Snake javascript game - help!
Hi guys,
I have to create the good old game of snake which can be found on mobile phones.
I have 9 main tasks to complete, and am inexperienced with Java so would love any feedback!
Have to first write table cells to fill out the general area for the game, I think this will be fairly easy, using the document.write method inside a for loop. I then have to add keyboard controls to move the pixel around the area.
The next stage is to move the pixel automatically in one direction, I think the window.setTimeout method can be used here, not too sure how to implement it though. When it reaches the boundary, the pixel must be stopped. These 2 stages then have to be combined so that the pixel moves automatically until it either changes direction through a click of an arrow key of it hits the boundary. Next is to add a popup notifying that the snake has hit the boundary and stop the timeout. Then the snake has to grow each time it comes in contact with a single fixed pixel which moves everytime it comes in contact.
Those are the main stages I have to complete, any help would be greatly appreciated, code, links to examples, anything like that,
Thanks everyone!
yeah.. java is much different than javascript. but I was seriously bored, so I took 45mins and coded a snake script that kinda.. plays by itself. I didnt code it according to your instructions cuz.. I dont code people's homework :\. anyway it should give you a big boost:

Javascript games that work in IE don't work in Firefox - why?
Why can't I get javascript games that work in IE to work in Firefox? The javascript games show up on the page but not in the correct format and the scripts don't work. An example is here: http://www.cornwallfoodandfarming.net/games/KS1-summer-in-farm3/picture-memory.htm
When you open it in IE you can see what it should do!
Any help gratefully received. Cheers...PaulThat particular game was created a long time ago... in the age of Netscape version 4.
Netscape version 4 had proprietary objects named layers that are no longer supported in Firefox, so the game fails because it assumes that Firefox supports layers. You can see this if you open Tools > Error Console and scroll to the end of the long list after clicking the link to start the game.
If you think the developers of this site might be willing to update the game, let them know about this problem.
If not, and the game is very important to you, you could try Chris Pederick's User Agent Switcher extension (Tools > Add-ons > Get Add-ons) to make Firefox temporarily masquerade as an old version of Internet Explorer. There's no guarantee that will make the game work in Firefox, but it has a better chance than what you get now. -
Access to javascript training help?
There is a developer section of the Adobe site that has some information I need but when I tried to log into it and it said "Insufficient privileges (HTTP 403 error)You are not authorized to view this content"
Does anyone know how I might gain access to this area? https://partners.adobe.com/asn/developer/training/acrobat/javascript/main.htmlJust create a new Adobe ID

Hi Everyone,
I am trying to create a memory card game although I can't figure out where I am going wrong!! Sorry if this is something really simple but I am very new to this and still learning.
The cards are coming up as a 'matching' pair even when they are different. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance! :-)

Plz help with snake-like game..
hi.
i am new to java and want to programm a kind of worm-game where there are multiple worms, each different color and when your worm (you can choose your direction by pressing left and right button) crashes in something, that isnt the clear background (worms or the border rectangle) then it should stop. so my problem is:
how can I get the program to know, that the worm has crashed into something?
i think the easiest solution would be, if I could determine the Color of a specific Pixel on the canvas (i am using a canvas for the playfield).
or another solution could be that if i could determine, wheter the Pixel is an element of the worm or the rectangle (dont think this is possible).
somebody wrote in an earlier question that i should use the buffered image class. im currently trying to do so.
another big problem is, that it has to be very fast. its a problem that i have to, in order to show the animation, repaint the canvas every 30 milisecs or so (im using a thread). is there a possibility to only redraw the worms? (im using g2d lines as "worms", that are beeing added every animation another line)
THX VERY MUCH FOR HELPING!!First of all, thx for trying to help!
well.. its a different kind of snake game: the starting point of the snake always stays the same. this means, that the snake grows longer and longer, without the butt moving behind the snake, but staying in the same position.
so, if i'd try to put all those lines into an array (every line of the snake is very small, it is been added every 30 millisecs another line) this array would explode, and this would not be a very fast or elegant solution. so i think it must be possible to read the Color of a single pixel, the pixel, where the snake moves next... so that if the color would be other than the background color, it should stop, because the snake must have been crashed into something.
so.. i posted this into an earlier thread and somebody said the class BufferedImage and its method getRGB() should help. im currently trying to do so, but it doesnt work.
i cant seem to get the data from the JPanel (where i am drawing the snakes (i think thats the problem)) into the bufferedimage.. anyone could help, please?
here is some code from the game:
CODE
BufferedImage bi = new BufferedImage(505,505,BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB);
CurrentBackgroundRGB = bi.getRGB((int)(Worm1.xStart+Worm1.x),(int)(Worm1.yStart+Worm1.y));
if(HintergrundRGB != BackgroundCol.getRGB())this.interrupt();
end CODE
"this" is the current thread of the animation
I think the problem is obvious: how can i get the Buffered image to check the data from my JPanel? -
Unknown problem with JSP, JavaScript - Pls help
Hi Friends,
I am facing a strange problem. Explained it below. Kindly help me as it is really affecting my work. Thanks in advance.
I am working on building a web application using jsp, servlet, ejb. the IDE used is WSAD 5.1.2.
I have the below :
1 JSP - Input page - for user input entry
2. Java script1 - For all client side validations
Java script2 - For handling the data submission to servlet (as selected by user)
Javascript3 - Header & Menu Bar
3 Servlet - This actually retrieves the values from the hidden parameters, sets them in session and redirects the control back to the jsp.
Logic for one small iteration : Two drop downs are there. On selecting the first drop down the second drop down should be populated and the first drop down should display the user selected value.
1. When the user selects the first drop down onchange() event gets fired which calls a method in the javascript.
2. In the javascript I set the value of a hidden form field to the selected combo index and submit the form to the servlet
3. In the servlet, I retrieve the hidden request parameter (Index),
set the index in session. Do my business logic based on the value of the index. Set the collection (to be displayed) in second drop down in session.
4. Send the response back to the JSP.
5. In the JSP, we have a method which is called during the onload() event of the body
6. This method sets the user selected values in appropriate controls(by taking from session)
Problem faced: I have a javascript which creates the menu bar for my application and this i've included it in my jsp. I dont know whats wrong with this javascript, when it is commented out the page works perfectly fine. Both the user selected value and the collection are loaded exactly as expected. But when it is included the collection is loaded in the second drop down but the selected index of the first drop down is not set - the drop down gets reset to the default value.
Also on body load of my jsp, I call a javascript method which sets the current date in one text field of my form. Even this is not working fine when I include this javascript. I don't see any script error in this javascript in my browser though. Strange but guess something basic :(
I'm sure there is nothing to do with session. I've tried printing the entire flow. The Servlet sets the values correctly in session and they are also correctly available in the JSP page. The JSP also gets loaded with the user selected values but something happens on page load which clears the values to default.
Am also confused in what way javascript is related to this, coz when I remove it things are working fine.
Am really helpless here pls do the needful. any help is appreciated.
Header.js [which includes the menu bar code]

Page Fragment and javascript - need help please
Hi all..
I have a page fragment (being used as a header) and am trying to get a text field in this page fragment to recieve a value from a javascript (that is embeded in the page fragment).. see the example below..
--------------PageFragment1----------------------------------
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<div style="-rave-layout: grid; width: 400px; height: 200px" xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" xmlns:ui="http://www.sun.com/web/ui">
<f:subview id="Fragment1">
<ui:textField binding="#{Fragment1.textField1}" id="textField1" style="position: absolute; left: 180px; top: 30px; width: 165px; height: 15px">
<SCRIPT>
var d = new Date();
document.getElementById("Fragment1:textField1").value = d.toLocaleString();
</SCRIPT>
</ui:textField>
</f:subview>
</div>
My problem is that doesn't matter what I do I cannot set the textField1 value from the script. For the actual application it does need to be a javascript - does anyone know how to do this on a page fragment as opposed to a plain page...
The actual error I get is on the client side and it states that document.getElementById is null... :( someone please help.
Thanks in advance.You probably need to prepend "form1:" to the id (or whatever your form's id is) One sure fire way to figure this out is choose view source in your browser and search for the target field.

I'm trying to modify some JavaScript. Right now, you click on
a thumbnail of an image and a larger version of the image appears
in a larger box to the right.
I would like to change the thumbnail to text, so clicking on
the text will change the image in the box.
The html looks like this:
<a href="javascript:swapPhoto('clay_tile1.jpg','Spanish
style clay tile')"><img src="pictures/clay_tile1_53x40.jpg"
width="100" height="40" border="0" />
The JavaScript looks like this:
// swap image and caption
function swapPhoto(photoSRC,theCaption,thePrice) {
var displayedCaption = document.getElementById("caption");
displayedCaption.firstChild.nodeValue = theCaption;
document.images.imgPhoto.src = "pictures/" + photoSRC;
Here's an example of a page I built using the thumbnails:
www.connoisseurslateandtile.com/gallery.html
I'm trying to learn some JavaScript, but my eyes keep glazing
over.
Thank you for your help,
Denny:AHi,
Don't use the single quotes for the function argument while calling the function.
EX:
<html>
<script type="text/javascript">
function fun(str)
document.write(str);
var name="anand's birthday";
fun(name);
</script>
</html>
Best of luck,

this is my current code it works ok, but i need a bit of help with when they get it right, and I have to start converting it to graphical in Borland Jbuilder.
import java.io.*;
import java.util.*;
public class Numb{
public static void main (String [] args){
//Game State
int magicNumb = Math.abs(new Random().nextInt() % 100) + 1;
//Output instructions
System.out.println("I Feel Numb!");
System.out.print("Do you feel Loved? Y/N");
//Read from input
InputStreamReader inStream = new InputStreamReader(System.in);
BufferedReader keyboard = new BufferedReader(inStream);
String line = null;
try{
line=keyboard.readLine();
}catch(IOException ioe){}
boolean acrobat = true;
//If they pressed y let them play
if(line.equalsIgnoreCase("y")){
//Game stuff goes here
System.out.println("Don't Expect Suggest a NUMBer between 1 and 100");
System.out.print("Enter a guess:");
//LOOP
while (acrobat=true){
//Read user input
{try{
line=keyboard.readLine();
}catch(IOException ioe){}
//Convert the inpt to an int value
int guess = (int)Integer.parseInt(line);
//If Right
if (guess==magicNumb)
System.out.println("Green Light Seven Eleven You stop in for a pack of cigaretes");
acrobat=false;
//If too High
if (guess>magicNumb)
System.out.println("Too Much is Not Enough");
//If too Low
if (guess<magicNumb)
System.out.println("Gimme Some more, Gimme some more");}
}Ok what i need help with is when they get the
integer, i need to either state another message and
quit, or give them the option to play again?Okay, so, your overall code structure will look something like this: do {
play();
again = askIfPlayAgain();
} while again;
void play() {
do {
ask for a guess
give answer
} while (incorrect);
} You don't have to use do/while. Plain old while will work.
The main points are:
1) You need two loops. The inner one keeps going within one round until they guess correctly, and the outer one keeps starting new rounds until they quit.
2) You should break the problem down into smaller, more elemental pieces, rather than stuffing everything into one big blob in main.
#1 will help you solve this problem, but #2 is an absolutely essential skill to learn. -

I have two radio buttons with corresponding text boxes for input, when one is chosen I am disabling the text box for the other, is there a way to "gray out" the disabled text box using background-color or something? Any help is greatly appreciated, nothing I've tried has worked. Right now my onClick looks like this:
onClick=javascript:document.UserReg." + TEXT_ACCOUNT_NBR + ".disabled=truePavel,
The NULLing part isn't working. I have the submit as you suggested and when the checkbox is clicked the fields populate at expected, however, when I uncheck the checkbox the fields are not clearing.
Here's what I have:
document.getElementById('P1_BILL_COMPANY').value = "";
document.getElementById('P1_BILL_ATTENTION').value = "";
document.getElementById('P1_BILL_ADDRESS').value = "";
document.getElementById('P1_BILL_CITY').value = "";
document.getElementById('P1_BILL_STATE').value = "";
document.getElementById('P1_BILL_ZIP').value = "";
document.getElementById('P1_BILL_PHONE').value = "";
I have also tried NULL, null, and two single quotes ''.
What am I doing wrong with this part?
Thanks,
Joe -

I am using Javascript to make a little small gallery
I have called this in the <head> of the page
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">

mybar+=imgheight;
window.open(strURL, 'newWin', mybar);
//-->

In the <BODY> of the page I am calling this to call
every photo
<div align="center"><A class="photo1"

onclick="newWin(this.href,330,460);return false;"
target="first_window"><img src="gallery/tn_20.jpg"
