Sleep Lock & Dropped calls

My IPhone 3 has a major issue with dropped calls or when I disconnect a call it automatically goes into sleep lock. My wireless provider is AT&T and according to them there is 'moderate' 3G coverage in my area yet at most I consistently get 1 bar signal strength @ the 3G level. The 2G level is stronger and less of a problem vs. the 3G yet still have the same dropped calls issue. Now I just got a a new warranty replacement phone then downloaded the latest update from Apple and this phone has exact same problems as the first phone. AT&T even authorized a new SIMS card for the 2nd phone and still the same problem. Bought a Jabra Stone and guess what? As soon as I use it, the call gets dropped.
Anyone else having the same issues or suggestions? Tks.

I would go through the standard troubleshooting steps:
Restart
Reset
Restore
Restore as new phone
Replace SIM
Make appointment at Genius Bar if all of the above fails

  • Looking for an App that forces iPhone into sleep/lock mode

I don't need anything fancy.  Searching the app store has proved fruitless.
I don't need any password protection.  I dropped my phone and it broke the sleep/lock button.
I just wanna lock my phone so I can throw it into my purse without pressing buttons and using power.
As it is now I've set the auto lock to 1min and stand around waiting til it shuts off, however this is frustrating because when I'm using it its usually on for hours at a time and 1min of idle shuts it down so I have to go into settings and set autolock to never... and then go back and set it to 1m to shut it down.
If anyone can name an app to lock/sleep my phone I'd be grateful.  If you don't know of an app... perhaps you could write one and sell it on app store.
    Dayna.
ps.  if you write one please send me the name.  I'm probably not the only one with a dropped phone!
pps.  Reset, Restore, Restore as new have all failed.

As already provided, Apple does not make the necessary API's available to developers to do what you want. Only Apple could implement such.

  • My phone keeps dropping calls what can i do to fix this?

My phone is dropping calls, and having trouble downloading apps over the 3G.

The first thing I'd try is resetting the phone. Press and hold both the home and sleep buttons for 10 seconds or so until the Apple logo appears. You won't lose any data. The iPhone 5 also has a sleep button replacement program. If you have one with the bad button that may also be causing the problem.

  • UCCX drops calls

    Hi,
We use UCCX 5.0.2 and CUCM 6.1.2.
Several times a day some calls are dropped as soon as the agent picks up the call.
If i do a debug isdn q931, I see that call was disconnected from the side of agent. Am I right?
But agent doesn't drop that call.
How can I resolve this problem?

Graham, We use g711 codec and have two regions, but in this call only one region takes part(with g711).
I noticed that some day it happens with one agent most of all, someday with another agent..

  • Sleep/Lock button iPhone 4

Bought the iPhone 4 like a month ago.
Great device but I just got this minor issue.
Been using the APPLE BUMPER on it and since a day or two the sleep/lock button has been stuck. I need to push it REALLY hard and then it'll work.
Already called my service provider (since Apple doesn't have any support overhere) and they told me that it's my own fault and they can fix it for 300 $ (that's 215 euro's for JUST A SLEEP/LOCK button).
Does anyone else had this problem also and what can I do about it?

See thread 2713539. You're by no means alone. Mine did it after about 7 months. It's not your fault, it's a fault with the iphone4 that Apple need to address and help their owners with. It's disgusting that owners are being charged for repairs. My understanding is that if it's within warranty, you can take it to an Apple Centre and it will be replaced with a refurbished unit immediately as there is no quick repair for this common design/manufacturing defect. I love my iphone but am not happy that outside warranty it seems you will be lucky if Apple don't just fob you off and make you pay for a hardware problem they know about but won't take liability for. I guess they're not making enough money.

  • How to stop iphone from consistantly dropping call...

My 3G constantly drops calls...it is almost of no value to me. Every single call that come in to me...within 10 seconds I will hear 3 beeps in ear and then the call is dropped. Any ideas...?

Call AT&T to see if there is a local network problem
Reset phone - press both home and sleep/wake buttons until the Apple logo appears.
Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
    Replace SIM card from AT&T
    Disable 3G - Settings > General > Network > Enable 3G > OFF
Restore phone in iTunes using a backup
    Restore as a new iPhone
Get phone checked out at an Apple Store Genius Bar

  • My iphone4 keeps dropping calls

Hi my iphone 4 keeps dropping calls mid conversation and i keep breaking up making my phone almost useless at work however my 3gs used to work fine any ideas?? (p.s. any help in laymen terms please) thanks

The causes could be Carrier related... They may be doing work on the Cell Towers...
To see if it is Phone related here's a couple of things to try...
First:  Goto Settings > General > Reset.. Then Reset Network Settings and Click on Reset Network Settings...
Give it a minute or so to Perform the Reset...
If that doesn't help... Try this...
You will Not Lose Any Data...
Turn the Phone Off... ( if it isn’t already )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... (But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    Turn the Phone On...
If none of the above resolve your Issue... then take the Phone to your Local Apple Store and get them to have a look... Be sure to make an appointment first...

  • 7.0.4 dropping calls

Anyone else experiencing dropped phone calls (not facetime) since this most recent update?

I purchased an iphone5 a week ago and it dropped calls steady(case or not)I could not even recieve calls.Took it back to place of purchase, they said its your sim card,I said dont think so,I was right, two completed calls.then same old same old.Took me 4hrs of online research till I found my cure(3 days and not one droppred call) so far. First I did a factory reset(after deleting all music, photos and downloaded content such as  apps, ringtones, wallpapers etc) then a restart.Secondly I turned my time set/date/location to manual and set all three(found at settings-general-date and time) restart.Third I turned off caller id/call forward/call waitng(found at settings-phone) restart.Fourth I turned off passcode and screen lock(found at settings-general) restart.Fifth I turned all my push notifications off(found at setting-notification center) restart and so far so good.I did turn my caller id back on and so far so good.It is definetely a software issue and not a hardware problem. It seems they fixed one set of dropped calls to create a different set of dropped call issues. They seem to have created a conflict between to seperate peices of software programs, which interferes with the phone keeping signal.Well I hope this helps someone else out,and I will update once a week to let everyone know how it is going with this possible solution.

  • Sound on sleep/lock/wake

  • Ios7 drops calls and calls random people during phone conversations

Is anyone else having this problem.  My phone will mute, call random people, facetime randome people, all while I am trying to talk to the person I called.

    I'm getting this too.
Random calls even when the phone is locked and in my pocket.
Got a call from someone in my recent calls list saying I had just rung them.
My phone was in my pocket and locked, looked at it and sure enough I had rung them for 23seconds.
Another one is, if the phone drops a call, the other caller calls you back and you end the call and conversation etc, the home screen shows call failure from the previous call, when you unlock the home screen, it tries to automatically dial the number of the dropped call. Whats worse, sometimes it wont allow you to end the call until it has gone through.
    Whats going on at Apple?
Apple hardware used to be reliable and bug free, recently its just been bug laden, rushed out rubbish with no real thought.
The fact that IOS7 has only been out a few weeks and we are already at IOS7.03, shows just how badly Apple are testing their products before release.
What happened to the Apple slogan of - "It just works"???????

  • Experiencing Excessive Dropped Calls - Voicemail Delays - iPhone Freezing

I've been having problems with excessive dropped calls (on speaker, headset, handset).
Any conversations today (Sat 6/15) longer than a few (2-5) minutes have been dropped!!!!
I have had two (2) very important calls today that I have had to attempt between 9-16 times due to this...
Also... I received a missed call at exactly 6:32pm but did not get the message until 7:02pm...
    WHAT IS GOING ON????

Have you done a reset (hold sleep/wake button and home button until the Apple logo appears)? Or a restore?
If neither of these ideas correct the problem, you will need to make an appointment at the Genius Bar - http://apple.com/retail

  • Dropped calls since 2.1 update

What the heck is up with the 2.1 update? It's turned my 3G iphone into a piece of junk. I'm seriously considering breaking my contract because it's almost unusable for it's main purpose: to be a phone. Before the 2.1 update, I had some dropped calls, but not what I'd call excessive. Now, 3 out of 4 calls drop. I think the other 25% didn't drop because they were short, had they been longer they have have dropped.
There are other complaints I have too that have affected the phone since 2.1, constant lockups and resetting, crashing of safari, etc... some things got a little better. However, this is supposed to be a PHONE, so it would be nice if I didn't have to track down a landline to make a call because this POS is falling short.
You do a search on the internet and all you see are headlines about how great the 2.1 update helped call quality and fixed dropped calls. Seems like a bunch of propaganda BS to me. Are others out there experiencing the same problems?

I think I figured something out with these dropped calls. I have noticed that since the 2.1 update my phone no longer fetches e-mail when the phone is sleeping. It get it (15minute interval) when I'm doing anything with the phone but if it's sleeping it doesn't check. Often times, just a minute or two after unlocking my phone say to play a game or look something up in my contacts, it'll chime with about 2 - 3 hours worth of e-mails that it didn't fetch while it was sleeping.
A friend noticed that since the 2.1 update, every time he gets an e-mail while on the phone he drops the call. In his case, he uses exchange so his phone only fetches the e-mail when he gets a push notification. Also I did notice that many times when I drop a call right afterwards my phone chimes that an e-mail came in. So I had an idea that maybe it's dropping the calls when it checks for e-mail. Which makes sense that all of my long calls drop as it's going to check for e-mail every 15 minutes. And most of my incoming calls drop which makes sense that if the phone hasn't been checking and gets "woken up" by an incoming call it's going to check right away. So many of my incoming calls drop right in the first few seconds.
Of course the way to test that is to set my e-mail to manually check only. This really really blows, I only remember to fetch my e-mail a couple of times a day and I have so many that I don't want to deal with them so they pile up on me. However, I haven't dropped a single call since. It's been about a week now and not a single dropped call.
I wasn't able to find any references to this behaviour. Anyone else hear about this? How do we make apple aware of this??? Obviously it's a bandaid - I've gotten call reliability back at the expense of practically throwing my e-mail out the window but at least I'm not going to chuck the phone out the window now.
Well I might for internet access... Safari crashes are driving me nuts too...

  • Verizon iPhone 5 with iOS 7 dropping calls

Updated my VZW iPhone 5 to iOS 7 a few days ago. All was well (after some initial angst) until today. Now experiencing dropped calls about 2 minutes in. Phone reverts to lock screen. After calling back, no problem. Called VZW and they did the usual phone diagnostics, reset, etc, from another phone. Made a call while VZW was on the line and had no problem. Then it happened again later in the day. Anybody else? Any solutions?
BTW: The VZW person volunteered that they are getting mucho calls re iOS 7, especially battery drain and dropped calls. Said Apple is "aware and working round clock". Seems to have become a routine.
    What say y'all??

    UPDATE
The last time I had a "call drop", I noted that it was again when receiving a call with the phone asleep and that the phone returns to the Lock Screen as opposed to showing "Call Failed" in the Phone app. Then I noted that the "drop" occurred at exactly 1 minute. It struck me that that was the time I had set for "Auto-Lock", and I wondered if that was what was happening. So, I changed the "Auto-Lock" setting then returned it to 1 minute. I asked wife to call me with my phone off and there was no "Drop". Good sign, and we all know settings can get corrupted; but I'm still wanting further "successes" before declaring victory.
Thought I'd pass this along as food for thought.

  • NYC dropped calls

I drop almost every call while in a cab going uptown from Union Square to the Upper East Side, usually on 1st or 3rd Ave. I've even dropped calls going up 6th, 8th, and the West Side Highway. This has been extremely frustrating.
Apple has switched phones for me and made me get a new SIM card. I have provided ATT with the locations, times, and phone #s of the dropped calls. They have been extremely unhelpful.
I've reset the phone network, restored the phone, switched off 3G all to no avail.
I love the phone but can no longer deal with the issue. I am considering unlocking the phone with a 3rd party software and switching to Tmobile.
    Any advice?

I am an outside sales rep in NYC and I think one of the problems is that AT&T does not do a good job going from tower to tower so if you are driving you can easily drop a call when switching towers even though you have a good signal. I also find I loose my phone service with a good signal when i am standing still and wonder if maybe I am between two towers that are fighting for my signal. My phone also locks up after a dropped call and I have to wait awhile before I can call back, drives me crazy.

  • Why does my iphone keep dropping calls

Why does my iphone4 keep dropping calls??? It has been doing it for over a week. Does anyone have an answer.... AT&T says they are not having any problems and I have done everything but restore my phone.

Unfortunately, this has plagued the AT&T iPhone since the original model came out. It's most likely a dead zone causing the issue (I have the sameissue from time to time). You can also get a Micro Cell from AT&T, it's basically just an access point that allows you to pick up a cellular signal at home or work (where ever you set it up).
To eliminate any hardware issues, make sure you're on the latest build of the OS (4.3.3 for the AT&T iPhone 4) - I noticed you're still on 4.3.2. If you don't have a case, I suggest the Apple bumper or any case that covers the metal bezel on your phone, that will help as well.
Also, you can "reboot" your phone. To do this, hold down the metal sleep button on the upper-right corner of your phone until the "slide to power off" slider is displayed, then power off the phone. Wait a few minutes and turn it back on.
    Hope this helps!
