SNMP monitoring for EoMPLS virtual circuit

I am looking to implement SNMP-based monitoring of an MPLS layer-2 tunnel. The desired result would be the same as the output from the following command:
"sh mpls l2transport vc"
I have configured the router to generate SNMP traps based on LDP changes, but this is not specific to the status of the EoMPLS tunnel.
Thanks in advance.

Polling to these MIB values would have your task accomplished.
1) VC status <--> cpwVcOperStatus
2) If you need outbound staus <--> pwVcInboundOperStatus
3) Inbound status <--> cpwVcOutboundOperStatus
And here is the link for list of MIB objects for L2VPN.

There are some threads in this forum regarding this already. It is not as easy as monitoring a switch or router. the controllers combine the AP mac with the oid for unique lines. You can glean some snmp info off the controllers by using some of the generic OIDs and controller specific OIDs, but you will need an snmp monitoring program that you can load the WLC MIBs into and then tailor your monitoring of the controller based on that. I use Cacti, which is really awesome, but I would need to grab the complete OID off each controller based on the APs on it, which is fine as long as the AP is on that particular controller and not another one. snmpwalk is your friend in this case.

    Hi,
we use a snmp monitoring software called Nagios in our LAN. Now we have two WLC 4404. Is it possible to monitor values via snmp? Is someone else doing it so?
Witch values can be monitored and for what values is it wise or practicable to monitor it?

  • Wait event "virtual circuit wait" in wait class "Network" was consuming sig

    Hello,
We are facing this problem when there are 2 queries try to run at the same time.
The first query takes longer to finish so 2nd has to wait for 1st to be finished and then only 2nd starts. It seems the jam is at netowork instead of server.
I want to make sure before I start testing on network.
    I get following :
Wait event "virtual circuit wait" in wait class "Network" was consuming significant database time. 98.4
Wait class "Network" was consuming significant database time.
and recommendations is stated as :
Investigate the cause for high "virtual circuit wait" waits with P1 ("circuit#") value "21" and P2 ("type") value "2".
    I am checking OEM.
    Thanks,

  • What does the event "virtual circuit wait" mean?

    Hi all !
Can anyone tell me about this event? Yesterday I checked my ASH table and found that most of the time database spends on are 2 "non-idle" events: "db file sequential read" and "virtual circuit wait". I did not find any information about the second event on Metalink or in Documentation. Do i need to pay my attention to this event? DB is 11g on HP-UX.
    Thanks in advance!

The Oracle Reference has descriptions of wait events:
    [Virtual Circuit Wait|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e10820/waitevents003.htm#BABBCJEF]
The session waits for a virtual circuit operation to complete.Wait Time: 30 seconds

circuit#      Indicates the virtual circuit# being waited on
type      Indicates the type of operation the session is waiting for

  • Recommended product for syslogging and snmp monitoring

    Hi,
We currently use KIWI syslog but can anyone recommend a better product for syslogs from Firewalls, Routers and Switches. Our current product creates a seperate text file per day per device. Ideally I would like all these to be combined (or combinable for display purposes) into one log that shows to update realtime and have the ability to filterout "background noise" - stuff we know is acceptable, as well as being able to run simple or quick searches and reports. Ideally for asbout 200+ devices.
Am I too hopeful or is there a product out there that can do this (that also will not break my companies bank account).
Also, recommended products for SNMP monitoring if better than we currently use would be useful - currently using Orion and SNMPc.
    Regards
    Adrian

    Adrian,
We use syslog-ng for RHEL. It can do what you need as far as writing to files and filtering out background noise, but it is not a search/reporting tool. If KIWI does the latter, I imagine you could tell it to read from the file that syslog-ng creates.
It is open source for writing files through version 3.1.4. Later versions require licensing to write to files or if you are using a Windows OS.

  • Virtual Monitor for VNC Client/Remote (Increase Avail. Screen Size)

    Now:
I have multiple Macs in my home. From time to time, I use a desktop Mac with a larger monitor to "Screenshare" work off of another Mac's (laptop) HDD. (It's the primary base of my files.)
    Screen Size and Resolution:
    Laptop 13" - 1280x800
    Desktop 19" - 1680x1050
    Goal:
I would like to have a "Virutal Monitor" on the 13" Laptop so that I can take advantage of the increased screen real estate on the Desktop's 19" Display. When I have a 2nd Display connected to the 13" MacBook Pro, it has the benefit of the larger display accessible.
    Questions:
Is there a way to easily fake the MacBook Pro into having a virtual monitor? Available to all of OS X including Spaces/Expose/Screen Sharing?
So I could use Settings to drag the primary system bar over to the virtual monitor, for when I am working on the remote Mac?
-OR- Should I ask how to SSH into my machine and use its resources without the screen sending taking up bandwidth? Does Apple Remote Desktop do something like this?
Your help and tips are appreciated!

I'd like to do something similar so would be interested if you've found a way of doing this?

    Hii..
In the metalink note ID 6653834.8
This is a performance monitoring enhancement to split the
'virtual circuit status' wait event into two new
    wait events:
"shared server idle wait" - for when the shared server is
idle waiting for something to do
"virtual circuit wait" - for when the shared server is
    blocked waiting on a specific
    circuit / message
The wait "virtual circuit status" no longer exist with this fix.

I'm trying to set up a dual monitor for my new iMac. I'm using a second display I used with my old G5. My iMac recognizes the second monitor but the monitor won't turn on. Power button doesn't do anything on the monitor itself.

If it won't turn on then the monitor is dead (power supply?, video circuits?).  Not worth repairing.
If you have a new iMac then it has thunderbolt.  So exactly what is that monitor you are trying to connect?  For TB you can connect a mini-displayport monitor.   Probably (not 100% sure with TB) can use dvi or vga too if you have the appropriate adapter.

  • Use 2008 iMac as second monitor for pc laptop

I have a 2008 iMac and wish to use it as a second monitor for my wife's laptop.  I originally bought a mini display port to vga adaptor cable and realized that it would not work.  I have to go back and buy the mini DVI to vga adapter cable to use it.  But in scouring the google links - I saw that it might not work.  It had said for 2011 and above it might, but did not mention earlier models.  I could use some direction.  If it not possible, I would rather not go and buy a new cable and try.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks  .

  • Using old G5 as large screen monitor for new MacBook

Would I be able to use an old G5 as a large screen monitor for a MacBook or Mac Mini, using a VNC protocol such as ScreenRecycler (or another). If so, to what degree would the G5 OS have to be functional, i.e., if the video card and speakers are OK, but the OS is corrupted, could the G5 be used just as a monitor powered by the other device? I suspect the answer might be that it depends on what's corrupted; if so, how do I determine the G5's capability as only a monitor? Thanks!

In the traditional sense, the iMac G5 cannot be used as a "monitor" because it does not have video input.
I use ScreenRecycler. Here's how it works. Normally, if you use the built-in screen sharing feature of Mac OS X or run third-party VNC server software, you can view that Mac's screen in a window on another Mac (or any computer) using a VNC client program. That's regular screen sharing.
ScreenRecycler acts as the VNC server software, except it creates a virtual second screen and serves it to any VNC client program. You can change the resolution and arrangement of that virtual second screen using System Preferences Displays pane, as you would with any real second display. It is actually very clever.
In your case, the iMac G5 would be running the VNC client program (such as the developer's own JollysFastVNC) and displaying a window that shows that virtual second screen. When you make the program display it in full screen mode, the iMac G5 simulates a second display.
So to answer your question, the iMac G5 would need to be fully functional in terms of the OS, because it has to be running normally in order to run the VNC client program. It is not running in some special different display mode; it is operating like a normal Mac and just pretending to be the second display for another Mac. And it should work well using an iMac G5 because a wired network connection (be sure to use a Cat-5e or better cable) will be at gigabit speeds. You can try the program in limited-time demo mode for free.

  • Disable monitoring for non-system disks.

    Hi all,
Our backup server dynamically mounts disks (with drive letters) when it's backing up a Virtual Machine.
These disks are giving a lot of alerts in our monitoring that we don't need, therefore we want to disable monitoring for these disks. What is the best way to disable monitoring for these non-system disks ? As I said, these disks are dynamically mounted and
    unmounted ...
Any experience with this case ?
    Kind Regards,
    J. Monnens

This is a bit surprising, since the logical disk discovery only runs once a day, plus it's not supposed to discover network and removable drives.
That means that your disks are mounted when the discovery runs and that they appear as "real" logical disks...
Unfortunately there is no "sync time" parameter for this discovery, which would have allowed you to specify the time of the day at which the discovery runs; thus allowing you to set a time at which you know the drives are not mounted.
Is there any other parameter that could help identifying these specific disks, besides their letter, so you could add them to a dynamic group?
Otherwise, what you could maybe try is to create your own logical disk discovery based on the native one, but with specific settings that would exclude your drives and then disable the native discovery.
But this again implies that you have something that would let you identify specifically your mounted drives... Also the native discovery is a quite complex VBS, I wouldn't actually recommend disabling/modifiying it.
Maybe I could have another idea with more details about your environment...

  • Technical Monitoring for Logical host name

    Dear experts,
We are in mid of technical monitoring finalisation.
one of the interesting thing which i found with respect to the logical host name, we installed SMD agent on Virtual host name and our system is not with HA environment and no clustering. It is just a system with single instance.
During the managed system configuration all the physical and logical host name reported by SMD autodiscovery, all went fine. But in Technical monitoring shows only virtual host name with the updated alerts , and logical host name only shows grey alert.
    virtual host shows alert here
    logical host name shows grey
how can i get alert displayed for logical host name too? do i need to do some settings at the OS level , could you guide us?
    Thanks

    Hi Giri Raju Ayyagari,
I am sorry, seems you are still not able to get my issue, moreover you get diverting my issue
Here the problem is not at all related to agents on fly. thats the separate topic.
We are having issue on Logical Host names where there is no HA environment, means only One logical host name created.
I raised to SAP, l will update once the update from SAP given.
