SNMP stat isn't updated by Sun WebServer if started from comand line
Reproduce steps:
- Configure server instance for SNMP monitoring( from webconsole or server.xml)
- restart snmp master agent and subagent server
- start server (/opt/SUNWwbsvr/https-server1/start)
Server information appears in SNMP start but its status(1.3.6.1.4.1.42.1.60.1.1.8) is always 0.
Woraround: start/stop sevrer from web admin console
and it starts to update SNMP start for next command line launches
Problems appears at
version: 6.1 SP4
platforms: Linux RHEL3, AIX.
(At Window all is fine.)
I'm wondering if somebody met this problem and perhaps knows the sollution.
Can you do the following and let us know the result :
(a) ps -ef | grep httpagt
(b) send a SIGHUP signal to httpagt process and then try to access after few seconds to see if it updates the status of the server.
kill -HUP <pid of httpagt>
(c) Can you see any log in <install_root>https-admserv/logs/log.httpagt ?
Are you running both instance and admin server as different users?

Can Sun Webserver 7.0 be managed through JMX instead of CLI / GUI?
Hi,
I've recently got the new book on Sun Webserver 7.0 and something piqued my interest; the fact that both the CLI and the GUI use JMX to manage the underlying software.
Having used JMX before to manage servers and looking to integrate Sun Webserver into my infrastructure I went to see if I can get JMX control over the application.
I've found a blog post to help me out somewhat: http://blogs.sun.com/natarajan/entry/using_jconsole_with_web_server
To my dissapointment I can only see the memory stats of the admin server.
None of the interesting Mbeans (FastCGI, etc) seem to work.
Is there some way I can interface with Sun Webserver 7.0 from Java that does not involve changing the xml configs from Java or calling the WADM commands through ProcessBuilder?The JMX interface isn't considered public. You might be able to discover its syntax and use it yourself, but it's not publicly documented and can change without notice. The supported methods of administering the Web Server are the GUI, the CLI, and direct manipulation of the configuration files.

Best Way to Migrate a configuration from one sun webserver to another
Hi,
What is the best way to migrate a configuration from one Sun Webserver to another? I am using Webserver 7 Update 5 on Linux. If I just copy the configuration directory, the administration server doesn't know it. Thanks!I found my answer.. I found this link - http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5317534

My 5s iPhone is stuck on Itunes icon and a cable. I tried to do a restore but the iPhone isn't updated. All the labs that i send it to, couldn't fix it, what I can to? help! thanks.
Sounds like a 'stuck' Shift key. You could try to take the key off and put it back on yourself (should be some info on that from ifixit) or just take it to your local Apple Store and have them fix it.

I have OS X I think. In any case I installed an updated firefox and my OS itself isn't updated enought to run it. So can I either somehow downgrade to the old firefox or at least somehow access and export my bookmarks?
Swarnava, the OP is using a Mac, not Windows.
@Jubjub, based on your More system details... on right of your post you have a Intel Mac OS X 10.4.11
The last version that will work on your OS version is Firefox 3.6.* as the current 3.6.24 can be found at http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html -

I need to restore my ipad but it won't restore because the software isn't updated and you can't update the software because it is in recovery mode. What do I do know?
I would take it to the apple store to get recovery mode taken off.

RedirectMatch equivalent command in Sun Webserver
I am looking for a equivalent command for this in SUN Webserver. This command is specific to IBM HTTP server.
RedirectMatch permanent ^/$ /content/common/index.jsp
Purpose: One of our sites www.xyz.com is redicted to URL www.xyz.com/content/common/index.jsp immediately. We are not able to carry the referral inforamtion from www.xyz.com to second URL. So we are missing some vital statistics.
ThanksYou didn't mention what version you're using.
In Sun Java System Web Server 7, you could use the following:
<Client uri="/">
NameTrans fn="redirect" status="301" url="/content/common/index.jsp"
</Client>In Sun ONE Web Server 6.1, things are more complicated:
<Client uri="/">
NameTrans fn="redirect" from="/" url="/content/common/index.jsp"
Output fn="set-variable" code="302" error="301" noaction="true"
</Client>(In both versions, you should place the <Client> container inside the <Object name="default"> container in the obj.conf configuration file.) -
Sun WebServer(a.k.a iPlanet) 6 SP 5 Passthrough.dll
Hi,
We are running Sun WebServer(a.k.a iPlanet) 6 sp5 that proxies all the requests to weblogic servers. We tried using proxy36.dll but the response time was slow(Have opened a ticket with BEA weblogic). We then configured passthrough.dll to proxy all the request to the weblogic server. The problem that i'am facing here, no matter how many servers we specify in the servers attribute it always picks up the first one listed and forwars all the request.
Here is the entry in obj.conf
<Object name="passthrough">
ObjectType fn="force-type" type="magnus-internal/passthrough"
Service type="magnus-internal/passthrough" fn="service-passthrough" servers="http://1.2.3.4:8011 http://5.6.7.9:8011"
Error reason="Bad Gateway" fn="send-error" uri="c:/iPlanet/Servers/docs/badgateway.html"
</Object>
Am i doing something wrong here.
Thanks in advancebabloo73,
I did tried this with SJS Web Server 6.1 SP5, and the load balancing does work for me.
Here is the simple test I perform.
- configured three backend servers A, B and C
- configured SJS Web Server 6.1 SP5 with the Reverse Proxy Plugin, described here http://docs.sun.com/source/819-0902/rpp61.html point to three servers above
- send a request to a simple webapp, it goes to server A, successive requests from the same client go to the same server, since stickyness is implied to keep session alive
- restarted the browser, send a new request, this time it when to server B
Here is my config:
<Object name="passthrough">
ObjectType fn="force-type" type="magnus-internal/passthrough"
Service fn="service-passthrough" servers="http://A.com http://B.com http://C.com"
</Object> -
Suggest me for the Issue on Sun webserver 7.0
Hi All,
I should not call it as issue.
In our project ,we have configured reverse proxy on two sun webserver 7.0 servers ,each webserver will serve each sun application server.The reverse proxy configuration is working fine and it is serving sun application server comfortably.But the issue is,
Sometimes one of the Sunapplication servers is going down and based on reverse proxy configuration the webserver is redirecting the requests to the server which is already down.
How can I configure sun webserver to redirect to another application which is alive.
Looking for your valuable replies.
Thanks in Advance
MadhuThanks for the reply and I will check & get back.

Problem calling AS8.2 EJB from Sun WebServer 6.1
Last time I've probably posted my question in to the wrong forum. Sorry for cross-posting, but I really need to solve this issue.
I am calling an EJB from a JSF portlet. When I deploy the portlet on a Sun Portal 7, running on a Webserver 6.1, then
InitialContext.lookup(String)
returns
com.sun.corba.se.impl.corba.CORBAObjectImpl
instead of
...MyClassHome_DynamicStub
The PortableRemoteObject.narrow then returns null instead of the class...
I've found a solution to this here: http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=136&threadID=619420
The solution is to use another INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY:
props.setProperty(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "com.sun.appserv.naming.S1ASCtxFactory")
But I need this to be done on a WebServer, and
com.sun.appserv.naming.S1ASCtxFactory is contained in the Application server jar (appserver-rt.jar I believe).
According to this:
http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6336410
I can't use this jar in the Sun Webserver. And it's probably true, the portlet doesn't work with the jar packaged in to the WAR.
Is there any other solution to this?Is there any other solution to this?Yes, there is. The EJB Client Jar was missing the RMI stubs. When I called the EJB from the AS8, the server probably created the stubs, but webserver didn't.
rmic -iiop classname solved the issue. -
Sun WebServer 6.1 x86 - Setup problem
Hi,
I have downloaded Sun WebServer x86 for following sparc platfrom (64-bit) [FileName : sun-webserver61-Solx86.tar.gz]
*$uname -a*
SunOS hml-newsunt2a 5.10 Generic_127111-02 sun4v sparc SUNW,SPARC-Enterprise-T5220
Afetr extraction of the .tar.gz file i found following directory structure;
-bash-3.00$ ls -l
ctotal 191310
-rw-r--r-- 1 oracle oinstall 172426 Mar 25 22:14 3RD-PARTY-LICENSE.txt

-rw-r--r-- 1 oracle oinstall 810 Mar 25 22:14 template.inf
drwxr-xr-x 2 oracle oinstall 512 Mar 25 22:27 WebServer
But when I am trying to install the server as follows I am getting an error message;
-bash-3.00$ ./setup
*./setup: /export/home1/oracle/SunOneWebServer/Setup/./.setup: cannot execute*
I tried the same with root user as well but same result found. Any thoughts???
Important Note: I know its 64-bit platfrom. As I have already tried the 64-bit installation which goes perfectly good and server was running perfectly. But I need to use WebServer with Oracle Access Manager WebPass for NSAPI which is 32-bit. Previously I configured the webpass with 64-bit Sun WebServer successfully but after configuration Sun WebServer fail to start with following exception;
-bash-3.00$ ./start

Thanks
SheerazHi mv,
Yes, I know, but thats what I am trying I am trying to downgrading the Sun One WebServer to 32 bit becasue Oracle does not supply 64-bit version and thats where I am having problem. I am unable to install x86 version of Sun Web Server I have downloaded from Sun website on my machine I have mentioned in my first post.
Section 'Important Note' is just an extra infomration to elborate the complete scenario.
Thanks,
Shaeerz
