Small Window Program

I want to write a small program for window user.
The program allow user to search specific computer in the local network.
The result screen show out the ip address information and there are some buttons to perform different actions.
Is that I use Java a good approch?
What techniques or direction should I go for doing this in Java?
Or any other suggestions?
Thanks a lot.

In the local network, there are a lot of computers
for example, A, B, C, D, E.
B and C are some specific computers.
A, D, E are others computers.
User do not know which one they want.
My program helps to filter B and C out of A, B, C, D, E.
So I must create that program for user.
But I wonder whether java is good in doing this kind of program.

I partitioned a small drive for a windows program, and now the computer only wants to boot to Windows.  How do I get back to Mac so I can have a choice of drives?

That doesn't sound good. It sounds like the power outage might have corrupted the partition for OS X. I would suggest booting from the Install DVD that came with your Mac while holding down the C key. Once you have selected the language start up Disk Utility from the pull down menu and repair the disk. Once you have done that then repair permissions also.

  • Getting BHO from what looks like a program by eboom that shows up as a small window on RH bottom side. Also webpages being redirected automatically.

I get a small window on bottom RH side of my screen with "suggested sites" Usually the very site I am on. I right click on this window and it does not act alike a normal window, cannot close it or view its source. It does state that Eboom is providing suggestions.
Also something, i think this malware or BHO is trying to redirect my webpage. I have set up Firefox to not redirect. That helps a little. Also opening links in new tab seems to help.
I reviewed my add-ons and extensions and nothing unusual. I have tried to look for something in history and I have found very little. I have run multiple malware, spyware, adware, and virus Scans. Used Malwarebyte, SuperAntispyware, Norton, and Exterminator from PC Pitstop, all to no help. I have looked up this information and all I find is an issue with a toolbar on IE. I do not get a toolbar.
These links are some of the attempted redirects.

  • I need to use a Windows program

First time Macbook owner and I have been using Microsft Windows Picture viewer to crop and adjust my photos for the last 8+ years.  Its gonna take sometime to get use to iPhoto as it is more complex than what I am use to working with.  Is there anyway to get this small program onto my Mac without doing Boot Camp and buying a Windows program?  Is it possible to use a thumb drive?  Any help would be great.  I do like iPhoto but its gonna take me months to work at the same speed that I am able to crop and adjust with Windows.  Perhaps another app or Mac program thats simple and easy to use.  Thank you all for the help.

You have to have Windows installed to run a  "PC" program.
iPhoto, believe it or not, is easy to use. Like anything else, hands on use is necessary. Although iPhoto has many features, one dies not need to understand or use them all.

When I open iTunes on my Macbook Pro, I am now getting a small window that says "Checking iTunes Library" with a pinwheel. This goes on for 5-10 minutes before I am able to access iTunes. Help! How do I fix this?

I have the same problem. It is only with tv shows and only with programs I have downloaded after the software update.
Apple support sent me the above link too....but it doesn't solve the problem...my computer is authorized and the content is in my library and will play on my Mac air, but it will not sync the tv shows, it keeps saying my computer isn't authorized for it.
No answers here, but you are definitely not alone with this issue.

  • Small windows-

By default some programs, like xpdf, xine, gnuplot plots... have really small windows. I've tried it under openbox and xfce.
    How can I change this?

    Hi,
Have you tried to put it the way you want it to come up next time? Close it... restart it... should come back the way you left it. A little other trick too, in *file menu* click *new window*... resize that one with the bottom right corner tab. Close it... the red button upper left... now open another 2nd window. It should be the size you set for the 2nd window again. If you close the 1st window, it should come back to that even after a shut-off and restart of the computer. And again, the 2nd window will be the size you set for the 2nd window before. I have this for 3 windows on mine, #2 & #3 are split side-to-side so I can mess in either without moving them or bouncing back and forth... nice for a number of things... #1 is full screen start-up one.
Mine remembers where I last left it and I am the only one using this computer, if my G-Son uses it, he has his own sign-on and does his own thing there, leaving my setting alone.
    Try it, Enjoy

  • Small windows appear and disappear quickly

    Hello,
Too often when I'm using my MBP, small windows (dialog boxes) appear and disappear very quickly. I don't know what application generated them, and they usually disappear before I get a chance to read them. Is there a way for me to see what program generated these windows and what where they about? I assume it should be in one of the logs in Console, but I don't know which one.
If it helps at all, the programs I most oten use are iTerm2, Chrome, and MacVim. Googling around didn't show any specific issues regarding these apps.
Any help would be much appreciated.

That sounds like Growl. Have a look here for how to manage it

Also, if the notifications are showing incoming emails, look in Mail.apps > Preferences.

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • Why does CS6 window spontaneously collapse to a small window which cannot be resized?

I run Dreamweaver on both Mac and PC, mostly the PC. This problem has just been experienced on the PC (Windows 7 running on a Mac using Parallels). This phenomenon occurs when trying to move or resize the DW window. It has also occurred when trying to open a webpage by double clicking on it. The smaller window that results cannot be resized so I have to quit the program and restart it. When restarted it is still a small window but this version (which looks a bit different, too) can be resized. I have searched the web for discussions about this but to no avail.

    I've never encountered this.
    Some things to try:
Try changing your Work Space (upper right corner of interface).
    Deleting Corrupted Cache in DW

If that doesn't help, try Restore Preferences

  • What are the methods available for passing data between Labview 6.0 VI and another custom windows program

The big picture is that I'm trying to use labview to interface to a DSP board.
I already have a small windows application "app" which communicates with the dsp. Now I want Labview to grab data from the "app" and plot/analyze ... etc.
I'm a novice at this 'interprocess communication stuff", what can I use to pass data back and forth between between the "app" and LV?
    use ActiveX, DMA, streams, etc.?
In a crude sense I could just have the "app" write the data to a file and then have LV read the file. (can two applications read the file at the same time?), but
this seems very slow and clumsy. I'd rather have a RAM based FIFO which both could access.
    Thanks!

It depends on what 'interprocess communication' your "app" program has available.
I regulary use DDE to control a PLL App which controls our PLL via the LPT Port. This is only a write process, but works very easily. The read is equaly easy. You need to know the various "keywords" like service, topic and instruction which the "app" will respond to.
Generaly I found ActieX to be more extensive, meaning its probably going to take longer and more steps to achive similar simple results.
The file does not seem to be the best way.
    Hope that helps a bit.

  • IPhone 6Plus on every reboot after putting in my password it opens to a small window asking for apple id password

everything works on phone and wow it's big compared to my iPhone 5s. went with space grey since i have had 3 white phones in a row. restored via iCloud backup. updated iTunes as i have about 3,000 songs. 250 bought the rest ripped to AAC from my cc's....what a pain but switched from my windows desktop to this new rMBP late 2013 for xmas and iTunes is slightly different on a mac than windows and where everything is stored on drive.
anyhow problem is every time i reboot after putting in my password and arriving at whatever page i left at i get a very small window asking for my Apple id password. Now the top half is pre filled in with the email address i use for iCloud/itunes/apple/etc.
i did see in settings there is a checkmark i cannot remove that says for apple password "ask immediately" there are no other choices. it can't be unchecked by any method i found.
    any help appreciated.

In case anyone else gets this I hit cancel once and it has never come back.

Those are not viruses. You have probably installed some malware:

An excellent link to read is Tom Reed's Mac Malware Guide.
Also, visit The XLab FAQs and read Detecting and avoiding malware and spyware.
    See these Apple articles:

OS X Lion- Protect your Mac from malware
OS X Mountain Lion- Protect your Mac from malware

If you require anti-virus protection Thomas Reed recommends using Dr.Web Light from the App Store. It's free, and since it's from the App Store, it won't destabilize the system. If you prefer one of the better known commercial products, then Thomas recommends using Sophos.(Thank you to Thomas Reed for these recommendations.) If you already use Sophos, then be aware of this if you are using Mavericks: OS X Mavericks- Sophos Anti-Virus on-access scanner versions 8.0 - 9.1 may cause unexpected restarts
From user Joe Bailey comes this equally useful advice:
    The facts are:
    1. There is no anti-malware software that can detect 100% of the malware out there.
    2. There is no anti-malware that can detect anything targeting the Mac because there
is no Mac malware in the wild, and therefore, no "signatures" to detect.
    3. The very best way to prevent the most attacks is for you as the user to be aware that
the most successful malware attacks rely on very sophisticated social engineering
techniques preying on human avarice, ****, and fear.
    4. Internet popups saying the FBI, NSA, Microsoft, your ISP has detected malware on
your computer is intended to entice you to install their malware thinking it is a
        protection against malware.
    5. Some of the anti-malware products on the market are worse than the malware
from which they purport to protect you.
    6. Be cautious where you go on the internet.
    7. Only download anything from sites you know are safe.
    8. Avoid links you receive in email, always be suspicious even if you get something
you think is from a friend, but you were not expecting.
    9. If there is any question in your mind, then assume it is malware.

I see a small window displaying "Are you sure you want to shut down your computer now". How do I stop appearing this window

Is this after you've chosen to Shutdown from the Menu, or just on it's own?
You can press the esc key to cancel, or Enter key to shutdown.
Check your System Preferences>Energy Saver>Schedule & see if it's set to shutdown at a certain time.

  • Parallels: transferring info from a Windows program to a Mac program

I've been devoted to a Mac for a few years now, but I recently had to switch back to Windows because of its far superior voice recognition software. (I was recently disabled, and now rely on voice recognition to type.)
If I were to buy a new Mac and use my Dragon NaturallySpeaking professional software (the Windows voice recognition program) via Parallels, does anyone know if I would be able to use that to type in a Macintosh program? I understand that I could stay within the virtual Windows platform or do separate tasks on the Mac platform, but I'm not sure if I would be able to transfer the information gathered by the Windows program into a Mac program.
If I'm able to do this, it would mean I could finally switch back to a Mac. Thanks in advance!
