Skype Problem: Lagging and disconnecting, but inte...

i did same subscription before existing subscription expiry. Money paid thorugh skype but i am unable to use minutes and i have to wait to use newly paid subscription and existing subscription does not have balance...

I've been spreading the word since my friend found out a solution!
A friend of mine in IT googled and it so far it seems to have eliminated the constant lag I've been getting every 20-30 seconds.
Here it goes:
Close skype completely.
Type in your spotlight: Terminal (black box looking icon)
Press enter then type in exactly:
cd ~/Library/caches/
Press enter again and then type in exactly:
sudo rm -d -v -r com.skype.skype
WARNING: It will give you a notice of caution that it could delete files, stay calm, all is good (I panicked too), then it'll ask you to type in your password (this refers to your actual mac password: the one you use to make changes to programs, give permission for installations, etc.)
Following the entering of your password there will be a giant wall of text, tons of code that you will not understand. Wait till this finishes (stops) and close terminal. Then proceed to re-open skype. Problem should be fixed! Ta-da!
Be sure to check activity monitor to compare your now normal % CPU levels to the abnormal ones that you were having before !
Goodluck and please let me know if it helps!

  • Skype increasing lagging and using too much CPU

    Hello,
Since Oct 15 which is approximately when I was upgraded to version 6.9(517) I have noticed that Skype has been lagging very badly. It starts as very tiny lags and eventually over an hour or two the lagging increases to 4-6 second lags. The person on the other end will be talking and in mid sentence Skype will stop (freeze up), the timer on the call will halt, and in 4-6 seconds I will hear the other half of the sentence. While all this was happening I noticed while I was running the "top" command on the command line that my CPU usage would spike anywhere from 60% to more than 100% on Skype. The lagging and freezing would happen approximately every 20 seconds or so. I also noticed when trying to hang up the call and having the other person call me back that even the "ring tone" that is played when a call comes in was lagged and froze in the middle only to resume a few seconds later. It seems the over usage of the CPU might be the culprit but I'm not sure. I've tried everything from resetting the router, reinstalling Skype, clearing out my User/Application/Preferences/com.skype.skype.plist and also the shared.xml in the Application Support/Skype directory. Oh, also once the lagging gets very bad I am unable to close Skype without force closing it. Anyone have any suggestions? This only started a few days ago and prior to that I have zero issues with Skype on a Mac.

  • Bluetooth keyboard lags and disconnects after upgrading to Yosemite

After updating to OS X Yosemite, I'm having serious bluetooth issues. The keyboard will sporadically stop working and I'm not able to type anything. When I check the bluetooth in the top menu bar, it says it is still connected even when it's not working. The other thing it does is lag veryyy badly. At first it will appear that it's just stopping again, but then the first letter will show up with the option for all the other versions of the letter like it does when you hold down a key. After about 3 seconds the next letter I originally typed shows up and follows suit. It does the same "holding it down" thing with the space bar and delete key as well, so you can imagine my frustration when a chunk of what I just wrote out is deleted and there's nothing I can do to stop it. The lag and this repeating key thing is so severe that I literally cannot get anything done. I'm a graphic designer so I need to use a mouse and keyboard together all day long and this is making it impossible for me to get anything done.
The only thing that seems to get it back working again is opening the keyboard bluetooth preferences, turning OFF the keyboard, waiting a bit, and turning it back on. And this only works some of the time. It will say "connected" right after I turn it back on but still won't let me type anything. After a couple tries it'll start working again.
I also have some issues with the mouse disconnecting but connects right away when you click. However, I now use a Wacom tablet so I don't have a need for the mouse anymore. The key shortcuts on my tablet will stop working at some points too, so I know the keyboard is my biggest problem.
I installed the Yosemite update (10.10.1) this morning, hoping that would save the day and I'm still having the same problem. I've had to do the "turn off keyboard" thing 3 times already in this post. I also reset the PRAM and rebooted a couple times-- still nothing. I'm at my wit's end with this thing, and I can't find any answers online. I'm about to chuck this keyboard out into this 5 feet of Buffalo snow.
If anyone can pleaseeee help me I would be greatly appreciative. Thank you!

USB mouse and built-in trackpad work fine, but I have a similar issue with the Magic Trackpad which leads me to believe it is a BT issue.
My phone does have BT switched on, but I never had any problems like this with Lion, which suggests ML is the issue.
I did just find a solution that seems to work, although it's not permanent.
One guy figured out that the problem happened more frequently after waking from sleep (same is true for me), and turning the BT radio on and off helped. He made a command-line utility to do that.
Seems to work for me so far.

  • Facetime lags and disconnects

Guys, I am having a problem with my facetime. It lags like crazy sometimes and disconnects at random moments.
I have a N router and have the latest firmware and great signal (100%).
According to speedtest.net I have 9mbps download and 2mbps upload speed with a ping of 23ms.
I don't know why it's lagging and why it's disconnecting all the time. I will always have to reset my wifi information after a disconnect to call the user back. (turn on airplane mode and turn it off).
Also, I've reset the network on the iphone multiple times and that has not solved anything.
I've also turned on and off my phone and turned and off the activation for facetime and the problem still persist.
    HELP!

     • You may be experiencing a weak wi-fi signal.
     • It is also possible you have interference .
     • Other computers sharing your network are using too much bandwidth.

  • Xbox 360 live lagged and disconnect often with Linksys WRT300N router

I live in a two story townhouse with the modem and wireless router (Linksys WRT300N) located in the upper floor and the Xbox 360 system with wireless adapter in the bottom floor.  Our laptop works fine with good connection but the Xbox live gameplay lagged big time and disconnect often.  What are we doing wrong?

Configure the X-BOX using static IP....subnet mask ....gateway & DNS numbers as in the range of router ....
Also use the wireless settings same as in router
    Forward the ports 88 & 3074 .... .on router .....

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard is lagging and disconnecting when using Macbook Pro via Bootcamp

    Hey guys,
I am using my Macbook Pro (I think from 2009) with an external monitor and the apple wireless keyboard (connection via Bluetooth).
First when I set up Bootcamp everything worked fine. But now suddenly the keyboard is lagging (letters sometimes appear after a few seconds or get stuck and typed 20 times or something) and randomly completely disconnecting.
I already downloaded the newest drivers for Boot Camp 64bit from the apple website, but this didnt solve my problem.
I tried disconnecting the keyboard on mac and then reconnecting on the Windows 7 partition again. Also didn't work.
Of course I had to reconnect the keyboard when on the mac.
But it's not that it's not working. I'm using the keyboard via Bootcamp right now. It's just that it's randomly doing this...
Now I don't know what to do. Do some of you have the same issues or have any ideas that might help?

  • Skype increased lagging and using too much CPU

This seems to be an ongoing problem - I haven't seen any 'fix' for this and I am also having the same problem.

Is there a fix for this yet?
If not, does anyone have a similar online program they use?

  • Apple tv lag and disconnecting from macbook pro

I have an apple TV connected to the projector in my room. I connect my macbook pro to the apple tv wirelessly (obviously). There is an airport in the hallway (maybe 20 yards from me), and I am on a network. I have videos downloaded from the internet on my computer that I want to show my students on the projector. Sometimes it works. However, more times than not, there is a lag, the video freezes (audio continues to play usually). Sometimes the apple tv just disconnects (which means reconnecting it and re-selecting my speaker -- total pain!). I need something reliable that I can count on to use with my classes! So far, Apple TV is not it.
Also, for some reason I cannot put a DVD in the drive and have it play on through apple TV to the projector. Something about not being able to change over display?
I could really use some help, I'm really frustrated. I teach K-5th, one after the other, and I have different curriculum for each -- it is hard to have enough back up when the apple tv does not work.

  • BT Infinity Lag and Disconnections when another co...

Hello, I have had BT infinity since the 28th of January and love the new found speeds I now have. However whenever my sister uses the internet for Netflix and other on-demand streaming services my connection on both my laptop and more importantly my Xbox drops out and I get disconnected.
This to me shouldn't happen especially on an infinity line. I am on Unlimited Infinity 1 + Calls as the maximum speed for my line would be just over 40Mbps so going onto Infinity 2 would have been pointless.
    Information on my home setup:
All devices are connected wirelessly - NOTE - I know that a wired connection would help but this is not possible due to distance between the router and my room. Also I think this is just a cop-out answer, it shouldn't just disconnect when another person uses it even on wireless.
There is a total of 4 devices that can connect at any one time but usually only three - The Xbox, My laptop and my sister's laptop.
The disconnections happen whenever my sister uses streaming services even at 2:00am like today which is what has brought me to this forum.
Any advice and answers would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think it is just my sister's laptop causing it I think its the fact she is using things like Netflix at the same time as me playing xbox. I had thought about those Powerline Adaptor's if thats what you mean by "homeplugs", but it would require me to put an long ethernet cable through the ceiling into the room above and do it from there as there would be no other way due to the location of my router.
    Would that be okay?
Do these Powerline Adaptors give the same speed and reliability as a wired connection?
There is no need to install ethernet cable with homeplugs, as that's the point of them.
The major benefit of powerline networking is that users can easily establish a network using a home's existing electrical wiring as the communication medium. There is no need to drill holes in walls or ceilings to route new wiring and, as a result, installation is quick, easy and relatively inexpensive. Powerline networking is an easily accomplished networking method for AC-powered devices, which by necessity must already be near power outlets.

  • Mac book air connects to internet w/ lag and drops

my macbook air has been working for the past year, but recently my internet has been lagging and disconnecting by itself every 30 seconds. all my computers connect through a router and modem but only the mac air is having internet problems. it keeps saying "the page cannot be displayed" even though airport shows that it is connected to the internet. (note: the mac air works flawlessly when I connect to other wifi locations outside of home)
    router: netgear
    all the things I've tried.
    -editing keychain settings
-deleting my network and creating a new one
    -resetting modem and router
    -resetting airport
    -changing dns and ip settings
    -resetting the mac air
    -turning off bluetooth
    -changing browser settings
    -smashing the router around
    nothing has worked....
p.s. there was one day where I changed my router and it worked for one day, the next day it didn't work again.

What are your wireless encryption settings? WEP, WPA2? Have you tried it with no encryption? Was it faster? Sometimes if you have rearranged the room or moved the router, interference can start. I also would download istumbler and see if you have neighbors using the same or adjacent channels. It will also show you the noise on your Netgear. Maybe this will bring some ideas to you:

When i switch on the windows the fan noise still there but the performance is good. Please advice me what might be the problem and what shall i do to solve it.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
Triple-click the line of text below on this page to select it:
    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}' | open -f -a TextEdit
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. If the command produced no output, the window will be empty. Post the contents of the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window), if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. You can then close the TextEdit window. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that. No typing is involved in this step.
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    { sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix)|org\.(amav|apac|cups|isc|ntp|postf|x)/{print $3}'; sudo defaults read com.apple.loginwindow LoginHook; sudo crontab -l; } 2> /dev/null | open -f -a TextEdit
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Heed that warning, but don't post it. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
    Step 3
    { launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|org\.(x|openbsd)/{print $3}'; crontab -l 2> /dev/null; } | open -f -a TextEdit
    Step 4
    ls -1A /e*/{la,mach}* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts .la* 2> /dev/null | open -f -a TextEdit
Important: If you formerly synchronized with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
    Step 5
osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item' | open -f -a TextEdit
Remember, steps 1-5 are all copy-and-paste — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
    You can then quit Terminal.

That it is still working is miraclous.. most have died.. lots started flaking out at 18months to 2years..

The few that remained now seem to have reached EOL.. you can repair if you have some skills.. fairly cheaply.

  • BB really slow and disconnection problems. Prepari...

    Hi all
I've been having recent problems with my BB connection which resulted in a visit from an engineer last week. The engineer checked the master box and found no issues. He advised that I replace the cable connecting the hub to the master box as he thought it could be damaged and leading to the problem.
I've replaced the cable and microfilters throughout, reset the hub, moved the hub, tried wired and wireless connection, changed channels but I'm still getting really poor speeds and disconnections and its become totally unusable. I cant obtain a result from the BTspeedtest application as it continually says an error has occurred during the test (when I can get online at all).
If I can get online when I get home I'll post up my exact hub stats. From memory the hub has remained connected for around 50hrs and the speeds are upstream 480kbps downstream 438kbps.
Finally, in readiness for the 2nd engineer on Friday is there anything I should do, for example should I connect the hub to the test port on the master socket?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Ok folks,
after removing the hub from the main BT socket (NTE5?) and connecting the hub directly to the test port I get an immediate improvement in download speeds. Stats below.
What should my next course of action be, does that mean the socket is faulty or is something off somewhere else?
BTspeedtest still shows the following error when I attempt a speedtest
The Performance Tester could not perform Assured Rate throughput test , Please try again later.
