Sizing of PI & EP Systems

Hi,
Planning to implement PI 7.3 & EP 7.3 in our landscape..we need to size these products & give it to our Implemenattion partner.
When I am going through SAP Quicksizer for PI 7.3 I have been asked to fill :
1. XMLSize(KB)
2. Messages(KB)
But not getting exactly how to know thsee input? Secondly how to size EP 7.3 with a total of 33000 users with 500 being concurrent?
Note : SAP PI integration will provide the ability to link business processes & data between HR ECC6 & Finance/Retail 4.7 systems.

HI,
What is your OS and DB ?
Sizing of PI
1. XMLSize(KB)
2. Messages(KB)
Basis cannot assume the size of above files and Integration team has to provide necessary details. Check with your Legacy and Integration team.
Sizing of EP :-
Sizing tool is the best to provide sizing, if you have enough information. Provide number of Concurrent Users, Average think time in seconds,  Number of JAVA Iviews,  number od URL IViews. Provide information on necessary Elements (like NW-EP-URL, NW-EP-INT) etc..
Table 2 :-
Active Users A/P - Average or Peak time users
Time Interval - H
Max No. of logins - Your user's count

  • HANA Sizing for Business Suite Systems (Compression)

    Hi Experts-
We ran the HANA memory sizing for our ERP and SRM systems (both are on
NW 7.4, ECC is on EHP7 and SRM is on EHP3). We followed SAP Note "1872170 -
Suite on HANA memory sizing report" to complete this task.
We are little surprised by the results as we don't see much compression in the target data in HANA DB. I have attached the screen shot of a ECC system with the message which has the spool results. We are getting a difference of only about 100 GB from before in terms of size and compression. The original size of ECC system is 1.1 TB.
What is general compression achieved in Business Suite migration to HANA DB? (if anyone has done that so far).
    -Amit

    Amit,
in this FAQ  Sizing for SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA you can research more information about sizing.
In this FAQ is also a link to a HANA sizing white paper, which explains the results of the sizing reports.

  • Quick sizing for Demand Planning system

    Hi All
Our team is required to do quick sizing for a SCM 5.0 Demand Planning system with Livecache. The DEV and QAS is already available but not being used at all but now we need the quick sizing for the production box. I have never done any quick sizing, detailed help is appreciated. I have gone through the service.sap.com/quicksizing for demand planning it shows 3 input tables only for Throughput sizing - Time Series, DP Run, DP Users. The APO functional guys entered some numbers but not sure what to do next as the Calculate Result shows information Iam not able to understand.
What I need from sizing is CPU processor, disk size, memory size, etc in clear detail. Please suggest, Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Ali

    Hello Ali,
First of all I am not a BASIS consultant and hence it would not be prudent for me to comment on hardware configuration reuqired in your case.
Secondly I do not understand what you mean by Quicksizer has been shut down. It is available online at <a href="http://service.sap.com/quicksizer">Quicksizer Tool</a> in Service Marketplace.
There is good amount of documentation available in the website giving details on the basis of computation of different parameters. Again SCM Hardware Configuration is not just dependent on the number of users but the functional requirements as well.
Thirdly - I cannot explain how SAPS concept is related to SCM Quicksizing. Per my understanding the SAPS concept is an hardware-independent benchmark of throughput which is an indicator of the processing capabilities required at peak loads. SAPS will determines the number and processor speed on your Application Server depending on the processor capabilities. Most hardware vendors provide datasheets with SAPS capabilities.
Suggest you go through the document "Background: Sizing mySAP Business Suite" under Sizing Guidelines >> General Sizing Procedures.
    Thanks,
    somnath

  • Sizing of BW System

    Hi BW Experts,
We are facing a lot of problems with less memory in BW System. We are unable to run the jobs daily.
So i have stopped all process chains and other Back ground jobs on 24/09/2007.
I have not yet scheduled the jobs again from 24/09/2007 onwards.
We interacted with Basis people, and they requested us to do Sizing of the BW System.
And we are not aware how to do Sizing.
Now we are unable to load even 30 records also.
Should i delete the Requests from PSA ?
If i delete the PSA Requests, will BW System memory increase more?
How to do the sizing of the BW System?
    Please give me the solution.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Anjali

    Hi,
first call transaction DB02 and check the current sizes.
If your DB is full then try to delete some data, for example test data or PSA data created by datamart scenarios, PSA created when loading master data full, ODS change logs.....
for the siting, goto service.sap.com/bi, media library / performance / hardware sizing.
    hope this helps...
    Olivier.

  • Oracle EBS 12.1.3 and SOA 10g hardware sizing

    Hi All,
To give you the background, we have integration requirements where in one of the interface about 20000 sales orders come in the system everyday and they have about 3-5 lines per sales order. Most of these orders come between 3-6 PM. We have 50 other interfaces along with this but this is a major one. Client is concerned about performance and so we have to give right design and right hardware sizing so that the system is able to handle all the load without causing performance issues. We are planing to use Oracle EBS 12.1.3 and SOA Suite 10.1.3.5 (10g)
Any processes, documentation on how to go about hardware sizing, tools will be helpful
    Thanks,
    Rahul

  • Design Studio and DSL Bridge for BW (Sizing)

    Hi,
I'm doing a sizing exercise on a system where we are only going to use Design Studio, Analysis for Office and their mobile counterpart.
Now, the "Resource Usage Estimator" does not provide options for these two tools, and as far as I can read they don't have that much usage on the server  side.
My question is then - does Design Studio use the DSL bridge to connect to BW? Or is it like Analysis, where it connects directly and only gets the login and partial metadata from the SBOP Platform?
And is there any special elements I need to take into account when sizing this machine other then whats written in the sizing guides?
    Best regards,
    Kris

Thanks Tammy, this solved some of my questions.
I am still uncertain as to how I can estimate the system usage, when the users only use Design Studio and Analysis, which I cannot add into the sizing estimator.
Looking at the sizing guides for DS, Analysis and mobile, I still need to estimate the basic platform.
Do you know where I can find help with that?
    Best regards,
    Kris

  • Sizing the database for Manufacturing

    Hi All:
Does anyone have a spreadsheet that will help me do some sizing for the database that is using Oracle Apps,

The installation instructions for each Oracle application contain sizing guidelines and minimum system requirements. These are accessible through Oracle Metalink or from the Oracle store at WWW.Oracle.com. In addition, your Oracle Sales Rep or Consultant can help you with sizing based on
    hardware vendor recommendations.

  • BI Production System

    Hi,
In our company, we are planning to go live in a couple of weeks and are running tight on schedule. I have been assigned the work of checking the BI production system.
The transportation from Test to Production has not happened so far, but I got to check the system to see if we have everything in place in the BI system.
The landscape has a developement box, a test box and a production box. Enterprise portal will be used and the BI system will be feeding the reports to the EP.
We have a ECC 6.0 system and a BI 7.0 system. The current patch level is 10 on the BI system.
What is it that I should be looking for in the BI system?
Any suggestions and comments are appreciated and will be duely rewarded with points.
    Thank you,
    DV

If the production box is empty now, your focus should be on the test system.
It is a practice is maintain the error logs of various activities that were performed in the test system. Get that log and review to see anything you can do preemtively in prod  box.
Check the capacity, load, sizing of the prod system.
Do the go live check including RSRV checks.

  • Installing BPC NW 7.0 SP01 and hardware sizing

    Hi!
I have a question on the installation part of BPC. I am wondering if all the components can be installed on one single server for development/test systems? With all the components I mean the NW 7.0 ABAP server, the database, the .NET server and all the other components that BPC needs. I suppose for production systems that I should separate the ABAP and the database on one server, and have the .NET components on a second server. Any input on this?
What about sizing recommendations for development systems and production systems?
I noticed in the installation guide SAP_BPC_70_SP01_NW_Install.pdf, that SAP recommends 32-bit OS for the .NET server. Anyone got some experience/known issues running it on 64-bit? I know it is possible, but just wondering.
    Regards,
    Thomas

    Hi.
BPC didn't happend this time around, so this is not relevant anymore.

  • WebSAPconsole - Sizing?

    Hello world,
Has anybody got any pointers with regards to the sizing of a WebSAPConsole system?
I know that nominally it should only have a small footprint in both memory and CPU, and I am aware of the SAP note out re 2003 and performance issues there.
But I do not seem to find any hard data on CPU/memory requirements.
If you have any pointers or any practical experience, I would greatly appreciate a quick reply with configuration and # of users etc.
    Thanks,
    Tom

Well, the answer came through the practical implementation. And after 3 years I might as well close this question

  • Unix Sizing

What are the sizing rules for UNIX systems? The published BO documents only mention CPUs, how do you account for multicore CPUs? Searching through various web forums some people seem to treat a core as a CPU and others use a thread. Which is correct?
Specifically I have inherited a cluster of Sun T5240 servers each with 2 x 8 core x 8 thread CPUs running XIR2 under Solaris 10 and a number of user reported performance issues. Some of these servers are running 20+ services but assuming 1 core equals a CPU then this seems too many given the expected number of concurrent users/requests.

    Ok, thanks.
This is what I found: ftp://public.dhe.ibm.com/common/ssi/ecm/en/spw03012usen/SPW03012USEN.PDF
This shows on Page 14 that for 1000 concurrent users, 4 cores of Power6 processor are appropriate
    Also, http://communities.intel.com/community/openportit/server/blog/tags/power6 has some comparisons.
