SLiM only starts twice then exits to tty1

Hi... i've installed arch yesterday following this guide https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginners'_Guide i
After that i started to set up a new desktop using openbox and slim.
Basically everything works fine... except that after exiting openbox 2 times slim won't start and i end at tty1.

When i run "systemctl start slim" on tty1 slim starts again and after exiting openbox twice i'm back on tty1.
...But when i run "slim" on tty1 slim starts and i can exit openbox as often as i want.
Any ideas ?

Running /usr/bin/slim from tty1 gives me this logfile.

Somehow the second "slim: waiting for X server to shut down" does not happen when running "systemctl start slim"

Ok, I was able to workaround parts of the bug:
I changed slim.conf and and set daemon = true (so slim runs as a daemon). Furthermore changed the slim.service file for systemd:

ExecStart=/usr/bin/slim
Now I can log in and out as often as I want. Seems to work. However, nm-applet only shows up in odd numbers of logins:
1st login --> nm-applet is shown
2nd login --> nm-applet is not shown (but running --> htop)
3rd login --> nm-applet is shown
4th login --> nm-applet is not shown (but running --> htop)
...and so on...
I search the web, it seems to be a problem with dbus and the order how the services get started. Don't know if that is true...any ideas from anyone?

Phone only rings twice

My phone line has developed a fault whereby the phone only rings twice then stops. To the person calling it sounds like the phone has been picked up but no one answers. It's not a faulty phone, I've tried 3, all the same. The line does work, I can phone out, and BT have checked it and said it's OK. I have removed the bottom face plate from the BT master socket, latest type fitted only 3 months ago, and using the test socket everything works fine, incoming calls ring untill you pick up. Presumably the BT master socket has developed a fault? Can I replace this myself (there are 2 extensions connected to it), preferably just the face plate as I don't want to interfere with the BT wiring behind it or could the fault lie elsewhere? Thank you.

Removing the faceplate, disconnects the other two sockets, so the problem is within your house, probably a fault on one of the other sockets or wiring.
There are no extra bits on the faceplate itself. Try disconnecting the wires to the other sockets, then replace the faceplate and see if it works.
If it does, then you will have to investigate your internal wiring, perhaps its damaged somewhere, or you have something else plugged into one of the other sockets.
You can reconnect the wires using a cheap IDC insertion tool which you can get from many DIY stores.

Short ringtones only ring twice when assigned to contact.

This is my third iPhone 3GS. When I assign a short ringtone to a contact such as Robot, Old Car Horn etc, the phone whether it is in standby or not will only ring twice then continue to vibrate for the remainder of the call. Phone works perfectly with longer ringtones assigned. This happens the majority of the time 80%.. So if your trying this at home dont try once or twice.
I have spoken to Apple and have done the following to resolve the issue.
Reset
Restored with and without sim inserted.
Changed Sim
I was using Vista 64bit thinking this could be the problem as my girlfriend has the same problem but now on XP Pro 32bit and restored with no luck.

You can try a quick fix. Open up Garageband and lengthen your ringtones to 30 seconds and then try again. This should solve your problem. It solved mine!

I'm afraid you'll have to get the phone serviced, dropping the phone must have damaged additional parts inside the phone.
But Apple will not service the phone anymore, opening the phone and replacing the battery should only be done by authorized personal, not by users.
You'll have to look for a 3rd party repair shop and see if they can fix this, sorry.

I have two yahoo accounts and I know as they 'improved' their servers I had periodic outages. It'd work fine on my webmail on my computer, webmail on the iPad, but not via the mail app. And it was stuff on their end. It may be a case of wait and see and you may need to eventually remove/readd the account on your iPhone.
When the issue is on their end, unfortunately there's not much for users to do beyond wait it out or find work arounds.

The normal suggestions.
Close the app,off fully. Double tap the home screen then touch and hold any of the icons on the task bar until they jiggle, then close them all off by touching the - sign.
Then reboot the pad and try the spp again. If same issue, delete the app, then reload it. ( no charge). You may just have a bad copy. If continues, write to the developer, they may need to do an update. I have an older version of the same app and it works fine.
Since yours is the ad supported version, they are maing real sure you see the ad. Is it as simple as you need to click thru the ad to get to the game?

Judging by all the posts on the forum, there seems to be an issue at Apple's end, although they have made no announcement on their status page. Unfortunately, we may have to wait until Apple is more forthcoming with information.

It's likely that your Library database has been damaged in all the crashing.
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

How to wake ipod from its funk? only shows start screen then dies

MY ipod won't turn on, charge up, or show up on my G4 laptop or in itunes. I try resetting it, but as soon as the start screen comes up it dies. If I plug it in, it lights up brightly and shows the start screen, then won't do a darn thing but show the start screen. When I disconnect it, it still has no battery no matter how long it was plugged in. I have the latest updates in itunes and osx. What's the deal?

Tap Settings / General / Reset / Reset Network Settings.
Then restart your iPod. Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPod touch. To turn iPod touch back on, press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

Don't allow a report to start twice

Hi,
I want to start a report by a job every 10 minutes.
But if the last job has not finished
a: I don't want to start the next job or
b: the new report shout stop his work without doing anything.
Is it possible to check if the rport is started twice?

Create a ztable and update this with a flag , since the ABAP memory or SAP memory
will stay till the session is active, and during every run you can check this flag from database in
PBO/AT SELECTION-SCREEN OUTPUT Else exit/STOP etc
You can also MODIFY this DB table to have only 1 record always to avoid unnecessary Memory Usage.
First time just check the flag and Clear this Flag from DB at the end of successful run again set it back with something like X
if you feel ABAP/SAP memory would work for you then you can go with that option aswell.
Hope this would serve your purpose.

Folder action starts twice

This is wicked frustrating. All I'm creating is a simple automator action. It consists of 2 items - the "Run Shell Script" and a Growl Notification. In the shell script there is a single line to call a perl script.
I saved this as a folder action, and every time I drop something into it everything runs twice. I see the growl notification twice as well as in a log file that is written by the perl script.
The really frustrating part is that it was working 100% correctly, I removed an unnecessary "Get Specified Finder Items" step in the very beginning, and now it is doing this running twice thing. It still does it after I Time Machine restored back to the copy that was originally working. I have also right clicked the first action and told it to ignore input.
I've tried deleting everything, deleting and disabling the folder action so I would be starting clean from scratch. I recreated the script and it's still running twice. A different folder action works fine.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

At one point there were 2 copies, one called {name}.app and another just {name}. I'm not sure how that happened, but I fixed it before posting. There are 2 scripts in Library/Workflows/Applications/Folder Actions now, but they are named differently and are for 2 different things. The other one works fine.
I think I may be on to something. If I remove the "run shell script" action, leaving only the growl action, save, and test, then the message is only displayed once. When I add the "run shell script" action (regardless of what the shell script actually runs - right now I'm only telling it to echo "test") I get the message twice.
Also, whenver I test within Automator it works correctly. The problem only happens when I exit out and then drop something into the folder using the finder. I also checked the folder action configuration. There are 2 folders listed, the one having the problem has a single script. If I edit the script the path to the .app is correct. This is the file that I'm editing in Automator.

Daemon starting twice

Hello everyone,
I know this is gonna sound a lil bit n00bish but then i'm a n00b.The problem is that "acpid" is starting twice while boot-up even though its enterd only once in /etc/rc.conf,i donno whats woring,is it whether the sequence in which ive put up the daemons or is it that some other program is starting it.Here's my daemon section of rc.conf file:-

it just a guess, but: maybe a daemon u start "depends" on acpid and starts it with it (like portmap is started when u start fam).
just try putting acpid behind syslon-ng on 2nd place and see what u get

I have Windows 7 Pro, 64Bit. Itunes works fine except I can't go to the ITunes store from in the software. It starts and then goes blank page. I have tried all the fixes and had a IT group working all day on this. Not fixed. Any suggestions?

Definitely sounds like an issue with your Wi-Fi network. Do any other devices on the network have similar issues? Is it an issue only with downloading apps? You can check by trying to load a website in Safari.
I would try turning your Wi-Fi router off for 1 minute, and back on again.
After doing that, disconnect and re-join the Wi-Fi network on your iPhone and try downloading an app again.
