic install but worth double checking
3) Add new network printer using ‘apple menu’ / ‘system preferences’ / ‘print and scan’ / “+”).
After you have checked USB printing turn off printer, unplug the USB cable and shutdown the Canon IJ Network Tool App.
Then turn the printer back on and wait 30s. Then add a new printer using ‘apple menu’ / ‘system preferences’ / ‘print and scan’ / “+”). Once you select “+” (add new printer), wait 10-30s for the Wifi Networked Canon MX 860 Series printer to appear in the new window eg Canon MX 860 series (xx.xx.xx.xx.xx.xx) (Kind: “Canon IJ Network”)
DO NOT ADD THE MX 860 SERIES BONJOUR SCANNER (the Bonjour Scanner is the built-in software, is not needed and often appears first on the add printer list). The Canon scanner can be accessed used through the MP Nav EX Ver. 2.1.3 software (which has much better functions)
You will now have two Printer Canon MX860 (USB) and Canon MX860 (Wifi / Network). Set the Canon MX860 (Wifi / Network) as default and test print and scan
If the Wifi Networked Canon MX 860 Series printer does not appear, check the printer and make sure that the printer can see the wifi network. On the printer select Menu / Settings / Device Settings / Lan Settings / WLAN Setting List. It should say WLAN Active, identify the SSID and have an IP address
If the printer can not see the Wifi Network, plug the USB cable back in, then open the Canon IJ Network Tool App (Applications / Canon Utilities /IJ Network Tool / Canon IJ Network Tool App). Make sure you can see the Canon MX 860 series (xx.xx.xx.xx.xx.xx) and that it has your SSID settings (under setup), if it has this info, restart the computer and the printer and try again

Problem with tables -- need help!

I am having problems with table formatting, when using
Preformatted text. The tables look fine in the WYSIWYG editor, but
have lots of extra space above and below the text when looking at
the output files.
I will attach the code from one of the HTML files from my
project, so you can see what I'm talking about.

Well, if you're talking about the single-celled table with
the line:
<p class=Preformatted>[assembly:
Ace.AceAssembly]</p>
</pre>
... you can eliminate the <P> tags. that will give you
one line less. Otherwise, your remaining space is the result of the
<PRE> tag. It, like the <XMP> tag, gives it one line of
space beneath as well.
Your alternative beyond that would be to, when needed, wrap
up the script in Javascript. That line, for instance, wouldn't need
it.
