SNMP OIDs to identify port mode setting on 3750, 6509 and Nexus switches

Is there and OID I can use to determine if a port is setup as an access or trunk port?
Thanks

Hi Jeff,
for the c6500 I use CISCO-STACK-MIB::vlanPortIslOperStatus
vlanPortIslOperStatus.13.43 = notTrunking
vlanPortIslOperStatus.13.44 = trunking
and for the Catatlyst 2k/3k CISCO-VTP-MIB::vlanTrunkPortDynamicStatus:
vlanTrunkPortDynamicStatus.1 = notTrunking
vlanTrunkPortDynamicStatus.50 = trunking
! ifIndex
Unfortunately I don't have any Nexus yet.

  • LACP port channel between 6509 and Nexus 7K

    We are in the process of migrating from dual 6509's to dual 7010's.  We have moved our 5k/2K's behind the 7K and have layer 2 up between the 6509 and 7K.  This link is configured as a port channel with 2 1gig links using LACP.  The port channel is up and working and traffic is passing but it doesn't appear the load it equally distributed between the links.  Both the 7K and 6K are setup for src-dst-ip for the load balancing.  The links have been in place for over 12 hours and I would have expected them to "equal" out.  Has anyone had this issue in or is this to be expected?  For clarification there is not VPC inolved in this configuration it is simply a port-channel between one 6509 and a 7010.
    Thanks,
    Joe

    I am trying to build a basic TCL skeleton script that reads a remote SNMP OID and displays the value on the screen.
    I don't want it to be an EEM Event, I just want to run it from the (tcl)# prompt.
    So I guess I'm asking if you can use cli_exec and other commands in the "namespace import ::cisco::eem::*" in a normal non-EEM script - can I do that?
    This is the error I get:

    If you don't want an EEM policy, then don't use any of the EEM constructs.  Instead, all you need is this:
    set output [exec "snmp get v2c 192.168.1.100 public timeout 1 oid 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1.0"]puts $output

  • SNMP OID for AssociatedAPs in Virtual WLC 7.4.100.0

    Hello Guys!
    I need you help for something that I need to do to monitor my Wi-FI network.
    I'm using a Virtual WLC (SW Ver 7.4.100.0) where most that 30 APs are associated with, but I would like to monitor each disaciossiation of APs using SNMP. After some search, I have found this OID .1.3.6.1.4.1.14179.2.1.1.1.38 on some forums but it doesn't work, I see random number in my monitoring tool.
    Do you know if there is any another OID to use with this software version or maybe if I have to upgrade to ver7.6 or ver8?
    Thanks in advance,
    Kevin

    I'm assuming you don't own a license for Cisco Prime Infrastructure
    One thing you can do is send SNMP traps to your monitoring software from the WLC (I've never used virtual WLC but my assumption is most options are the same. If your software doesn't support SNMP Traps consider a different monitoring software...
    Go to Management > SNMP > Trap Receivers and set up your receiver
    Then to to Management > SNMP > Trap ControlsHere is where you set what traps are sent via SNMP. If you see the "AP" tab you can set several things.
    If you only want to see if an AP is dropping off the network and the above doesn't work, you could just put dhcp reservations on your APs and have your software ping it. This of course is only if its off network, not if it simply disassociates.

    Hello –
    I received a reply from the developer of the script, and listed below is the new code that was suggested:
    #!/bin/bash
    value=`snmpwalk $1 -v1 -c $2 .1.3.6.1.2.1.25.1.5.0 | cut -d " " -f4`
    if [[ value -gt  $3 ]]
    then
    echo " $value Users Online, Critical!"
    retval=2;
    else
         if [[ $value -gt $4 ]]
               then
               echo " $value users online, Warning!"
               retval=1;
               else
               echo " $value Users online, fine."
               retval=0;
               fi
    fi
    exit $retval;
    I checked the server in question, and there were two, 2, user logins active on the system. I ran the snmpwalk command, and the output was the following:
    HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrSystemNumUsers.0 = Gauge32: 15
    I then modified the script to include the above text, and ran it again. The output was the following:
    15 users on line, Normal.
    For some reason, the value of 12 appears to be that for no users logged into the system. I am not sure why that is the case.
    If nothing else, progress has been made with the modification of the script.  The snmp service that I have installed on the server is that which came bundled as a
    feature with the server. The only thing that was not installed was the SNMP WMI Provider option.

  • Cat4K "Switch Bandwidth Utilization" SNMP OID

    Hello,
    I have several devices of the Cat4K family (C4948, C4900M, C4500X) for which "show environment" displays a "Switch Bandwidth Utilization" percentage.  Does anyone know how to get that value by SNMP?  I tried browsing the ciscoMgmt MIB from a 4500X but the closest thing I could find were OIDs for the status of the front-panel LED display for switch utilization (which the 4500X doesn't have)...
    Thank you.

    SNMP sure does that. Default OID should work fine. Community password is set to "public" by default.

  • SNMP OID on Catalyst 3750G & 3650G

    Hallo guys,
    we have a couple of 3750Gs and sveral 3650Gs in my company lan, and I'm looking for the SNMP OIDs supported with which the very basic status of these switches can be retrieved. I mean generic status like the switch is being active, or experiencing technical error etc...
    I was advised to take 1.3.6.1.2.1.4.1.0 (IPForwarding), but I'm not sure if it is the right one. I'd appreciate if someone can give me a hint..
    Thank you!
    Li Lu

    Your request is pretty generic.  There are a lot of OIDs which can provide device health.  You might want to start with ifInOctets, ifOutOctets, ifInErrors, and ifOutErrors.  Those will give you per-port byte and error counts in both the ingress and egress directions.
    As for whole-device help, take a look at the moduleTable from the CISCO-STACK-MIB.  The object moduleStatus will tell you the status of the fixed switch itself.

  • Port Modes

    Hi everyone, I am new to the Linksys range of Switches (normally a Cisco person but it was practical in this instance to get a linksys SFE2000)
    Long story short, what is the difference between port setup  "General" and "Access" in respect to VLAN. I cannot set the port to access as the default 100 is already tagged and it won't let me untag (option for vlan 100 is all greyed out).
    I can get some connectivity to work if I set to General but that's not what I want.
    I want to setup port 1-6 on VLAN 1 attached to Interface 0/0/0 on a Cisco 1841 and port 7-24 as VLAN 2 attached to Interface 0/0; Assumption is that I can ping from vlan 1 to vlan 2 via the 1841 but the problem is that it will only work if I use "General" port with VLAN ID of 1 for VLAN 1 and "Trunk" port for VLAN ID 2.
    Any ideas?

    trunk mode and access mode are the same as on the cisco.
    A port in access mode can only be member of a single VLAN and operates fully untagged.
    Trunk mode means all VLANs are transferred 802.1Q tagged except the management VLAN 1.
    General mode does not put any constraints on tagged or untagged or membership. You can join any VLAN you want to a general mode port. You can set it untagged or tagged as you wish. You have to define the PVID for untagged frames sent into this port.
    What did you set as management VLAN on the switch?
    I don't know the SFE2000 but usually you have to options to assign VLANs to ports: Port to VLAN or VLAN to port. If one way does not work, maybe the other way works. As long as there is still a tagged member on the port you cannot put it into access mode. Sometimes the web interface has its flaws and you must play around a little to find out how to change it, e.g. maybe add another VLAN untagged and then take off the tagged one or similar.

  • Mail is timing out any port I set up

    Hi,
    I am in a network that has a proxy server. In the beginning I thought, I can't use Mail because of the proxy. So I set up Mozillas Thunderbird and that works just find with sending and receiving e-mail from MobileMe and a Pop3 account.
    Than I had a professor over from the US, who was using mail just fine. He has a .mac account and several other pop3 and imap accounts
    So here I am, getting frustrated over Mail because I can't get it to work with my accounts.
    It says that the Ports are timed out so I tried the other ports suggested on other discussions here, some forums and google. With NO results.
    I need to work with Mail because of address book. Thunderbird would not recognize the addresses.
    All Proxy Settings are set to the same proxy. I don't use the passive FTP Mode and I have just one bypass in the proxy settings. Maybe that helps.
    Thank you

  • Switches have a VTP Mode set to "server" can I set them to "Transparent" on a live network?

    Currently our cisco 2960 switches at location "B" have a VTP Mode set to “server” I want to change this to “Transparent”
    They have VLAN1-default (active) 10.1.10.81; VLAN2-patron(active) 192.168.10.2; VLAN3-vlan0003(suspended) no ipaddress; VLAN4-vlan0004(suspended) 192.168.20.2
    I want to delete VLAN3 and VLAN4
    The connection between loc "A" and "B" is set to “Static Access VLAN1” I need to change it to “Trunk Nonnegotiate Vlan all” for our vlan2 at loc "B" to work.
    Reason for this change, when I added these switches to our network about 6 months ago it brought my network down, Knowing what I know now I think they wrote their settings to all the other switches that were vtp server switches on our network, VLAN3 and 4 were set to active at that time.

    Switching from server to transparent vtp mode will not disrupt your network, the existing vlans will still be available, modifications however will need to be executed manually on the transparent mode switches.
    If the interfaces between location A and B are configured as access ports, VTP will not work as it is only in effect on trunk links.
    Before adding switches to an existing VTP domain, best practise is to configure transparent mode to set the revision number to 0. This way the VLAN database of existing switches will not be altered when connecting the switch.
    HTH,
    Bert

    Issue: looking for a snmp OID to poll power supply status (Inbuilt Power Supply -  no redundant power supply in this scenario). Possibly what we see in show environment.
    CSE analysis:
    I tried using the OIDs belonging to CISCO-ENTITY-FRU-CONTROL-MIB , like cefcFRUPowerOperStatus and cefcFRUPowerAdminStatus but it didn’t return anything.
    NOTE: I have done all the snmp walks from the Linux server. Do I doubt it’s something to do from the snmp manager side.
    Couple of observations. The  CISCO-ENTITY-FRU-CONTROL-MIB talks about the field replaceable power supplies, so I doubt if it’s going to return the value for inbuilt power supply.
    Second, I noticed that there are snmp traps supported for power supply and threshold setting. See configuration below. Is it that only traps works for power supply and environment related details?
    Snmpwalk on cefcFRUPowerStatusEntry returns nothing:

    Hi
    I've got an ASA with redundant power supplies. An ASA5585. So I have the need to monitor them. :-) So how can we do it?
    Also I've made a SNMP-Walk through the ASA v8.4(2)8 and it doesn't show up any ENV-MIB values. The
    1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13 tree is not available. Are you shure it's available on the ASA?
    Funny is also that the command "show snmp-server oidlist" from the 8.4 configuration guide is not available on the real CLI. I think the documentation guys were faster than the coders. ;-)
    Kind regards
    Roberto

  • The cisco snmp oids do not work, I can't get cpu or memory data.

    Hello. I want to monitor the cpu and memory usages on my cisco devices using snmp. I found the snmp oids related to cpu in the following page :
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk648/tk362/technologies_tech_note09186a0080094a94.shtml
    I just copy the table here:
    But the oids in the table do not work on my devices. For example, I have a cisco 3550 switch with the ip 192.168.1.211, version 12.2(25)when I want to get the informations about the oids up in the table, I got these results:
    It shows that the oids cisco given up in the table are not existed in my 3550 switch's MIB. More weird is that when i add a number "1" to
    the end of the oid cisco given, I can get some meaningless data for some unkonwn item names like "entreprises.x.x".
    For most mib items, the snmp oids work well on my switch. For example, the following graph shows the interface out rate of the swtich:
    I think the essence is when I executed the following command:
    in all the output results, there's not any item relevant with "cpu" or "memory", but most other items are ok, such as interfaces, as shown below:
    IF-MIB::ifDescr.47 = STRING: FastEthernet0/39
    IF-MIB::ifDescr.48 = STRING: FastEthernet0/40
    IF-MIB::ifDescr.49 = STRING: GigabitEthernet0/1
    IF-MIB::ifDescr.50 = STRING: GigabitEthernet0/2
    IF-MIB::ifDescr.51 = STRING: Null0
    IF-MIB::ifDescr.52 = STRING: Vlan1
    IF-MIB::ifType.1 = INTEGER: ethernetCsmacd(6)
    IF-MIB::ifType.2 = INTEGER: ethernetCsmacd(6)
    IF-MIB::ifType.3 = INTEGER: ethernetCsmacd(6)
    IF-MIB::ifType.4 = INTEGER: ethernetCsmacd(6)
    IF-MIB::ifType.5 = INTEGER: ethernetCsmacd(6)
    So why the cisco given oids won't work on my cisco switch, and how can I get the datas I want? Anyone has some advices? Thanks in advance!

  • Input Ready Query, Variable read mode setting Only Values for InfoProvider

    Hi,
    I have a problem with Selection Variable for a BEx Query :
    - I'm working with SAP BI 7.0 support package 15
    - My query is an input ready query built for an "aggregation level" based on "real time infocube" (Planning);
    - Characteristic, I want to filter with variable, has query property Advanced->Query Execution for Filter Value Selection = Only Values in InfoProvider
    - Characteristic (info-object) has set the property: Business Explorer tab--> Query Def. Filter Value Selection as Only Values in the info-provider...
    My problem is:
    when I execute a query,
    the Select Values for Variables screen appears
    I push on the Select from List button
    and Select Values For MyCharacteristic appears...
    but it shows me all values in master data table of my characteristic instead of only values in the infoprovider!!!
    If I build a query for the Real Time Cube it works correctly, but if the query is built for the aggregation level it doesn't work!
    Could someone explain me why it doesn't work correctly?
    Thanks in advanced

    Dear Fede,
    Regarding the query built on aggregation level please note the following
    the aggregation level is always a Virtual Provider built other
    InfoProvider and hence it does not have the dimension table and hence
    the F4 mode D is not supported.
    Therefore when aggregation level is used in a query, F4 does not supportD-mode: 'Only Values in InfoProvider' and all master data values are
    displayed in the value list.
    Reference from the note
    984229 F4 modes for input help as of SAP NetWeaver 2004s BI
    4. Since other InfoProviders do not have a dimension table, the system
    displays only posted values if you select "Only Posted Values for
    Navigation". Otherwise, it displays the values from the master data
    table.
    Hope this should clarify your doubts. Please let me know if you have
    questions else please confirm the message at your earliest convenience.
