  • There is  1 or 2 msg server for ABAP+Java system?

    Hi, all:
I am confused by the number of msg server processes in ABAP+Java system.
We are running on Windows/Oracle platform.
There are 2 msg_server.exe at OS level. So it looks one of them belongs to the central instance and one of them belong to the central service of the Java stack. Am I correct? I've heard that even for an ABAP+java system, there is only one msg server. Which one is correct? Please share your opinion, thanks.

    Hi,
There will be 2 MSG servers running in ABAP + JAVA system..
1 for SCS and other for Central Instance.

  • Server CPU Usages - Critical

We have a BC4J application developed using jdev 3.1/ front end is JSPs.
The application is deployed using Oracle iAS 8i.
The problem is that when in a jsp, a query is executed that has to return a large number of rows, then the cpu utilization of the database(oracle.exe) rises to 100 percent. The same query when run from sql, causes a memory consumption of only 20 percent.
What can be the possible reasons for this huge increase in memory consumption when the query is fired using jdev data web beans from a jsp.

    Howard,
because the CSS has a script language, you can basically do whatever you want.
You could have a script running on the server to get the server cpu and save it into a file.
Via the CSS script language, you could retrieve this value and decided to use or not the server.
There is also something called DFP - dynamic feedback protocol. If your server vendor support this protocol you can use it to report server status to the CSS.
    Regards,
    Gilles.

  • CPU peaks / audio drops (here comes another one)

    Hi all,
I know this problem exists (sudden CPU-peaks and audio-drops as a result), but I wonder if anyone has experience with M-Tron Pro in Mainstage and these audio-drops.
I'm having those problems and they're really a pain in the ***. Can't use it live because of the drops and I really need the M-Tron sounds.
Airport or wireless networks are all turned off, Mainstage (latest version 2.1.2) is the only programming that's running, CPU-meter shows a default usage of about 10% and yet I keep getting regular audio drops/CPU-overloads when I use the M-Tron Pro plugin.
Strange thing is: in Logic I can keep playing the M-Tron for ages without one single audio drop... One wonders why the internal organization or CPU-management of two programs based on the same "logic" (or at least it seems) is so different?
No other solution for me than learn to work with Ableton and run a stable live system then? Or other suggestions here?

I ran into similar problems when using a 2.0G machine, now on a 2.4, and things improved greatly. A couple of things to try:
    1) run your Activity Monitor utility to see if there is anything running in the background you aren't aware of
    2) try downloading and running smcFanControl to run your fan at a higher rpm when using MainStage
Have you definitely isolated the culprit to M-Tron? (after eliminating other suspects, plug-ins, etc). If so, are there any ways to minimize the CPU hit within M-Tron (check manual and forums)? I don't have the software, so can't check. For example, I use Superior Drummer, and found a lot of CPU and memory reducing tips, which helped load greatly.

The 3GS was not sold as an unlocked phone in the US 2 years ago and AT&T did not offer unlocking then.
You bought a hacked phone. The Apple servers can detect the hack and have now disabled activation. Contact AT&T and find out if you qualify to have it unlocked or buy a new legitimately unlocked phone.

    The console webserver is

I can manage the DS through the Console just fine. If I try to access the msg server nothing happens.
I see the following error in the ds admin-serv/logs/error log
[21/Feb/2008:08:41:35] warning (26033): for host ::ffff:134.198.6.4 trying to GET /msg-config/tasks/operation/cgi_root, send-cgi reports: cannot find CGI program /opt/luminis/products/ds/bin/msg/admin/bin/cgi_root (No such file or directory)
This cgi_root file is a pointer to /opt/luminis/products/mail/lib/cgimsg which does not exist
It applied patch 115610-25 which (I'm under the impression) has the Admin console in it. It didn't fix it though
So, does anyone know of a patch that just has the Admin Server / Console or does anyone running 32 bit Sparc Solaris 10 have a cgimsg file they can lend me? (I'll give it right back!)

    chris_krall1 wrote:
I can't argue with that Shane. Well you can argue but there isn't anything I can do about it unfortunately. The decision to stop using the admin console was a 'big-picture' sort of deal.
Well sort of - this didn't work when I first installed msg 6.2-4.04. The core patch 6.3-5.02 (120228-25) was applied through smpatch more or less inadvertently. Anyway I guess I will have to learn the command line interface. I really only wish to apply certs to the various services and turn on ssl
I was able to request and apply the cert through msgcert, so I will try the next steps and see how it goesmsgcert was added to 6.3 for entirely this reason -- a replacement was required for the functionality lost due to the dropping of the admin console.

  • Application Server CPU at 100%

We are running Oracle Forms and Reports 9.0.4 using OC4J on a Solaris 9 server. Environment responds quickly, except when an end user requests the generation of a large PDF report (with several hundred to over a thousand pages). Although query results are returned quickly by the database server, CPU on application server tops out at 100% for an hour or more while these large reports are being generated. During this hour or more, no other reports can be generated by other end users. Can the application server be configured to allow CPU and other resources to be shared during generation of large PDF reports? If so, how?

  • ASA CPU peaks

    Two questions really.
Q1. What is a safe peak for a cluster (Active/Standby) pair of ASA 5520's?
During different times of the day, I can see major peaks that push the ASA cluster into the high 80's and low 90% utilization.
Q2. To combat these peaks, I've tried lowering the logging, turning off Inspections and even clustering rules so the list of ACL's is shorter for the ASA to run through for each lookup. None of these have made a measurable impact to CPU peaks. Any idea's what else I can do to save CPU time?
    Thanks!

Not sure what the official recommendation is from Cisco, but I don't want my ASA CPU to go over 50% in average.
Our ASA5550's average 5% of CPU usage.
It should be ok to go above that from time to time though.
How long did each 80 - 90% peak last?
If it's just a few minutes I think you should be ok.
If it's constant you'll probably need to upgrade to a 5550 or 5580.
If 5580 doesn't even cut it in your evaluation, then you may need to go w/ Juniper or Palo Alto Networks...Cisco's great for their feature sets, but unfortunately you can't push as much traffic through their devices...either firewall or switches.
Anyone from Cisco reading this post...why do you guys under-engineer your products all the time?
This should go to the Security forum and not Application by the way.

  • CPU peaks with LPX & 10.10.1

    Hi All,
I'm having strange CPU peaks since a couple of days. Probably it starts after updating to 10.10.1, but I'm not 100% sure...but this was the only thing I changed lately.
    Problem:
After loading LPX and a song, one (last one) of the CPU threads is going to 1/4 with pulsing to 1/3 every second, while the others ideling on the bottom of the bar. Starting the song, pushes the one thread to 1/2 and occasiionally some peaks goes to 100% which either leads in a crack and a small drop out or an error message appear.
The SAME song a couple of days before runs smoothly. I'm not talking about a very complex song...just 7 Tracks...
Even if I close the song, the one thread is pulsing between 1/4 and 1/3.
Changing the buffer size does NOT affect this behavior.
    Hardware:
    iMac 27" i7 (Late 2009) with 12 GB RAM, Saffire PRO24 FW-Interface.
Please, has somebody an advice? What can I analyze? A solution would be perfect ;-)
    Cheers,
    MiLe...!

The current solution is not to run Logic under Yosemite but to roll back to a previous OS X / LPX combination....
The reason being.. many people have reported the same sort of behavior..  and at this time no stable fix is available.
It is unknown when such a fix will be ready for 'primetime' use so until it does appear, roll back using your backups.... if the issue becomes unmanageable.

  • Server CPU

I was wondering if it was normal in a school environment with about 30 computers for a server's CPU to spike at 100% and stay there untill restarted at which point the memmory usage than goes to 98%
    xserver   Mac OS X (10.4)

Whoa Barryc2, there are about 40 minutes between your posts... give people a chance to read and respond. Another good practice is to give as much detail about your situation as you can and the steps you have taken so far so people don't waste time suggesting things you've already done.
Some details that are necessary to begin to answer your question:
    1) What Xserve model are you running?
    2) What version of the of the OS are you running?
    3) What services are you offering?
If you're trying to do 30 network home folders under 10.3 on a single processor Xserve with 256MB then I would expect 100% load. If you're running AFP for 30 users on a dual processor Xserve with 4GB under 10.4.8 then even 50% processor load would be unexpected.
Any runaway process can cause 100% processor use. ARD processes will occasionally do this and they can simply be killed off and the load can return to normal. Have you opened Activity Monitor and gotten the name of the process that is taking all the time? This is step 1. If it is so locked up you can't get through the UI try top over SSH to get the same information.
Once you find out exactly what process is actually taking the time the process the you can start to debug the problem. Some processes can simply be killed off and the problem will fix itself but others are more complicated. Checking the logs right before the processor maxed out can also be helpful - but this is easier if the problem is narrowed down a single process or service.
    Hope this helps,
