SM58 - "Function module executed"

Scenario: XI --> R3
In SM58 I have some messages with status "Function module executed"
What does this mean? Are the IDocs received succesfully in the target system?

There is a very good chance that the IDOC has indeed reached the target system...
Infact we had faced situation like this were we have entires in SM58 in XI (with the same status as what you have)....and the idoc is there in target...
To confirm that the idoc is there...check the TID in SM58 and make sure there is an IDoc with the same TID....i.e. if you have huge number of IDocs..if you have only very few ..you can easily verify by looking at content in WE02...
and then in SM58...choose the menu option Edit->Delete Entry

1. cu_read_rgdir ---> from this u will get the country key.
2. cd_read_last -
> from this fm u will identify the seqnr for the latest record and finally for the payroll result

RFC Function module executing in tasks error

Hi Gurus,
I have a rfc enabled function module that I am executing in tasks . The first two passes went correct but the third pass gave the shortdump: Communication failure.
What can be done to correct this .
A RAISE statement in the program "SAPLYQM_PLANT_REL" raised the exception
condition "COMMUNICATION_FAILURE".
Since the exception was not intercepted by a superior
program, processing was terminated.

the error COMMUNICATION FAILURE occurs if a server is unavailable for processing of the task or possibly there is no free processes available.

Tracing Form and Function modules using SE30

Hi,
I want to trace only the Forms and function modules that are executed by a program using SE30. I have tried setting the variants in different ways but it still gives lot of junk information which i dont need. How can I set up the variant so that it only traces Forms and function modules executed by a program?

First of all create a vraian tin SE30. While creating the variant, in th Tab 'Duratn/Type' select the radio buton 'NONE'. Now execute yur program and then analyse.Select 'GROUP HIT LIST' Icon which gives Function Modules,Subroutines etc.

Function module not executing in background due to Transactional RFC error in SM58

Hi Team,
I am executing a report which calls a function module in background.This in turn creates a LUW which should eventually get cleared once the processing is completed through commit statement.
However LUW is going for an error whenever it gets executed through commit statement.
The error message in SM58 is
Error msg : Conversation
<init> not found / CPIC-CALL: 'ThSA PCMRCV' : cmRc=19 thRc=
However when I try to excecute the function module in foreground, it works correctly as expected.
Please note that the same report is being used for various clients and the function module is working fine in all others.Hence, I am expecting that thers is no issue with the code.
Is there some settings which we are missing here.
Please provide me your valuable inputs.

Error in debugging tRFC Function module (in background task) in SM58

I am trying to debug this statement:

I have followed these steps:
When you debug a program that calls function modules using the IN BACKGROUND TASK addition, they are processed in a background work process (additional internal session). If you set the In background task: Do not process option, the system collects the function calls, but does not start the background work process. The Debugger assigns a transaction ID, which identifies the background work process uniquely. You can now start the Debugger for the background work process using transaction SM58. You can select the function module concerned here, and then execute it via the Edit menu.
but still i cant find any entry in SM58.
Can anybody help me out in this?

HI,
When the COMMIT WORK statement is executed, the function modules registered for the current SAP-LUW are started in the order in which they were registered. ROLLBACK WORK deletes all previous registrations for the current SAP-LUW.
If the specified destination is not available when COMMIT WORK is executed, an executable program called RSARFCSE is started in background processing. By default, this tries to start the function modules registered for a SAP-LUW in their destination every 15 minutes and up to 30 times. These parameters can be changed in the transaction SM59. If the destination does not become available within the defined time, it is recorded in the database table ARFCSDATA as the entry "CPICERR". The entry in the database table ARFCSSTATE is deleted after a standard period of eight days

Error executing custom function module

There is no problem with the function module.

first of all you do not set the import values for your table correct. You should do something similar like this:

Did you debug your java class? You should check at which point your java class throws the error.

How can I find out the web interface a module function is executed from?

Hello all,
I was wondering if anybody knows how would be possible de determine the web interface a function is being launched from, within the function.
I've got this function that is used for a exit variable that updates the variable value depending on another variable in a web interface. The thing is that this very same function and variable will be used in many web interfaces and the "source" variable will be different for each mask.
So, for example, mask 1 will have variable 1 as a selector variable and variable X will be updated by it. Then I also have variable 2 in mask 2 as a selector variable and variable X will be updated by it as well.
I want to develop a code, within the function module, that depending on the web interface that is calling it, it will use a source the correct variable and for this I need to know which web interface is calling the function.
I hope to have been able to explain myself clearly. It's a purely technical question.

This is weird: I wrote that document a few weeks ago, it is theorically published on SDN but this is not possible to find it by using the research tool... Maybe because it applies only to BPS in 3.5. I did not have enough time to migrate that solution to BI-IP 7.0.

please try the following.
1. Create a contract manually in the system
2. Use BAPI_RE_CN_GET_DETAIL to show how the fields and structures are filled.
3. Check and change the parameters for BAPI_RE_CN_CREATE accordingly.

To overcome Authorization error while executing a Function module

Hello Friends,
In my custom workflow , I need to execute a validation function module ( SAP standard ) in a dialog step - Approval step.
But the issue is approvers will not have authorization to the FM ( They have minimum authorization - Just to approver the custom workflow ) .
So , I need to know is ther a option to execute the FM using another user ID ( a BATCH user ID ) .

make the validation task before the dialogue step. a general task will run in background from user WF-BATCH and that wont need to authorization issue... after completion of this validation you can go for the dialogue step i.e the approval step..

Short Dump while executing function module "IDOC_INPUT"

Dear Friends,
We are trying to execute the function module "IODC_INPUT" and getting a short dump.
Basically the scnario is that we are trying to change an IDOC through transaction WE19 and then we execute the same by pressing tab "STANDARD INBOUND".
But as soon as we press this button we get the short dump. whereas if I process the IDOC by pressing tab "Inbound Function Module" , there is no error and we are able to process the idoc successfully.
Request you to please guide why this problem is there and what is the resolution for the same.

Thanks a lot for quick response.
We are getting the dump with error ""Type "IDOC_DATA_CRYPTION" is unknown"". We just pressed the button STANDARD INBOUND and it gave us the error.
Even when I execute this FM stand alone then just after pressing F8, it gives me Dump instead of the selction screen of the Function module.
I tried running this FM on my IDES system and there I can see the selction screen and there is no dump.
To me it seems that I need to do some settings so that this fm can be executed sucessfully.

Hi Diego,
the warning icon indicates that you're using a function module that has not been externally released. If the corresponding function module has been defined by SAP, its interface might be changed in an incompatible way within one of the next releases, e.g. removing / renaming a parameter or structure field. Stability is only guaranteed for BAPIs or external released function modules.
From the point of view of the model import it does not make any difference. If import does not work, there seems to be some other problem. Maybe the function module has not been activated in the R/3 system. Or check the log file or the import log page which will be the last page of the import wizard.
You might want to import some other none external released function module in order to verify that model import of these kind of function module works.

Call Transaction not executing in Function Module

I am sending an IDoc from non SAP system to SAP system,IDoc calls(Inbound Process Code) Function Module in which i wrote BDC code.i found that it is not calling Call Transaction but when i test the same IDoc from WE19 it executes perfectly and update data in database.
And for this communication i dont have any other option then BDC.
Suggest me what to do

RFC CALL canu00B4t execute Functions module ??

I have a problem with a Function module. The function module should open an link (it´s a Link of a Webdynpro Application).
I have the following constellation.
Bex Analyzer execute a RFC Call to open/execute the Function module. The Function module should open a URL (Webdynpro Application), but it doesn´t work.
I don´t know why. The Connection of the RFC Call is ok. I have tested the RFC with any Object´s and it works (He "answered").
What ist wrong in the Function Module, why can´t the FM open the URL??!

Hi, I have a similar situation. Within VBA I am calling the RFC 'RFC_CALCULATE_TAXES_DOC'. This RFC is used to communicate with external tax software like Taxware; it gets applicable tax rates, amounts, etc. based on tax jurisdiction code and other data. The RFC is remote-enabled (has to be to talk to Taxware).
This RFC requires an RFC Destination in order to work. Within VBA, I have not been able to figure out the syntax required to enter the Destination name. I saw Shreeram's post saying to use CALL FUNCTION 'PRGN_GENER_EXECUTE_URL' DESTINATION <RFC Destination Name>. However, this looks like ABAP syntax and not VBA syntax.
Does anybody know if this is possible within VBA? Sounds like it's not but wanted to double-check.
