Snap file is created automatically on my SharePoint database ?
Hi,
On My SharePoint Database a snap file is created which consumes lots of space and the performance of server is degraded.
The snap file is created automatically and its also removed automatically after 1 day.
I am new to SQL and won't find any scheduled task for snap file under SQL .
I had checked on technet and won't find an appropriate solution, why snapshot file is created.
The SQL server version is 2008 R2 and SharePoint version is 2013.
Also due to snap file sometime I am unable to take backup of database with DPM (Data Protection Manager).
Thanks,
Nadeem A
Hi Nadeem Ansari,
A take Snapshot operation creates .vmdk, -delta.vmdk, vmsd, and vmsn files. You should ensure the type of snapshots file.According to your description, the snapshot file was created automatically, and there are no any scheduled task for the snap file in
SQL Server instance. As other post, you need to verify if there is a job about back up your back up a database to a snapshot in SharePoint Server by using SQL Server tools. And verify if the snapshot file was created by others, and if it is file system snapshots
file.
For more information about snapshot files, you can review the following article.

Sharepoint Online - File Associations - Create association for .sql files in SPO365
I maintain a document library as a script repository with .sql scripts. we refer to these often for operational processes.
unfortunately, we are currently only given the option to download these files from SharePoint Online.
Is it possible to create an association in SharePoint Online to have these files preview as text or to at least open them in SSMS or Notepad.
caveat = we dont want to change the default OS association for these files. SSMS is fine for the desktop, but in SPO365 a text viewer would be ideal as it would most easlily facilitate a copy and paste.
Thanks

Scott DavisHi,
According to your description, when you removed the Read List and Read Item operations and created them back based off of the view and recreated the external list, you saw all the columns you wanted.
Then you can modify view to choose the columns which you want to display.
The issue is, now the item picker and other operations that did not change seem to be going off of the view.
Do you mean that when you add/edit the item, it still displays the foreign key column in the list view?

Creating automatically "OracleBI Spreadsheet Add-In" files (Excel files)
I have the necessity of create automatically an excel file with a query to a multidimensional model (ROLAP Cube). It exists any API for a programation language that makes easy this process of creation?
How "OracleBI Spreadsheet Add-In" saves the metadata in the excel file, for example, the information about the database (host name, database name), dimensions and measures selected by the user when a query is made with the "Query Builder"?
It is possible to share any information about this subject?
Thanks!!!
Rui TorresI exported to xml an excel file with a query, that was produced by the âQuery Builderâ, and it is true that the metadata that contains the information about the database, dimensions and measures selected, is specified in xml and is stored in hidden sheets.
My problem is not to create an excel file (create sheets, write in the cells,...) because it exists some apis that do this kind of operations.
My difficulty, is to produce the xml metadata, that is defined by Oracle, and contains the information that is used by "OracleBI Spreadsheet Add-In" to put the data in the cells of an excel sheet.
What I want to know is, for example, if exists any kind of function that receives the name of the host, the name of the database, the owner of the cube, the cube name and all the options that we can choose in the âQuery Builderâ (measures and dimensions that we want, the disposition of the dimensions - layout), and return a String with the Oracleâs xml metadata.
With this xml metadata that is returned, I am prepared to create an excel file, that have the functionality of to connect to a database, and get the data that is stored in it.
Thanks!!!

How do I automatically delete a .ps file after creating a pdf?
Hi all! I vaguley remember in the past that there is a preference to automatically delete a .ps file after creating a pdf. Can someone remind me of how to do this? I'm using Distiller version 9.2.0. Thank you so much!
Julie
PS: I'm creating the .ps file from Quark 7, if that makes a difference.I am unaware of any feature allowing automatic delete of .PS files.
The adobePDF print driver which has been removed in OSX.6.x (Snow Leopard) That you choose when ina Document would go through the following steps in the background this made it slow.
create .ps File (hidden)
Checksum Verify the .ps File
Open Distiller in background (hidden)
Create Pdf
Checksum Verify the .pdf File
shut down Distiller in Backgroun (hidden)
Delete .ps File (hidden)
Pdf suddenly appears
If at any point in this chain something dies the pdf was not made.
Actually in prior OS to X.3.x the print driver provided for my Hp Inkjet, it was actually better to go to print menu, and choose save as postscript, then drop the postsript file on distiller and creat the PDF. or just open the ps in Acrobat.
with the PRint Drive provided for my HP Inkjet for X.3 it was changed to create Postcsript file from PDF. In the start having the PDF button on print menu. The pdf's were not as good as those created in the AdobePDF driver. But were aceptable for most purposes. -
Powershell, design manager, uploading html file not creating associated master page file
I am uploading a xyz.html file through powershell for 2 site collections, when .html file is uploaded and published it automatically creates xyz.master file. It is working fine for not publishing sites collection only, for publishing site collection .html file
is uploaded successfully but it is not creating associated .master file. If I close powershell console and run again it works successfully.
another interesting thing I noticed that if I specify "spadmin" account which I used to install sharepoint as site collection primary administrator, all works well, currently I am using "spsiteCollection" account for primary site collection
administrator and I am having above mentioned issue.
powershell script is also running with spadmin account.
I have ensured .html is checked in and publish properly, If I manually unpublish and publish .html file it creates .mater file. What could be the issue?Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you have an issue about upload html file to master page gallery.
I have used the PowerShell contains in the codeplex to upload the files to master page gallery, it works without any issue.
https://uploadmasterpages.codeplex.com/
You can check your PowerShell with this article, or use this bat file to upload directly to check whether it works.

Can I use RS.exe to create the folders in Sharepoint-Integrated Reporting service?
Hello All,
Recently, I am using rs.exe and .rss files to publish my reports to SharePoint-Integrated Reporting Service.
The outstanding issue is, it cannot create non-existing folders for me automatically. I have to created the folder manually.
Thinking BIDS "Deploy" function can make folder creating happen, why the RS.exe doesn't support so?
Does anyone know how to change .rss and rs files to make folders creating automatically.
E.g. If I pass in "ParentFolder" and it doesn't exist on SharePoint, then RS.exe can create the folder first then deploy the RDL files under that folder.
DerekHi Derek,
In SSRS, we can use .rss files to publish our reports to a new folder. Please refer to the following script:
Dim definition As [Byte]() = Nothing
Dim warnings As Warning() = Nothing
Dim destinationFolder As String = "DemoReports"
Dim reportsTargetPath As String = "/" + destinationFolder
Dim reportsSourcePath As String = "C:\Demo"
Dim datasourceName As String = "DataSource1"
‘Create the destination Folder
Try
rs.CreateFolder(destinationFolder,”/”, Nothing)
Console.WriteLine("Parent folder {0} created successfully", destinationFolder)
CreateReportDataSource(datasourceName, "SQL", "Data Source=.;Initial Catalog= AdventureWorksDW2012")
Catch e As Exception
Console.WriteLine("Tasks completed successfully.”)
End Try
You can refer to the script in the following blog.

Facing error while creating PerformancePoint Dashboard in SharePoint 2013?
Hi All,
I am not able to create Performance Point Dashboard site in SharePoint 2013, while creating facing this error:
Runtime Error
Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however,
be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.
Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application.
This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".
<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->
<configuration>
<system.web>

</system.web>
</configuration>
Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.
<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->
<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
</system.web>

Power View RDLX File Format - Connect to Source in SharePoint
I am currently trying to Open (and Edit) a Power View Report which i create on Excel, on my System, and then Upload with the workbook on SharePoint.
I have followed the following Tutorial in Order to accomplish this:
Configure Excel Services data refresh - External Data Source
After doing so, i was able to succesfully open my First Sheet (Power Pivot Sheet) from the Excel Workbook which i had uploaded, i noticed something about a Trusted File Location with the Excel Service on Central Admin (SharePoint) one had to Configure, i
did that as well,
but whenever i press the Power View Sheet, i get the following Error Message:
(-Used to get this error for the PowerPivot Sheet as well, but that got fixed after solving everything as said in the Tutorial, but it still remains whenever i open the Power View Sheet)
Which basically reads:
Error while refreshing external Data
The Data Connection File used
in the Workbook
DataSource.odc
Does not provide for a
Trusted Storing Location.
Error refreshing data from
TabularModel (Basically the Connection Name of the Connection created in Excel (and afterwards exported as DataSource.odc on SharePoint)
At least one Data Connection
in this Workbook could
not be refreshed, the following
Connection could not be refreshed
TabularModel
Has anybody ever been able to Upload a Power View Report, Created on Excel, to SharePoint, and connect that to a External Datasource ?
in the MSDN Tutorial, they said this was possible through this exported .ODC Connection file, but it only work good for PowerPivot and other Excel stuff, not Power View
Thanks a lot for your Help in Advance, always deeply appreciatedInteresting. Please review this documentation and see if it helps:

Creating new folder in sharepoint
Hi - I am using Office 2013 and using the "Save as" function in Word want to create a new folder on the SharePoint site. there does not seem to be any way to do this through the "save as" dialog process. The "new folder" option
only seems to be available for saving on the local hard drive. It seems I need to go into file explorer, create a new folder and then go back into Word to save to it.
Thanks - TimHi,
A quick hack for this if you use the same document library over and over is to map a network drive to the library, then when you save to the network drive (and thus the document library) you'll see the new folder option available and working.
A second method, would be to click on the address bar in the save as dialog, remove the "http:" and change "/" to "\". For instance:
http://mysite/personal/iedaddy
would become
\\mysite\personal\iedaddy
and then magically the Organize and New Folder menu bar appears, interestingly this method will also allow you to add new folders even to libaries with the "New Folder" option explicitly turned off.
A similar problem can be found here:

No Planning file entry created for the Rervation
Hi PM Gurus,
When we create a maintenance order, for the component the Reservation is created. The components is externally procured with the some planned delivery dates. but during the MRP run these Planned Orders are not converted to PReqs automatically. checking the planning file entry there in no planning file entry created therefore MRP has not considered it.
Now we are using MD15 to collectively convert the Planned Orders to PReqs.
The Item category of these spare parts are "L". Please suggest if what configurations are to be checked, maintained in order for MRP generate the PReqs from the Planned Orders.
Thanks,
NagHi,
MRP does not convert planned orders into purchase requisitions. MRP creates one of the procurement proposals, planned orders or purchase requisitions, according to the parameters you run it. Check out the parameters of your MRP run, you need to select create purchase requisitions and delete old procurement proposals to fulfill your requirement.
Regards.
