SNMP, netToFlash problems.

Hi,
We have a problem sending larger files (ios in this case) to a c2960 switch via snmp over TFTP. We can however, send configuration files to the switch via snmp over TFTP. We have also tried different hardware, which also means different software in this case, but we are get the same result. while debuging the output for tftp on the switches we can see that the TFTP session breaks at block 128, see image bellow. However if we issue the copy tftp: flash: command the switch successfully downloads the IOS.
The SNMP command: snmpset -r 100 -t 100 -v 2c -c COMMUNITY x.x.x.x 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.10.12.y.y.y.y s filename
x=switch name
y=TFTP server name
filename = ios
Is there any restriction to SNMP that would block larger files?

It will not be possible this way. Copying configuration to and fro use CISCO-CONFIG-COPY-MIB, whereas copying IOS files usesOLD-CISCO-FLASH-MIB .
It is for devices which support or have Flash. This MIB is deprecated and old, the new MIB used now is CISCO-FLASH-MIB.
There are new variables and OIDs which can be used. Though I am sure it should support other File systesm as well, as devices now have multiple FS, but, I will have to test it further, there are no documents available, unfortunately.
OIDs are :
copyToFlashWithoutErase         CopyProtocol
                                CopyServerAddress
                                CopySourceName
                                CopyDestinationName (opt)
                                CopyRemoteUserName (opt)
                                CopyNotifyOnCompletion (opt)

    help out of this plezz

    Hi,
    I have the same problem.
    Any ideas? Thanks a lot!!
    Hi,
    I'm having a problem with my SNMP subagent. If I leave
    it running overnight with no polling or trapping, the
    library will eventually exit with the message:
    select() failed [errno: Invalid argument(22)]
    ... It doesn't signal or anything, just exits.
    My agent_select_info callback is as follows:
    void agent_select_info(fd_set fdset, int numfds)
    FD_SET(g_sockfd, fdset);
    *numfds = FD_SETSIZE;
    ... where FD_SETSIZE == 1024.

  • SG500P SNMP Set Problems

    I've been struggling with trying to use snmpset on a SG500P on any OID.  I'm pretty confident I've setup everything properly on the community for writing with DefaultSuper as the group and All for management station.  When I try to set I look at the logs:
    Warning
    %SNMP-W-SNMPAUTHFAIL: Access attempted by unauthorized NMS
    I assume it is not liking the management station but it is set properly.  Am I missing something or is this a bug/known issue?
    Thanks!

    So after some time struggling I found that it was a personal issue... apparently I fat fingered the write community name in my mib browser tool which ****** it out and it took me a while to go back and try that!
    If anyone ever trying to get this working I learned plenty while I tried getting it to take the commands so ping me and I'll share some knowledge.

  • SNMP counter problem

    Hi,
    i configured management program to poll
    MIB OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.19.1.1.4(cpmActiveDS0s;The number of DS0s that are currently in use.)
    Everything ok and i got what i want. But some polled routers increment counter and values rises day by day. After router's reboot  it is cleared but after few days it show faked data.
    How to fix it?
    Best regards,
    Mike

    There is too long list of bugs for cpmActiveDS0s not sending either correct information. Some of them are :
    CSCsd25584    cpmActiveDS0s increasing all the time, not given a real value
    CSCee71760    ISDN calls not counted in E1 call-counters, cpmActiveDS0s incorrect
    CSCee71760 ISDN calls not counted in E1 call-counters, cpmActiveDS0s incorrect
    CSCee79553 TEA ISDN calls not counted in E1 call-counters, cpmActiveDS0s  incorrect
    there are some more. Please check your specific IOS per teh bug description.

  • SNMP Vulnerability with master_peer

    I understand that the SNMP vulnerability problem with master_peer can cause DoS and allow the possibility of arbitrary code being executed. Is this correct?
    (The Oracle Security Alert document, see url below, does not mention the "arbitrary code being executed" problem.)
    In addition, is any risk to the database itself or is this isolated to the SNMP monitoring only? That is will a DoS attack on master_peer impact the database in any way.

    Hi,
    Iplanet does not support for it's products being installed on linux or snmp for linux.

  • Cannot add WLC 5508 to Prime Infrastructure 2.1

    Regards,
    I've been migrating / implementing a WCS to PI 2.1. I had several problems at first to add the 11 WLC we have to PI which I could be solving by trying and testing as I have not found many references by Cisco when it comes to troubleshooting when deploying PI.
    I have several queries:
    1. The WCS was added 11 WLC using different SNMP communities are configured on each of them. At first when trying to add the WLC had PI SNMP communication problems. I performed the test to eliminate any of the WLC added to WCS and add it again with some communities already existing R / W without any problem. At the end, I could not add the WLC so I had to create an SNMP community with the IP of Prime in the WLC so that they can be added. Does anyone know what is the cause of this?
    2. I could not add a WLC 5508 IOS 7.3 using this method, even creating an SNMP community and IP mask 0.0.0.0 / 0. No access list or FW in between the WLC These WLC are spread over several countries but i was able to add the other WLC adding a community in each WLC pointing to the IP of Prime. It is similar to this case:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/12232506/cannot-add-wlc-5508-v761200-prime-infrastructure-21
    Thanks for the help.

    It turns out that this situation was caused by a bug in 7.6.120.0 (CSCuo73572).
    TAC handed me an escalation image (7.6.120.16) that fixed this.
    Added the controllers sucessfully on the first try.

  • IMS 5.2: smtp server hangs

    Running on Solaris 8, the smtp server seems to hang every few days, with the result that mail for my site ends up being hung up for hours until we restart the process.
    Is this a known bug?! Any way to fix it?
    It doesn't make iMS a very attractive solution for an enterprise that relies heavily on email.

    Hello,
    I know that there has been a number of fixes on solaris as well as NT since Feb dist. Here is what I have of the bugfixes, there may have been more since this hotfix. If you have a license you should be able to ask sun support for the latest hotfix.

  • Some problems with snmp catalyst monitoring (sensor values)

    Good day for all.
    Recently in our company was installed some snmp monitoring tool, so now I try to configure it to collect some OID's information.
    Now i have some bewilderment on some OIS's values:
    1. cswSwitchPowerBudget that's OID is 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.500.1.2.1.1.9. On all Cisco devices (C3750-X,C2950,C2960) that monitored now it's value is correct and equal 230V, but we have one stack of C2960S and it's value is 0!
    2. monitoring of entitySensorMIB get some unclear results, so on all C3750-X the amper sensor show value of 60, but on one of them value is 80. This problemable switch is not stacked and haven't high load and no PoE. Also noise sensors on two C3750-X show over 40dBm, but when i go into rooms they are placed i hear that noice is very low.

  • PRI monitoring problem with SNMP

    Hello
    I'm having some problems with PRI monitoring.
    I'm using cpmDS1ActiveDS0 MIB on a 3800 VoIP gateway with 4 PRI (2x2) (IOS 12.4(4)T1)
    1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.19.1.1.9.1.3.0.0 - I can see PRI 0/0/0 total number of calls
    1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.19.1.1.9.1.3.0.1 - I can see PRI 0/0/1 total number of calls
    1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.19.1.1.9.1.3.1.0 - Error
    1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.19.1.1.9.1.3.1.1 - Error
    1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.19.1.1.9.1.3.0.0.x - Error
    1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.19.1.1.9.1.3.0.1.x - Error
    The PRIs that we want to see are 0/1/0 e 0/1/1...... (bad luck!)
    Do I need to make some special configuration on the Router?

    Have you had any responses to this issue ?
    I am running into exactly the same issue and have tried everything I can find to get these individual PRI (count of channels/lines in use) statistics.
    Just for the record, here are some of the SNMP OIDs that I have tried (the ISRs do respond to them, only thing is, the data they send back is mostly rubbish...) the output below is from two separate routers, with different versions of IOS running (which is shown in the sysdescr response):
    Note that the query in red in the second router was responded to with a valid response in the FIRST router...
    All of these OIDs have been suggested at various sites online as useable SNMP OIDs for the ISR, but at other sites, they are suggested to be faulty.  I have found no definitive statement for ways to get these stats successfully on the ISR platform (which amazes me.)  Output below is using net-snmp to collect the stats.
    I welcome any suggestions as to how this can be done reliably for the ISR, and what IOS versions WILL work.  (since I am getting way different reponses to the same OIDs on the two versions below).
    You'll see that for the second (DC) router below, the values are always Zero.
    Yet I can guarantee that the ACTUAL stats are NEVER zero during the time period queried.

  • Problem with Generating SNMP traps from Windows Events

    Hi Supporter,
    I configured some events to be translated to traps using evntwin for Service Control Manager and Local Session Manager events. But I just got traps from Service Control Manager event. There is no Local Session Manager events are generated. I checked
    with Event Viewer that events are created. Do you have any idea to fix my problem?
    Thank you!
    Here is my config file from evntwin:
    #pragma add "System" "Microsoft-Windows-TerminalServices-LocalSessionManager" 2952790037 1 0
    #pragma add "System" "Microsoft-Windows-TerminalServices-LocalSessionManager" 2952790039 1 0
    #pragma add "System" "Microsoft-Windows-TerminalServices-LocalSessionManager" 2952790040 1 0
    #pragma add "System" "Microsoft-Windows-TerminalServices-LocalSessionManager" 2952790041 1 0
    #pragma add "System" "Service Control Manager" 1073748864 1 0

    #pragma ADD<EventLogFile> <EventSource> <EventID> [<Count> [<Period>]]
    The parameter EventSource specifies the application that generates the event.
    those maybe helpful...

  • ACS 5.4 snmp problem - sysoid

    I've looked through the posts and haven't found anything on this yet.
    We have 2 ACSs, 5.4, running on VMs.The ovas were initially deployed via the 5.3 image, then upgraded. The secondary had a storage problem over the weekend and the vm was not backed up as production, so it was deleted. We had to completely rebuild.
    This time, the ova was deployed from the 5.4 iso. Did patch 1, AD integration, etc. and then reestablished it as the secondary. Functionally everything
    is fine, replication is good, and everything is working.
    Looking in our NMS, I do see an issue with the sysoid. Below is the a snippet from the primary:
    .1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1.0 = STRING: Cisco Secure Access Control System 5.4
    .1.3.6.1.2.1.1.2.0 = OID: .1.3.6.1.2.1.47.1.1.1.1.13.1
    Here is the same from the newly deployed secondary:
    .1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1.0 = STRING: Cisco Application Deployment Engine
    .1.3.6.1.2.1.1.2.0 = OID: .0.0.0
    Has anyone seen this? Once again, everything is functioning fine and this appears to be cosmetic (not affecting normal ops).
    Thanks, chris

    At this point, my plan is to apply patch 2. When I do this, I will reboot the secondary (the VM itself). What I am not sure of is whether or not this was done. I thought when the initial ADE config was done and the setup script installed the app, the
    VM rebooted at that point. But that's what I'm going to try, change ticket is set for the 23rd. If I still see the same thing, then I'll look at playing around with the snmp settings, since it's not an issue of snmp not working, it's just not reporting the mib2 values I would expect.
    Thanks, chris

    Hi,
    For a multicore processor you need to make a few changes to get the load on each core/processor. You need to have an instance for each core.
    Try adding .1 or .2 to the OID to get the load on each core.
    Also try doing an snmpwalk on the OID to see what the real structure is.

    Thanks for your anser.
    I tried to snmpwalk...
    But I failed...
    I tried another system that snmp don't be installed.
    So, Success...
    But I have some promblem..
    I executed snmpwalk .1.3.6.1.4.1.140.600...
    But I got the mib variable from .1.3.6.1.4.1.140.600.20 to
    .1.3.6.1.4.1.140.600.50
    I can't get the .1.3.6.1.4.1.140.600.10.xxx...This is because, for some reason your cluster is not up/active. Bcos if you
    look at the first line of the output you have attached from snmpwalk, it
    shows that the value of 'serverEntry.clusterName' == 'standalone' for
    'myserver'. i.e. that server is not a part of a cluster.
    I would double check the cluster setup. Do you get messages in your
    weblogic.log from the respective servers indicating that they have joined
    the cluster ?
    Because I don't get the .1.3.6..1.4.1.140.600.10.xxx, I can't know the
    clusterEntry index
    and I can't know the list of servers in cluster.
    I attached the snmpwalk result.
    And I attached the weblogic properties file of snmpwalk target system.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello, all
    I am attaching the weblogic.properties, startWebLogic.cmd and
    startSNMPAgent.cmd
    I started the weblogic server 5.1 on port 7001.
    Then started the SNMP agent using the command
    "%JAVA% weblogic.SNMPAgent -password system -snmpPort 161 -serverURLs
    t3://210.182.160.120:7001 -community public -debugLevel3 -trapDestinations

    210.182.160.120 : WebLogic Server 5.1
    210.182.160.111 : Trinity(NMS)
    Then I tried to access the "serverState" variable using the command
    "java snmpget localhost .1.3.6.1.4.1.140.600.40.1.20"
    "java snmpwalk localhost .1.3.6.1.4.1.140.600.20"
    But i am getting the following error.to get server state for all servers.. use the following command
    java snmpwalk localhost .1.3.6.1.4.1.140.600.20.1.20also the output you have attached is from the first command (snmpget).
    can
    you try the command above and see what output you get on the agent side?

    Response PDU received from localhost/127.0.0.1, community: public
    Error in response. There is no such variable name in this MIB.
    Index: 1
    Errored Object ID: .1.3.6.1.4.1.140.600.40.1.10This error is an expected response to your snmpget command above.'snmpget'
    needs an "instance OID" i.e. OID of an element + value of the index
    which
    identifies that instance of that element. Try the snmpwalk commandabove -
    it should return you the "instance OID" which you can use with snmpget,if
    you like
    good luck !

  • SNMP Traps Monitoring problem.

    Hi,
    Hear is my problem. I am using SNMP Traps as Auto-Reaction Method to monitor some files system. I am already receiving Traps when the file exceeds the thresholds value (when change from Green to Yellow and when change from Yellow to Red). The problem that I’m having is that I am not receiving Traps to reset these values (Reset from Red to Yellow and Reset from Yellow to Green). What do I have to do to receive those traps?

    Hi Santiago,
    I am trying to send snmp alert from solution manager to Tivoli enterprise console. I did all configuration based on SAP document but Tivoli team keep saying that they did not receive anything. There is no way i can test on my side that what is the problem. When aler is generated, i see the MTE goes red and then alert status shows " Action required". However if I change the method to email, i receive emails. it is only SNMP which does not  work.
    Can you tell if i need to setup special parameter in SNMP method which i am missing. I did the following:
    HOST - Tivoli server
    Trapsort - UDP
    Port - 162
    MIB_DIR = /usr/sap//SID/SYS/exe/run/MIBS
    Also is there any settings which Tivoli team has to do for receiving traps? It is possible for you to share the setup document? you can send it to me on [email protected]
    Thanks for ur help.

  • Spine and SNMP problems

    Hi everyone,
    I have followed the tutorial to installing cacti here http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Cacti
    But when i try to add an interface stats graph, i get:
    + Running data query [1].
    + Found type = '3' [snmp query].
    + Found data query XML file at '/srv/http/cacti/resource/snmp_queries/interface.xml'
    + XML file parsed ok.
    + Executing SNMP walk for list of indexes @ '.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.1'
    + No SNMP data returned
    + Found data query XML file at '/srv/http/cacti/resource/snmp_queries/interface.xml'
    When the query is run in debug mode.
    Thinking that the tutorial above lacked some config, i blindly started playing around (as you do) and ended up with 'rwuser cacti' in my snmpd.conf.. Im really lost as to how snmp is configured and cant find any understandable tutorials for it.
    My cacti.log shows this error, suggesting that snmp is not set up to handle cacti's requests:
    SPINE: Poller[0] WARNING: Host[3] DataQuery[1] Reindex Check FAILED: No SNMP Session. If not an SNMP host, don't use Uptime Goes Backwards!
    SPINE: Poller[0] WARNING: Host[3] DataQuery[6] Reindex Check FAILED: No SNMP Session. If not an SNMP host, don't use Uptime Goes Backwards!
    SYSTEM STATS: Time:1.2157 Method:spine Processes:1 Threads:1 Hosts:2 HostsPerProcess:2 DataSources:10 RRDsProcessed:10
    Please help!!

    Weirdly, it started working with absolutely no input from me..
    So i added a network traffic graph, and i was getting some blank graphs. But this seemed to be a problem with cron, so i have restarted the service and everything LOOKS to be working. We'll see if i get any useful info.
    How the hell did it start working?
