SmartLists in Planning 9.3 using EPMA (aka BPMA)

I have successfully created a Planning app using EPMA/BPMA, loaded the dimensions and deployed the application
I have since tried to implement a couple SmartLists and the deploy fails to add them
1) I created 2 smartlist dimensions in the Master View as dimensions (type: SmartList)
2) I added them to the Planning App view
3) I created 2 Account dim members as datatype Smartlist, referencing their corresponding SmartList dimensions
4) I gave each SmartList member a Label
When I go to deploy, it fails to add the SmartList members. The error in the logs reads:
"Enumeration <SmartList Name> is not found in Planning
then a bunch of java code error messages...
Rejecting member <MemberName>"
any ideas?

No sure if this is still an issue, but a good way to see what is required in your ADS file with regards to smartlist, is the create & initialise the sample application using classic planning, then create a small smartlist for test purposes. The upgrade this application using EPMA/BPMA. IT will create a ADS file , which you can go a check out to see what fields are populated and how.

We are using EPM Version 11.1.2.1 and i have created an Accounts Dimension and also members below it using EPMA and now i want to use some of the members which i have created in EPMA under accounts dimenion in one application and other members in second application? How can i achieve this?
Ex: Accounts

A2
A3
A4
I want to use A1 and A2 in one Planning Application and A3 an A4 in Second Planning Application.

You should create the Accounts Dimension in the Shared Library of EPMA. Then add that dimension to your applications and in the application dimensions pane in the middle, right click on the member or hierarchies you wish to exclude, and choose Exclude Member. Keep in mind that if you do this at the parent level, its descendants will also be excluded. To see the members that are excluded, simply right click on the dimension itself and choose Show Excluded Members.

Unable to view SmartList in Planning webforms in 11.1.1.2

Hi Friends,
I am using Hyperion Planning 11.1.1.2 webforms. I am Unable to view SmartList in Planning webforms.
steps I have done:
1.Created a SmartList.
2.Added entries to Smartlist
3.Assigned the SmartList to a dimension Member(Account Member).
4.In the webform I am selecting the same account member as Column member.
5.One Members for Row.
6.Rest of all the dimension members are POV/PAGE.
When I open the form I am not able to see the smartlist for the account member. I am not able to select.
Also I see that there is no "Enable Smart List" option in EPM (11.1.1.2). I have seen the same in 9.2
Any Idea what needs to be set or changed?

Hi,
Have you set the evaluation order, Administration > Dimensions > Evaluation Order > Move the dimension that the smart list is against across to the right hand window.

The advantage of using EPMA?

now, I know there are many defects to use EPMA if the Planning project is very small. However, what is the advantage of using EPMA, here is what I am thinking: 1. If there are many application and you want to centrally develop everything, EPMA is bettter. 2. EPMA application can use the existing dimensions and template, and easier to develop a new application, besides, the diemsion library makes the dimension reusable Please correct me, thanks!

EPMA is also great for inputting metadata changes incrementally over time, but only truly updating the application once every X amount of time (example once a month, but perform metadata changes every day).
This is a huge benefit because you tightly control changes without effecting the production cube at all, it is a mini development environment unto itself. That is the next best feature around EPMA other than dimension sharing.

Export Dimensions using EPMA Batch Client

HI,
Does anyone know if there is a way to export the dimensions from EPMA using a command line tool like the EPMA Batch Client. I have gone through the guide and there are commands to import the dimensions but none to export them from EPMA. We are on EPM 11.1.2.1 version and all our apps are using EPMA with planning so unfortunately i cannot use the planning outline extractor tool either. Thanks

You can use LCM to export a hierarchy, and that can be scripted LCM batch utility. Create a migration to the file system with LCM. Select the hierarchies you want to export. When you get to the point where it asks you to execute the migration, there is also an option to save an XML file with the options you selected. You can use that xml file with the utility. The exports are in the import/export folder under the ID of the person executing the migration. The folder/files can be copies anywhere.

I'm trying to update Smartlist in Planning using HAL. I know HAL is not being used so much now-a-days but still there are people who are really smart in this. Can anyone of those smart people let me know how to update Smartlist from HAL for our Account hierarchy. Like which what should be the input to the planning adapter?

Hi,
Because the adapters provided within ODI does support only classic Planning applications, you can use ODI with classic Planning for metadata integration. This doesn't mean though, that you cannot use ODI to feed metadata in to EPMA. You can load the metadata to interface tables and automate the integration using EPMA batch utility.
Plus, you can still use it for data extract & load as essbase is essbase no matter your application is classic or EPMA.
However I must admit that it's more handy using with classic Planning. Check John Goodwin's blog if you haven't.

Integrated Planning in COPA using KEPM and loading of quantity to SOP

We are in process of testing integrated planning in COPA using KEPM and loading of quantity to SOP (MC87) or Transfer Qty to SOP - KE1E. I created a planning level with basic information to plan quantity on product with Period/Year, Version, Plant, Product, Record Type (F), Unit Sales Qty.
Also created Planning Package & Planning Parameter with Planning layout and entered quantity for a material which creates a profitability segment with quantity update. The problem occurs when transferring to SOP the sales quantity either using MC87 or KE1E, it goes into a loop and times out. We tried using different parameters, but ended up with same result.
Are we missing some Config/steps here, any thoughts will help.

You need to transfer COPA plan to inactive version of SOP through KE1E. Thereafter, in PP, the same is transfered to active version through MC78. Thereafter it is transferred to Demand Management through MC74.
Please check with your PP consultant.

The planning data in plan 0 has been overwritten with actuals for P1-12 in error does anyone know how to reverse this posting?

I have tried this and worked with my system.
Try to execute KP98 transaction with reference actual period which has no posting(future period-01/2011) and in "reser/overwite" mode.
Initially try with single cost center/cost element value.
This will fix your issue.

there is no direct t-code to reverse posted plan data exclusively for cost centers.SAP has this function to delete all plan data in integrated module so go with above response.

Can anyone help me with this: my daughter lost her unlimited data plan when I used her upgrade.

My daughter lost her unlimited data plan when I used her upgrade to buy a new phone (upgrade transfer). She didn't upgrade her phone, I did. No one told us this was going to happen and the first I knew of it was when I got a letter in the mail telling me of the change. We went back to the store where we bought the new phone and they put in 2 requests for her unlimited plan to be reinstated, but both were denied. They then told us to call Customer Care, but Customer Care doesn't care. Does anyone else have any experience of this and know of any recourse we may have? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Planning time fence using a specific calendar

Planning time calculation is using workdays and the factory calendar.
I have a customer request to have the planning time fence use a specific calendar, not containing holidays and non-active periods. Is there a possibility in ERP to define a specific calendar for planning time fence.

This is with ref to your response to the above question. I too have a similar problem.
We have a factory Calendar (US) that is used on our day to day business. This factory calendar does not include the weekends and public holidays.
I created a SAP Planning Calendar(DSI) via MD25 but when i ran the MRP it still gives me the result based out of the Factory Calendar.
I would like to see my MRP to propose including weekend and public holidays.
If you could send me your id , i could send the screen shots.

Unable to delete Planning application created through EPMA

Hi friends,
Iam unable to delete the planning application created through EPMA.Tried logging in as admin still its not allowing.
I tried in application view-> right click and delete.it will ask for all related info and when I say 'delete', the status is aborted.
Can anyone tell whether we can delete an application created through EPMA. or is there a way to delete in backend.

You could try and find more information from the logs, first change the level of logging for EPMA, it is set as standard to INFO and it is probably best changed to DEBUG.
To do this
Stop EPMA
Go to the deployed Web application directory.
For Tomcat, this is C:\Hyperion\deployments\Tomcat5\EPMAWebTier\webapps\awb\WEB-INF\conf.
Open AWBLog4j.properties.
Modify this line:
log4j.logger.com.hyperion.awb=ERROR,logfile, stdout to log4j.logger.com.hyperion.awb=DEBUG ,logfile, stdout
RESTART EPMA
Then try and delete again and check to see if the logs have further information.
