Skype stopped working after trying to launch it

Since this morning I'm not able to launch Skype anymore. I've tried re-installing it, but that ain't working. I've attached a dxdiag.txt. Please help me out here

    Hi this is Interesting and thank you for your support till now.
    It has for sure to do with the screen resolution...after I unplugged it and rebooted everything worked fine. Now I connected the screen again and have set the resolution down to 1600x1024 and that also worked... after that I setted the resolution back to 1650x1050 and it still runs, also after a few reboots...
    As soon as it will give some errors I will update to the latest skype and will do the same 'tricks' ... because I had skype 7.xxx installed before , without succes... lets see how long my skype runs properly

    Try to reset all Skype settings. Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata% and then press Enter or click the OK button. The Windows File Explorer will pop up. There locate a folder named “Skype”. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old. Next go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %temp%\skype and then press Enter or click the OK button. Delete the DbTemp folder. Restart Skype. N.B. If needed, you will still be able to re-establish your call and chat history. All data is still saved in the Skype_old folder. 

  • Lightroom 5 stops working after trying to email photos within LR and using Outlook 2013

    I recently upgraded to Lightroom 5 and was tryinhg to email some photo via the Lightoom Send Email dialog.  My default email is Outlook 2013 and I am using Windows 7 64bit.  When the dialog is filled and send email is selected LR 5  says "Lightroom has stopped working". I think there may be an issue with the email.dll in LR5.  I have seen where others not using Outlook 2013 seems to be having success. Looks like LR5 and Outlook 2013 not playing together nicely.  Any help or getting this issue elevated to Adobe higher support appreciated.

  • Themes suddenly stopped working after trying new theme

    I installed a theme in TB and it looked nice, so I decided to try it in FF36.04. It worked, but when I tried to go back to my old theme (Same author), it didn't work and the area at the top went black with just the usual text. I tried to go back to my old theme (same Author) which has worked fine for years. When I went to Add-ons | themes it lists the various themes, but doesn't display pics. If you go to the specific page of the theme (via add-ons) it only shows the author and theme name along with the disable/remove button, no picture or any other details. This is the same for all themes.
    I tried adding a new theme at random and it worked and displayed the picture in the themes tab, but the others still don't work. They show different colours if I enable different themes, which I assume is the background. I've tried all the usual things, going back to default (seems OK), tried restarting FF, Rebooting laptop, etc. but nothing gets my old theme back that I've had for years.
    Because a new theme worked, I could presumably remove all my old themes and go and download them and install them again, but something went wrong and I'd like to fix whatever it is, rather than perhaps leave a hidden problem.
    Any suggestions?
    ***Edit - Just updated to FF37.0.1 and no change. I have noticed though that the theme I tried to add originally (the one when the problem started) is not actually in the list of themes! It did work at first, it was when I went to change back to my old theme that the problem started.

    A bit more information.
    I found the lightweighttheme-header and lightweighttheme-footer would change to HTML files if I set the default FF theme. I renamed those for safe keeping and copied the picture files of the same name from TB, which I confirmed were the correct pictures.
    Restarted FF and no change (tried changing personas, etc). It did not create a lwthemes directory. I copied the 2 files from the lwthemes directory of TB over to a new lwthemes under FF's xxxxx.default and started FF again, but still no change.
    I checked the prefs.js and found the 'A Tropical State of Mind' referenced in numerous places, along with other personas. Also found these settings -

    I changed the '''lightweightThemes.persisted.footerURL''' and headerURL to true and I now have the correct pictures back in FF - However when I go to the ad-ons | Appearance, the list of personas still has no pictures and the individual pages for those personas are the same (blank other than the name and buttons), even the 'A tropical state of mind' one that is now showing correctly at the top of FF. It has updated the files in the lwthemes directory.
    I then tried to select another persona with no picture and it's now back to the same problem with just the background (presumably) up, even when changing back to the tropical one that was just working.

  • Sound stops working after trying to play a movie.

    If I open I-Tunes and play a movie there is no sound. Before attempting to play a movie, sounds work as intended. Resetting the i-phone corrects the sound issue until I try to play a movie again. The sound problem affects all sounds including navigation clicks, games and ring tones.

    Do a backup.
    Take notes of all account information or take screen shots. You may need to set the accounts up again. Quit Mail.
    Copy the line below.
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
    Select Go/Go To Folder from the Finder menu bar. Paste the line into the window. You won’t see it.
    Move the folder com.apple.mail to your desktop. You must move the entire folder, not just the contents.
    Relaunch Mail and test. If the problem is solved, recreate any required Mail settings and import any emails you want to save from the folder on the desktop. If the problem remains, return the folder to where you got it replacing the one that is there.

    If you prefer to make your user library permanently visible, use the Terminal command found below.

    You might want to bookmark the command. I had to use it again after every update. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible.

  • Right USB Port stops working after disconnecting device since 10.9.2

    Hi,
    Since updating to 10.9.2 the right USB port on my MBA stops working after diconnecting a device (tested: external hard drive, USB flash drive, USB HSPA Modem). The only way to get the port recognizing the device on that port is to do a restart. If the device is connected from starting the MBA it works fine, if I then eject the drive and reinsert it or a different USB device the device doesn't get recognized. The devices do get power, my WD passport ultra spins up just fine, the USB HSPA modem also indicates it's working (with signal) but nothing shows up in finder or diskutility. If the modem is connected from start (and thus working) and then disconnect from the internet but not remove the drive I can reconnect to the internet. The problem only occurs after disconnecting the device. The port becomes inactive. The left USB port works as expected.

    It's an Apple Pro keyboard and mouse, the dongle is
    plugged into the Mac and not the keyboard. The same
    set-up is, and has been working on all our other
    Macs.
    The sleep issue sounds interesting- hum, maybe...
    Is your keyboard plugged into one of the USB connections on an Apple monitor? If so, you may want to change that connection to one that is on the G5 itself. My monitor came with a warning note indicating that problems will likely occur if the keyboard is connected to the monitor.
    I also had a problem with the automatic sleep function. After much trouble-shooting and a logic board replacement, it was concluded that coming out of the automatic sleep function with any USB device active would freeze the entire USB bus. After disabling automatic sleep in system preferences, I've had no freezing problems. My machine works fine with the manual sleep function in the Apple Menu.

  • Skype stopped working on ipod touch w 4.3.5?

    My skype stopped working on my ipod touch (3rd gen), maybe when I upgraded the ipod touch software to iOS 4.3.5. I have looked everywhere online for an answer (well, looked in the places I could think of). If, for example, I delete my Skype app and re-install it (from my ipod touch device), it doesn't fix the problem.
    If I delete my Skype app from iTunes on my laptop and re-install it on my laptop, and then sync it to my ipod touch, this doesn't seem to fix it.
    Finally (and I don't know how I did this, as can't seem to find other references to this, I went to safari and googled my problem, from my device. I received a 'skype blue' page stationg 'skype isn't available for your phone' (heading), then 'Due to a mobile upgrade? why not find an iphone, Android or
    Symbian phone that works with skype? etc etc. Obviously this is not the right spot (apart from the bleeding obvious, ie that skype doesn't work any more). I am not using it from a smart phone.
    when I install or re-install skype on my ipod touch, and click on the skype logo, the skype welcome page has 'skype name' and 'skype password' but I can't enter any data, nor can I hit the 'sign in'. The only thing that works is 'create account' (which I don't want to do, obviously, as already have a skype account).

    Perhaps the answer lies in returning to an older software version (iOS I mean)? But can only see how to 'restore factory settings' so presumably that would be to a much older software version (or not fix the problem). As you can tell, I may be talking rubbish, sorry.
    ps - I have 'flashed my firmware' once some time ago on a laptop I had (PC), but I would be hesitant to try something dramatic, given my lack of knowledge!
    FINALLY (promise) in the drop-down box below, after choosing my Product, when choosing Operating System, the highest choice is '4.3.3'. I have 4.3.5 I think. Maybe THIS IS MY PROBLEM??

  • Coldfusion 64 bit windows installer stops working after recent microsoft update

    Coldfusion 64 bit windows installation stops working after recent microsoft updates and how I worked around it.
    My question is at the end.
    Trying to deploy coldfusion 9 enterprise 64 bit trial  version onto a Windows 2003 64 bit datacenter OS with all OS updates from MS (as of 4-7-2011).
    Steps taken (remember, this is all 64 bit):
    1. Installed the base OS which was slipstreamed with SP2.
    2. Checked w/ microsoft and installed 63 OS updates.
    3. Launch the CF9 trial exe.
    4. As soon as the first screen finishes (the one that looks like  it is extracting files) then the second screen pops up (the one that  simply says CF Adobe Coldfusion 9) and the progress bar quickly moves  95% to the right and the install application quits. No error, no nothing. No log file either.
    5. After a moment of incredulous silence (and retrying/rebooting,  etc), I started to google it. I found nothing. However, I did find a  post (thanks dspent!) that was helpful in that it told how he was able  to get at a log file of sorts, by pre-extracting the  coldfusion_9_WWE_win64.exe file and launching the adobe_cf.exe by hand.  (Dspent's install snafu was different than mine, but his post was very  valuable and got me started in the right direction.)
    6. Got a copy of rarunzipper and extracted the coldfusion_9_WWE_win64.exe file.
    7. From the windows directory created by step 6, I launched adobe_cf.exe.
    8. Same thing (the install application quits. No error, no nothing. No log file either.).
    9. I examine the hs_err_pidxxxx.log file (where the xxxx is a number).
    10. I see inside that file an ominous message: "A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime" then "Problematic frame ntdll.dll" and then "The crash happened outside the Java Virtual Machine in native code".
    11. OK, so now I am thinking ntdll.dll !! Native code !! It is like Java is telling me that for some reason it can't dance with the OS.
    12. On a hunch, I decided to test a CF install again on a server with just the base install of W3K3 64 SP2 (ie: skipping step 2 above this time).
    13. Bingo! That install works.
    14. Therefore, one of the 63 patches I had downloaded from MS had triggered a problem with the CF installer.
    15. Back on the first server (the one with the MS security  patches installed and the one that CF won't install on). In the CF file  adobe_cf.lax (one of the files extracted in step 6) there is a line that  mentions where the install gets it's java. Find that file, and check java version installer is using. It is using 1.6.0_14-b08.
    16. Off to the Java website, and there is a newer version of java (1.6.0_24-b07). Downloaded and installed it.
    17. Modify a line in adobe_cf.lax :
       before
         lax.nl.current.vm=resource\\jre\\bin\\java.exe
       after
         lax.nl.current.vm=C:\\program files\\java\\jre6\\bin\\java.exe
    (that assumes that you let step 16 install to the default location)
    Save the file.
    18. Run the install ... ** IT WORKS ** !
    Obviously, the built in java provided with the CF installer is  no longer compatible with some change introduced by some recent MS  update on the W2K3 64b SP2 platform.
    And now the interesting part. Although I forced the installer to used the new java, it did not incorporate it into the cf build (ie: in jvm.config, you still see c:/coldfusion9/runtime/jre AND the  version of java.exe that is in that directory is the original version,  not the newer version I forced the installer to use).
    On the surface, CF seems to run OK, but I have not done any application testing yet.
    And finally my
    ** QUESTION **
    Would it be appropriate to simply point the java.home var to the new java directory? I see that the directory structures and files are not exactly the same  (close though) so I certainly don't want to break things by doing this,  but instinct tells me that if the installer broke using the older  version, then something else is gonna break down the road if I don't use  the new version. On the other hand, the differences in the  directories and files is enough that it makes me very nervous, with my  limitied java skill set, to make this decision.

    Wow great post no doubt much of the information will be useful for those on Win03 SP2 +. Have to say not come across similar problem on Win08 r2 SP1 +.
    So to your question. Adobe security bulletin (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/894/cpsid_89440.html) recommends running CF8 and CF9 with JVM 1.6.0_24. The bulletin does not say how to do that. I take you installed JDK and not just JRE 1.6.0_24? Post install of JDK follow these steps:
    Stop CF - SERVICES.msc stop "ColdFusion 9 Application Server".
    Take a copy of CF\runtime\bin\jvm.config - so you got a backup.
    Edit CF\runtime\bin\jvm.config find line "java.home=" and comment it out eg:
    #java.home=C:/ColdFusion9/runtime/jre
    Add new line like so and save jvm.config:
    java.home=C:/Program Files/Java/jdk1.6.0_24/jre
    Note  there the slashes and the location of the JRE (runtime) - you need to  point to the one in JDK because the other JRE in C:\Program  Files\Java\jre6 will be missing a DLL.
    Start CF via SERVICES.msc.

    Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried, until the problem is resolved. Some of these steps are only possible if you have control over the wireless router.
    Step 1
    Turn Wi-Fi off and back on.
    Step 2
    Restart the router and the computer. Many problems are solved that way.
    Step 3
    Change the name of the wireless network, if applicable, to eliminate any characters other than letters and digits. You do that on your router via its web page, if it's not an Apple device, or via AirPort Utility, if it is an Apple device.
    Step 4
    Run the Network Diagnostics assistant.
    Step 5
    In OS X 10.8.4 or later, run Wireless Diagnostics and fix the issues listed in the Summary, if any.
    Step 6
    Back up all data before proceeding.
    Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
    Enter the name of your wireless network in the search box. You should have one or more "AirPort network password" items with that name. Make a note of the name and password, then delete all the items. Quit Keychain Access. Turn Wi-Fi off and then back on. Reconnect to the network.
    Step 7
    You may need to change other settings on the router. See the guidelines linked below:

    Potential sources of interference
    Step 8
    Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.
    Step 9
    Reset the System Management Controller (SMC).

  • Photoshop elements 12 stopped working after swapping mainboard

    Hi everybody!
    On a Win 7 Pro PC the PSE 12 Photo Editor stopped working after swapping the defective mainboard.
    I tried uninstall and reinstall as admin, with disabled security software.
    We always get the welcome screen from where you launch organizer or editor, of which only the organizer works.
    Launching the editor directly from the application folder or from within the organizer fails too.
    Also the newest update installed, does not change this behaviour.
    I'd appreciate your suggestions!

    I am having the same problem and tried calling tech support was on hold for an hour and a half its
    driving me crazy trying to figure it out.  Did an online chat which was no help what so ever.
    If I find out something I will let you know for sure...

  • Why did AME stop working after the last Windows 7 update

    AME suddenly stopped working after the last Windows 7 update. After the initial splash screen, I get a message saying that AME is not working and the program will be closed. Then I get the windows message that it is searching for a solution, then nothing. I am using the Production CS6. This happens whether I try to start AME directly, or queuing through Premiere Pro. I have tried reinstalling the entire package and have implemented all available updates from Adobe. I have no clue why this happened, but AME is crucial to my workflow.

    Try to delete the following folders and then launch AME:
    %AppData%\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder
    %AppData%\Adobe\Common
    Make sure to first make a backup of those folders.
