Smartview 11.1.2 - Planning and Excel formulas giving problems
Hi,
I am using Smartview 11.1.2 with HP 11.1.2, when I open one webform done and in one cell I write
=10
and after I write different number like 5, it's still with =10
so, has someone had problems with you start to use a formula in one cell and after you tried to replace by a value?

Click 2 call and excel copy/paste problems
Recent posts from late May claim that the click to call issues were resolved in late may. Today is June 21/12 and I resolved the problem yesterday by un-installing the click to call program. Prior to that cut and copy requests were losing the marquee around copied cells and when target cells were right clicked the context menu did not include Insert Copied cells.
Some problems may have been addressed but the problem still exists. It's too bad because click to call was a good feature.

SHARED MEMORY AND DATABASE MEMORY giving problem.

I am facing problem with EXPORT MEMORY and IMPORT MEMORY.
I have developed one program which will EXPORT the internal table and some variables to the memory.This program will call another program via background job. IMPORT memory used in another program to get the first program data.
This IMPORT command is working perfect in foreground. But it is not working in background.
So, I have reviewed couple of forums and I tried both SHARED MEMORY AND DATABASE MEMORY. But no use. Still background is giving problem.
When I remove VIA JOB parameter in the SUBMIT statement it is working. But i need to execute this program in background via background job. Please help me . what should I do?

You can not exchange data between your programs using ABAP memory, because this memory is shared between objects within the same internal session.
When you call your report using VIA JOB, a new session is created.
Instead of using EXPORT and IMPORT to memory, put both programs into the same Function Group, and use global data objects of the _TOP include to exchange data.
Another option, is to use SPA/GPA parameters (SET PARAMETER ID / GET PARAMETER ID), because SAP memory it is available between all open sessions. Of course, it depends on wich type of data you want to export.

Hello, i have a adobe muse website created for my screen printing business, im trying to create a interactive table or formula that i can insert in as html or what ever the correct route would be.
Example...
On a page if a viewer goes to a paticular shirt i want the option for them to be able to plug in how many shirts and how many colors. And than have it give them a cost per shirt. I have no problem with the formula i just cant make it interactive?
I tried the muse table widget which is great for tables and data, but i cant make it interactive with formulas.
Is this possible. Im a wiz in excel, but can figure out how to intergrate it into muse?
Any feedback would be great.

To achieve this, you may have the interactive table or formula created in excel , have the same file saved as HTML file format grab the source code of the same and have it inserted as HTML.
Alternatively. You may may find this addon helpful as well : http://www.spreadsheetconverter.com/ which would help you generate the HTML file of the calculator you create in Excel and then have its source inserted in muse using "insert as HTML"

LabVIEW 2011, and Excel 2010: saving problems
Hello to all! I am a student of Mechanical Engineeringfthat very little has been using this software. I present the problem: for a matter which is called Biomechanics, I and my colleagues, we have developed the design of a rheometer, which is controlled by LabVIEW2011. Since we are still at the experimental stage, always has been simulated using labview: the whole experience. So, labview, at present, not only controls the stepper motor through the frequency sets, but also simulates the output (in the specific, the response to the torsion of the cartilage, simulated with a low pass filter of the second order). All this was done by my colleague more experienced than me, who today passed me the finished project that in his pc works perfectly while not in mine (we have the same version of labview, but different version of office). In practice, the program is fine (there is no arrow "Run" broken) and the simulation with the creation of the sine graph (response of the cartilage) is done perfectly. My colleague then set labview in order to save the data to an excel sheet at the end of the simulation, asking the user where to put it (the excel file must already exist, labview does not create it). The excel file should contain two columns and a scatter plot (one column represents the frequency, f, of the stepper motor, the second represent the shear modulus G, which increases as the frequency increases and the graph represent the trend of G in function of f). As soon as I decide to save the data, excel opens, for an instant appear the scatter plot and data in columns but immediately after the graph disappears and remain only the columns with data (so I have to make the graph "manually") and labview gives me the following error:

Go to Solution.The LabVIEW Report Generator in LabVIEW 2010 and more recent versions does, indeed, work very well with Excel in Office 2010. I helped someone about two weeks ago with a problem saving a series of measurements to a (new) Excel Workbook. Your problem differs in two ways -- you want to save in an existing Excel file (why? Aren't you worried about overwriting data, or are you trying to add a new WorkSheet, or append to the end of an existing WorkSheet?) and making a Chart. I've not tried charts, so don't have advice right now.
Judging by your error message, it is the Chart feature that is giving you trouble. Can you see how your code runs if you eliminate the Chart functions? [You can do that by putting a "Diagram Disable" Structure around the Chart code, clicking on the top of the structure and wiring the wires through in the Enable case].
Give that a try and let us know what happens. -

I finally reluctantly upgraded my 2007 MBP 2.33GHz duo 3GbRAM to Lion for fear of losing .mac stuff. It was very bad timing as I am nearto the end of a piece of research using 100Mb excel files and a very large multi-media word doc.
Everything seemed ok to start with. Maybe a little slow but it wasn't exactly flying before. Then yesterday after a couple of days it started to fritz.
First Autorecovery in excel started playing up saying it didn't have enough memory to reopen the xls after saving. This seems to have stopped. Then word did it too saying the location for the autorecovery wasn't right. I even lost a whole bunch of work as it seemed to overwrite a file with an old version.
Then today it did the crazy syslogd thing that I've seen others posting about.
I don't have an SSD so its not the crucial M4 firmware thing.
I'm using Mac office 2011 which I'm pretty sure is upgraded as I always do the MS updates cos they usually say "critical" (I'm on 14.2.2).
Is anyone else having similar problems?
Safari seems pretty slow to me now too. And the boot up takes forever.

Essbase connection w.r.t Smartview and Excel add-in
donno if this is the right place for this thread, I thought planning experts are experienced with both smartview and excel add-ins
what is the protocol used behind the scene in both ways (HTTP, RMI, TCO/IP) and which one takes less resources and works faster
to serve better interms of performance while connected to essbase? that I know we add URL for conneceting to essbase thru aps for a
smartview essbase connection and we directly connect to essbase in essbase excel add-in connection.

-RamI think Essbase Excel add-in connects through TCP/IP whereas Smartview connects via web services (http).
Excel add-in should be faster as it speaks directly with Essbase as opposed to Smartview which connects Essbase through another service (APS). But Smartview comes with its own advantages (i.e. better integration, smoother user experience etc.)

How can I move columns in Numbers without distorting the formula in other cells? In Excel I can cut and paste entire columns and the formula in other cells adjusts accordingly. When I do it in Numbers, the formula messes up. How can I do this?
For example: I have formulas in columns D and F that relate to columns C to CU
If I want to move one column from one position to another (say S to T), the formula loses the colums that was moved, i.e. it doesn't recognize it has moved, rather sees it as deleted... How can I do this without distorting the formula?Thanks for the feedback.

Excel Formulas and File Size Limitations with Numbers
I am trying to use Numbers with a number of Excel files I have developed over the years. After opening several Excel files I find the size of the sheets are truncated [esp. the number of cells in width] and some KEY FORMULAS are not supported – esp. XIRR to calculate Internal Rate of Return.
Am I missing something or is Numbers a much more limited app than I had imagined?
I can install Excel on my new iMac, but since Numbers came with the new confuser I thought I'd try it.I wasn't aware about the differences in the IRR function between Numbers and Excel. The subset of functions in Numbers 3 should be almost identical to their Excel equivalents. Are you sure?

flows-range: A collection that contains the cash flow values. flows-range must contain number values. Income (a cash inflow) is specified as a positive number, and an expenditure (a cash outflow) is specified as a negative number.
From Excel Microsoft support:
Returns the internal rate of return for a series of cash flows represented by the numbers in values. These cash flows do not have to be even, as they would be for an annuity. However, the cash flows must occur at regular intervals, such as monthly or annually. The internal rate of return is the interest rate received for an investment consisting of payments (negative values) and income (positive values) that occur at regular periods.
I'm pretty sure the sign convention is identical, as these two descriptions suggest.
In any case, if you need XIRR and/or you work with large datasets with lots of columns, then you need Excel.

Excel formulas and BEx Hierarchies
Is there a way to use Excel (2007) formulas against BEx (3.5) results that have a hierarchy so that when you expand or collapse a node the formula updates with it? I tried a structured reference but I get an error when expanding node and have to refresh the query.

Dynamic Input form with PLAN and Actual Confusion (YEAR-row / MONTH-Column)

Row Axis: YEAR
Column Axis: MONTH
Page Axis: VERSION
From the VERSION dimension, we re able to get Budget Year and the latest Actual Month.
For example, As u see below, the budget year is 2014 and we retreive + or - 2 years of budget year which is 2014.
And the latest actual month is Jun.
So is it possible to make a dynamic report that can retreive actual data for the budget year and latest actual month of selected VERSION and also rest of the cells should be inputtable.
By the way, we have a dimension which named as for the PLAN , ACTUAL etc.
So what do you suggest for that case? Is there any way to handle without VBA?

I agree Vadim, you do not need extra dimension for time. You can "report" in Bex analyzer with this format but BPC reporting/input schedules is not dynamic enough. Because you can not use property in axis but in Bex it is possible. Maybe you can change input form design because where is other contex in your form, 2012.01 what, price or stocks or sth? You have to specify account and entity. I think it is useless design to input data. I added figure for sales model. In this figure, you can manage actual / budget with "if" and "today" excel formulas. And you can easily link your olap member in column axis. I think it will help you.

Using Excel Formula to Submit Data
Has anyone tried this - In the data range of an ad-hoc view, build excel vlookups to retrieve data from an excel table and press submit? I tested this process and the data submitted and when refreshed, the ad-hoc grid returned the vlookup values and retained the vlookup formula. I did further testing by creating another ad-hoc grid in a different worksheet without any of the vlookup and the ad-hoc grid returned the correct value.
Is what I described above a smartview functionality?
Thanks,Because you have formula preservation turned on, the vlookup formulas will be retained and not refreshed with the Essbase values. If you turn off the retain formulas then after the submit, the Essbase values will be returned, but you will lose the vlookup formulas

New to the system, but wanted to know if there's a way to keep Excel formulas after refreshing in SmartView. Appears as though we lose the formulas after clicking the refresh icon.
Thanks in advanceWe have this issue as well. It has contributed to our startup with Smartview being very poor and given our implementation a bad name. In our experience, Smartview does not deal well with Formulas. We worked around this by using one tab to feed another with the correct formulas. In our experience, Smartview is OK on raw numbers but do not hope or epect it to output fully formatted excel reports.
In particular, Smartview, at least in our simple implementation, is very poor at mixing Excel formulas into a table. -
Memory usage of excel stays high after Macro is executed and excel crashes after trying to close it

I'm trying to resolve an issue with an excel based tool. The macros retrieve data from an Oracle database and do calculations with the data. They also open and write into files in the same directory. The macros all run and finish the calculations. I can
continue to use and modify the sheet. I can also close the workbook, however excel memory usage I see in the windows Task manager stays elevated.If I close Excel it says: Excel stopped working and then it tries to recover information...
I assume something in the macro did not finish properly and memory was not released. I would like to check what is still open (connection, stream or any other object) when I close the workbook I would like to have a list of all still used memory. Is there
a possibility to do so.

that's what I did the last days and found that the problem is in the
newPrice_calculate (lastRow)
function. This function retrieves data (sets it as arrays) which was correctly pasted into the sheet, loops through all rows and does math/calendar calculations with cell values using an Add-In("Quantlib")

How to convert an Excel Formula to a Custom Calculation Script in a Adobe Acrobat 9 Form?
Hello,
I am not familiar whatsoever with Javascript and need some help in converting the following Excel Formula so that I can enter it into a Custom Calculation Script in a Adobe PDF Form. Here is the formula:

Where "E15" will be the text field named "Subtotal" on my Adobe PDF Form.
