Slow-Motion/Fast-Motion.

Just wondering if there is a way to gradually slow down a clip from keyframe to keyframe, as in add a gradual slow motion from one point to another not just an immediate slow down and that being the same speed between the two points.
Also is there a way to do this for fast-motion as opposed to slow-motion?

If you are referring to the Time Remap filter (...thanks Ian...) you can see the result only in the canvas: make sure you +always render+ the clip after applying or changing parameters, in order to see the final quality (without rendering, you can get very unusual results... even with RT Unlimited).

  • Slow motion / fast motion in Premiere Elements 13

I read that in Premiere Elements 13 fast motion (and I think also slow motion) ist removed. Is that correct. And if yes: Is there any workaround available?

    Thanks for the reply.
Great information. If you have been using Ctrl+R, that is the keyboard shortcut that brings up the Time Stretch dialog.
Time Stretch (use of the Ctrl+R) has not been removed from Premiere Elements 13 Expert workspace.
Like Premiere Elements 11, Time Stretch is found in the Expert workspace and not in the Quick workspace.
When you use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+R, I get Time Stretch dialog from where I can create the slow or fast motion effect in the selected clip.
The following relates to Premiere Elements Timelapse Capture (Stop Motion) which has been removed from
Premiere Elements 13 as a specific feature that you see in Premiere Elements 11 and 12.
Adobe Premiere Elements 11 * Capture stop-motion and time-lapse video
Please let me know if you are OK with the above information.
    Thank you.

  • Adding Effects like slow motion, fast motion etc...

On the old imovie you could add animations, slow motion/fast motion, and other graphics to clips. How do you do the same with imove 08 most important the slow motion feature?

I'm currently using iMovie 08 and I would switch to iMovie 06 but when I try to install it but the message "Please install iLife ’08 before installing iMovie HD 6" pops up. My computer went through a hard drive crash recently and when they replaced it I thought they popped in iLife '08 (hence being stuck with iMovie 08) but i dunno... suggestions?

  • Slow motion/fast motion effect

    Hi guys
I'm making my first music video for a song I made. It'll be my first time learning and using a video production software, and I'm not sure if iMovie will be able to handle these type of effects or if I should invest in Final Cut Pro X instead.
Basically I want this type: https://youtu.be/BYbJmQj5VkE?t=50s
Where I can speed up the pace of the video faster than it's normal speed. Is iMovie capable of doing this? Would I also be able to do the opposite whereas I could slow down a video less than it's normal speed? slow motion I'm sure it's called.
Please let me know, Thank You.

iMovie can speed up or slow-down video, read the Manual:
    http://help.apple.com/imovie/mac/10.0.6/?lang=en#/mov6c442b2eb
For sure, you can not adjust precisely as you can do in FCPX ...

    High ambitiions, but: why not?
You do know, that the effect you linked to, asks for a special way how you record teh scene?
The clip is speed-up, but singer is lip-sync - that is not done by software/post-production!
While recording, you need a slowed-down version of your music, and the singer has to 'sing' to THAT sloooow version - which looks (and sounds) incredible silly on set
Then, in the edit-room, the video gets accelerated to 'normal', which makes the background moving faster........
Here comes FCPX into the game: there you just drag'n-squeeze the re-timed clips to make it fit to music - done.
iMovie is limited to a few setting.
Hint: Make some tests in the backyard, before you try the Big Thing!
    fingers-crossed, happy movie making!

  • Slow Motion/ Fast Motion Audio?

can you slow down a clip without giving the audio the monster effect, and vice versa with fast??
    Message was edited by: M9GL

One possible way would be to de-link (Shift-L) the audio from the video, and apply then select the video by itself and apply the speed changes. Naturally the audio will no longer be in sync with your video for the obvious reasons. Oh, don't forget to turn linking back on Shift-L as it effects all clips.
    Happy editing

  • Plug-In for slow motion/fast motion effects?

The fact that iMovie '08 does not give us the ability to slow down, speed up, or rewind video kinda stinks. I know that iMovie has it, now, but I don't want to spend the money just for those effects.
Is there a simple plug-in that makes this possible in iMovie '08?
*I want only safe downloads. I will only consider downloading it if you have done it first and there were no viruses or anything.

no plug-ins for iM08/09 .. Apple doesn't offer an official API for that..
perhaps, you like the workflow, described on my site, using a free 3rd party tool... :

  • How to best achieve slow motion and fast motion

Hi - I am new to the forum and a basic user of Premiere Pro CS5. I am working on a project shot at 24 fps, and would like to do slow and fast motion.
From what i understand there are 2-3 different ways to do this in Premiere - choosing speed/duration of the clip from timeline, or choosing time remapping form effects panel ot using rate stretch tool. Wondering how do these compare and which is better - any pointers for this will be great help. Also is slow motion and fast motion better done in After Effects than Premiere. Or any recommended plugins that would work on cs5 and cs5.5. Thanks.

The main difference between using time-remapping and just using time-stretching is that time-remapping allows you to change the speed quite flexibly at different times in the same clip, whereas stretching just changes the rate for the whole clip.
    See this page:
"Change speed and duration for one or more clips"
    > Also is slow motion and fast motion better done in After Effects than Premiere.
After Effects has far more control, especially with regard to how new image information is created between the original frames when you change speed and require frame interpolation (frame blending). Pixel Motion and Timewarp use a very advanced motion vector method (based on the Foundry's Kronos software) for doing this.
    See "Time-stretching and time-remapping".

  • Slow/fast motion?

I am a super beginner with imovie but im getting pretty good at it and im almost done with my movie but all i have left to do is make something in slowmotion and something in fast motion. does any one know how to do that and can explain 2 me how?

That is not possible within iMovie '08. Here is one way of doing it:
    - Select just the section of the video you want to slow down, and export it as a Quicktime movie.
    - Download and install iMovie '06 from Apple. It's a free download for iMovie '08 owners.
    - Create a new project, import the clip, add it to the timeline.
    - Find the slow motion effect, adjust the speed of your clip.
    - Export result back out.
    - Import edited clip back into iMovie '08.
    - Splice it into your iMovie '08 project.
There will be some quality loss as you will go through some format conversions along the way.

  • Fast Motion unsmooth shots ; PLEASE HELP

as when shots are in slow motion...fast motion creates shaky ghostiness too with the footage (i wonder how technologically incorrect that term is).
how do i reduce/fix this eye-piercing problem when i increase speed of my footage.
    please help.
    deadline imminent.

  • FAST MOTION?  Ya know, like Charlie Chaplin-esque?

So I'm shooting some video off a Sony HD handycam, it shoots 1080 at 60, normal speeds, good quality, it's nice. It already does the slow-mo golf thing on its own, but the reverse of that, the fast-motion, is not an option! If I wanted to shoot fast-motion a la Charlie Chaplin or something like that, but even faster, can I do some sort of an effect in iMovie to make that happen from normal speed footage?
Thank you for your expert advice.

    iM08 has no slowmo/faster feature.. iM09 has.
for iM08 users, try this free workaround, described on my site.. :

  • Adobe premiere cs6 - wave in fast motion

i have to cut 1min of 30m TV broadcast
in original ts clip (25frames), the fast motion is very smooth
i tried to cut and export into h.264 format, the fast motion shows full of  wave
    even i tried to set
    higher bit rate
    2 passes
    possible to cut without re-rendering?
    Thanks a lot.

i tried to open the exported video (h.264) in premiere CS6, it is OK
But when playing original clip (ts) and exported video (h.264) by media player at the same computer, the exported video is full of wave.
is it a problem with codec, player....?
how should i do to best keep the original quality?  Thanks.

  • Importing HDV into iMovie, playback turns into fast motion

    Everything was going fine..
connecting, recognise the jvc ji hd100, importing the hdv 720p 50/25 clips,
but then when playback, i found out the clips imported was in fast motion..
tried most combinations i can possibly think of,
    also changing the cam settings,
    didn't work out tho.
    stil trying hard..
    anyone? many thanks!

Before importing JVC HDV 720p you must select HDV 720p in the 'Create new project' dialogue box:
..otherwise it will play at double-speed!
(..That's because the JVC version of HDV, i.e; 720p, uses single "progressive" - i.e; entire - frames, instead of two interlaced fields per frame.
The fast playback is caused by iMovie playing two frames one after the other as if they were fields. If you choose 720p before importing, all should be well..)

  • Animation video shows lines when it is fast motion

    Hi all
I have just got my Apple Tv 2nd gen and updated it last night.
I am starting to convert my DVD's to run on the Apple TV.
I am using  software called DVD-Ripper which I purchased of the Mac App Store.
Now I have converted 5 films and all are working great, but when I started to convert my futurama dvd's when there is any fast motion in the video I get lines.
    Like this:
This is a link to the software I am using
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/dvd-ripper/id423292987?mt=12
When I select my options in the settings I and selecting halfway between poor and best settings and the sound is at the highest setting.. So a dvd film on this setting comes out at just under 1.5gig. the only setting I am leaving as standard is the frame rate which is at 24.
    All DVD's are UK PAL
    Where am I going wrong?

  • Nforce fast motion problem

when ever I boot up everything is in fast motion. By fast motion is minutes are seconds and hours are minutes... that's how fast the system is going, this was on the old forum so I know others have had this problem with this board. Anyone remember the fix? I would go back on bios but I dun't think that 2.4 supports the 2200+

  • Compressor Issues, fast motion looks terrible.

    Hello,
I require the collective wisdom of this community please!
I'm editing a project for a company that shoots dance competitions.
I've edited a single show, and now I'm looking to send this seq. to Compressor 3, and find an appropriate way to compress said project. This video a little over 3 hours, and is very fast motion.
Previously I have exported the sequence as a self-contained and referenced quicktime movie, and each export gave my footage a pixelated (interlaced?) look. It looks terrible.
I should state that this footage was shot with a Canon XHA1, but is not being distributed in its original HD format.
When I view the sequence in FCP6, it looks great, then I started attempting to use Compressor 3, I wanted to use the compression mode DVD Best, but my project is over 150 min. (the apparent maximum compression time, I may be wrong).
I tried this once, and it took out all of my motion titles, then I tried again, and it took out my audio.
Can anyone help me shed some light on how to get this project exported/compressed so the fast motion won't look like trash, and I can get it into DVDSP in an acceptable format?
Thanks so much. A thousand internets to you.

    What are your sequence settings?
