Size of Launch images for ipad

Hi All,
I'm developing an iPad app that run in all device orientation and that don't display the status bar (fullscreen).
I read that the launch screen images should be landscape: 1024x748 and Portrait: 768x1004. Which let the place for the status Bar.
But as i hide the statusbar (in my plist), the app start in fuulscreen (including the launch image, which get stretched. it's a pretty ugly solution, so my question is, is it still possible to provide 1024x768 images? I know it work, but as xcode 4 give warning, i don't want to see my app rejected because of that..
Any experience?
Tanks for your comments,
Alain

While no one here can promise what will/won't be accepted/rejected, I've been submitting apps using 768 × 1024 ~ 1024 × 768 up until recently with no issues.

  • Launch image for iPhone 5 with Flash CS6

How do I add the required iPhone 5, 4 inch screen launch images to my build using Flash CS6. I have targeted Air 3.8 beta and there is no support for bundling the necessary images. Do I need to edit the plist or app descriptor xml file or something? Do Adobe plan to accommodate these new Apple requirments in a future version of CS6 or AIR SDK?
Up until now I have had no problems submitting binaries to the Appstore, but as of May 1st Apple reject any binaries that are not optimized for the 4 inch screen of the iPhone 5.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Thanks for your effort!!!Did exactly the same, but no result.I changed the version number in Flash in the airsettings to 2.1, and also tried (1.1, 2.1. 1.0.1)After that, put another version ready to upload. Select this version in the apploader. And than it tells me: This bundle is invalid. The value for key cfkbunleversion in the info.plist file must contain a higher version than that of the previously uploaded version.
I do not want to update my app, but only the screens you see when buying the app in de store. And also the name of the developer. I changed my apple id from [email protected] into [email protected] thought if I run an update, the apple-id of the app will change.
    (I am not sure).
    Hope to hear from you.
Newspaper want a interview because it's a creative app from the city, now I hope it will work in time...App name is: jabenjibbe

    Hey Christa,
I'm not entirely sure what process you've gone through, but as far as uploading an update goes, it's much like uploading your original app.  You need to go to iTunes Connect first and log in, go to "Manage Your Apps" and then click on the app you want to upload an update for.  There'll be an option on the next page that says "Add a version".  You then enter the information that you need to for the updated app and click on "Save".  You'll then have the button you need to click on that says something like "Ready to Upload Binary" or something similar.
Once you click on that, you need to open up Application Loader and then upload your updated app through that.  If you've entered the correct information in the steps above, you should be able to choose the new version number for your app from a list.  You then just submit it like you did originally.
After that, you simply have to wait.  It's not instantaneous.  Submitting an update is much the same as when you submit an app for the first time.  It has to go through the whole review and approval process all over again.  So when you go back to iTunes Connect, you'll see for the app you've updated, there'll be a green light for the older version that's approved and currently on the App Store and an orange light for the update that's waiting approval.  Once the update has been successful, it will automatically replace the older version (if you chose that option earlier) and then you will only have the one green light, for the most recent version, on iTunes Connect and then people who have downloaded the app previously will get the Update alert in the App Store on their phone/device letting them know that there are updates available.
For me, the update process was reasonably quick.  It took anywhere between 3 and 5 days before the update became active on the App Store.  Hope this helps.
    Cheers,
    Hally

  • Maximum  size of the image for uploading.

    Dear All,
I wrote an image upload program for uploading Color images. I need to know the maximum size of the image to be uploaded.
I am using the class cl_gui_frontend_services=>gui_upload for uploading the image.
    Regards,
    Rahul R

you will be converting the image into 'TIFF' or 'BMP' to be uploaded through GUI_UPLOAD.
i think you can do it for large size also, and for any problem you will get the exceptions :
DP_OUT_OF_MEMORY     : Not Enough Memory in Data Provider
    DISK_FULL                        : Storage Medium full.
    so try and see.

  • Images for iPad - best practices?

I'm having a heck of a time with figuring out the proper image format/res/etc when creating for the iPad.
For instance, I've got an original jpg image at 1536x1024.  My comp is of course at 1024x768.
If I scale down that image and resize to fill the screen, I get some nasty aliasing happening in the shot.
If I leave it at original scale, it ends up perfect.  What I don't get is that when I use that same image size and format for printed material, and scale down, I get excellent quality.  Buy on the iPad and screen?  It's pretty jagged.
    Any suggestions?

That's indeed horrible ! And should not happen.
It's not just that the JPEG quality seems terribly poor, those horizontal lines even seem to be more mysterious.
Because this is definitely not something "standard", there must be something happening or going wrong in the process. And the only way to find out what it is, is to "isolate" and "differntiate", like Dr. House always says in the tv series. By subsequentually minimizing the problem's environment, changing different factors and probing the results, you must eventually discover an improvement. And then you quickly have a diagnose, and most probably also a solution. But it involves changes.
So try bringing the problem down to lets say one page with some (these) pictues from which you know they'll go wrong. Verify that the file still goes wrong - you couldn't be happier, and it makes following tests easier to go through. Next, try the folio on different tablets, try building it with a test user account, with a different InDesign, on a different Mac, whatever ! Until you deduced the culprit that causes the problem.
It can be a lengthy process, but it's the only way to find out what is going wrong here...
If you want to, you can send the (minimized and zipped) InDesign package to me, if you don't have any other configurations to try it on.

  • Size of digital images for reproduction in iPhoto Books

I have been reading comments in this forum and have become confused reading about image size in iphoto books. I have some very old scanned photos saved in tiff format files on an external hard-drive and want to make a book using them. I don't want to compromise the altered quality of these old photos since so many are over 100 years old and were in poor condition when scanned. I corrected them as best I could using Photoshop and saved them them in tiff form in storage. Can I leave them as a tiff (cropped to 4:3ratio) when I import them to iPhoto or do I have to convert them to j-pegs BEFORE importing? I realize that these files are larger than a j-peg of the same photo so the entire 100 page book is quite large. If so will j-peg format make these look worse in the printing? iphoto's instructions skip over this detail. Could some please help me with an answer to this?

    Dognut:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You can use the tiffs. There won't be a problem. The only restriction is Apple can't use CMYK color. I've always used jpgs without a problem. As long as the number of pixels are high you should get good results. The downside to using tiffs is that iPhoto will copy them into the library and will take up a lot of disk space. But you can always delete them from iPhoto when you've ordered and received your book to free up disk space.

  • Size of Indesign Document for iPad resolution

When creating a 1024x768 document the actual size in inches is larger than the iPad itself and larger than the print version of the magazine:
    10.6667 in WIDTH (768 pixels)
    14.2222 in HEIGHT (1024 pixels)
    Why is this?

iPad screen density is 132 pixels per inch, InDesign uses 72 pixels per inch. Therefore, the size in inches differs, although the pixel dimensions (768x1024) are the same in both cases.

  • How do I set text size in photoshop touch for ipad?

I Am new to photoshop and on a work deadline. Can someone explain how to set the text size?

  • Is there any options/addons for selecting/changing image size when viewing images?

When clicking to open images when on web pages there is no option to select size.
I'm looking at some pages that have images (mostly jpg) I like to compare and that is very hard when all images open in a size that normally fill most of the browser window.
So I wonder if there is some hidden options or addons for selecting image size when opening images for viewing?
I have tried Image resizer/scaler, image zoom and show picture with mix results. Image resizer/scaler and image zoom allow resizing of images, but when opening images on same tab as web page the white image "frame" that is visible when reducing image size is left in original size. This make viewing and opening other pages a hazard.
    I'm grateful for any help...cheers :-)

hehe no offense, but I'm not following the version rushing from Mozilla. I'm using many customizations and addons and it is a nightmare to change to a new version and practically impossible to use last version. Also the FIrefox history have shown that earlier versions have both been more stable and had better implementation of features.
Spending hours customizing and finding out that addons dont work with new version every time Firefox come with a new version , no thanks. For that to happen Firefox have to be more compatible across versions and more friendly toward customization in updates and new versions. I have used Firefox for at least 8-9 years with practically no security problems and one thing I have learned is: dont update or install next version if the version I have is working well.
Maybe I should have mentioned this in this question, that Im using v26 and that my FIrefox is heavily modified with addons and customizations.
    '''Back to the subject'''
Anyway I dont think any of my customizations or addons should create a white frame behind images, but I'm asking to find out if you guys also get this white frame when resizing pictures to a smaller size after clicking images for viewing.

  • "Adobe AIR 15 Beta Sept 18, 2014" doesn't support iphone6 launch images

I entered [email protected] for iphone 6 , [email protected] for iphone 6+
I see firstly launch time and immediately thereafter (mean AIR load time)  launch image is disappear (black screen, mean AIR doesn't see).
Secondly, Air is working only "ios 7.1, iphone 5" simulator. (Although I choose IOS8 sdk)

Hi Colin, according to documentation here Providing launch images for AIR applications on iOS | Adobe Developer Connection and here http://help.adobe.com/en_US/air/build/WS901d38e593cd1bac1e63e3d129907d2886-8000.html#WS901 d38e593cd1bac58d08f9112e26606ea8-8000
Please take a look at the below explanation
"For AIR applications, this means the launch image must remain visible until the AIR runtime is completed initialized. To achieve this, the AIR runtime displays the same launch image as shown by iOS until the app is completely ready to use"
For the new devices, as sharkhack mentioned, you can trigger the new native high resolutions with the below launch images. As mentioned here: Iphone 6 Question « Starling Forum
    1- [email protected]  -> 750 x 1334 for iphone 6
    2- [email protected] - >1242 × 2208 for iphone6 plus
However Air does not recognize these naming conventions and tries to display the [email protected] image all the time, creating inconsistencies during the switch from iOS launch to Air Launch.

  • Basic launch image problem iPhone 6+

    I can’t get good launch-image performance on iPhone 6 + , iOS 8.3,  using AIR v 17 and publishing with Flash Pro CS5.5
I’ve tested what I understand to be correct launch-image dimensions and names: 1242 x 2208 and  ‘[email protected]
    I’ve also tested:
    ‘Default-414w-736h@3x~iphone.png’
    ‘[email protected]
I create a 1080 x 1920 stage, add the launch image and get:
Letter-boxing is supplied by iPhone! I've drawn test lines on my stage, which has been shortened lengthwise courtesy of iOS 8.3
I've read that people were having problems like this many months ago, but that they've been resolved in the lastest AIR releases. So it must be me. What am I doing wrong?
And, as a follow up question, is it possible to add launch-image info to the application descriptor .xml that will be picked up in the app's info.plist?

Ok, answering my own question (sometimes you just have to ask in order to find the answer!):
Contrary to Adobe's instructions in Guide for Apple App Store submissions | Adobe Developer Connection ("Launch images are included in the root directory of the application package but are not referenced in the publish settings or application descriptor"), the launch image for, at least iOS 8, MUST BE referenced in the application descriptor in order to get into the app bundle's info.plist.
Unlike earlier iOS versions the launch image seems to have to be referenced in that info.plist.
If I'm missing anything here please supply info, corrections.
    Thanks, c.u.

  • IPhone Application Launch Image

OK, either no one has noticed this, or I'm a complete idiot for seeing how to do this... but how do I set an image to be the launch image for my iPhone application. Apple has a whole page in their "iPhone Human Interface Guidelines" document about the launch image, but it fails to say how to actually use one.
I'm assuming something has to be done in the Info.plist, but I'm not sure what the key name would be.
Message was edited by: Neil D

the word i got back is that they are looking into making the feature available for the SDK, but probably will not be there for the 2.0 release.
i wouldn't be surprised that those apps can do stuff that ours can't. for instance, mail supports push, but we don't have that available for the sdk yet. so, yes, there must be some way to do it, but no, i don't think we can get to it yet.
my suggestion was to first look for the Default.png in the application's documents dir, then look in the bundle. this would mean that i could keep a screen shot saved in there as the user did things, then it would be available upon the next startup without my app doing anything. as it is, since my starting screen changes all the time based on what the user was last doing, i had to come up with a "splash" screen to keep it from being black. i think "peel" away that splash screen with a curl animation to reveal the real screen behind.

  • Image quality in Pages for iPad

    Hello!
I'm editing a new book in Pages (OS X). It has several high quality images.
I need to edit the same file in Pages for iPad. I use iCloud, so the file will be synced.
I'm worried about the QUALITY of all my images. I'm affraid Pages for iPad will DECREASE the quality of my images; then, when re-opening the file in my iMac, I could have images with less resolution. Is this true? Could it happen or the quality will be PRESERVED?
    Thank you!

    Good question!
From my rough testing of round tripping a Document and checking the size in the Share Export Page option it looks as if it maintains the Origanal Document size. Even after it has been Editted on both an iPad and Desktop. Hope this helped
There is also the option to check the Document size under the Inspector, first Tab then the last Button (Info) I think you have to Save the Document first before "Show File Info" becomes active

  • In Pages for iPad, I couldn't wrap text(Chinese characters) around the image

Hi, a question about Pages for iPad. I wrote some words with Chinese characters and then inserted a image from the Camera Roll. The problem is that I couldn't wrap words around the photo. I tried again wrote some words in English and it's ok for wrapping. Why did this happen?

From the help section in the Pages app ....
Anchor or free an object to or from its surrounding text:
Select the object, tap in the toolbar, and then tap Arrange.
In the Arrange window, tap Wrap.
To make an object move with the flow of text, slide “Move with Text” to ON.To make an object remain stationary, unaffected by changes in the surrounding text flow, slide “Move with Text” to OFF.
Drag the Extra Space slider to indicate how much space you want to leave between the object and the surrounding text.
    Wrap text around an object:
Select the object and tap in the toolbar, and then tap Arrange.
In the Arrange window, tap Wrap.
Tap a wrap option to select it.Automatic optimizes text wrap for you, depending on the size and position of the object, and the width of the text column. Text wraps around an object, unless there’s very little space around the sides, in which case the text flows only above and below the object. Around lets you customize the text wrap around the sides, without automatic optimization. Above and Below allows text lines only above and below the object.
Drag the Extra Space slider to indicate how much space you want to leave between the object and the surrounding text.
This works for me. Restart your iPad if this does not work for you.
