SmugMug Connection defunct after Yosemite/Aperture 3.6

I've upgraded my MacMini to Yosemite. After the successful upgrade, I've also installed the latest Aperture 3.6 throught the appStore.
Aperture just works fine and opened the library flawlessly. However, when I launched it, my SmugMug-entry in the left pane showed that there's no connection to the SmugMug backend for synchronization. I clicked on it couple times to find out that it sometimes starts to connect/sync (spinning wheel). I even could upload some new sets but most of the time I got an error that there could not be a secure SSL connection established.
I've then contacted SmugMug support (very responsive!) and got (ill)-advised to revoke the application from the SmugMug platform and then reconnect. After that, it now does not work anymore, at all. And there is no way to add Aperture to the list, anymore. When launching Aperture, there is an immediate dialogue popping up that a connection to SmugMug could not be established asking if this account shall be configured for publishing again. Clicking "configure" opens Safari with a new tab and tries to authenticate to no avail (unsuccessful after 5 minutes or so).
OK. After numerous attempts, the Authorization through Safari (Aperture was added to your Authorized Applications) concluded successfully. However, this still does NOT help as Aperture still claims it cannot access SmugMug.
Loop of death. Does anybody out here have an idea how to solve that? It simply carries on forever. It even freezes Aperture (albeit temporarily for about 5 minutes).
Bottom line: Would I have to totally remove the account in the Accounts settings in Aperture? Not quite sure if that totally spoils all the interaction between SmugMug and Aperture.
Any idea welcome!
thanks

Did you install Final Cut Express after you installed MacOS X?  Then install Yosemite again on top of the current system, without reinstalling the applications. See: Aperture 3.x: Aperture unexpectedly quits if Final Cut Express 4 is installed
Aperture does not work after installing FCE, but if you reinstall MacOS X after installing FCE,  both Aperture and Final Cut Express sgizld work.
The download of Aperture may be incomplete. If reinstalling the system does not solve this, trash Aperture and download again.

  • Secure Connection Problems after Yosemite update

    Hi all
I'm using a MacBook Air 2012 and since upgrading to Yosemite, I have had a lot of issues using an Ethernet connection. I was using the same Ethernet connection for Mavericks and there were no problems whatsoever.
None of my apps which use the internet can connect. Examples include Skype not signing in, my Mail app not connecting and being unable to connect to the App Store.
When using Safari and Google Chrome I cannot access secure websites (https), however on Firefox I can access the majority of secure websites. Non-secure websites (http) are not a problem on any browser. Error messages on Safari say "Safari can't open the page (web address) because Safari can't establish a secure connection to the server." On Google Chrome the error message reads, "The connection to (web address) was interrupted."
I have tried and failed with numerous different suggestions including:
    Ensuring correct time and date
    DNS Flush
    Changing Network Location in Preferences
Setting Network Location to Automatic in Preferences
    Turning Firewalls/Anti-Virus Software off
Typing the following commands into the terminal:
              sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.discoveryd.plist
              sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.discoveryd.plist
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Start up in Recovery mode. In the OS X Utilities screen, select Get Help Online. A clean copy of Safari will launch. No plugins, such as Flash, will be available. While in Recovery, you'll have no access to your saved bookmarks or passwords, so make a note of those before you begin, if they're needed for the test.
Test. After testing, restart as usual and post the results.

  • 3g modem connection problems after Yosemite upgrade

If you haven't already done so, try this simple step first.

  • Mac Mini i7 After Yosemite update, sleep mode affecting internet connection

    Hi,
I got a Mac Mini i7 for July 2014 everything was awesome.  On Monday, October 27th 2014, I notice the port where my Mac Mini is connected, the light is amber colour.  When this happens there's no internet connection for the Mac Mini and affects the router has it slows the connection.  After doing the following:
    1. Turn off Modem for 20mins (hard reset)
    2. Turn off Router for 20mins (hard reset)-Router Netgear WNDR4000
    3. Set Service Order
    4. Change Ethernet Cable
    5. Renew the DHCP
I found out the when the Mac Mini goes to sleep mode thats when connections drops.  I test where i set it to 1min and voila the port is now amber colour.
I don't want to keep the Mac Mini i7 in "never" status has it decrease life.
Put hard disk to sleep when possible and Wake for network access are checked.
Of course before the update, everything was working fine.  Any ideas is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Retsel Adrec

    Re-installing Yosemite fixed this problem.
    Thanks.

  • Aperture does not recognize files on SD card after Yosemite

After Yosemite upgrade, Aperture cannot see/import files (both RAW and JPEG) on the SD card (using SD card reader plugged into a USB port).
I know for sure the files are there as I can see them using other devices and using Finder on the same iMAC.
The iMAC (year 2008, 4G RAM)itself is also running slowly with lots of spinning beach ball all the time.

Does Aperture not show the card in the Import panel, or only no photos on the card?
Have you checked all Import Settings in the Import panel, that could exclude photos? i.e. "Do not import Duplicates", "File Types", "Only include ...", RAW&Jpeg Pairs?

You aren't likely to get an answer with that type of attitude. BTW, you are not contacting Apple on these forums. We are all volunteer end users just like you. If you want support, then call AppleCare and you can get one-on-one assistance.

I have the same problem when I updated to OS X 10.10 I lost both my USB ports as far as they will not recognize anything that I plug into them.  The power part of the USB seams to work since it will recharge my Striiv Touch but nothing shows up when you connect anything to the ports.
I have tried a number of things from rebooting, trying other usb devices that work on other systems with no problems but will not work on my Macbook Pro.
    Any Help out there?

  • Images lost after rebuilding aperture database

    Hi,
After updating to Yosemite, Aperture started to show problems/ freeze etc. I could not acces my photo's and after updating Aperture 'it' announced that the libraries had to be rebuild.
These are images stored on a external harddrive and we're talking about over 3000 images. (over 4 years of family holidays to be exact so they are very valuable)
I left it running day and night, and after 4 days it was still rebuilding, which is understandable for that many pictures.
Sadly a family member did not realize that the plugged in harddrive was running and unplugged it after 5 days......Naturally Aperture showed an error. When I plugged the drive back in Aperture asked to finish rebuilding the libraries. Yet when I said yes it was finished in 3seconds and Aperture won't start up nor will it show me the libraries.
While the harddrive contained 2tb of info before, it's now only 500MB. It seems like 1/4th of my images are just gone. nowhere to be found and Aperture won't start back up.
Did anyone else encounter this problem or are there any measures that can be taken to possibly resolve the images?
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Do you have any vaults or other backups of the images? I think that's what you'll need to look into. If the space is free on the drive, the images are gone.
I haven't known Aperture to delete images. Is the Aperture library also stored on the external storage, or was it on an internal drive? It's most likely that something corrupted the external drive and lost the images, and also corrupted the Aperture library. I actually have had this happen to me once - in my case I also had some music files go missing from my iTunes library, which is why I think some external factor was at play.
Thankfully I had a backup (I have Aperture vaults, and a separate Time Machine backup, as well as an online backup with Backblaze). Hopefully you have at least one method of backup as you're going to need it.

  • Yosemite/Aperture 3.6 No Support for Nikon D810/ Raw-S Files ?

I am thoroughly confused.  I only recently began "drinking the Apple Kool-Aid" and am quite disturbed to learn (after upgrading to Yosemite & Aperture 3.6) that Nikon d810 Raw-S files are NOT supported....
What gives ?  I mean you pay premium dollars for what is allegedly a premium product (MacBook Pro - Retina latest edition) you have the latest/ greatest software (Yosemite & Aperture 3.6) and the latest/greatest camera (Nikon D810) and one of the file formats is simply "Not supported ?"  Seriously ??
I have had more compatibility issues with Apple and its software since being convinced by all the marketing hype to "drink the Kool-Aid" than I ever had with my ancient Dell XP PC laptop....
Getting back to the point.  Why no Raw-S Support for Nikon d810 ?
Will there be support for the Nikon d-810 Raw-S files at some point ? If so, when ?
    If not, WHY ?
What should I do with the 400 photos I took of a high school hockey game in Raw-S format given I am now drinking only the "Apple Kool-Aid?"
    Signed....

Apple can't release it until Nikon supplies them with the required information.
Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • Keep losing internet connection since installing Yosemite

After installing Yosemite on three Macs I am unable to maintain consistent internet connection on two of them. One with ethernet connection requires repeated rebooting of the router, and the other mac (wi-fi) requires going through systems preferences\network\diagnostics repeatedly. The third mac is operating just fine.
    Any ideas would be helpful.

I have exact same issue. Worked perfectly before Yosemite. After Yosemite, connection to Internet and Server drop out continually, every 15 minutes or so. Other MAC works perfectly on the same connection. Have already verified that the cables, router ports, etc are working fine.
Your advice will be greatly appreciated, as the frequency of drop-out makes it unusable.

Monitor flickering badly after Yosemite installed
I will be awaiting upDated drivers in a release soon.
I notice is very badly when I connect my iphone to ITunes screen
goes crazy flicker. . . . Anyone else having this issue ?

Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the
computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager
screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    4. Reinstall Yosemite: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Extremely slow wifi speeds after Yosemite install

I "upgraded" to Yosemite and now my wifi speeds on this machine (iMAC) are extremely slow, like crawling. Was fine this morning before update. All other devices in the house (iphones, ipad, macbook pro) are all running normal fast speeds. Does anyone know if there is a fix for this? Missing Mavericks already.

I saw a big (huge) change in wifi speeds after Yosemite upgrade, it was more noticeable the farther away from the router I was. I moved closer to the Router and speed was back to normal.
You can check your connection by pressing at the same time alt(option) and the wifi icon (at top of menu bar), a drop down list will show the connection's stats, look for TX Rate towards the bottom. After upgrade my TX Rate dropped to 5 Mbps! I moved closer to the Router, and TX Rate improved to 146 Mbps, Safari was browsing at normal speeds again.
I read other discussions, found a suggestion to rename my location, in System Preferences - Network - WiFi, at top of panel Location, mine was named Automatic (the default). As suggested, I clicked on the arrows, selected edit, and renamed the location, name it anything you like... I restarted the computer, and luckily enough my TX  Rate at the farthest location from Router improved from 5Mbps to 39 Mbps. Still slower than before, never saw it below 80's. Don't know if the restart or the change of location name did the trick, maybe it was that Yosemite needed time to adjust to its new environment, regardless, there was some improvement.
I think there is an issue with Yosemite and WiFi that causes the TX Rate to drop more than with Mavericks as the distance from Router increases. Does not sound logical, but that is what the connection stats are saying!
