Slow and blocky load and scroll of any page in FF

I have recently installed FF 15.0 on an XP virtual machine. It is very frustrating to use, however. The pages load in a 'blocky' sequence which is slow and repeats with every attempt to scroll. I don't have this problem with ie or any other s/w I use on the VM. I do remember seeing this with an old version of FF several years ago but can't remember what the solution was. Can anyone help, please?

hello PenguinJunk, you could try disabling hardware acceleration under firefox > options > advanced > general...

    Hi can anyone help with this issue regarding my wireless magic mouse? When im on google chrome and scrolling down the page i always have youtube running in the background but the audio cuts/spits/pops can anyone help me with this?

    The figures you mention only make sense on your intranet.  Are you still using the same wireless router.  The verizon one is somewhat limited as far as max wireless-n performace.  For one thing it only has a 2.4 radio.   I like many people who wanted wireless-n performance before they even added a wireless-n gigabit router, have my own handling my wireless-n network.

  • Blog page loads slow and scrolls wierd on windows operating systems

    I have 2 sites in my iweb with 2 different domains, I started a blog page as a new site and pulished it but when I go to a PC to read it loads really slow and when you scroll down it takes forever even after explorer shows the site as done loading. I tried a couple different PC's from different places and I get the same result. My other page , the 1st site I created, loads just fine and you can scroll through it just fine. what I am doing wrong on the second site?

    Blog pages tend to have a lot of content and this can prove too much for poor old IE. Either reduce your content or optimize your files before uploading.

  • Anyone else finding iCloud to be less than stellar?? It is slow and scrolling through my mail is absolutely painful.

    Hi everyone - I've been an Apple fan for a very long time. Had one of the original iMacs. I have found iCloud to be one of the worst products that Apple has put together and am ready to discontinue the service. Just today I could not even get to my mail from my work PC. Scrolling through email is slow and "sticky" for lack of a better word. Is anyone else experiencing this with iCloud?
    Thanks.

    Glad you found a solution on your own! Your predicament sounds like an IP address conflict: your Mac and your iPhone competing for the same IP address in your DHCP lease; your router can satisfy one, or the other, but not both at the same time. Happened to me, and I had to renew the DHCP lease from System Preferences/Network while trying to connect both devices to the Internet at the same time; no more problems since then, but it all depends on the way your router handles simultaneous requests to the Web.

  • How do I disable Firefox Faster - where subsequent pages automatically load when scrolling down the page?

    When I am on the website "PlentyofFish.com" and scroll down to the end of the page, the subsequent pages begin to load up and "stack up" which conceals the previous pages and contacts. This does not normally cause a problem with other websites, like news sites, where I can read from page to page without having to find the "page forward" button.

    This should be in the same spot:
    "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > General mini-tab > ''uncheck the box for'' "Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page"

  • I updated my firefox yesterday and am now regretting that desicion. The new version is painfully slow and scrolling is even worse. Is there any way to roll back to my previous version?? Please help

    All pages are very slow to load. Ebay is among the worst. The scolling is choppy at best, and all check boxes and expandable fields just show up blank. Desperately need to roll back the upgrade.

    I'm having a similar problem. Something I've noticed is that the page doesn't seem to advance to whatever I've clicked on without me moving the cursor. I have no idea why that would make a difference.

  • Phone and contacts app freezes, becomes slow and scrolling is jittery

    My setup:
    iPhone 4 with iOS 4.2.1 (8C148)
    I don't have 3G on my CIM (provider BASE.BE), I can only use WiFi to connect to internet.
    I sync my gmail contact (mail and calendar are turned off) through the iPhone built in Exchange account connector.
    Fetch new data is off, push is off, fetch set to manually, advanced schedule set to manual.
    I only turn WiFi on once a day, when I'm home, sync contacts and then I turn WiFi off again.
    Spotlight search is turned off.
    Device runs fine, battery life is great (much better than my iPhone 3Gs), I have about 2700 contacts, no duplicates, updates in both directions, everything working perfectly.
    Then without any warning, or even without any use of the phone, this happens:
    1) The phone and contacts app becomes unresponsive for a few seconds, remains very slow, scrolling becomes jittery or freezes.  When the symptom occurs both apps have this issue.  I assume because both use contacts.  Both apps don't crash, they just get very slow as if they were trying to do something heavy. This does not happen with any particular event, like getting a call or text message. This can happen even at night without any missed calls or text messages send or received.  The symptom does not affect any other app.  For example when I open the iPod app, scrolling though the long list of music is fast, without any freezing or jittery behavior, while the Phone and Contacts app is still very slow.  The problem does not go away by itself.  Hard rebooting the phone does not help.  I assume the problem is not related to any purchased apps because this can happen when none of them are running.
    2) The phone gets really hot.
    3) The battery drains very fast.  I can go from 100% to 0% in under 30 minutes.
    4) CPU usage (use System App to measure) goes from < 20% to >75% or more.
    I notice the symptom mostly when in the 1) phone app, or 2) I feel the phone heat up or 3) in the morning when the phone battery is almost empty when it was full the night before.
    I can fix the problem by 1) turning on WiFi, opening the contacts app.  Then I see the circular indicator in the top left hand corner turning round.  This takes just a few seconds, to sync 1 or 2 contacts en when the indicator disappears, the problem is gone.  Scrolling is fast again.  Problem fixed.  It can take a day or two and the problem comes back.  Do sync trick again and problem gone again, and so on...
    I can also fix the issue by 2) deleting my gmail exchange account, putting it back and syncing everything back.  But like with solution 1) the problem will just returns after a few days.
    I have even tried a full factory reset and manually putting all my apps back.  But again, when I import my gmail contacts, wait a few days and problem returns.
    I've been having this issue for a few months now and have done quit some research on the subject.  I'm pretty sure I also had the issue on iOS 4.1 and possibly also 4.0.  I did not have the issue in iOS3.  I had the same problem on my iPhone 3Gs which Apple replaced.  I thought the battery was dying.  Now I bought an iPhone 4, same problem.
    I purchased many system monitor apps to find out what process was causing the problem.  The problem is that none of the apps I found report CPU or memory consumption per individual process.  So I only know CPU goes from below 20 to 75% and more, but I can't pinpoint which app or process is doing the extra consumption.  But it has to be one the standard built in iOS processes.  I can see when what process started.  And when the issue happens, I can hard reset and don't launch anything, and the problem is still there.
    When iPhone apps crash and you connect your phone via iTunes the crash reports are put on your computer.  I found these logs but because the contact and phone app don't crash I have found nothing interesting there.
    I have not found a way to trigger the problem on purpose.  I tried adding, changing deleting contact on my iPhone, none of these actions trigger the issue.  The problem just appears at random.
    I have also not found a way NOT to have the issue.  I've tried not changing any contacts for a few days, but the problem still creeps up.
    I have read dozens of threads on the internet and only this one comes close:

    I solved this problem by restoring my phone to factory setting. I dint find any solution to this problem. Now instead of using "Google Sync" i use iTunes contact sync which does the same thing.
    The key is not to use "Google Sync" when you restore your iPhone. Follow these steps:
    1. Take back up of everything. Sync your contacts so your gmail has latest contacts.
    2. Restore your iPhone. And set it as new iPhone instead of reloading everything from previous backup.
    3. Sync everything using iTunes.
    4. For contacts go to Info -> Sync Contact with -> you can set up gmail here and it will load all gmail contacts to your iPhone.
    My iPhone is working perfectly after this. I hope it works on your too.

  • Encoding is crazy slow and using hardly any CPU power

    I"m not sure what I'm doing wrong.  I have an animation I'm creating from Google SketchUp.  I've generated a lot of .jpg's to compile into an animation (about 9 minutes of animation at 30 fps).  I'm exporting them to h.264 format at something like 1080x720 resolution or so and it's been encoding for 10 hours now with another estimated 6 hours to go.  That seems ridiculously slow for 9 minutes of animations.
    I'd chalk it up to just being a long process (I don't use Premiere much) but it seems excesive and I have a very high end computer (intel 980x processor and a good workstation nvidia graphics card along with 18 gigs of RAM.  It's using something like 10 gigs of RAM but it's not even touching the CPU.  Does that make any sense?  Is there some setting I'm missing somewhere?

  • Time Machine Restore slow and does give any staus info.

    I had issues with my HD and it was unrepairable via Disk Utility and would not unmount via OSX Install dis >utilities>disk utilities>repair, etc.
    I decided to to do a complete restore with time machine. The size of the restore is around 100gb. I am doing so through an external drive and usb connection.
    Everything seemed to be going well, it took a while for the estimate of file size required to finish but then it began the restore process. Now 12 hours later, there is no status update (% completed, estimated time left, etc.) The status bar still seems to be active though (status bar is still animating and is full). I can still access some options in the OSX installer if I need to quit the process but do not want to quit the restore if it is still restoring.
    Is this normal? Any advice?

    Yeah, it sure sounds like it. There's a chance it will complete if you re-start. Note what the last message was, so you can watch for it next time.
    If you monitor with the log, you'll see it runs in spurts of activity, then no messages for a few seconds or several minutes. When it gets to the message you noted, give it an extra long time, but if it really seems hung again, we'll go to Plan B.
    That's doing an Erase and Install, then Migration from your TM backups. Full instructions for this are in the *Erase, Install, & Migrate* section of the Glenn Carter - Restoring Your Entire System / Time Machine post at the top of this forum.
    It seems to be working well now. I restarted it and tried to repair the disk again through Disk utility with OSX install disc. That worked so I then when through the restall process again. It is up and runnning now. Took about 2 hours to erase, restore and reboot. Thanks... I probably would have waited another 10 hours or so before restarting because I had seen so many others with rather long restore times.
    Thanks again.

  • Problems with numbers, slow and scroll up and down with hik-ups?

    imac with lion and have problems with numbers, slowly although i have an i7 8gb 2 TB Imac 27inch. what seems to be the problem?
    thanks

    The problem is that iWork apps were coded with feets not with brains.
    We just may hope that the next upgrade will be coded a better way.

  • Viewing a video (YouTube, etc.) disables the mouse scroll wheel - switch to Opera and scroll on a page, return to FF and wheel is reenabled.

    After viewing a video (usually YouTube, but not exclusively; either directly, or embedded in a web page), the mouse scroll wheel will become disabled. If I then switch over to Opera and use the scroll wheel on any open page, the scroll wheel will be re-enabled upon return to FireFox.

    Important questions:
    What ActiveX control are you using?
    I'm using the PDF activex control to display a PDF on the front panel of my VI.
    What version of LabVIEW are you using?
     I'm using LabVIEW 7.1
    What "control pages" are you talking about?
    The pages of the PDF: it has several pages. If a mouse is held over it the user can scroll using the scroll wheel, or if they right click they can access the Adobe menu.
    It's these that I'd like to inhibit them doing.
    Thanks

  • Issue with div "s4-workspace" and scroll bar

    Hi,
    I have a standard publishing site, I just added an horizontal menu (the publishing site doesn't have it) but I'm experiencing a strange behavior:
    With my custom menu the div "s4-workspace" shifts down by the height of the menu and I cannot see the end part of the page content.
    I noticed this because I was looking at the workspace right scroll bar and I could not see the end.
    I copied my horizontal menu from the Team Site, where the menu is scrolling inside the workspace, but I want to keep it fix under the ribbon.
    I guess that it's a div displacement problem, but I could not find anything to fix it. I opened the nigthandday.css and the core4.css looking for some CSS style property, but nothing...
    This is what it looks like:
    <!-- Ribbon end -->
    <div>
    <!-- my custom menu -->
    </div>
    <div id="s4-workspace">
    Any help?
    Thank you,
    Nicola.

    If you look at the page, you will notice that the whole page doesn't scroll by default.  Only the S4-workspace and below scrolls.  This is done through the use of a Javascript.  Your problem is that you have inserted something between the
    div's at the top of the page and the S4-workspace div.  The javascript isn't aware of that and so it's not factoring in that height when it calculates how to scroll the page.  So you can never reach the bottom.
    To fix it you need to either remove the factors that cause the partial page scrolling and scroll the whole page or insert your menu into either the top of the s4-workspace div or one of the other existing div's at the top of the page.  Take a look at
    the following article for a more indepth explanation.
