SLD questions

I am trying to set up an SLD.
I have a portal and sld running on the same j2ee (standalone)
I also have an ecc 5 (abap standalone) instance.
Question #1
Do you need an abap instace to use the sld.
Question #2
When you set up the SLD bridge, to which box are you pointing to?
For instance, if I had just the portal and SLD running on the same J2EE, would you point the SLD to "localhost"
Question #3
Where do you find the "roles"
LcrUser
LcrClassWriter Create
LcrInstanceWriter
LcrInstanceWriter
LcrInstanceWriter
LcrInstanceWriter
LcrAdministrator Administrative
Are they in the J2ee that the sld runs on?
Thanks
Jeremy

Hi,
Q1: ABAP not required
Q2: bridge points to the J2ee host, suggest give fully qualified host name
Q3: These roles by default are not present.
The authorizations for the roles are present. Please download the SLD post-instn guide for 640. There you find a page which talks about which authorizations should be maintained for each role.
Go to http://<SLD-host>:<port>
login into user management.
Create a new role with the desired name (example: LcrUser) use the same case as required. Assign the desired authorizations to the role.
Then you could later assign the role to group and then user.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Chetan

  • SLD question..

    Hello,
I removed one SWC from SLD. Again I imported that SWC which i have zip file exported earlier. When i import, is this allocate new GUID. Now the question is there any effect to my existing Objects in IR. Is there any effect to my scenarios if I change them.
Currently they are fine because of existing runtime cache objects. Any idea..
    Thanks,
    Srinivas

    Hi Srinivas,
It will definately affect to the existing SWC in Integration Repository.
The GUID is the unique ID generated for each SWC. If you delete and export the same in SLD then the GUID gets changed.
If you see your SWC in IR you will find it with the GUID.
Thus you need to re-import the SWC to work the whole scenario and replace the GUID also that identifies the SWC as conatiner while processing the interface.
    Thanks

  • SLD question: When is Logical system mandatory?

    Hi Experts,
When we create a business system we get a dialog for entering logical system. My question is, for what business system, logical system in mandatory? Is it for ABAP? or third party? or Java?
What is the real significance of a logical system?
    Thanks
    Gopal

    Hi,
When your Business System you create is going to be a Web AS ABAP and you are going to use this with the IDOC adapter , then the Assignment of the Logical System Name with the Client is mandatory.
Otherwise, when you are adding a clinet to a technical system, the Logical System Name is optional.

  • JDI and SLD question

    Hi,
We've DEV and PRD Portal Systems. Currently PRD Webdynpro applications using local SLD on PRD. But we'll install and configure JDI on DEV System. Also aiming to use SLD for JDI which resides on DEV.
    So the scema looks like;
JDI uses SLD which is on DEV and PRD Dynpro apps using SLD which is on PRD.
Will it work? Do we need to use single SLD?
    regards

    Hi Huseyin,
When using 2 SLDs one for DEV and one for PROD, you should export all home developed products/SCs you developed from DEV and import them to PROD as well - keep the CIM consistant. This is the only requirement.
You should do this step every time you are ready to release new product or version.

  • SLD in high availability configuration

    Hi All,
    SLD question:
we're implementing a EP-KM NW 04 scenario without backend integration.
We'd like to run SLD inside the J2EE EP cluster environment.
Note 825116 explains how to use SLD in a cluster, but SLD http connection setup in service SLD Data Supplier is propagated between the servers.
So, it remains a SPOF unless the instance on wich SLD resides, stay on HW cluster, but this is not one of the  recommended configurations.
Wich is the solution: go through the LB mechanism for reaching  SLD via http, or make a specific server configuration if possible?

  • A quick question about WebDynpro SLD and R/3 with concurrent users

    Hello ,
I have a very quick question about Webdynpros and SLD connecting to an R/3 system, when you configure a webdynpro to connect to an R/3 system using SLD, you configure a user name and password from the R/3  for the SLD to use. What I would like to know is when I have concurrent users of my webdynpro, how can I know what one user did in R/3 and what another user did? Is there a way for the users of the web dynpro to use their R/3 credentials so SLD can access the R/3? Like dynamically configuring the SLD for each user?
    - I would like to avoid leaving their their passwords open in the code ( configuring two variable to get the users username and password and use these variables as JCO username and password )
    Thanks Ubergeeks,
    Guy

    Hi Guy
You will have to use Single Sign On to achieve this. In the destination you have defined to connect to R/3 , there is an option to 'useSSO' instead of userid and password. This will ensure that calls to R/3 will be with the userid that has logged into WAS. You wont need to pass any passwords because  a login ticket is generated from WAS and passed on to R/3. The userid is derived from this ticket.
For this to happen you will have to maintain a trust relation ship between R/3 and your WAS ,there is detailed documentation of this in help files. Configuration is very straight forward and is easy to perform

  • SLD Landscape Design Question

After reading the Planning Guide - System Landscape Directory, I am left with a question.
    The Setup:
    Standard three system landscape
    ECC 6.0 Ehp5 on NW 7.02ECC Instances: DE1, QE1, PE1
    PI 7.31
    PI Instances: DP1, QP1, PP1
    PI Business Systems: DE1CLNT100, QE1CLNT100, PE1CLNT100
Each PI Instance has a local SLD
Management LandscapeSolution Manager 7.1 on NW 7.02
    SolMan Instance: SP1
    Local SLD
    LMDB
Reading through the Planning Guide, the recommendation (pg. 45, picture below) seems to be to have all systems self-report to PP1. That is, without synchronization, only PP1 knows about any systems because they all report to PP1 and do not report in to their local SLDs. The data is then sent back to DP1 & QP1 via bridge forwarding. Business Systems are manually entered into their respective local SLDs, but then have to be manually exported/imported from DP1 --> QP1 --> PP1. Once it's all gathered into PP1 again, all data is pushed to SolMan's SLD on SP1 via a unidirectional content synchronization.
If I read this correctly, then all SLD's will end up "knowing" all systems and business systems: e.g. the sld of DP1 will have entries for QP1 and PP1 and for business systems QE1CLNT100 and PECLNT100.
Earlier in the guide, I gathered that there was value in not having all of the data in Development in that there is then clear separation between non-production SLDs and production SLDs. The above recommended setup seems to go against this idea of separation. Plus, it requires a significant amount of manual upkeep.
As an alternative (pictured below), what if each environment only reported to it's local SLD (DE1 --> DP1, QE1--> QP1, PE1--PP1). (Note that in the picture the SLD is drawn separate, but I've heard that most customers run their local SLD on PI, so the SLD depicted in each environment actually runs on the PI system in this scenario.) Further, what if the SLD's then synchronized sequentially in a full unidirectional content sync fashion. (DP1 does a full uni-directional Content Sync to QP1, QP1 does a full uni-directional Content Sync to PP1, and PP1 does a full uni-directional Content Sync to SP1.)
DP1 would only know about it's own systems. QP1 would know about it's own plus DP1 (which it needs). PP1 and SP1 would both have full visibility into all systems.  Furthermore, the manually entered business systems would also be automatically synchronized and the whold manual export/import process could be avoided or  a manual export/import could be implemented between Q and Production for safety with an automatic bridge forward of Data Supplier data.
Are there downsides to the second scenario that I am not seeing? Please comment!
    Best regards,
      --Tom

Although the guide states that Dev systems only needs to know about other systems in the DEV environment and QAS systems only needs to know about systems in the DEV and QAS environments and only PRD needs to know all systems, I am finding that I can't get the groups set up correctly when the DEV environment has no visibility to the QAS environment.
It seems that the recommended structure (where all systems are known in all environments) will facilitate the correct setup of the PI transports. So far, that is the biggest arguement I've been able to find against the second approach outlined above. Using full sync all the way through is also not an option if you're doing any development as any changes in the DEV system automatically flow through to PRD almost instantly. Using automatic bridge forwarding and import/export might be a usable alternative, but the recommended approach from page 41 of the planning guide does seem to have the best of all worlds.

  • Sorry raising the same question: idoc and SLD

forum(dont get irritated as me raising the same question) ,
    clarify it
when i make a business system corresponding to a SAP system(Say Z), in the SLD, do i need to name its logical system name in a way thats similar to the way which the system Z appends in the Sender partner while sending an IDOC to my XI,
means if sender's system  Z  has system-id SD1 and client 330,   should i make a business system with logical system name SD1CLNT,
so that when an IDOC reaches my XI for system Z, it can identify that the IDOC has reached from a particular system, coz i believe when an IDOC is sent from system Z, the sender partner is appended as "System-id"CLNT"client no."..
    is it so????

    Hi,
When you see the moni trace , it is just info, so no error, and for the metadata always uses the sender Port , through port only the metadata will be passed, this was configured in IDX2.
Next whether the IDoc was reached to XI or not , we can see in sender side WE02 and direction is 1 and with the basic type see the status is 12 or not .. and next see in IDX5 in R3 instance of XI.

  • XI Transports general question (SLD / CTS+)

Hi all, I ve the both following question : (it is not clear for me)
    1) Does CTS+ transport management use SLD transport and target data linked with business system to adapt XI configuration (ID) regarding Business sender and receiver systems ?????
    2) One of my customer want to install only 2 XI system.
    - 1 linked with Dev & Quality R/3 environment
    - 1 linked with production R/3 system
Is it possible regarding SLD content ?
How must the transports be managed in this case using CTS ?

  • SLD import question.

    Hi,
I have question regarding SLD CIM. I have two SLD which I am tranporting the SLD content.
For target SLD the CIM model version is lower than the Source SLD CIm Model.
While doing import it has given two warning, but allowed me to import.
That wanring is about Data inconsistency. I would like to know what kind of implications may happen in this case and how to resolve them.
    Thanks,
    Srinivas

    from http://service.sap.com/swdc  via the path

    download CR contents
then upload via: SLD -> Administration -> Import
I believe that there are two update here, they should be in sequence. Not sure if you have wrong sequence or not.

  • SLD Landscape Question

    Hi
We are about to implement the SLD landscape for our PI systems.
From the documentation (SDN and HELP.SAP.COM), it is recommended to have all SLD Data Suppliers send to the PI Production SLD Bridge.  The SLD data is then automatically forwarded to the DEV/QA SLD Bridge (Design Time SLD).
This is straight forward and I can see how to get the ABAP stack to look at the correct SLD Server.
However, when it comes to the JAVA stack, I can't see how to configure the SLD CLIENT of an instance in the design-time landscape to use the design-time SLD Server.
    Version of Netweaver in 7.0.
    Thanks
    Doug

SAP Web AS (Java) 6.30/6.40 Start-up: JProbe's Direct Support
This feature is available starting with JProbe 5.2.2. For details of application server integration, refer to the JProbe documentation. Here, the single steps for the SAP application server are briefly described.
Step 1: Create an Integration for the instance to be profiled.
Click Tools -> Application Server Integration.
          Choose SAP Application Server 6.30.
          Click Create.
To fill out the columns, follow the help you get via tooltip.
Specify whether server or dispatcher should be profiled.
    Step 2: Create a Configuration.
Click Tools -> Manage J2EE Configurations.
          Click Add.
Fill in Configuration Name and Integration.
Optionally, you could specify an application to be profiled; this is just used to help to set the correct filters for profiling. If you know which packages or classes should be profiled, you can leave these fields empty; otherwise, specify the directory where the application is deployed and the .ear or .war file in this directory.
Step 3: Create the J2EE Settings.
Click Session -> New J2EE Settings.
          Specify the configuration.
Specify the other options, especially set filters (optionally, you could use the application specified in the configuration for filtering).
Step 4: Use the Connection Manager.
Different to "startup via jlaunch" below the Connection Manager has to be used.
Click Tools -> Options -> Advanced Session; mark "Use Connection Manager."
Step 5: Check the property 'IDxxxxxx.JavaPath' in instance.properties in the directory /usr/sap/<SID>/JCxx/j2ee/cluster
JProbe relies on the property to find Java home, but there are Web AS 6.30/6.40 SPs that do not have this property.
If it is not included, add it for dispatcher or server (dependent on which one should be profiled)
          For example, add "ID8156650.JavaPath=C:/java/jdk1.4.2_06."
Be aware that using the standard startup procedure instance.properties is overwritten, so you might repeat this step.
Step 6: Start the J2EE Engine with JProbe
Start the database and the central instance (enqueue and message server).
In JProbe click "Run" for the J2EE settings defined before.
Dispatcher and server of the J2EE Engine will be started; the one specified in the Integration will be profiled.
SAP Web AS (Java) 6.30/6.40 Start-up: Using JProbe 5.2.x via JLaunch
    Starting the Server via JLaunch
Detailed instructions how to start JLaunch can be found in the documentation of SAP Web AS (Java). Here we give only the minimal list of steps:
       1.
Include the location of JLaunch in the PATH
       2.
Go to base directory of dispatcher or server (depending on which one you want to start).
          jlaunch pf=c:\usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\profile\<SID>_JCxx_<Host>
          -nodename=IDxxxxxxx
where "IDxxxxxxx" can be figured out from the "instance.properties" in directory "cluster."
    Creating a JProbe Startup File
In order to start up JProbe via JLaunch, you need to create a start-up file (.jpl) with the JProbe launchpad as follows:
       1.
Click Session -> New J2SE Settings
       2.
          Enter filters, triggers, ...
       3.
In the Configuration main class and the classpath fields are mandatory; a dummy entry for main class is sufficient, for classpath you could use %CLASSPATH%
       4.
          Save the .jpl file
       5.
Switch off the Connection Manager; in JProbe 5.2.x a Connection Manager is introduced, which does not work if a Java application is started from a C-framework; therefore use Tools -> Options -> Session -> Advanced to switch off the Connection Manager
       6.
Change the .jpl file with a text editor
Comment out the line starting with -jp_java
Add the connection information and the snapshot directory information; related to the introduction of the Connection Manager this is not written when the .jpl file is saved in the launchpad
                    o
                      -jp_socket=<host for analysis>:<port> (e.g. localhost:4444)
                    o
                      -jp_snapshot_dir=<snapshot directory> (e.g. c:
    Jprobe
    snapshots)
    Starting JProbe with the Server
Start JLaunch as above, but attach the following parameters to the JLaunch command line:
    jlaunch pf=... -nodename=... -Xbootclasspath/a:JProbe-Base-Dir\lib\jpagent.jar
                -Xrunjprobeagent:-jp_input=.jpl-file
For the .jpl-file please, specify the complete path. If there are blanks in the file or directory names, use double quotes or the DOS notation (e.g. PROGRA~1). After starting JLaunch you can now attach the viewer to it (JProbe -> Program -> Attach to Remote/Running Session).
    regards

  • Question on SLD

    Dear All,
We have two SLDs running on NW 7.0 (Non-Prod SLD and Prod SLD). We have CIM Content, Technical Landscape, Business Landscape defined in both SLDs. However we are not clear how the flow should be defined for
    - CIM Content
    - Technical Landscape Information
    - Business Landscape Information
    - Transport Path with Business Landscape defined.
We have a security policy that Production Systems and Non Production Systems to be on separate subnet to avoid any security lapse.
    - We will be using SLD heavily for PI.
    - Currently we are forwarding information from Non-Prod SLD to Prod SLD using Non-Prod SLD's data supplier.
    - We have also defined a local SLD for Solution Manager for SMSY, Solution Manager Diagnostics, CTS+, etc.
I could not find satisfactory information both on SAP Marketplace or SDN, I thought of asking the Gurus who have implemented and actively using it extensively.
    Any insight is highly appreciated.

  • A question about SLD

    Hi Experts,
When i trying to deploy application using RFC the following error appears...
There is some thing missing in the properties of 'WD_RFC_METADATA_DEST or SLD in step 4.2 (Msg. Server) when Create new JCo Destination, The System Name and Logon Group is none .I think i make some mistakes. But what should do ?

    hi cheng
    go to t-code SMLG.
Most probably, there Logon Group is <blank>.
    Create a logon group there.
    Now go to t-code RZ70
and start the SLD Data Collector.
now you can create the JCo connection in the SLD.
