SmartView Hsgetvalue function and Refresh

Hi All,
I'm creating a SmartView Report using HsgetValue() function. When i Refresh the data is getting displayed correctly, but giving pop up warning that Essbase Error (1020047): A column item conflicts with a Row item
Why it is happening ? Can anyone help ?
Also how i can insert graphs in the same SmartView HsGetvlaue() Report. The Graphs should display / Change based on the data.

Which version of SmartView your are using , in SmartView 11.1.2.1 this is a known bug.

Report custom function and repository custom function

Hi Guru:
We have some repository functions.
When using them in the report, in design time, we will choose Add to report for the functions and then we could use it.
Then the repository functions are updated, and I found the report function, which comes from the repository function, is not updated, I need to add the repository function to the report again to update it.
As we will have more and more reports using the repository function, in the long run, is there a way to automatically update the report function from the repository for all the reports?

From Crystal's online help:
Repository objects that are used in a report and are connected to that report's repository can be updated automatically when opening the report in Crystal Reports. This behavior is controlled by an Options setting and is global for all reports.
Note: Objects that are used in a report but are disconnected from the repository are not automatically updated when the report is opened.
To set the update option
On the File menu, click Options.
The Options dialog box appears.
Click the Reporting tab.
Select the Update Connected Repository Objects on Open check box.
Click OK.
If you don't want to use this global option, you can also update a report's repository objects by selecting the Update Repository Objects option on the Open dialog box for an individual report.
Note: When you open a report that contains a command that is stored in the repository, and you have specified that you want to Update Connected Repository Objects on Open, only the definition of the command is automatically refreshed; the data that the command returns is not updated until you click the Refresh button in the report.

Delete row from report and refresh region

Hi
Using apex 4.0
I have a requirment like on one page there are two regions.
There are two text boxes and insert button, by setting value into text box and pressing insert button data is saved in one table.
And second region is for report which is selecting data which was inserted in first region. It is working correctly. Now in report region,
there should be delete link/button to delete particular row and refresh that region.
I have created delete link in second region and called java script function to delete from table. However that region is not refreshed and showing
old data.
I have tried with dynamic action to refresh region. But i am not getting sequence it is treating, first java script function will be called and then
dynamic action will be executed or what? Because dynamic action is not refreshing region.
Please let me know correct way to implement this requirement or correct me in my steps.

Export terminated successfully with warnings.Unfortunately, you can't export just the objects you want to unless they are tables.
Using import (imp) you can list the content of your packages, procedures, functions, views, etc. and perhaps that will give you what you need.
Another choice would be to useSELECT * FROM user_source ORDER BY 2, 1, 3;to list the code.

Function of Refresh Button in Web interface

Hi All,
I have created a web layout in which there is "REFRESH" button.
If i have opened the web layout and i simultaneously do some changes in back end from BW side. After clicking refresh in web interface changes are not reflected.
What exactly the function of "REFRESH" button is??
Also is there any other way through which i can get the changes( done in back end) reflected in my already logged in Web layouts??

Can you clarify it more. Lets take an example. If i have one charachteristics for project say A and i have prepared a layout which is showing that projects attributes like project's begin date, end date, etc..
Now if i open the Web interface and at the same time if i change its end date from back end, on click of refresh the changes are not reflected...
But if i again open that Web interface changes are reflected. What is reason for this??

Native Canvas Painting and Refresh

Hi,
I have a project where I get live video from a firewire camera, and paint it to an awt Canvas natively using JNI. I need additional items painted on the canvas (on top of the video), like a pair of crosshairs and rulers to measure certain widths, etc. The software tracks an object moving across the screen, so the crosshairs need to be moved around and refreshed often.
I am getting a strange problem - the natively painted video is working just fine, but the painted objects are not refreshing properly. For example, instead of getting a crosshair that moves around the screen, I get a trail of crosshairs. And underneath the crosshairs, the video is refreshing just fine. What's going on? I'm using libXv, an X-windows extension to paint YUV4:2:2 camera buffers directly to the screen.

I'm not sure how the crosshairs can be out of sync with the video stream - the canvas paint routines paint the video frame natively, and then paint the crosshairs. It's all sequential -

I'd get two crosshairs on the screen. I had to use a hack from the xwindows utility xrefresh everytime the crosshairs changed. It essentially simulated an x-window that opened over the Qt window, and then immediately closed. This worked well, but I thought I'd be free of that hack when I moved to java and JNI. Isn't this bizarre? Why would the window hold on to the old crosshair even when the varialbes change and there isn't any code that repaints it there after the video frame gets blitted?

Struts page control - stored procedure and refresh

Hi Guys,
I have a struts page with a read-only form that gets data from the database through a view - the contents of this table can change dynamically. There is a button on this page that allows me to refresh the page and see the current contents of the table.
I also have another button on this page that calls a stored procedure which updates the table. However, when I click this, I also want the page to refresh so that I can see the results of the procedure's update - the page does refresh but displays the content of the table BEFORE the procedure ran.
I have had a look at a javascript solution and it doesn't really fly.
I think that what I need is a hook in the class that calls the stored procedure that also selects from the view. I think that, when the page refreshes after the procedure call, the new view contents will be displayed.
Does anone have an idea as to how I go about this?

"How to call PL/SQL Stored procedures" if you search the board will describe how to call a stored proc (or function) and get the result set into a scrollable jtable that is SIMILAR to the DAC gridcontrol.
That isn't exactly what you asked... it isn't using the DAC gridcontrol.
I'd be interested in seeing how someone did the latter.
Hopefully the JDEV team are well acquanted with how folks develope using Reports and Forms and can apply the capabilities there ( like getting results from stored procs into via toolset for programmer use ) to the DAC controls and rollover such existing capabilities into Jdev in the future.

Can a function be refreshed without rebuilding it

I have a function I have built that takes 4 parameters; last parameter is optional. I am adding a 5th parameter that will be optional but I want to register the function with the new parameter. I didn't notice any button or option in the Discoverer Administration tool to REFRESH the function. Is the only way to get the parameter added is to unregister and re-register the pl/sql function? Thanks for all the input ahead of time :-)

WOW, I must have been blind Rod. I was obviously not thinking. I went back to the admin interface to verify I could do this and I can :-).. This acutally raises another question which is if you do not place the name of the column in the "Name" attribute, how would Discoverer know what to associate the new arguement to? I quickly added a bogus parameter to the function and when I made it required, in order to run the old report 1 conditions was deleted with a calculation that was used. If I make the bogus parameter "Optional" it then didnt destroy the prior report that was built against it. In either case, when I "Validate" the function it said ALL IS WELL (dumb system :-) Anyway, thanks for letting me know about adding this manually because I painstakingly saved all the descriptions out on the Function and Parameters so that I could delete it and re-add the function but your way would have short cut the process :-)

Smartview VBA function for launch calc-scripts as strings. like EsbCalc ???

We have used an Excel VBA which launch an calculation script from a STRING using the VBA Add-In function "EsbCalc".
We would like to migrate to Smartview VBA functions.....
The calc-script string has "parameters" which are modified at run-time...
I have found the function HypExecuteCalcScript - but seems that use as parameters ONLY the calc-script name...
Is it any VBA function in SmartView which launch a calc-script string (not a calc-script name) ?

A tip I just learned at Kaleidoscope 2010* is that one can create a calc script consisting entirely of a substitution variable. In other words, a calc script can look like this:

Smart View VBA does have a function for changing or creating substitution variables (HypSetSubstitutionVariable). You could create a calc script and subvar in your database as above. Then, at run time, set that subvar to your calc string with HypSetSubstitutionVariable and execute the calc script with HypExecuteCalcScript.
Quick test (11.1.1.3) shows that this really works.
I can't remember privileges required to create or set subvars vs execute calc strings off the top of my head - might be an issue (I ran as an admin). Also this approach doesn't support concurrent users, unless they each have a calc script and subvar to themselves. Still, depending on your exact situation, this might be a feasible workaround.

ADF 10.1.3 Programatically committing changes and refreshing the list page.

I have a requirement where on list page i select a recrod and than modifies it on next page. I am using different database views for list and update purpose. So when i save the changes, control comes back to REFRESHED list page.
Pls let me know how can i commit and refresh the changes programatically. I hav added a method on managed bean as part of action binding.

Same EPM Excel Report takes time to open and refresh on 1 system while it opens and refreshes faster on other system

I am facing an issue where the EPM Excel Templates on SERVER ROOT FOLDER take time to open on 1 system . It also takes great amount of time to REFRESH . While on an another system the same Report opens rather quickly and refreshes also quickly .

Since installing LTR 5.4, which I've now upgraded to 5.6, I've encountered repeated slowness and malfunctions in operations, especially when using the Compare View function and the Tab key to open and close the right and left side panels. Such problems never arose during two years of using LTR-4 and nothing else has changed on my computer. I have a pretty simple system with only a few plug-ins, which are usually not in operation. I have 12GB of RAM in my Windows 7 PC. I could illustrate these problems with screen shots if you would tell me how to submit screen shots. Otherwise I will try to describe the problems in words.
The problem is clearly cumulative, growing worse as usage time passes. Compare View feature gradually slows down and eventually seems to choke as my work session proceeds. If I Exit LTR and re-enter and start all over, things will work normally for maybe 30 minutes, but then the Compare View feature begins to become very slow to respond. In a recent example with my screen full of thumbnails in Library mode I highlighted two images to compare. LTR started to open the Compare View screen by first having the top row of thumbnails disappear to be replaced by the "SELECT" and "CANDIDATE" words in their spaces (but no images), but Compare View never succeeded in gaining control of the screen. After some seconds the top row of thumbnails reasserted its position and the Compare View windows disappeared. But LTR kept trying to bring them back. Again the top row of thumbnails would go away, Select and candidate would reappear, try again, and give up. This went on for at least 2-3 minutes before I tried to choose File and Exit, but even that did not initially want to respond. It doesn't like to accept other commands when it's trying to open Compare View. Finally it allowed me to exit.
To experiment I created a new catalog of 1100 images. After 30-40 minutes, the Compare View function began to operate very slowly. With left and right side panels visible and two thumbnails highlighted, hitting Compare View can take half a minute before the two mid-size images open in their respective SELECT and CANDIDATE windows. When the side panels are open and two images are in the Select/Candidate spaces, hitting the Tab button to close the side panels produces a very delayed response--25-30 seconds to close them, a few more seconds to enlarge the two images to full size. To reverse the process (i.e., to recall the two side panels), hitting Tab would make the two sides of the screen go black for up to a minute, with no words visible. Eventually the info fields in the panels would open up.
I also created a new user account and imported a folder of 160 images. After half an hour Compare View began mis-placing data. (I have a screen shot to show this.) CANDIDATE appears on the left side of SELECT, whereas it should be on the right. The accompanying camera exposure data appears almost entirely to the left of the mid-screen dividing line. Although the Candidate and Select headings were transposed, the image exposure data was not, but the data for the image on the right was almost entirely to the left of the line dividing the screen in two.

Go to the View menu and turn on the Status Bar. If you don't see the menus, go to the small icon with the arrow at the extreme upper left and select "Show Menu Bar":
